Describe My Blog
Thanks to @skiesfallithurts for tagging me. 🤗
Icon: It was a pic of a redhead to represent me (yeah, I have red hair), but I've had the same icon since I joined tumblr, so I changed it to a pic of my cat, Furby. He's a big, 12 y/o neurotic, indoor-only Maine Coon who always tries to bury the rest of his food and licks anything nearby to get attention. Oh, and he snores. His fur is extremely soft and he has a great purr, though.
Content: Mostly The Blacklist and Prodigal Son fandoms, and cute stuff with animals. Occasionally you may see other things I find amusing, inspirational, or just plain cool.
Letter color: It's a pale lavender.
URL: resslerette1, to honor my favorite character on The Blacklist.
Header: Red and Ressler raising a glass. I love it when these two have scenes together; James and Diego are both amazing actors and play so well off each other.
Blog Title: I didn't have one, but I thought maybe I should! I chose "What a thrill", a line uttered by Michael Sheen as Dr. Martin Whitly (aka The Surgeon) on Prodigal Son. PS is my favorite new show, and I adore Michael Sheen.
Tagging @thesmileykiley, @nhlressler, @malclombright, @redfar, @fuckyeahprodigalson, @prodigal-fan, @prodigalmalcolm and whoever would like to play!

[ad_1] KOLKATA: Bengaluru FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over 10-man Odisha FC within the extra-time to make it to their fourth successive semi-final within the Durand Cup right here on Saturday. Frayed tempers marked play in the course of the regulation time that witnessed as many as eight yellow playing cards and Odisha's Shubham Sarangi getting the marching orders. Despite the numerical drawback, Odisha FC fought onerous however solely to concede within the 98th minute with Siva Sakthi scoring his fourth aim of the match. Odisha out of the blue stepped up and seemed a greater crew to carry the sport again on a fair keel with a well-placed header by Diego Mauricio from a Sahil Panwar free-kick within the a hundred and fifteenth minute. Just when the match was headed for a penalty shootout, BFC's star recruit this season, Roy Krishna grabbed a nice win with a aim within the final contact of the sport (one hundred and twentieth). Ralte made the blunder of placing the ball out of contact with seconds to go for the ultimate whistle. The shortly taken throw-in reached an unmarked Krishna about 25-yards out and the Fijian unleashed a robust right-footed roller to beat Ralte all finally ends up. Odisha will rue a few wasted alternatives within the extra-time. Aussie Osama received a free-header within the 103rd minute however his flick went straight to Gurpreet Sandhu. Just earlier than the top of the primary half of extra-time, Pedro Martin received behind the BFC defence splendidly off a Raynier free-kick, however with solely Gurpreet to beat, botched his connection. This was Bengaluru FC's fourth straight semi-final in all their 4 appearances within the Asia's oldest soccer match. But they're but to win a title. In search of the elusive Durand Cup title, BFC will tackle the winners of Rajasthan FC and Hyderabad FC, within the semi-final on Thursday. The different semifinal on Wednesday can be between Mohammedan Sporting and the winners of Sunday's match between Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC. !(function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) ; const TimesApps = window; TimesApps.loadFBEvents = function() (function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) if (f.fbq) return; n = f.fbq = function() n.callMethod ? n.callMethod(...arguments) : n.queue.push(arguments); ; if (!f._fbq) f._fbq = n; n.push = n; n.loaded = !0; n.version = '2.0'; n.queue = []; t = b.createElement(e); t.async = !0; t.src = v; s = b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(t, s); )(f, b, e, v, n, t, s); fbq('init', '593671331875494'); fbq('track', 'PageView'); ; )( window, document, 'script', 'https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js', );if(typeof window !== 'undefined') [ad_2] Source link

Locomotive kept the pressure going after the opening goal nearly finding a second with a distance shot from Defender Andrew Fox that forced United ‘keeper Alex Tambakis into a massive save and opened Midfielder Diego Luna open for a shot that pinged off the post.
The lead would not last into the half however when in the 32nd minute Neco Brett chipped the ball over Goalkeeper Evan Newton to equalize the scoring.
Despite dominating the second half through possession and play in the opposing half, Locomotive found difficulty placing the ball into the back of the net for the equalizing goal. High pressure from both sides tested one another’s defensive thirds, ultimately paying off for New Mexico United.
A wayward low clearance from Newton found the foot of Justin Portillo who sent it back towards Tabort Preston who quickly found the far corner in the 66th minute. Mexico 4-1 France: as it happened Mexico off to a flying start at Olympics Having won the CONCACAF qualifying tournament, Mexico justified their dark horse status with a convincing win over France in Group A, courtesy of second-half goals from Alexis Vega, Sebastian Cordova, Uriel Antuna and Erick Aguirre.

Gignac's muted celebration Tigres’ all-time top scorer, Andre-Pierre Gignac, was very apologetic after knocking home a penalty for France to make it 2-1. After playing in Liga MX for six years there is a lot of feeling there.
Maybe he was therefore happy when El Tri ran out clear winners.
Mexico keeping their promise They said it would be worth it and after their four goals they now feel rather smug about that claim.
France face South Africa & Japan next.
Mexico 4-1 France Mexico had seven shots on target and converted four. Clinical.
Stats via SofaScore
MOTM - Alexis Vega (Mexico)
The forward marked an impressive day with a fine header past Bernardoni in the France goal.
Mexico get off to a flyer at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a resounding 4-1 win over Les Bleus in their Group A opener.
FT: Mexico 4-1 France We're into the final 60 seconds...
Mexico 4-1 France Substitute Eduardo Aguirre buries a shot past Bernardoni to make it 4-1. Aguirre gives the France netminder no chance from a tight angle on the right-hand side of the box.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
MEXICO SCORE 4
Muani heads straight at Ochoa. It's only a half chance and an easy one for the 36-year-old between the posts.
Mexico make another change
OFF Martin
ON Aguirre
Mexico change
OFF Vega
ON Alvarado
Michelin shoots well over from distance. Definitely not a 3-star shot.
Mexico get ready to make another change.
MEXICO 3-1 FRANCE It's a super run and goal from the sub. Antuna drives across the box and lets fly off his left foot from the edge of the box. The ball smashes off the post and goes it to all but seal it for Mexico with just under 10 minutes remaining.
ANTUNA MAKES IT 3!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL MEXICO!!! Antuna shoots!
It's nearly 3 for Mexico! Antuna finds himself down the right, shoots across the France goal and it rolls just wide. Still 2-1 to Mexico.
Vasquez heads away a France cross from the right. Les Bleus have their tails up now after Gignac's penalty.
Double change for Mexico
OFF Lainez & Cordova
ON Esquivel & Antuna
Game on! There are 20 minutes left in Tokyo, plus added time.
Mexico 2-1 France Ochoa dives to his left. Gignac sends his penalty just under the keeper's arm. Ochoa will be disappointed with that one.
GIGNAC SCORES!   Gignac has the ball in his hands.
Gignac vs Ochoa
Muani is taken down by Montes in the box...
Penalty for France! ROMO!
Romo finds himself free 30 yards from goal, takes one look at the France goal and unleashes a long range strike that sails over. A third goal for Mexico would surely put this one to bed.
France continue to push. This time Le Fée drives a cross into the danger zone from the left wing. Ochoa springs off his line to collect.
Caci shoots!
The France full-back opens up his body on the right-hand side of the box, before curling an shot just wide of Ochoa's post. A good effort. 2-0
France change
OFF Nordin
ON  Kolo Muani
France change
OFF Tousart
ON Beka Beka
Gignac finds himself offside.
Mexico's forward finds himself in acres of space on the edge of the box and fires beyond Bernardoni to make it 2-0. A fine strike after a nice through ball over the top of the France defence by Rodriguez. France are all over the place. 2-0
Cordova doubles Mexico's lead! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL MEXICO!!! Nordin shoots well wide for France. A poor effort by all accounts.
A super start to the second half for Mexico. France will have to lift their game now.
Mexico 1-0 France (Vega) It's that man Lainez down the right again. He turns France inside out before crossing for Vega, who makes no mistake with a thumping header into the net, giving Bernardoni no chance.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL MEXICO!!!
Cordova hits the post after a spectacular bit of play, taking it on his chest before volleying past Bernardoni. It's offside!
Gignac gets us underway for the second half!
The players make their way back onto the pitch for the second half!
And the first half comes to a close. A very interesting opening 45 minutes. France have failed to handle Mexico down the right, but it remains goalless at the break.
HT: Mexico 0-0 France
There will be two minutes added on at the end of the 45'.
Mexico's defence defend well as France look to break them down. Mexico regain possession and build out from the back.
France have had great success at international level (two World Cups, two Euros and a couple of Confederations Cups), but they have only been able to win the gold medal at the 1984 Olympics. Since then they have been absent without leave and they last qualified in 1996.
Nordin is fouled by Montes. It's a France free and a warning for Montes.
Cordova chance!
The ball falls to Cordova on the edge of the box. He sends his effort just wide of Bernardoni's right-hand post.
France are having their spell of the half now after an impressive opening half an hour from Mexico. Vega had the best chance of the game, but Sagnan cleared off the line. Les Bleus have yet to conjure up any real chances but are beginning to get into it more.
Ochoa saves!
Nordin hits it well from just inside the box. It's going high into the top right-hand corner. The former Granada keeper gets a big left hand to the strike. The resulting corner is cleared by Mexico.
Gignac is fed, finally. Savanier picks the 35-year-old out with a fine ball. Gignac has his back to goal, spins on the spot and directs his header low to Ochoa's left. France are now looking to play narrow. 0-0
Mexico have been the better team in the opening 25 minutes. France's game plan hasn't worked thus far, with Gignac looking quite isolated up top.
Sagnan clears another Diego Lainez cross from the right. Sanchez and the Betis winger have caused France problems down the right since the get-go.
Mexico go so close again!
Lainez does superbly well to get to the byline after a mazy run. Martin is in the box, he looks for the striker but the French defence stand strong. Mexico have really upped the ante.
Sagnan clears off the line!
It's the best chance of the game so far. Vega rounds two French defenders before sliding under Bernardoni. Sagnan is on the line to clear and it remains 0-0.
Michelin picks up the first yellow of the game for a late challenge. He can have no complaints about that one.
Sanchez flies forward from right-back to cross for Martin but his effort is blocked by Kalulu. 0-0
Savanier shoots!
It's a poor effort from around 25 yards. Ochoa watches it as it goes wide and out for a goalkick.
Today's venue is the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo, where Sweden defeated the USWNT 3-0 yesterday.
Thauvin picks out Gignac with a cross from the right but the experienced striker is unable to direct his header into the corner. More positive play for France.
It has been a lively start for both sides. Gignac is leading the line for France. Lainez of Real Betis will be looking to showcase his talents for Mexico, who are captained by the experienced goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa.
France, in all white, are playing from left to right as we watch it.
Mexico are wearing green socks, red shorts, and their famous green shirt.
We're underway in Tokyo!
It's Mexico vs France...

Neymar JR scores a hat-trick in 4-2 win against Peru
Forward Neymar scored his goals 62, 63 and 64 with the Brazil National Team on Tuesday, surpassing Ronaldo as Canarinha's second top scorer in history, behind Pelé, who has 77. The PSG star tied the Phenomenon with a penalty score that meant the partial 1-1 draw against Peru, in the 27th minute of the duel held at the National Stadium in Lima for the second Round of the Conmebol Qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. ⚽️
Tumblr media
The Mexican team drew 2-2 against its counterpart from Algeria in a very exciting match
In the 20 games that the era of Gerardo Martino has in the Mexican National Team, El Tri had not suffered as much as it did in this friendly against Algeria, nor in the win against Argentina in September 2019 was a team as overcome as it happened in The Hague, because as the Tata predicted, this rival was a more complicated test than the Netherlands. Algeria dominated the ball and as if that were not enough it was never noticed that he played practically the entire second half with one less man due to the expulsion of Adlane Guedioura, and it was until the last minutes that with a goal from Diego Lainez in the last minutes they tied 2-2.
Tumblr media
The Argentine team won with a score of 2-1 against Bolivia with goals from Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Correa
After 15 years, Argentina beat Bolivia 2-1 in the 3,600 m altitude of La Paz, in the match of the second date for the South American qualifier for the Qatar-2022 World Cup, becoming the temporary leader of the competition. Marcelo Martins opened the scoring at 24 minutes with a header and in the agony of the first half (44 minutes), Lautaro Martínez achieved equality after a faulty rebound from the Bolivian defense. Joaquín Correa scored the Albiceleste winning goal in the 78th minute with a violent shot from the left side. The team led by the star Lionel Messi was more cautious, seeking to take advantage of any opportunity that the locals gave them, while Bolivia lacked order and could not maintain the difference in favor it had achieved.

Atletico Madrid 1-0 Real Betis: Costa seals Champions League spot for 10 men
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diego Costa guaranteed 10-man Atletico Madrid's place in next season's Champions League by heading home the winner in a 1-0 LaLiga victory over Real Betis.
Atleti looked destined to hold on for at most a draw after Mario Hermoso was shown a straight red card for a foul on Loren Moron, but substitute Costa steered home Yannick Carrasco's free-kick in the 74th minute to secure a top-four finish for Diego Simeone's men.
After seeing goals for Angel Correa and Alvaro Morata overturned by VAR, there were concerns Costa's header would be ruled out during a lengthy check for handball.
However, the goal was allowed to stand, ensuring Atleti will return to European football's top table in 2020-21.
Correa slammed home a volley midway through the first half, but after a trip to the pitchside monitor, referee Jose Luis Gonzalez Gonzalez ruled it out for a handball by Marcos Llorente in the build-up.
Andres Guardado drilled a low effort just outside the upright before Morata dinked a wonderful finish over Dani Martin but was deemed offside following a lengthy VAR review.
Atletico lost Kieran Trippier to an injury before half-time and would have fallen behind had Loren hit the target with his chip over Jan Oblak following a fortuitous bounce of the ball.
Simeone sent on Carrasco, Vitolo and Costa to begin a push for a winner but he was forced to make a defensive change – Felipe replacing Correa – after Hermoso was given his marching orders in the 57th minute.
Betis, playing for the first time since it was announced Manuel Pellegrini will be their new head coach next season, pushed for a winner but Atleti held firm.
Simeone's side then snatched all three points when Costa guided Carrasco's free-kick delivery into the bottom-right corner.
What does it mean? Time for rotation
Although Atletico have won just two of their past four matches, they are now unbeaten in nine since LaLiga resumed in June.
Their superior head-to-head record against Villarreal means Javi Calleja's side will battle it out with fourth-placed Sevilla for the final Champions League qualification berth.
With Atleti out of reach, Simeone can start to consider resting players ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against RB Leipzig next month.
Costa makes the difference
Simeone has been using Llorente up front because he does not think Costa and Morata make a good pairing, but the Brazil-born Spain international staked his claim for more minutes with an important goal.
Bartra to blame
Three points were there for the taking for Betis, but Bartra was too deep when Carrasco swung in his free-kick and Costa took full advantage to net the winner.
What's next?
Atletico travel to Madrid rivals Getafe on Thursday, when Betis host relegation-threatened Deportivo Alaves.

Lionel Messi’s 73-goal season was an individual triumph, and a disaster for Barcelona
Tumblr media
Remembering the greatest soccer player on Earth’s wildest season ever.
Anyone who has followed Lionel Messi’s career can, if they really think about it, pinpoint the moment when they realized he is better than any footballer they’ve ever seen. For me, that moment was his five-goal performance against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League.
These poor souls are not bad players.
Tumblr media
Every member of this Leverkusen lineup had a solid pedigree. They started for their respective national teams, or had at least one season when they were considered one of the Bundesliga’s top players, or were eventually sold to a richer club for a lot of money. The midfielders were defensive-minded and the forwards were hard-working. Even if they did not have anywhere near the talent of Barcelona, they should have been very difficult to play against. This is a lineup that should have been, if nothing else, frustrating.
But they didn’t slow down Messi for a second. He sped right through them, as if the game was being played on a sheet of ice and Messi had skates while Leverkusen defenders wore sneakers. It isn’t hard to imagine Messi scoring five goals against a quality opponent, but it’s unbelievable how easy he made it look. This was when I realized there is no one like Messi.
youtube
These were goals 44-48 in Messi’s record-breaking 73-goal season, an accomplishment that has never been matched in high level soccer before or after that 2011-12 season. If European club competitions retain their current formats, no one may ever beat it.
But though it facilitated the greatest individual season of all time, Barcelona also found out that winning titles isn’t as simple as giving Messi as many goal-scoring chances as possible. Messi’s most eye-popping season wound up a colossal failure from a team perspective, and Barcelona has learned since that one superstar — even if he’s the best player the sport has ever seen — cannot carry a team by himself.
The how and why
Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have posted 50-plus goal seasons so many times now that fans have taken the accomplishment for granted. But when both scored 53 goals during the 2010-11 season, conventional wisdom said that was as high as anyone could go. Diego Forlan, a World Cup golden ball and two-time European golden shoe winner, topped out at 35 goals in a year. Thierry Henry got to 39. Brazilian legend Ronaldo once had a 47-goal season, and never got close to that mark again.
While we assumed we had seen the pinnacle, then-Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola spent the 2011 preseason devising a new system that would prioritize, above all else, feeding Messi as many goal-scoring chances as possible. Messi’s previous season — his first as Barca’s starting center forward — went spectacularly well, but Guardiola believed he could get even more out of his superstar. Guardiola also sensed his 4-3-3 system was beginning to get found out, and he wanted to incorporate new signing Cesc Fabregas into the team.
Guaridola’s solution was to rotate his old setup with a 3-4-3 system that had a diamond midfield and no traditional wingbacks. The team’s shape and the quality of players in the center of midfield meant Barcelona could overwhelm opponents in the center of the pitch. The system was also unorthodox; Barcelona’s opponents had never seen anything like it.
Perhaps we should have known what was coming from Messi based on his performance in the Supercopa de España. He absolutely ragdolled Pepe — a large, tough defender who could knock out most people with one punch — for his first goal of the season.
Messi’s two goals in the first leg, a 2-2 draw away from home, gave Barcelona a great chance to win the trophy. His team struggled to contain Real Madrid’s attack in the return fixture, but Messi delivered two more goals, including an 88th-minute winner.
youtube
Messi would keep up this blistering goal-scoring pace for 10 months, almost uninterrupted.
The best of the 73
While the five-goal destruction of Leverkusen is the most famous Messi performance from his record campaign, my favorite is his utter destruction of Atlético Madrid. He got a hat trick — goals 10-12 for the season, all before the end of September — and it felt like he could have scored more. He forced an own goal, and was fouled several times at the end of slalom runs through multiple defenders that felt like they were going to end with shots on goal.
youtube
Messi scored his 15th of the season a couple of weeks later against Racing Santander, and showed off everything that makes him so special in front of the goal. He fully embarrassed two defenders and the goalkeeper in three touches. Before they realized what had happened, the ball was in the back of the net.
youtube
Goals 34-36 against Malaga were some of his finest work. The first, a header, was out of character for the miniature magician. But the next two were the kind that only Messi scores. On the second, he was surrounded by five defenders, and yet it felt like none of them could get close to him. He might as well have been playing in open space. On the third, he stepped past a hard challenge from his international teammate Martin Demichelis, then turned on the jets and burned the rest of the defense.
youtube
In the middle of the season, Messi hit an impossible-looking free kick to score No. 43 and terrorize Atlético Madrid a second time. Atléti complained that Messi shot before they knew play was live, but a perfectly positioned wall and goalkeeper couldn’t have done anything. To this day, it is arguably Messi’s most impressive free-kick goal.
youtube
Goal No. 61 might have been the most aesthetically pleasing of the bunch. It was vintage Barca, with Messi and Iniesta playing a perfect one-two combination, and Iniesta providing a backheel assist.
Throughout that season, it felt like Messi produced at this level every week. Unfortunately for Barcelona, Messi’s teammates weren’t nearly up to his caliber.
Messi can’t do everything
No matter the formation, Barca was set up to feed Messi shooting opportunities. Guardiola rotated playmakers Fabregas, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Thiago Alcantara, and on rare occasions put all four on the field at the same time. For opponents, focusing on slowing down Messi was nearly impossible, because so many different players could hit him with creative passes from any angle.
But there was a problem.
I believe that Messi’s 2011-12 is the greatest individual season anyone has ever had in professional team sports, but one person can only take a team so far in soccer. An expertly constructed team with no stars can stifle a team with the greatest player on Earth and a bunch of mismatched parts.
By the time El Clásico rolled around in December, Barca lagged well behind Real Madrid, despite Messi’s heroics. Pep’s 3-4-3 lacked defensive solidity, and Barca didn’t have another ruthless finisher to take pressure off its superstar. The Blaugrana’s highest highs were much higher than Real Madrid’s, but Ronaldo’s and manager Jose Mourinho’s team was much more consistent.
Real Madrid had lost one game and drawn one up to that point, while Barca had lost one and drawn four. But Barcelona cut their rival’s La Liga lead to three points thanks to a Messi masterclass away at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
youtube
Messi didn’t score — in fact, he rarely even got into the penalty area. But he was universally acclaimed as the best player on the pitch. He turned playmaker for his teammates, setting up Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez to finish off his moves. The match showed how Messi is arguably at his best: sitting in a deeper position, picking passes for runners in front of him, and arriving late in the penalty area to clean up the garbage after an initial save or block. But that strategy can only only work if the players in front of him step up.
Fabregas and Sanchez delivered on that day at the Bernabeu, but they never had the lethal finishing touch of Messi’s previous teammates, Samuel Eto’o and Thierry Henry, or his future teammates, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
One match later, Barca threw away the points gained in El Clásico. Fabregas scored in the first half against local rivals Espanyol, but didn’t attempt a shot in the second half of what ended as a 1-1 draw. Sanchez looked like he couldn’t finish his dinner, and was hauled off. Another draw against Valencia and a loss to Osasuna followed, effectively ending the La Liga title race by February.
But at least Barcelona still had a Champions League to play for ... ah, dammit.
youtube
The legacy of the best season ever played
Barcelona won Copa del Rey at the end of the 2011-12 season, but Barca supporters don’t exactly look back on this season fondly. Instead, it is remembered as the season when Chelsea dumped Barca out of the Champions League and Real Madrid posted a record 100 points.
The season fell apart for Barca one week in April when Mourinho and Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo came to the same conclusion: they had to shut down Messi at all costs, even if it meant leaving other talented players wide open.
And so, in both Champions League games against Chelsea and in El Clásico, Messi did not score. He played well in all three games, regularly finding open teammates for shots, but they couldn’t score, either. Fabregas, Sanchez and Pedro choked.
Guardiola’s idea to start the season made sense: if Messi is the best goal-scorer in the world, let’s surround him with good, unselfish supporting players who can give him as many shots as possible. But without a secondary finisher, teams could get away with swarming Messi and ignoring his partners. Barcelona had no plan B.
The failures of 2011-12 Barcelona, and the subsequent successes of Messi teams in which he plays a deeper role while others act as goal-poachers, suggests that we may never see anything like his 73-goal season again. Even if another Messi-level player emerges, they likely won’t be used in the same way he was. The lesson of that season is that it’s easy to gameplan against a team with just one focal point, even if that player is the best the sport has ever seen.
That’s why Barcelona would eventually buy Neymar, even though he was unproven in Europe, and the deal to sign him would put them in legal trouble. And it’s why they had to sign Luis Suarez in the immediate aftermath of him biting an opponent for a third time. With those two playing alongside Messi, Barcelona won a treble in 2014-15, capturing the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey in the same season.
Messi can carry average players to title contention, but he is at his best when the opponent also has to respect his teammates’ goal-scoring. He’s too good in a deeper, playmaking role to be a goal-poacher.
Which is saying something, given that when he was asked to play as the primary striker, he scored 73 times. Messi couldn’t help Barcelona overcome its structural deficiencies, but he still performed the job he was given to near perfection. He was in the wrong role, with the wrong players around him, but the 2011-12 season was Messi at his absolute best.

Barcelona overcame a major challenge in the La Liga title race on Saturday, beating in-form Real Sociedad 1-0 at home. Lionel Messi converted a penalty after 81 minutes, but there was some controversy involved with the decision to put the ball on the spot for a handling offence. La Real had given the Catalans a great battle until that point. The win moves the Blaugrana two points ahead of Real Madrid, who will face Real Betis on Sunday. The Txuri Urdin came into this match having won nine of their last 10 in all competitions, and they were more than willing to surge forward early. It resulted in an open and expansive match between two attack-minded teams, although first-half chances were rare. An early mistake from Marc-Andre ter Stegen nearly set up Alexander Isak, and Martin Braithwaite―making his first start for Barcelona―saw an effort saved by Alex Remiro. Braithwaite again put Remiro to work minutes later, and Gerard Pique made an excellent block to keep Isak from testing Ter Stegen on the other end of the pitch. Messi struck a frustrated figure early against the Basques, who did a great job isolating him. It was telling Braithwaite was the most dangerous man on the pitch for the Catalans: The Spanish Football Podcast @tsf_podcast 25 mins played at Camp Nou. Barça 0-0 La Real. Braithwaite the most dangerous-looking player on the pitch so far... Ander Barrenetxea set up Isak for the visitors' best chance of the half, but his header missed the target. Remiro made a good save on Messi just past the half-hour mark, and Ivan Rakitic picked out Braithwaite on the resulting corner, with his header rising over the bar. Cristian Portu came within inches of connecting with a sharp cross, and Messi tested Remiro again before running into a booking. Per Spanish football writer Euan McTear, the Ballon d'Or holder set a new―unwanted―milestone in the process: Euan McTear @emctear Messi booked for the third match in a row. He was lucky to still be on the pitch after he wasn't punished for this stamp on Diego Llorente: Fútbol en Movistar+ @MovistarFutbol La acción entre Messi y Llorente. #LaCasaDelFútbol https://t.co/zlJMjyxCHz The half ended on a sour note for the Catalans, with Pique in visible pain and holding his neck after clearing a corner. La Real started the second half on the front foot, with Barrenetxea shooting wide and Portu firing a dangerous cross into the box. Pique cleared but again reached for his neck after heading the ball. On the other side of the pitch, Messi set up a nice attack with Jordi Alba before shooting wide. The Argentinian got a chance with a free-kick, but Mikel Merino headed it clear before it even crossed the penalty spot. The Catalans started to increase the pace: The Spanish Football Podcast @tsf_podcast Griezmann wins the header in the box and it falls to Messi who shoots over with three defenders diving in. 60 mins played, 0-0 La Real responded by introducing Mikel Oyarzabal, who surprisingly started from the bench. Remiro made two big saves in quick succession, denying Rakitic's drive and Pique's header from the resulting corner. He appeared to be beaten when Alba flashed a teasing cross into the box, but none of the Barcelona players were able to reach it. The Txuri Urdin were still a threat on the counter, and Nacho Monreal reminded the Catalans of the danger with a shot that was blocked. Oyarzabal also went close, blasting over after the defence forgot to close him down. Isak should have given the visitors the lead with 15 minutes left to play, finding himself close to Ter Stegen but firing wide. But just as La Real seemed the more likely team to score, the VAR threw Barcelona a lifeline. After Monreal missed a chance for the visitors, the replay went all the way back to the start of the counter and concluded Robin Le Normand handled the ball. Per sports writer Samuel Marsden, the action had advanced quite a bit already: Samuel Marsden @samuelmarsden VAR checking for a possible Barça penalty for handball a few minutes ago.. Replays suggested the ball hit Le Normand on the upper arm, which was in line with his body. Messi stepped up for the penalty and converted. The Txuri Urdin surged forward in search of an equaliser, but Barcelona did a good job shutting down their efforts. Alba thought he had added a second goal deep in added time, but this time the VAR did not cooperate, chalking it off for offside. What's Next? Barcelona visit Mallorca on Saturday, and La Real visit Eibar on Tuesday.

First-half goal-fest as Mumbai hold NorthEast - football
Tumblr media
A first half goal-fest saw NorthEast United FC and Mumbai City FC share the spoils in a 2-2 draw in an Indian Super League clash Guwahati on Wednesday.Panagiotis Triadis (9th minute) opened the scoring for the home side before Mumbai City fought back with two goals from Amine Chermiti (23rd and 32nd).Asamoah Gyan (42nd) then restored parity for the Highlanders before the break as both teams settled for a point.NorthEast United started the game on a positive note and got off the mark as early as the ninth minute. Sauvik Chakrabarti failed to clear the ball from a Rakesh Pradhan throw-in and gifted the ball to Triadis, who unleashed a stunning strike from the edge of the box which left Amrinder Singh with no chance.Mumbai upped the ante and started creating a few chances after going behind. The increased tempo paid off in the 23rd minute. Mohammed Larbi released Modou Sougou down the right flank and the striker’s accurate cross into the box from the right was tapped into the net from six yards out by Amine Chermiti. The visitors soon scored another, taking advantage of lacklustre defending. Paulo Machado’s free-kick from the deep fell to Nim Dorjee who struggled to clear the ball, thereby allowing Chermiti to pull off a scissor-kick and send the ball into the net.The contest remained action-packed when Gyan equalised for NorthEast United just before the break. From a quick counter, Martin Chaves played Gyan through and the Ghanaian, after using clever feet to beat two defenders, slotted past Amrinder to make it 2-2.Mumbai continued their aggressive approach after the break and could have gone ahead again, if not for a crucial touch by Mislav Komorski after the hour mark. Larbi dribbled forward and found Diego Carlos free in the centre with a cut-back. The Brazilian forward lashed at the ball, but his strike fizzed past the post following a deflection.Mumbai looked more likely to score as the half wore on but lacked an end product. At the other end, Gyan’s firm shot from a quick break was well saved by the Mumbai goalkeeper, keeping the scoreline intact.Amrinder Singh nearly cost his team a goal when he fumbled with the ball while trying to collect a straightforward free-kick from the deep, but the hosts failed to punish the goalkeeper for his mistake and sent the loose ball over the bar.Minutes later, Triadis received the ball inside the box on the left and crossed towards the other side of the goal where substitute Maximiliano Barriero failed to connect a close-range header with just the goalkeeper to beat. Feinin: Performance in Photography: Meh secret ingredient does have dem coming back for more, Eh yuh want more dumpling
_____________________________________________________________________
From 1999 to 2010 my Design Partner Richard Bolai and I created an online presence for our work. We did it because we wanted the freedom to do whatever we wanted to do.  We saw that the conventional forms of art creating moved too slowly or not at all to accommodate what we envisioned as a brave ‘new world ‘ ahead.
Thus Timeless - Wonder of the World was born and then became The Bookmann of which Feinin became a part.
We considered ‘Curating’ our image online as RaBt (Rabbit) our initials…where we would use, and did use everything we knew, from our Graphic Design and Art training, love of theatre and sound, our humor, friendship and passion for everything Art related and we wrote about what was going on in the Art world of Trinidad and Tobago as part of that expression.
Of the  number of Art projects we did, the best of them became Richard’s personal project Feinin. We considered the other as  ‘muse’ and alter-ego and I encouraged him to explore all aspects of Art and Performance through Photography, and he did so with gusto.
An example of this was Richard’s working process for his pieces, like Freida Kahlo. We would discuss all manner of interests, and then he would produce the images for me to vet before publishing them. The requirements were that the image had to be done in a day and nothing could be bought for the portrayals. Everything in the framing came from his home in Mary Avenue, Diego Martin.
For Frieda, the sense of her life was not quite coming through. I kept saying no to every frame he showed me. We were not capturing the gist of Freida’s angst. Why not have her looking as though she had consumed her table and her national dress playing an extension of such? We went back and forth and in the end we still were not satisfied, but the goal was to complete something every twenty-four hours. Little did either of us know that his time would be so limited.
I had intended on creating a ‘Response’ to his ‘Call’ the year he died. After that, I felt that I could not do it, I could not pursue the course that we started together without him. It remains to be seen if Feinin: La Femme will one day be my way back to what was a current event, media based, Performance Photography that was part biography, parody, Trinidadian culture, a callalloo mix-up.
Rest in Peace, Richard. I miss you every day.

______________________________________
We would look at famous work or famous people. There was a sense of irreverence brought to the process. A need to do in Art what was done in our traditional Calypso. A hankering back to slavery where the stories of the way Carnival started came through how we viewed the horizon. We had the opportunity to not take anything or anyone too seriously, not even ourselves. We liked the fluidity of the process.

[TASK 045: FRECKLES]
There’s a masterlist below compiled of over 220+ faceclaims with freckles categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source. If you want want an extra challenge use random.org to pick a random number! Of course everything listed below are just suggestions and you can pick whichever character or whichever project you desire.
Any questions can be sent here and all tutorials have been linked below the cut for ease of access! REMEMBER to tag your resources with #TASKSWEEKLY and we will reblog them onto the main! This task can be tagged with whatever you want but if you want us to see it please be sure that our tag is the first five tags!
THE TASK - scroll down for FC’s!
STEP 1: Decide on a FC you wish to create resources for! You can always do more than one but who are you starting with? There are links to masterlists you can use in order to find them and if you want help, just send us a message and we can pick one for you at random!
STEP 2: Pick what you want to create! You can obviously do more than one thing, but what do you want to start off with? Screencaps, RP icons, GIF packs, masterlists, PNG’s, fancasts, alternative FC’s - LITERALLY anything you desire!
STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didn’t use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK -  examples are linked!
Stumped for ideas? Maybe make a masterlist or graphic of your favourite faceclaim with freckles. Plot ideas or screencaps from a music video preformed by a freckled artist. Masterlist of quotes and lyrics that can be used for starters, thread titles or tags.
