So this is actually three questions.

Who's your favorite BL pairing when it comes to their interactions as characters, regardless of the physical chemistry between the actors or your feelings on the show itself?

Who's your favorite acting pair as far as chemistry between the two, regardless of how you feel about the characters they're playing?

Which BL couple do you like best when considering both of those things?

Oooo, do I detect... a challenge? You didn’t confine me to a country so I’m picking one from each. Also I am not allowing myself to pull from my 10/10 or favorite all rounders. Because honestly who could ever beat We Best Love, To My Star, Until We Meet Again, Color Rush, Semantic Error, Light On Me, or Seven Days? This is me, after all. 

Who's your favorite BL pairing when it comes to their interactions as characters, regardless of the physical chemistry between the actors or your feelings on the show itself? 

Word of Honor repping for China 

Silhouette of Your Voice repping for Japan. I love love LOVE these characters and perhaps I’m influenced by the source yaoi (I Hear the Sunspot) but I don’t care. WHY did we not get more? A remake? ANYTHING. 

A First Love Story repping for Korea. Sigh. Just... sigh. 

See You After Quarantine? repping for Taiwan (Taiwan gave me the hardest time with this question) but OMG did I love these two so much and want so much more of them together as boyfriends. 

Love By Chance (actually a really easy pick despite Thailand’s glut of BL) and yes My Ride was the main challenger but AePete STILL remain one of the few couples I rewatch just for their interactions. 

How did I decide? I thought about which characters I really just liked watching them interact with each other as characters, it didn’t have to be a romantic or sexy scene. Also which ones I could imagine writing fanfic for (even though I don’t write fanfic). Also, I had to like the archetypes in play and like BOTH the seme and the uke characters. Usually, I get at least somewhat annoyed with one or the other. 

Who's your favorite acting pair as far as chemistry between the two, regardless of how you feel about the characters they're playing? 

Okay so I took this to me physical chemistry specifically, and for this one I went with the transference of sexual feedback energy. In that I believed the two characters actually really desire each other. And I do mean each other. For example Nitiman I totally BELIEVE Bboom wanted Jin but not the reverse. I like the moots to moot all the way into bed.... so to speak.

Advance Bravely repping for China (we were ROBBED) 

The Novelist repping for Japan, I mean I could go darker and hotter but I can’t be arsed. 

Kissable Lips repping for Korea, no really. When I say I can’t wait for these two to do another BL I really mean it, and not just because I’m curious about their pair branding technique. 

My Day repping for the Philippines. 

HIStory 4 repping for Taiwan, and that is quite the hill to have conquered boys. Congratz. 

Why R U? repping for Thailand. 

Thailand definitely gave me the hardest time with this one. MaxTul, Zee+ and Mew+? No one talks about Mew’s first series but I was really tempted to drop What the Duck on y’all and watch you squirm. I’m not that mean, tho.  

Which BL couple do you like best when considering both of those things? 

This is where I made it hard on myself not allowing myself any of my top 10 best BLs. Hummm.... So good sexual chemistry + great characters, both of whom I like and want more of in and out of the sack? 

Love O2O repping for China, again with the robbing. So unfair. Did they have good sexual chemistry? I don’t know, but I WANT TO FIND OUT. 

Old Fashion Cupcake repping for Japan. This was actually an easy pick. 

Love is Science? repping for Taiwan. Of course. I want a whole series with them. 

Daisy and Intouch from Secret Crush On You repping for Thailand. Now the codicil on this one is I like the characters but I trust neither the scriptwriter nor the director. I’d like these exact characters to be handed a real honest queer narrative with depth and exploration, as well as light hearted and sexy and romantic. But I want THESE characters. Do I even know if the actors can handle high heat? Nope, but I wanna watch them try. 

This was one where a lot of Thai side dishes really got considered HARD. Many of my favorite all rounder main couples I feel like I got enough of them in their series, and actually, I’m satisfied (TanBun in Manner of Death for example). But I had to ask myself if I spend more screen time with those side characters would I still like them as much (like PitchBank in Golden Blood or SanAei in You’re My Sky or KhunKaow in Brothers). I don’t know anymore. 

Yes RamKing nearly won, of course they did. But I’m tired of waiting. Also VegasPete, of course. 

You didn’t ask, but there are certainly some Thai acting pairs who I think should be handed more meaty roles that have good character + require chemistry like: YinWar, PokeTongue, ToruFirst, ChapGreen, MaxTul (YES MORE) and KarnNat (YES MORE).

Revenge never even crossed my mind y’all and here’s why:

First the bracelet. I don’t think Shu Yi would bring that out to use for revenge because that’s something too meaningful to Shu Yi to use for revenge. It’s a promise for the future 

Second and the biggest reason why is because when Shi De was monologuing on the bed and the camera was focused on Shu Yi’s face you can see the exact moment thanks to YU’s fantastic acting (he’s so good sometimes that it makes me mad) where Shu Yi finally is like yes I will forgive this idiot and give him a second chance 

Shu Yi’s feelings have never been hidden from the audience so why would the writers pull this revenge plot behind our backs?

Y'know what really hit me with the confrontation scene? The way Pat said "come here" sounded casual. The way Pran respond sounded rude. And that caused me to think about the scene where Pat basically says it's just us you don't have to be mean which in turn caused me major pain in the general chest area

no because listen, i said it before and i'll say it again. nitiman is not the best out there but somehow, with every episode, it gets better in terms of actually everything which i wasn't prepared to. i came here with lower than low expectations and it really surprised me. like, 6 episodes and two kisses already? not even sotus did that much.

now, i won't compare it with other bls because there's no room for comparison- if you tell me that this one is better than atots or itsay, i would side-eye you, full shade- but with another regular bl, this one is actually good? idk if it's because my standards are so low and i'm seeing this as quality but i'll take it anyways.

they still managed to break the stereotypes within the cliche tropes they still have. jin not being a sweet boy but actually foul mouthed, a playboy that play sports and is kind of famous within his faculty. bbomb, while he's kind of intense, he's not the pushy type and he knows that jin is a playboy and might not reciprocate but still gives him time to figure things out; also popular and play sports. also, very important, they don't bend over backwards for the other to do things they don't want.

i do have to admit that i like that they don't revolve around each other, that they have their own group of friends, their own things and the series actually show those two sides. it's good that they're not dependent of the other.

hell, even the fujoshis are respectful, like you don't see that everywhere. i hate that there are fujoshis in the first place but well, you take your wins.

idk man, maybe nitiman deserves rights and more people should watch it so we can talk about it. let's talk about it.

Puth wins this because he's been such a supportive friend to many of his friends. Also, the stupid way he helped Sun and Nuea get together? Adorable and stupid and that special kind of manipulative that only friends get to be.

Miriam is just amazing, okay? She stood up for Chon on so many levels and helped out Ai and Ni just... she was basically an angel and supported all her gaybies and made sure everything was okay.

Look, this at least partially because I liked THCT way more than 2gether. And also because Ni was an amazing friend and supportive and there and patient like a saint. So... yeah, he takes it.

Tum vs. Hin

Hin stood up for Gene. Hin risked his job for Gene and he did it in front of the world. Tum did as well but later and behind closed doors and while I do respect him as well... Hin put so much more on the line. And he did it so, so well and with tears in his eyes and I love him.

Fujisaki vs. Pang (TonChon)

We stan Fujisaki in this house. No questions, no substitutions allowed. Pang is awesome and she does her best but does she go on a roof and set off fireworks after the show was canceled to insure that her friends have a good date?

Two vs. Tul (ATOTS)

Tul is a great friend. Absolutely fantastic. But Two stands beside Third with such willingness and such openness and takes his side so thoroughly... He wins by the tiniest bit.

Tsuge vs. Rokkaku

Rokkaku was ready to throw down Tsuge for the sake of thinking he had hurt Minato. Like, I can't pick anyone over Rokkaku. Tsuge is amazing but Rokkaku would do anything for a friend. Also, he's adorable beyond measure.

Kao (Oxygen) vs. M (SOTUS)

M is such a good friend but Kao scales the side of a building to rescue his friend from being held hostage by his father. Like, M, love ya but you can't compare.

Man vs. Bone

I just love Man. He's the best part of 2gether, okay? So he wins this.

Waan vs. Pond

Pond is fun but he's more comedic relief than good friend. Waan really does his best. Though I do think he should have talked to Pai more rather than keeping all the Itt stuff secret. But whatever. At least he really tried.

Duean vs. Ram

Ram is willing to get into a boxing match for his friends. Duean is a good brother and a good friend but I think Ram edges him out simply by being a bit smarter. Duean might have him on loyalty but Ram can solve an issue with thinking.

Mueang Nan vs. Longtae

No one from FUTS is gonna win, okay? Also, Mueng Nan is a good wingman but that doesn't mean he's a good friend. A good friend would be talking to Mork about how stupid he's being. Longtae listened and learned and opened his heart and seriously he was so, so good and so understanding and so supportive.

Mark vs. Ming

Honestly, I think part of this is when the shows aired? The friendships in Thai BLs have been increasingly important and Gen Y did come after 2moons/2moons2. But also Mark just gets some of the absolute best friendship moments with Yu so he's gotta win.

Win vs. Team

This one was HARD. They're both amazing friends and exactly what their friends need them to be... but I think Team's support edges out Win just a little bit in terms of friendship.

Manaow vs. Tiffy

Tiffy kinda got fucked over by the show so... gotta give it to Manaow. I think Tiffy had all the potential in the world but the show just kept pushing her in the wrong direction.

Khiem (HCTM) vs. Jack (Nitiman)

Both fantastic hetero buddies! But Jack and his adorable willingness to play wingman despite being in the love with the girl he's pointing towards his playboy friend? So sweet.

Na vs. Boss (2gether)

I had to pick Na. I love Na. And his willingness to sacrifice his love for the sake of friendship? And then everyone joining him on the beach and the sheer comfort there? Ughhhh so gooooood.

Zhao Zi vs. Mon

ZZ is just an angel, okay? I love him dearly. And get this one because Mon is adorable but he's also so, so sassy and maybe not always the most supportive. He has good friends, though. But ZZ? ZZ was ready to throwdown just at the thought of someone judging ShaoFei for being gay.

Jack vs. Inspector M

Jack wins this because he's got his scary switchblade tricks. Also he's a friend the entire time. Inspector M is close, though. No denials. But there's something about Jack's support and the way his friendship turns to love as well... he wins.

Oat (MoD) vs. Ai

Another hard one! This one is so, so hard. I don't wanna choose. Whyyyy. But Oat helped cover up deaths and saved people and I just had to give it to him. But it was close! I've gone back and forth over and over again. Because they're both amazing friends.

BoXiang vs. ZhiGang

Honest statement, I feel like I haven't watch either of these BLs recently enough to tell you. Sorry.

Shou Yi vs. MuRen

MuRen is just such a soft, sweet friend. And then the occasional little snarks as he takes care of them? He has to win. What a darling.

Zon vs. Champ

This was also a challenge. But I feel like Zon had more good friends than he was a good friend for the most part. So it goes to Champ. Who was a very good friend as well.

Saifah vs. Pearl

Pearl's own show might have been a little fucked (which is sad because it was GL and it had potential but just went nowhere) but she was an amazing friend at all times. So she takes the gold here.

Kit (Gen Y) vs. Beam

I just adore Kit. Beam as good and he did his best and he was a good friend but Kit nearly destroyed his own romantic relationship to help a friend. Was it a good choice? No. Was it true friendship loyalty? Yes.
