It’s so funny bc I feel like we were just settling into the nice new eras tour routine of peace during the weekdays discussing what happened at each show and having fun during the weekends for the shows and now it’s just pure chaos all the time. like not to be a killjoy or @ anyone specifically or anything, especially bc if you don’t remember the full episode the context probably doesn’t really come across from the gifset alone and it’s not that memorable an episode otherwise, but the fact that like every comment on the post of that scene from 4x15 first contact is just along the lines of “haha funny slutty riker moment” is. I don’t love it? I’m sure it was originally intended to play as a joke but in context he’s stuck on a planet with people coming for him and the one person willing to help him escape is like “well I’ll only do it if you have sex with me” which is like. idk man that’s not freely given consent and I don’t really think assuming he actually wanted to do it makes anything better.

In regards to Riku initially building his identity around being the repressed but cool older brother figure who’s really strong and never needs help and like not knowing who he is outside of that role — which is why he’s initially so afraid if Sora doesn’t need him anymore, Sora won’t want him around — and those expectations making it hard for Riku to express his negative feelings. And then Riku being much happier when he abandons those expectations and stops forcing himself to play that role in order to follow his heart and be true to himself for the first time in a long while….

I feel like that’s another way Riku can help Sora. The situations are not the same, but Sora does feel pressure to always be cheerful and positive to the point where he severely represses his negative feelings and doesn’t feel comfortable sharing them with his friends… Honestly, I think Sora maybe even feels like his friends won’t want him around if he’s miserable, if he’s not what they expect. And he puts a lot of pressure on himself to not slip up, to be everyone’s hero just like they want. Like Riku before his character development, I don’t think Sora knows who he is outside of that role.

The masks they wear are different. The roles they’re forcing themselves to play are not quite the same. But there’s the same unhappiness from not allowing yourself to express your true feelings and really follow your heart, in fear of rejection and the unknown. Listening to your heart can be really hard and scary sometimes. It’s something Riku is still working on. But there’s no one who can teach Sora to follow his heart like this better than Riku.

In case you want something new! and fresh! - Les Forces Contraires by Terrenoire. They're an indie-pop French duo (they're brothers!), and have this super cosy, melodic vibe that I think you might enjoy ☺️

Okay, you were absolutely right about me probably liking these guys! The first song his me like an absolute gutter punch. I’m not entirely sure why, but it managed to hit home. It’s very simplistically poetic as well! I think the best way to describe it would be looking at your kid self and wondering when and where everything changed. So, I’d definitely say 60 falaises is a stand out so far.

Forever now thinking about the line “J'ai peur comme toi mais j't'aime plus que tout” in je veux un courage, they fucking ATE with that. Gives off the vibe of a villain finding sanctuary within a s/o; overall bop.

Misére is also damn good, (what a surprise; I’m getting attached to all the sad ones!), like the overall beat is awesome. Tbh I’m imagining Odysseus and his soldiers on the way home from Troy for some reason? I think it may be because the Thunder Saga came out for Epic yesterday though, lol.

The entirety of se revoir is just real tbh 😭; “J'veux bien qu'on se revoie, mais j'ose pas te le dire” and “J'ai peur de mes sentiments” are just. Yeah. Real.

Les météores is so softly beautiful. I love how, throughout the album so far, there’s a constant theme of fire and light. “J'ai pas de mots, non, si; je t'aime, on fera de ces moments un peu d'or pur” is so sweet. I also love the dichotomy in this; meteors destroy what and where they land (I mean, hey, look at the dinosaurs), but can help change the environment for better and allow for new life. This one just feels very warm to me, like the sun on your face when you were younger.

Le temps de revenir à la vie may or may not have got a tear or two out of me. Very much so ‘life is flashing before my eyes and I have to admit, I think I’m at peace with this. But then there’s you’. I love the ending line of “La mort, la mer, l'amour, la lumière”. Death, the sea, love, light. What a thing to live for.

Jusqu'à mon dernier souffle. That hurt. All I need to say there.

Ca va aller also got me in my chest. Love how the ending half was phrased as more of a conversation rather than lines of lyrics. Felt like I was being given a hug and told to hold on a little longer; it was really sweet!
