The Dissertation Journey and Your Mental Health

The journey of a dissertation can often feel astonishingly solitary, an experience compounded by the weight of stress, anxiety and daily worries. It was precisely this sense of isolation that compelled me to become a dissertation coach, with the goal of transforming the solitary odyssey into more of a shared pilgrimage.
I clearly remember the overwhelming sense of responsibility and the looming uncertainty that clouded some of my time as a PhD student. Yet throughout it all, it was essential to remember that I was not alone. I relied heavily on my own dissertation coach, project supervisor, peers in the program and family to remind me that this particular academic challenge was, in fact, worth it. I have made some Welsh LGBTQ+ Prints!
P'nawn da! Today is the day I'm finally launching my Welsh LGBTQ+ prints for sale (find them here). Like with my dissertation, they're pay as you feel (min. £2 plus postage) and I can post them to the UK, US, EU and Canada! Designs include the 2017 Gilbert Baker flag with the stripe meanings in Welsh and English, the map of Wales featuring my pride redesigns of the historic county flags of Wales, lesbian redesign of the Cardiff flag and a brand new design featuring 12 pride flags with the names of each in Welsh and English. I have 5 of each print in stock!
If you're new here or didn't know, unfortunately I experienced several major life changes this year which have really affected my finances (hospitalisation, long term relationship ended, emergency house move, job loss due to employer discrimination and a family member diagnosed with a terminal illness. For more details see this post). In order to help support myself I'm offering these prints for sale while I search for a new part time job. At the time of writing, I only have enough money in savings to cover 2 more months of rent and bills (not including food), so anything you can spare will help me afford food and keep doing what I love. I also have a patreon if you want to support me there.
I have also got my 47-page undergraduate dissertation on the development of Welsh-language terminology between 1972 and 2022 available here as pay as you feel (even £1!). Any support is hugely, hugely appreciated.

Welp, it's Tuesday. Deep breath. Here we go.
Didn't have to go in early today and definitely wasted some time doomscrolling, which takes effort considering how much social media I've removed from my phone. Ugh. Anyway, I got up and cuddled the cat and ate a nice breakfast and felt better.
E-mails! The student I agreed to meet with yesterday about his dissertation is available tomorrow and the next day. In order to keep my work-from-home-Thursday dreams blissfully alive, I managed to slot him into my last available half-hour time tomorrow. Meeeeeetings. Also got a reminder for a mandatory training I'll have to do at some point this week, a note about a technical problem with a grant submission that would have disqualified me were it not for a reopening next week (phew), and a message from a Master's student that I honestly thought had decided against finishing (he's just got to hand in a five-page document and he's done, but he started a new job and didn't answer my e-mails for, uh, three years...), so we'll see how that goes. Also? A message from the department chair requesting an emergency faculty meeting this afternoon. Eep.
Off to campus, finally! I have a great meeting with my PhD student - I've missed these (he was away at an internship at a national lab last quarter). He does really cool work and has big ideas, and I attempted to convince him that he's ready enough to consider defending his PhD in early June. We'll see! We're working on getting him lined up with his next job - I'm writing him letters for three major postdocs, and also reaching out to my networks in Canada and Europe to see if anyone has a position that'll be open around the right time. We also talk about an annoying set of reviews on one of his journal articles - two of the reviewers have contradictory opinions on major revisions needed, and the editor will not do their job and step in to break a tie, so we tried making one reviewer happy and of course the other one got pissed, so we tried a compromise and now both are angry. Ugh. We're almost ready to withdraw the paper and resubmit elsewhere. But! My student's keeping a good sense of humor about the whole thing (it helps that he's going to graduate with a half-dozen first-author papers under his belt, no matter what).
Next, day two of the faculty interview! Yes, it's the same guy, and yes, it's two 8AM-8:30PM days. Grueling. He gives a really cool chalk talk about some of his future research ideas and we all chat for a while before giving him a break and launching into our emergency faculty meeting. Looks like a hiring freeze and an attempt to keep things business as usual until we know how bad things are going to be. Not much else we can do, so we all sort of nervously reassure each other and go on our way.
As part of the search committee, I'm now up to perform the exit interview for our exhausted candidate! He asks some great questions and we're all very jovial, which is a great note to end on.
Back to the office! Before I head home, I want to finish up my grading and also submit reimbursement requests for my travel last week as well as yesterday's dinner. Manage to get both done by quarter past five! Phew. Tomorrow's a big day of meetings, so it's time to head home.

10 years ago I posted my first fanfic. I had zero exceptions going in. I just wanted to write some angsty silly lil stories about some scientists from a marvel show I was obessed with at the time.
I had just finished high school and it was... it wasn't great tbh. I'd barely any friends, and so in the summer of 2014 I spend far far longer on a certain website than I care to admit.
And in December, I posted an idea I'd had for a number of months.
I didn't expect much, maybe a few kudos and some comments. In fact, I can't even remember how well the fic was initially received but I continued to write. I only did it as I found it fun. I wasn't expecting anything from it.
I wasn't expecting friends from all around the world. Friends who laughed and cried with me. Friends who I've been privileged to meet and travel with. Friends who supported me when I cared for a terminally ill family member and friends who helped me with my undergraduate dissertation when my supervisor ghosted me and went to Canada (and also wouldn’t let me right about otters. It's been 6.5 years and yes, I'm still bitter). They've helped me with job applications and comforted me when I failed another driving test.
They've been with me through the highs and the lows of the last ten years and I hope they're able to say the same of me. They have made my life so much better 💕 and for that I am forever thankful for them.
Here's to the next decade.

Hope for the present, not the future
Reading the previous post on this blog by Christina, I can’t help but feel… a lot of déja vu, actually. I don’t mean to be blasé at all, because everything that Christina alludes to and talks about in that article is concretely, depressingly relatable. From this side of the Atlantic, I’ve been grimly avoiding looking too deeply into what “Project 2025” entails, because honestly? If it happens, it will happen and I won’t be able to do anything even if I know every up-to-date detail about it, so why borrow the trouble? I have enough in my own life (and country’s politics) already, but being geographically situated next to America is really uncomfortable, in that their problems are almost simultaneously ours, and if they’re not, the entangled political-economic-sociocultural mess makes it that way. And yet my reaction to news of upheaval, disruption, and impending doom is to say “okay” and then go back to my little solarpunk ways of living and being. Given all of the strife that bombards my consciousness on a daily basis, why am I still writing hopelessly naïve articles about compassion and optimism et cetera on the internet? It’s a serious question, not really a rhetorical one. I wrote this article to see if I could come up with an answer; I think I recognized a few different factors, but I’m curious to know what you think after reading through the article. Let me know in the comments.
My father is quite sure that Trump is going to annex Canada,* given our reservoirs of freshwater, and the fact that history is rhyming pretty hard right now in his view as the child of immigrants who left their home after the ravages of World War 2. That one started with Germany annexing Austria, and look how that went. He’s not alone in that opinion, either. However, and perhaps this is the anti-anxiety medication and antidepressants speaking, wars have happened before, a lot, and are happening now, a lot, and people living and dying violently happens pretty much every day; it might just be our turn next. Sucks to suck, but that just seems to be the way of the world, and living on this planet means running the risk of The Bad Thing Happening. Hm, maybe it’s post-car-accident trauma or whatever, but random happenings (not even malice aforethought!) ruins peoples’ lives every day and that’s the way of the world.
Maybe I’m more positive because my family (both sides; my Oma and Opa lived through the war as well before coming to Canada) lived through an apocalypse** that was a political violent upheaval and war in Europe; they were poor farmers already, they had nothing when the politicians decided that the war had ended, and they still managed to make a pretty good life for themselves and their families in the aftermath. So I’ve seen that people can live through these things, and their lives do get better. Eventually. You have to scrimp and save and deal with racist bullshit and work menial jobs for a good long while, but I am programmed to believe that you make it there in the end, because I am living proof of it. So I might be biased, and too focused on that end result.
Or it might be because I recently spent six years studying post-apocalyptic fiction and have read through a myriad of imagined ends … as well as the imagined worlds that come after those ends. Grant you, a lot of those worlds are pretty terrible places to exist! But they do exist. And there are people (the protagonists that we follow) who are working to make it a better place. Kind of like solarpunks are now, actually. To tl;dr the takeaway of the fourth chapter of my dissertation in a very blasé way, horrible death is already a foregone conclusion in the post-disaster/-apocalypse scenarios, so the best thing to do is to make life as good as possible for the people around you for as long as you can to the best of your abilities until you expire.
Looking at the news, it’s easy to conclude that the world is full of doom and gloom and awfulness. Just following the reports coming out of Gaza and the Congo alone makes it pretty hard to imagine humanity acting worse than we already are. But it’s not actually all of humanity committing war crimes and exploiting children and adults with literal slave labour. There happens to be a lot of people who think that behaviour is abhorrent, and are organizing against the inhumane treatment of others (including earth others); there are, in fact, many communities of caring individuals who will stand up for human rights. I don’t think it’s incendiary to say “Hm, maybe you shouldn’t hurt someone else even if they’ve hurt you.” I feel like this is something we try to teach our children and bake into our narratives of who is actually heroic and who isn’t.
The people in charge might be okay with the cost of their political agenda being human suffering, but it helps to keep in mind that, in many cases, they’re a pretty small percentage of a pretty large amount of people. It’s true that in a lot of the so-called democracies we have in the Global North right now, there is a lot of support for terrible people with terrible ideas - but it is also good to keep in mind that the political systems we operate in are, each of them, abysmal. As the saying goes, “democracy is the worst political system, aside from all the other ones.” Jokes aside, reading about the stats of First Past The Post elections, voter suppression, and more can be at the same time disheartening as it is encouraging: there are good people in the world, but a lot of their votes do not count for much … if they can vote at all.
Despite that, I think it is important to participate in one’s political system, no matter where they are located. Especially at the municipal level - that is where I find that some of the most progressive, exciting work is being done. In my opinion, if you aren’t especially thrilled about government, it’s not really very smart to disengage from it, because involved or not, you’ll still fall victim to those who manipulate the political system and you will not know how to fight back. Sun-Tzu says to “know thy enemy” and I’m not suggesting you embark on an entire political science degree, but if you have the capacity for it, participating in direct democracy, attending council meetings, volunteering with a local union or political organization will give you the skills you need to understand and become familiar with the policies affecting your life … and also give you the tools with which to change things. This piece (article and full poem “To Throw a Wrench in the Blood Machine”) by Kyle Tran Myhre discusses voting as just one tool in a toolkit in more detail, in a very nuanced although US-politics centric way, and the line “But those who fight monsters have taught me: short-term and long-term thinking are not mutually exclusive” is very relatable. Solarpunk is about both-and, not either/or.
People survive dark and dangerous times by organizing, by reaching out to each other, by enacting practices of care. Maybe caring for you takes the form of making a poster for your local tenants’ union and NOT going to the rally. Maybe it’s watering the little tree next to your bus stop in a heat wave. Maybe it’s organizing a neighbourhood potluck, or just showing up to the one that someone else organized, signalling solidarity with your presence. I have found that being a body that is present is often such a boon to an organizer, regardless of whether or not your participation goes beyond that.
This essay is rather wander-y and I hope not too Pollyannaish. But I’ve had the sinking feeling that life was only ever going to get worse since I was 23; that’s over a decade that I’ve had to get used to this expectation of future ruin psychically, so perhaps that’s coming out. I don’t really expect things to get better, and I don’t know that I ever have. The only thing that really interrupted my internal narrative of cynicism and doomerism was solarpunk! And I still have to dose myself up with it, deliberately choose to reframe my mindset, whenever I start to spiral. Because I do, a lot, when I think about futures. There’s a reason I’m medicated - there’s nothing off with my brain chemistry, though; instead, everything’s off with the world. I marvel that more people are not clinically depressed or diagnosed with anxiety given the state of things.
As far as I can tell, my hope is thus a very present one: it is sparked by other humans who get together in groups to make life better for other people right now. Life can be terrible, miserable, and dark. The universe can seem vast and uncaring. But somewhere there’s a soup kitchen, and a coalition of people writing their government officials for more affordable housing supports, and they’re caring in this moment about the things that are also happening in this moment and the people who live around them now, and they are not deciding not to act because of a calculation based on a possible future outcome (although certainly that is part of their assessment of the situation, it is not the deciding factor). So I might not be part of those groups, but just knowing that they exist and are working towards justice but also being just now and kind now and acting with compassion now… maybe sometimes that’s what I need to hold on to in order to keep the dark at bay.
I want to write one more paragraph that talks about why then, for me, solarpunk is more oriented towards the now, not to the future. I think I needed to start with a solarpunk that dreamed of possible futures so that I could actually begin to see how I could work in the now, and solarpunk futurism gives me a goal. But personally, solarpunk presents is where it’s at.

*I find it darkly funny that our next prime minister is almost guaranteed to be the alt-right-courting Conservative politician Pierre Poilievre, who has on many occasions criticized our current PM for weakening / destroying / doing bad things to our relationship with America (economic/political/etc). If Trump gets in, Polievre will have to deal with him first hand - and he will either welcome foreign troops with open arms (as many Canadians wish they were Americans, oddly enough) or bumble his way into being bravely run over by tanks.
**I remember interviewing my Beppe in grade three about her childhood experience of WWII and she talked about evacuating down roads where there were dead and bloated cows and human bodies (mostly soldiers) torn apart on the side of the road. Before the end of the war they were eating tulip bulbs and potato peelings in the basement of their home while Nazi troops occupied the main floor. Very apocalyptic. I figured everyone’s grandparents had stories like this, though, and by the time I was fourteen I was so sick of hearing about World War Two, because our history curriculum seemed kind of obsessed. I got it at home AND at school. Ugh, apocalypse, whatever, let me get back to reading my Animorphs plz.

You never think it's going to happen to you until it does.
Hi, my name is Luke and I'm 24. As of two days ago, I spent the last of my money on rent and I have precisely £27 to my name. I can't afford food at all any more - let alone rent and bills.
I know the world is so full of despair atm. Especially with what's going in in America. But I beg you to give me a chance, midst it all.
Depressingly, I only ever seem to make sales when I'm in a dire situation. Ideally, I need to make sales before then so I don't end up in the dire situation in the first place, but alas. I'm poor and hungry and can't heat my home. I'm wracked with guilt every time I fail to make progress on the project because I'm so damn focused on survival I have little time for what brings me joy in this world. And that's depressing!
I dislike having to make posts like this - but as I said at the start of this post - no-one ever thinks it's going to happen to them. If you can spare some cash, please consider buying a print or my dissertation to help me buy food (see here for my prints and diss). I have plans to introduce badges to my site as well - but sadly due to new postage laws they'll be UK only. However. I can ship prints to Canada, the US, UK and EU (with a view to shipping to Aus and NZ soon, amongst other places, if Royal Mail'll let me).
I hope one day to be able to make a post saying that I got out of poverty and am no longer surviving but thriving. Until then, your support is quite literally putting bread on the table. I want more than anything right now to be able to get back to doing what I love. But I cannot do so presently.
If you're about in Swansea on the 7th of February at 7pm, please consider coming to Elysium Gallery for the opening of Queer Land, an exhibition which my art is in! In spite of these circumstances I find myself in - I refuse to stop creating. Down, yes - but not out.
So please, please if you can, please reblog and purchase a print if you are able. It will help me wo much and I'm infinitely grateful to those who do.

People with NPD are frustrated by the term "narcissistic abuse" because it's closely linked to NPD itself. When they seek resources for recovery or coping strategies, they're bombarded with information on "recovering from a narcissist" rather than guidance tailored to individuals with NPD.
It's not harmful to label abuse as emotional, physical, sexual, or even using a new term like "egotistical abuse." But when it's labeled as "narcissistic abuse," it can create problems for people with NPD, regardless of intention. I understand you'll likely dismiss this, but I hope you'll take a moment to think about it.
Thank you for being patient for all the time I took to craft this reply, I really wanted to give your ask the time it deserves.
I looked into resources connecting NPD with narcissistic abuse and I did find a few. Most of them were articles written by therapists in single practises, blogspot articles or other uncritiqued works, or dissertations written by students in counselling and psychiatry. Obviously any misinformation is bad, especially when it's coming from places that should be reputable like therapists and universities. I wouldn't say in my research what I found was evidence that narcissism is "closely linked" with NPD in any reputable circles though. In todays day and age anyone can have an opinion and make it available for free on the publicly available Internet. It's our own responsibility to educate ourselves and make sure we are leaning on credible sources to form our opinions.
Speaking of the modern age of the Internet, the last part of your ask interested me and I decided to test your theory and run a little experiment.
When people with NPD seek online resources to for support with their disorder, are they are instead met with information for narcissistic abuse survivors?
I created 5 phrases a person suffering narcissistic abuse might search and 5 a person with NPD might search and put each of them into Google.
I used a VPN to manually change my my browsing location to 5 English speaking countries (Ireland, Canada, The USA, Australia and England) and, clearing the cache between every search to reduce uncontrolled variables, searched each phrase to simulate what a person may find in each of those locations when looking for support online.
I decided to see what results came up when searching "narcissist help" "narcissist support" "narcissism recovery" "narcissism signs" and "narcissistic abuse" to emulate what a person suffering from narcissistic abuse might search when seeking support. What came up on the first page of google were mostly resources tailored to support a person experiencing narcissistic abuse in all 5 locations.
Then I searched "NPD help" "NPD support" "NPD signs" "NPD recovery" and "Narcissistic Personality Disorder" to emulate what a person suffering with NPD might search while seeking support. What came up on the first page of Google were only resources tailored to support a person seeking treatment, information or diagnosis for NPD in all 5 locations.
It seems to me that when using the correct vocabulary for their disorder, people with NPD can find support, resources and information relevant to them fairly easily online. Even though they may share a common keyword that victims of narcissistic abuse may also be searching.
From the small test I did to see if your hypothesis held true, it doesn't look like narcissistic abuse awareness harms people with NPD by altering the type of information they may find online at all. My results suggest that the only reason a person with NPD may struggle to find resources when searching for them online is if they've been led to believe that narcissism is the correct term for their disorder.
If people with NPD are led to believe that "narcissist" and "narcissism" are synonyms for their disorder, they may be using these keywords when seeking online resources for diagnosis, treatment or support online. This could explain why people with NPD are reporting that when looking for resources for their disorder online, they're repeatedly finding resources better suited for people looking for information on narcissistic abuse.
The evidence suggests that actually, it's people like you, who are arguing that narcissistic abuse awareness harms people with NPD because narcissism and NPD are synonyms, might actually be the ones harming people with NPD in this way.
I'd love to know if these stats are repeatable, so if you'd like to do the same test and let me know your findings, get back to me any time.

{Here they are: some of my other JJBA OCs.}
{They all live in Canada.}
{To give a breakdown:
First is Minerva Novoselic (any pronouns), generally just known as 'Nirv'. They're fairly close with Payton. He's American, born to Croatian parents, but ran away due to complicated circumstances related to being a Stand User and ended up in Canada somehow. She's apagender and apapronomial, meaning they have no strong feelings about gender or how they are referred to. They would identify their orientation as uranic, denoting attraction to masculinity and androgyny, but not femininity. Their Stand, 「In Utero」, is a heart-shaped biscuit tin that contains... something. The thing is that if Nirv opens it, it simply functions as any other biscuit tin would. It's when someone else opens the tin that things get a little... crazy.
Second is Payton Ramora (any pronouns), a rough street kid who came to mainland America from Puerto Rico with family, and then ended up alone in Canada, living off the streets until meeting Nirv and Loituma. They frequently try to 'rob' people, often in a very flippant manner, and also frequently pickpocket and steal with help from their Stand. They're never seen without a knife in their hand, and despite the fact that their hat is placed precariously and their hair (which is draped around their shoulder and covers most of their face) does not appear to be fastened to anything, neither ever seem to fall out of place. Their Stand is complicit in most of this. Fascinatingly, 「Misery Business」 controls grip strength. It can use this to make things unable to be loosened. Payton’s knife cannot be forcibly removed from their hand because their grip cannot be loosened. Their hair is, most likely, clipped in place in the back with a tiny clip. No matter how shitty the hold/clip, it cannot be loosened any further, meaning their hair will never come undone. Even though the whole hairstyle is not clipped the whole way through, it’s still part of the same clip, so no part will slip out of place much. Not only can it (like 「Kraft Work」, in a way) make a grip unable to loosen, but it can also make a grip unable to hold, making it versatile for use on others. Payton is apapronomial and apagender, like Nirv. Their orientation can be described as triniy, denoting attraction to primarily femininity, androgyny and neutrality, and loss often, masculinity.
Third is Loituma Autere (she/her), a Finnish (by birth) and Canadian (naturalised) dual citizen. She lives in Canada with her aunt, who is fairly influential, and her uncle. She's a girl, presumably cis, and sapphic. Her Stand is 「Dissertation Polkka」, and it's a bit complex to explain. In short, it connects any two open gateways. A gateway is defined as any cleanly defined opening, entryway or frame. This includes doorways, window frames, box openings, fridge doorways and cabinet doorways. Every "frame" is considered a pair of gateways, an "entry" gateway through which you go in, and an "exit" gateway, through which you exit the frame. By connecting separate entry and exit gateways, going through one gateway will result in coming out of the other. This can be used to travel far distances, even across countries, as any open gateway can count.
Fourth is Char Goodman (she/her). She's Canadian-born, half-Cambodian, and is known to be very detached from other people. She's got an odd fascination with death and decay, and in that vein, her Stand, 「Good Charlotte」, controls rot based on movement and proximity, by turning the pages of a book the Stand manifests as. I've described it in the above chart as, essentially, a poor man's 「Green Day」. She is greyaroace (sometimes also called greyrose), denoting that while she feels that aroace describes part of her experience, it does not do so fully, and greygender, denoting a weak attachment to gender in general.
Fifth is Tokyo (she/it), who is... a bit strange. It's not really her fault. She was the sole survivor of some horrific accident and touted as a medical miracle for having survived. And as one may expect, some unprofessional personnel and a medical miracle may lead to a bit of malpractice. So why does she look so fucked up? Because she just escaped the hospital, basically. The accident she survived set her back mentally, so she's a bit fucked up there too. Tokyo is not actually her name, it's just where she's from. She cannot speak English very well but still speaks Japanese just fine. I describe her gender as Vanistic, a gender related to one's whole body or full face being bandaged and what lies beneath those bandages is meant to be kept underneath. To clarify further, the bandages as they are now were not applied by medical staff but applied by her herself after she'd escaped. Her Stand, 「Unravel」, strips away layers of a person's identity to allow Tokyo to learn about them, and unravels the victim's physical form and perception partially in the process.
Sixth is Américo Rechazo (he/him), a Puerto Rican who frankly is not quite sure what he's doing in Canada. Hell, most of his background is shrouded in mystery, even to him, and it might be related to his Stand, 「Dirty Little Secret」, which causes secrets that are subject to broken confidence to be quickly forgotten by everyone - including the person who originally told the secret! He's male, but quoisexual, which perhaps implies that he's also forgotten his own orientation...
Seventh is Lundi Fog (she/xem), possibly of Kenyan and English descent but has never indicated that she's ever lived anywhere but Canada. Xe identifies with gendergoth (a gender best described as "goth") and nightmaregender (a xenogender related to nightmares, bad dreams, illusions, or other 'horrors' that happen in one's sleep), and identifies xyr orientation as xenxic, denoting xenic attraction to women and those who are woman-aligned (XLW). Her Stand, 「Red Tide」, well... I'm not quite sure what it does yet. But my current idea is that it can manifest whatever dream someone's had last, or whatever dream they're currently having, or otherwise manifest objects from whatever dream they've had last. But I'm not sure yet. All I know is it's dream-related. Lundi lives with Xavier.
Eighth up, Xavier (he/him) is a Canadian-born boy with no particular other heritage, being essentially just a nth-generation French Canadian. He's neurodivergent, perhaps autistic, with a particular interest in music. He's Lundi's roommate and works part-time as a DJ. I've described his gender as neurotix-boy, denoting that he has a masculine gender that's in some way influenced by neurodivergence. He's also bisexual. Above, I've described his Stand, 「D.A.N.C.E」 as simply "rhythm mime". To put it into further detail, Xavier can make anything he's miming out can manifest tangibly so long as he's keeping rhythm to something. It's quite useful for him.
Lastly, April Fools (he/they), is an ethnically Russian-Japanese kid, though he's legally Czech. He's demiboy and a gendercollector wrapped under the label of layergender, a gender which is (to nobody's surprise) built in layers, but obviously, I could not fit all of his genders on here. Jestergender. Definitely jestergender. He's also Demi-Bisexual. I've already explained his Stands in another post. }

I've seen enough of these types of posts and comments to know I have new lurkers.

👋 Hi.
I'm Buttacake or Auntie. If you're curious about me, I have been an internet troll and hockey fan for about 30 years. I fell in love with hockey when I was in high school; my town had a junior hockey team. I started my trolling career at my local library when I signed up on Excite chat to talk about the NBA. I started trolling hockey players, specifically, when I was an undergrad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
It just so happens that I am an applied sociologist with degrees in history, law, and sociology; I wrote my research dissertation on white Christian Nationalism. For the last decade, I was employed as a social worker working with youth, then in a forensic psychiatric hospital.
While working at that hospital, I experienced a workplace assault, which was poorly treated and ultimately resulted in my having a permanent brain injury. I went through several months of rehab to relearn how to walk and talk properly; a lot of that rehab I did on my own by myself because I was injured during the pandemic, and most available medical resources were targeting the pandemic.
When I finished that rehab program, the psychologist asked me to share my rehab story with others. I felt uncomfortable about it, so I went to the water to pray about it, and made the most random decision that I would start that help by helping Jamie Benn, who was my favorite player at the time.
That resulted in his bounce back season. I then started helping others on the Stars. Even ol' PDB from my social media accounts. Last playoffs, I helped them overcome that 0-2 deficit to beat Vegas, then to go on to beat Colorado. By the time they reached Edmonton, I was exhausted. Edmonton won.
I have (had) a soft spot for many of these players. Some I call my nephews. When Dallas was eliminated and Edmonton advanced, Florida went ahead in the series, but then the Oilers came back to push things to 7.
Before game 7, I hopped into Matthew Tkachuk's DMs and started messaging the Panthers account. I was able to help them overcome the Oilers to win.
I thought all of this would generate interest to my account. My intention was to share and help others, and I thought to use hockey to do it.
I also had a deeper intent. I thought that, as a crippled Black woman who has never stepped foot onto that ice, I still had something valuable to share. The beauty of diversity. It just so happened that as a social scientist
The problem is that I am an attractive older BLACK woman, and there are certain women so insecure with themselves that they do not want folks to know about this QUEEN, so occasionally, there's a push to delegitimize my work as 'crazy' while trying to push me off the internet by using my disability against me.
It didn't help that in this vacuum, others steal my shit and claim it as their own. Just like the screenshot above. That's from the Dallas Stars subreddit. To reveal me now is to reveal that liar for who they are.
So folks will steal from the crazy, delusional BLACK woman. That reddit post is point for point my Tumblr blog from a few days ago.
I am spiteful, vindictive, stubborn, and RIGHT.
I persisted in my project despite NUMEROUS ableist attacks while folks stole my shit. The same people labeling me as crazy were the same people who were stealing my shit.
I keep things open and public for your scrutiny. I ain't fucking crazy. I am gifted. Smarter than most, and I used all of my experiences to help several players.
And, I do it from this account.
By now, y'all have seen me help other players, including whole ass teams (stares at Canada). I have special nicknames for them, and I reckon they're smart enough to search for their own tags. I know the players lurk, absorb, then they choose to accept my recommendations or not.
Many of them have.
So, because I had to deal with several bitches over several months who targeted me using my disability, all I ask is that if you find my points valid because the players most certainly have, can you please attribute my original thoughts right on back to me.

Government Health Ctr Government Health Centers: Research Questions and Hypothesis Opportunities for public health vary considerably from one nation to another. This is even true of westernized and industrialized nations, where political, economic and corporate culture will have a determinant impact on how public health is pursued and how access is accommodated. The research proposed for a consequent dissertation would examine these distinctions as they concern the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. Each of the four nations noted offers a variance of public and government-sponsored health centers, however the nature, accessibility and adequacy of these centers also vary considerably. As this dissertation proceeds with an examination of these variances, it will be with an emphasis on defining the differences in operational orientation, emergency preparedness, available funding and the demographics which require and benefit most from such centers. Research Questions: Primary Research Question: Research questions are framed in order to promote a comparative discussion on the public health orientation of each of the four nations denoted above. First, the research is driven by a primary research question. Subsequently, the research will consider the implications of several subordinate research questions. The Primary Research Question asks the following: What is the nature of the relationship between each nation's orientation toward universal or nationalized healthcare as this contributes to the accessibility, availability and quality of its government health centers? Subordinate Research Questions: In order to promote a nuanced research endeavor, this question is girded by the inclusion of several sub-questions. These will help to direct the focus of the research as we proceed to either prove or discount the hypothesis presented hereafter. What impact does the political orientation of the respondent nation levy on the presence or absence of government health centers? What connections can be empirically observed between a governmental philosophy regarding healthcare availability and the resource availability for government health centers? What demographics are served by government health centers? Does this orientation differ from one nation to the next? What is the connection between demographic need and the accessibility of government health centers? How does the availability and quality of government health centers impact accessibility? Hypothesis: The primary hypothesis driving this research centers on the presumption that certain distinctive differences in a nation's ideological orientation toward the accessibility of healthcare will have a determinant effect on the way that said nations make available public health centers and the quality which is invested into said centers. Therefore, the research proceeds from the assertion that the ideological orientation of each of the respective nations considered toward universal or nationalized healthcare is a primary determinant of the accessibility, availability and quality of government health centers. The research will proceed to the prove the argument that a greater affiliation with universal or nationalized healthcare principles will be proportional with a nation's greater accessibility, availability and quality of government health centers. https://www.paperdue.com/customer/paper/government-sponsored-health-centers-53920#:~:text=Logout-,GovernmentSponsoredHealthCenters,-Length2pages Read the full article
