This idea has probably been done before, but what if the predicon clone babies DIDN’T die, and grew up into their own.

Like, maybe instead of magnus and Jackie, maybe Optimus went and discovered them and decided to save them somehow (and maybe even…steal a few (or some follow the bots home like a stray dog but still!))

As for who they are, I gotta be honest, most of my ideas are basically just prime versions of beast wars characters, but I think that would make for some very good stories! Could also have the age of extinction dinobots too (scorn, strafe and slash), and have an arc around the “new dinobots” (maybe the old dinobots come back too?👀)

Like I said, it’s probably already been done before, but I really like the idea, and I’d love to see someone’s take on the idea!

More of the Energon AU. This helps lay down some of the general ideas. Already some of the Alpha Q System citizens are teaming up with the Autobots like Kranix. The platform they’re standing on was supposed to be the Miranda II, but it’s now Omega Supreme because in the middle of drawing it I remembered he had a battleship mode. The Seacons were originally going to be part of the Energon toy line as Terrorcons but they were scrapped. Fittingly the Japanese Seacons typically are drones with a single sentient commander, like the Energon Terrorcons so I repurposed them.

In this version of events, Sharkticon and Slugslinger were upgraded from generics, similar to Wing Dagger. Their original identities were, imaginatively enough, Sharkron and Slug. Unicron Scales are lifted from an early concept from the G1 movie, where all Decepticons were upgraded using said scales.

The idea of designated reformatting idento computer terminals comes from an observation that the Energon characters never displayed an ability to Scan on their own, while they could in Armada and Cybertron. Making it a treaty deal so the Decepticons couldn’t sneak around and scan something to fight back was my rationale.

The Dinobot Combiner, Volcanicus Maximus, has sentient components which can all assume Robot Modes, to reflect the idea intended by Hasbro/Takara but not in the cartoon with the other Maximus combiners. Scorn is named after his movie counterpart, while the others are Skar (ankylosaur), Slash (parasaurolophus), Strafe (pachy) and Slog (styracosaurus).

The girl bot talking about Nautica is Optimus’ kid sister Ariel (a deliberate name usage because Ariel was Arcee’s Japanese name, but I don’t see Ariel becoming Elita until Cybertron.) She was a plucky teenager helping with things on Cybertron with her best friend Dion during Armada, while more of an older skewing teen by Energon, being more active in the field alongside her brother.

Human Allies; Raoul, Astoria Carlton Ritz, and Marissa share a flat together. Charlene and Cecilia Santiago also are roommates. Raoul, Astoria, Charlene, and Cecilia go on group dates with their partners Tracks, Powerglide, Skids, and Roadhandler.

Dot and Alex Malto, our favourite couple, are living at their barn with their SEVEN children: Robbie and Mo AND their Terran babies: Twitch, Thrash, Hash Tag, Jawbreaker, and Nightshade!

Some couples happened AFTER the War or DURING the late war. Some of them including Decepticon and Autobot love matches and forbidden romances. That however is a different story it self… quite a long one as well.

The Cassettes wanted more independence and that’s why they aren’t with Blaster or Soundwave. Blaster was supportive with it while Soundwave… he just worries about his babies.

Indeed. During one iteration of the Beast Wars, the veteran warrior Grimlock was upgraded by the quantum surge into a new Transmetal form, alongside the rest of the Maximals and Predacons. A bot out of time, frustrated by the fact that he didn’t recognise anyone, Grimlock was a thorn in the side of both factions, attempting to woo Terrorsaur and Dinobot into forming a third breakaway group.

Things were complicated by the arrival of the rogue Predacon Magmatron and his Dinobots. Grimlock was elated to meet these saurian warriors, and Magmatron capitalized on this by tricking Grimlock into thinking his crew were none other than his old teammates Swoop and Slag from the Great War—when in fact, they were the evil Predacons Garboyl and Cindersaur! Naturally, the ruse didn’t last long; their cruel behavior quickly outed them, along with the fact that neither could remember what they were supposed to be called.

In the end, Grimlock teamed up with Dinobot to send them packing; he later called the Maximal the only “true Dinobot” left, and formally aligned himself with the faction. Though they were unable to use Magmatron’s ship to escape the planet—as it was destroyed by Scorponok and Scavenger, after they failed to secure it for the Predacons—Grimlock played a key part in the Maximals’ eventual victory.

Not everyone in the Allspark generation will have noses, it’s just simply an option now. This was due to the Allspark having information of organic life from the Explore and Conquest generation.

You Gotta Buy Some If You Wanna Get One Free!

February's Patreon-backed @tfwiki theme is CAMPAIGN PROMOTIONAL MICRONS! These exclusive Mini-Cons were only available by buying certain things in certain stores in Japan at certain times! And there's a LOT of them!

There had been some promos earlier, but things really blew up with Legend Of The Microns (aka Armada). You could get one random member of the DESTRUCTION MICRON UNDERGROVE EDITION (CRUSH, DUSTER, WHEEL) by buying Convoy Super Mode at Ito Yokaido stores in January.

Mind, some stores wouldn't always follow the rules. Reportedly, some Ito Yokaido stores gave you a Destruction Undergrove Micron with ANY LotM purchase. Which could certainly be a lot cheaper than buying three of the biggest toy in the line (so far) for the set!

Fifteen different promotional Microns were released through various outlets in LotM, though six of them are identical to normal-retail Hasbro Armada Mini-Cons. Some were offered through mulitple outlets and multiple dates, making them a bit easier to obtain.

In Galaxy Force (aka Cybertron), the Microns are themed to certain major characters! The HELLFLAME MICRONS (BULGE, GRAVITON, QUASAR) are themed to Flame Convoy (Scourge), and two have new handles glued onto them because the Scourge toy has no Powerlinx pegs to use their weapon modes!

The same thing happened to the CALIBER MICRONS (ICHIBI, HYAKURAI, MUGEN), as their partner Sonic Bomber (Wing Saber) hasn't got normal hands to hold weapons, just 5mm holes in his forearms. At this point, the members of the teams were often split up across multiple stores.

Takara would continue to pump out a ton of promotional toys over the next several years, especially a LOT of Arms Micron kits during Prime. But we're gonna skip those as I've heavily covered them already, and move on to some real weirdos…

For Lost Age (Age of Exintction), four DINOBOT MICRONS were released. SLING the dragon is… odd, because yeah, a dragon is not a dinosaur. He was available at a ton of chains with a 3000yen purchase of Lost Age toys. But let's move on to the real stars here…

IVAN, PAULIE, and THUNDERLIPS. Yes, you read that right. These three are named after Hasbro's "code names" for Grimlock, Strafe and Slug toys, all taken from Rocky characters. Amazing. Also, Thunderlips scares me because that clear-plastic feels so very breakable.

I've done a LOT of promo Micron images, but there's still roughly a dozen left I've not done pics of yet. Maybe I'll do some more very soon. Some I don't own yet, but I've been keeping an eye out. This has certainly been a fun run through old tiny toys.

"You believe you could best me in battle?" Drift asked as he walked up to Crosshairs, who had been rambling about something to Strafe for the past hour. Honestly, they weren't listening, it isn't like they could respond anyway. They were never given a voice box or a means with communicate to anyone other then the Dinobots. Strafe heard Drift, aware he wasn't talking to them, though still lifted their head in recognition. This would end in a fight, they knew, and they would have to break it up, begrudgingly. No one else would save the scrapyard from their outbursts.

"Bah! Who told ya that?" Crosshairs answered, deflecting. He would rather avoid these kinds of fights, even if his pride would make him fulfil them, and lose horribly. He hadn't stood yet either, still in a seated position with one leg up and the other down, leaning to his right with his arm lazily resting on his raised leg.

"Hound informed me. I would like to test this theory of yours." Drift said, calm, serene, smiling. He pulled Crosshairs up by their goggles, one arm tight behind their back.

"Alright, alright! Jesus!" Crosshairs snapped as he was forced upward, struggling to hold his footing as the samurai let go of his goggles, making a loud snap when they snapped back onto his face.

"Damn! That hurt!" The paratrooper hissed, fixing his goggles. Drift rolled his eyes, looking away from Crosshairs briefly.

"Don't be so dramatic, the decepticons may start believing it." Drift stated, still not looking to Crosshairs. He shifted his eyes to his direction once he felt the presence of a gun pointed to the side of his head, however.

"Like ya?" The paratrooper asked. It came out odd with his accent but drift knew very well what he meant. Often he would bring up Drift's decepticon past to get back at him for damaging his fragile ego, though there was no real mistrust or venom behind the mention. He fixed the issue with a swift kick to his right knee, successfully knocking them unbalanced and making them kneel to one side. He took advantage of this to grab the wrist of the hand holding the gun and firmly grab the back of their head. Drift twisted and squeezed Crosshairs wrist until he dropped the gun with a sharp inhale and wince, letting go once it dropped. Crosshairs had his arms up in defeat, already aware that he was not getting out of their grip.

"Yes." Drift finally answered, smiling again, though a katana blade was now against Crosshairs nape. He tried arching his neck away from it but it didn't work, he was uncomfortable with how close it was, bordering fear. Drift eased them with a kiss, sheathing the katana. He was aware of how to invoke fear into his partner but didn't prefer to do it, he was trying to tease them but he supposed he should have thought it through further. Crosshairs let out a jagged breath once the blade was retracted, one he wasn't aware he was holding.

"I apologize, I didn't mean to scare you." Drift said, placing a hand on his partners shoulder. He was scanning their face, looking for any remaining fear, but it had turned to annoyance now with a slight blush dusting his face. Crosshairs swatted the samurai's hand away, storming off while muttering names under his breath. Drift looked to Strafe, who had watched the ordeal, and shrugged. Strafe was just glad it wasn't a fist fight again.

TF136: Combiners, Part 1

The concept of interlocking Cybertronians is hardly a new one, as evidenced by the twinned-spark mutation observed primarily among the residents of Devisiun. Such an idea stretches back to the Age Of Primes, where Nexus was one Spark spread over five souls, and was said to have allowed other Cybertronians to Combine via his personal artifact, the Enigma of Combination.

The embodiment of “more than the sum of their parts” Combiners are truly powerful beings, hardy enough to withstand blows capable of shredding their component ‘bots. Because of this, they have been a subject of a fairly intensive arms race, with both Autobots and Decepticons hoping to gain control of the Enigma or artificially create them.

Neither option is exactly an easy one, as Combiners require a comprehensive understanding or unit cohesion between their component parts, leading to Combiners often being comprised of already established units. There is also the fact that the Combiner itself retains an entirely unique personality, and the strain of maintaining it places a limit upon its use.

Perfect Combiners: A result of direct exposure to the Enigma of Combination, it is widely recognized that they are superior to their artificial brethren in every way imaginable, with stable personalities, longer operational periods, and even the retention of Outlier abilities.

Devastator: Comprised of a Decepticon aligned dig team that captured the Enigma during the early stages of the war. Its eight bot configuration places it head and shoulders, both literally and metaphorically, above its compatriots, the most powerful Combiner in existence, rivaled only by the Omega Guardians and Titans in raw might. Named after the whirlwinds that blow across the Hydrax Plateau, the half mindless warrior is a living WMD in the service of the Decepticons, and the dread of Autobots everywhere. 

Members: Overload, Scrapper, Skipjack, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Hightower, Scavenger, Bonecrusher.

Computron (Deactivated): The Autobots’ first Combiner. Comprised of an analysis team responsible for researching the Enigma after its recapture by the Dinobots. Though incredibly intelligent and formidable in their own right, they weren’t a match for Devastator, at least until the battle for the Allspark, where five more bots were temporarily added to the gestalt. The main team would serve with distinction, but it was not enough to save them from the Decepticon Heavy Division, a battle that would leave three members dead and the survivors reformatted. 

Members: Scattorshot, Strafe, Afterburner (MIA/Defected), Nosecone (KIA), Lightspeed (KIA). Javelin, Flareup, Pipes, Groove, Backstreet.

Victorion: The Enigma would be lost during the flight from Cybertron, and thus any further Combiners would be artificial in nature...until it would be rediscovered by the Torchbearers of Caminus, relic hunters led by the retired Autobot general Pyra Magna. Possessing gravitational manipulation, teleportation, and a strong sense of honour, Victorion is the most formidable Combiner aligned with Autobot forces. That is unless they’re back on neutral Caminus, warding off marauders under the authority of the Forgefire Parliament. 

Members: Pyra Magna, Rust Dust, Jumpstream, Dust Up, Stormclash, Skyburst.

Infernocus: A shadowy figure only spoken of in hushed whispers, haunting the periphery of battles, aligned with neither the Autobots or the Decepticons. Their loyalties, their purpose, even the identities of their components remain an enigma.
