I’m recently engaged and hoping to budget for a nice wedding! After reading the article that y’all have about weddings, I noticed that it was mostly DIY and calling in favors from friends. What advice could you give to someone that wants to splurge a little on a wedding and wants to save enough money in three years for the big day?
With three years to save, that's plenty of time to build up a big nest egg for your wedding! Plus, that'll give you time to plan for discounts and research the best deals for the big elaborate event of your dreams. Remember the off-season discount, which had the biggest impact on Piggy's wedding.
In other words: plan ahead. The biggest way to lose money in event planning is by waiting until the last minute. Here's more:

Can I ask what it would be like to get married to La Squadra? What would a wedding with them be like? :3
I love this! Regardless of any cultural traditions that might entail between you and the La Squadra member you're marrying, here's how I think it will go.
Let's assume the boys have actual money to do this.
Tumblr media
Formaggio would definitely leave most of the planning to you. Your wedding would most likely be at a hotel or venue where everything could be done at the same time for convenience sake and he’ll just go with the flow on what you plan on doing. However, don’t expect things to be completely serious or fancy. Even if you go with white-tie fine dining vibe, Formaggio will add his humor and style to it. That doesn’t matter though; this was the man you fell in love with and he will run it by you first. You can put him in a stiff suit and make him take etiquette classes, but he’s going to to break the tension in his own way at least once and remind you to enjoy your wedding. Whether that be his very sappy and funny vows, having soccer merch as part of the wedding favors, or using his cats as the ring bearer, he’s going to make your wedding memorable to guests one way or another. Most importantly, he’s making sure you’re enjoying yourself and constantly feel his love both in front of the wedding guests and in private, so expect a butt squeeze and some funny wedding photos during the reception. He’s the guy that’s going to be parading around and being like “that’s my spouse! I love my spouse!” and getting hyphy as the wedding progresses with his groomsmen. Rest assured he will still be on his best behavior regardless.
Tumblr media
Illuso wants a destination wedding. It could be somewhere in the snowy Alps of Switzerland, the hot deserts of Egypt, or maybe as far as the tropical islands of Oceania. Wherever it is, regardless of whether the location fits the theme, you know it’s going to scream luxury. You want a diamond encrusted crown to wear with a cathedral veil? He demands it must be custom made. You want the groomsmen to wear velvet suits in the desert? The boys will have to suffer for you. You want a 20-foot flower wall consisting of all your favorite flowers? The florist can figure out how to make sure they don’t wilt in the tropical heat. Your wedding takes inspiration from high-profile celebrity weddings and he’s deeply involved in making sure the vision for the wedding matches the reality. Not only that, he wants to show off and this wedding is merely an opportunity to rub it in his team’s face that he has the best wedding and the best spouse. He might be all smug and bragging about how amazing the wedding has been cordinated but his persona immediately drops once he sees you walking down the aisle. This man who claims he won’t shed a tear is going to be a crying mess once you step out.
Tumblr media
Pesci would keep it small like a backyard micro wedding and reception. He prefers this mainly because he wants this to be something shared with just the people you and him love in addition to it being budget friendly. The wedding itself feels more like a get-together, with the reception being more of a potluck and everyone contributed to helping out regarding that, decorations, or other costs. If you want something a little more extravagant or slightly bigger than a backyard, he would be down to do a simple beach wedding at a nearby bed and breakfast just out of town that he rents out so it would be easy to perform the wedding and have some privacy as well. Pesci is down for a DIY wedding; he likes the arts and craft aspects and doesn’t mind spending nights helping you buy materials and assemble them as the day approaches. It’s another way he could spend time with you and he likes getting himself involved in the wedding planning if you let him. He’s a nervous wreck seeing you walk down the aisle for the first time but he’s able to hold it together after reminding himself to only focus on you. For the rest of the day, he doesn’t want to let go of your hand. If he wasn’t so shy, he would be shouting from the mountains saying how happy he was marrying you.
Tumblr media
Prosciutto is all about that old money glamour. If you’re into the academia/royalty-core/east coast rich aesthetic, this wedding is for you. He’ll rent an entire estate villa and make great use of the gardens and ballrooms to fit your fairytale or vintage fantasty. A special wedding coordinator will be with you the entire time to make sure everything is running smoothly and properly. The guest list is big but also vetted to ensure that everyone is following dresscode, manners, and security is even there to make sure those that try to ruin your special day are “escorted” out discretely. Hours were spent on meetings, rehersals, dance practices, and even etiquitte classes to make sure your wedding rivals that of today’s royal families and other high-society members. No expenses were spared, and everything was done in what he believes is tasteful yet luxurious. Prosciutto also makes sure everything is preserved post-wedding so you both can look back on it one day, whether that be photo-ops, your vows, anything that can have both of you look back fondly on after the celebrations. Even with the enormous multi-tier cake, ballet dancers twirling at the altar, and bright fireworks to end the night, his eyes will be on you and only you. Throughout the whole wedding he never let go of your hand. His team mentions how this is the only day you would see him smile the biggest.
Tumblr media
Melone prefers to straight up elope if given the opportunity. He wouldn’t mind if you prefer having a proper ceremony and reception planned out but know that he’s the guy who would be down to just get married without the frills and bells. It could be a simple Tuesday afternoon at home when he will pop the question while you’re making lunch and then one hour later you’re at a local courthouse both wearing your Sunday best, exchanging vows, and having random strangers you just picked from the streets as your witnesses. It’s like a movie montage: two lovebirds running down the street, picking up a bouquet from a flower stand, before catching the last appointment with the justice of peace and then driving off to the sunset on a motorcycle. Even though it’s very simple and straightforward, it doesn’t mean Melone is doing this as a one and done thing. In fact, he already planned his vows in advance and had that ring in his pocket for weeks before he popped the question. During your short ceremony, he tells you that being married isn’t just for a piece of paper or to perform some procedure but to show you that he is completely committed to you and promose to continue loving, honoring, and caring for you as long as he lived. He doesn’t need a flashy event to show you that; this is enough for him.
Tumblr media
Ghiaccio is a simple man, albeit would complain about certain traditions if his mind doesn’t get why they need to be done. However, he is still respectful nonetheless and spends much of the wedding planning worrying about whether things are going the way you want it. His wedding is small and simple but consisted of your closest friends and family attending a  courthouse ceremony followed by a reception from a rented out restaurant of both your choosing. Throughout the whole planning process, he’s mostly hands off but would end up arguing with caterers who either disrepected you or refuse to not do what you wanted. He looks extremely awkward and stiff in his suit and is constantly a mess ever since your engagement to the point that you think that maybe he’s getting cold feet. But once you’re holding his hand at the courthouse and it’s time for vows, his face suddenly softens and his voice is steady for the first time in several months. In the clearest, most sincere voice he promises you that he would love, cherish, respect, and honor you until the very end, and you were reminded once again why you fell in love with this man. His team teases him for acting rather sentimental, but he surprisngly doesn’t argue back. Instead, he’s quietly watching you the rest of the day with the warmest smile in the world.
Tumblr media
Risotto has a similar wedding to Prosciutto’s but that’s mainly becuase he is a mafia leader who needs to present himself to society and the rest of Passione a certain way, and having an extravagant wedding is one of the many ways to do so. The wedding itself would also scream luxury and regal while following the most current wedding trends in order to be considered on par with what is expected for a mafia wedding. Unless you want to be directly involved in plan, he’ll handle hiring the best planners, caterers, and whatnot to ease the stress and know what is needed to meet or exceed all  expectations for a man his status. However, he is still a rather private man and would throw a secret civil wedding ceremony with just you, him, and the officiant so that you could have that simple single moment of privacy together before the more grandiose ceremony to get over with. The two of you are only wearing your favorite outfits, sharing vows that only you and he would know, and enjoying the night alone with only him soon after. He’s stoic throughout the big wedding celebrations, occasionally baring a smile for cameras and for appearances, but you had the luxury of seeing his actual smile during your secret ceremony.
Tumblr media
Sorbet and Gelato have a rather normal, ordinary wedding. I’m not going to do one about what it would be like to marry both because I think they would only want to marry each other. Typical wedding at a venue where the ceremony and reception would be held with their closest friends and families. I like to think they’re going to wear matching designer suits with equally expensive designer rings to exchange and very polished shoes to dance in soon after. The only bizarre thing that would happen is how the wedding is officiated. That one headcanon someone made about the two of them coercing a Catholic priest to officiate their marriage in good o’l Catholic 1990s Italy because they wanted it it be legal “in God’s eyes” lives in my head rent-free and I absolutely think Sorbet and Gelato would do this one way or another. Seeing them together would be no different than how they show PDA to their team, albeit way more than usual. It’s a bit annoying to their teammates but they let it slide- it’s their big day. Plus, they can handle a few hours of this for a few weeks of peace and quiet when the lovebirds go on their honeymoon to God-knows-where.

DIY Clay Christmas Stars
Tumblr media
Air Dry Clay Christmas Decorations
Clay ornaments are easy to make and a lot of fun too. They’re a great project to get both the big and little kids involved in the run-up to the festive season.
You can make them in a variety of shapes and sizes. Hang them individually or string them up together as a pretty garland. Make big ones and use them as gift tags on bags or teeny tiny mini ones and make a garland. Either way, they’re sure to impress.
Tumblr media
Supplies:
Air Dry Clay
Rolling Pin
Parchment Paper/Greaseproof Paper
Stamps (I used these ones)
Cable knit knitting or anything else you want to use to make an impression in the clay,
Star-Shaped Cookie Cutter
Sandpaper
And some ribbon or string
Directions
Tumblr media
1. Start by taking your air dry clay and knead until soft and pliable.
2. Roll out your clay to about 3-5mm thick. The thicker the clay the longer it takes to dry.
*  To prevent the clay from sticking to your work surface you may need to roll it out onto some parchment paper.
3. Use a star cookie cutter to cut out your clay shapes.
Tumblr media
4. Carefully peel away the remaining clay.
Tumblr media
5. Use a straw or pen lid to make a hole in the point of each star.
Make sure you don't make the hole too close to the edge of your shape. The clay needs to be thick enough not to snap when the ribbon is threaded through.
6. Leave to dry for around 24-48 hours. As the clay dries and the water evaporates it will turn from a pale grey to white.
How fast the clay dries depends on the weather. In warm weather, the clay dried quickly (around 24 hours) but in cold, wet weather it took up to 72 hours.
Top Tip:
Remember the thicker the clay the longer it takes to dry. If you find your clay stars curl up as they dry simply turn them over halfway through the drying process.
Tumblr media
7. Sand away any rough edges using fine sandpaper.
8. Thread some ribbon through the hole and hang.
How To Emboss Air Dry Clay.
Tumblr media
1. Take your cable-knit wool or whatever you’re using to give the clay texture and place it on top of the clay.
2. Use the rolling pin to press the wool firmly into the clay.
Make sure to apply even pressure with the rolling pin. You can always peel back a corner first to make sure you're happy with the pattern before you remove the whole thing.
3. Cut out the star shape using a cookie cutter and leave to dry like the other stars.
7. Thread on some ribbon and hang.
Tumblr media
Remember you don't have to use wool to emboss your clay. You can use stamps or anything else that will leave an impression. I used these stamps to decorate some of my stars.
Depending on the humidity and thickness of the clay it can take up to 72 hours for the clay to dry. If you don’t have the time to wait you could try using polymer clay that you can bake in the oven or how about making a simple salt dough instead?
I love these. I think they'd make great gift toppers as well as tree decorations and you could even make teeny tiny ones and string them together to make a sweet star garland.

Joel/Tess + neighbours AU
Didn't expect this one to end up close to 3k but here we are. Modern AU, rather nsfw (didn't plan that either), also on ao3.
Tess needs a change of scenery, or at least the different horrors of a middle-ring suburb. Somewhere it’ll be a little harder for her tendencies to get her in trouble, or at least different trouble, and-
On paper this is a hell of a slightly early midlife crisis, but something about her sees the words “fixer-upper” and thinks she’s watched just enough renovation shows in waiting rooms to at least turn this into a good distraction for a couple years or however it long takes her to DIY her way out of this. Never mind that she has no idea what she’s doing. She’s under-stimulated at work and kinda likes the idea of living somewhere the kids outnumber the purse dogs. This’ll be fine.
Or at least it would be if her new neighbors weren’t Those People.
She understands the appeal of outdoor maintenance, despite her own black thumbs – she killed a cactus with neglect, she was just out of town for a destination wedding, those things are supposed to survive months but it didn’t last a long weekend – and lack of interest in yardwork. She gets that most of the neighborhood does things the same way she’s inclined to, keeps it all neat and maybe a hanging basket out front but not overkill. But of course she goes and moves in next to someone who clearly has compulsions or something, whose yard looks like someone actually planned it, and that’s just the part visible from the front, their backyard has what looks like a complicated vegetable-growing setup and-
Tess is prepared to hate them on sight, whoever they are, whatever kind of people they otherwise are and it’s coinflip odds on sweethearts or assholes and she’s never been lucky. She is also prepared to spend the next couple months as indoors as possible, questioning every home-décor choice ever made in the 1970s, she’s pretty sure part of the reason the house was unusually cheap is the last owner died here – in their sleep and their mid-80s, if she heard right, but still – and good grief somebody liked orange a little too much and-
How she managed to get this place instead of one of those industrial demolition companies, she’s not quite sure, but she’s going to make it work.
She’s having a moment of frustration a couple weeks in – most of a weekend down an internet rabbit hole does not make her any more confident about removing what could politely be described as a chandelier – and it occurs to her that she doesn’t actually have a ladder high enough to safely get her hands up in that thing, and it occurs to her that Those People, who she has yet to actually interact with, probably do and will probably be horrified enough by her currently apathetic appearance to let her borrow it for a few hours. And possibly, if she brings it back without damage, other fun things she might need out of their inevitably thoroughly equipped shed and/or garage. Tess is nothing if not perceptive, and she’s half surprised she hasn’t gotten a please-make-sure-your-grass-is-even note in impeccable handwriting, and-
She’s not sure what she expects when she knocks on the door, but the man who answers – scruffy, gorgeous, just older than her enough to be hot – is somehow not it. To the extent that she has a type, this is her type, and fuck she’s finally going to add intentional homewrecking to her list of accomplishments (it doesn’t count if you don’t know for fact the other person has a tiny cute wife at home, fight her) and-
“I just moved in next door,” she says before this can get weird or she can do something fabulously reckless. “And I was wondering if you had a decent ladder I could borrow?”
Normal people do this, she tries to remind herself. Normal functional people who live in mid-ring suburbs occasionally ask favors from people nearby and it’s not weird at all. She’s used to a series of apartment complexes occupied by people who acted more like feral animals, and there’s a bit of that in her by association, but-
“What do you need it for?” the man replies, more curious than judgmental if she’s hearing him right.
“Taking down… fuck, I think somebody thought it was a chandelier but…”
Tess does not do the learned-helplessness thing, but apparently it’s obvious how far she’s in over her head. “Need an extra set of hands?”
“Never had someone I don’t know want to watch me get electrocuted,” she laughs.
“So, yes.”
She’s not going to say no, and she’s not going to waste an opportunity for what she swears will stop at light eyefucking, and she does notice there’s no indent of a wedding band on his hand but she’s seen the well-equipped truck out front and that may be more of a profession-related choice than useful information and-
The garage is as full of everything possible as she’d expected, but also a little more chaotic than everything publicly visible, and she almost has questions, and-
“Compromise,” he says like he knows what she’s thinking. “The kid’s not allowed in here.”
And now Tess has more questions, and… this is not the time, she decides, not while she’s testing the limits of someone’s patience. She can feel out the details of the personal situation later, after…
Her own living space is only neat because most of her worldly possessions are still in boxes, and there’s almost nothing in what must’ve been designed as a dining room except for the goddamned light fixture and-
“I don’t do a lot of electrical, but… you flip the fuse first?”
“Yeah. At least those were labeled.”
To be fair, she’d just meant to borrow a ladder, not make this entire project someone else’s problem, but… she’s also not complaining about that, and she’s going to have to return the favor somehow and she’s pretty damn useless as a person and-
She has a type, and how apparently competent this man is just makes her more interested, and she needs to run damage control against herself before she does anything and-
“You have time for this?” she asks, figuring that’s a safe opening.
“You mean like…”
“Anybody wondering where you are right now?” Fuck, that sounds creepy now that she’s said it, like she’s going to do something violent when the worst she’s actually thinking is how to get him under her, like-
“Kid’s doing something with her friends. That’s… it.”
Oh. Well.
Tess’s surprise must register or something, and she in general is apparently more expressive than she thinks, because her silence is enough to get her new acquaintance off the ladder and looking at her with more worry than she thinks another human has directed at her in her adult life. Oh, if this is how she makes it awkward…
“Saw your yard and I thought…”
“Kid watches too much TV. Her ideas and my hands.”
“How old?”
“Sixteen. Her mom left… a while ago. We try.”
Not objectively helpful information, Tess thinks – if anything, the implications that this man has been doing the single-parent thing impeccably for a good length of time just makes him more hot – but also exactly what she wanted to know and-
“I’m sorry if I got weird earlier. I make bad first impressions and… y’know, I try to behave but I’ve got eyes and you’re-“
“It’s alright.”
“Should’ve at least introduced myself first. Tess.”
“Joel. Nice to meet you.”
“I will… if you’re determined to save me from myself here, I will pay you. I’m not-“
“Conversation with an actual adult feels like enough.”
If she counts as an actual adult, the world is probably screwed, but…
“How much does that get me?”
* * * * *
It becomes something of a routine, after that.
Tess is determined to do as much of this minor renovation herself as she can, and turns out painting walls is a good way to burn off energy after work, but occasionally there are projects that she’s either not sure how to do or legitimately needs an extra set of hands for and that’s where the nice man next door comes in. Every time, she offers to compensate for the effort; every time, he turns her down. She’s covering materials and apparently that’s enough, and-
Every time, the thoughts about what could happen between them get a little more vivid.
They’re working on bathroom tile when she decides to actually do something about it, a project that she’d feel bad about if it wasn’t such a small space. Theoretically simple like everything else she’s tried to do, but her eye for detail isn’t great and it’s turned into her new friend doing most of it while she watches and hands him things and she probably owes him a kidney for this particular adventure alone and-
“So it’s just you here?” he asks, like he can read her damn mind and honestly she wouldn’t be surprised.
“Yeah.”
They’ve avoided most of the deep personal questions, instead talking mundane stuff like favorites, filling the space between them with whatever they can. They’re compatibly damaged people, she’s figured out that much, and he’s good like she’s not sure she is, and-
“Figured, but… had to ask.”
“Me trying to flirt with you still makes you think I’ve got somebody out there?”
“Can’t rule out an open relationship…”
Tess laughs – she does that more around him than most people, something inherently stabilizing about this dynamic they’re working out. “No judgement to anyone else, but I’m way too territorial for that. What’s mine is mine.”
He’s quiet for a while, places a few more tiles absolutely perfect, lets the tension rest. It’s not awkward, exactly, but the energy is different and-
“Understood.”
“Wasn’t saying… shit, I’m not sure if I wanna ask you out or pin you to a wall or-“
“I’d let you.”
She puts that information aside for as long as it takes to finish the project, until they’re cleaning up and she’s aware she looks good in this tank top, hair already a mess but she thinks she’d break him if he ever saw what she looks like when she tries and-
“Can I kiss you now?” she asks, just a little softer than necessary.
Joel leans down and puts his mouth on hers and it’s everything she wants, scruffy and warm and just a little hesitant, and she’s going to melt and she’s going to do something that’ll ruin them and-
“That good for you too?” Adoration in his eyes, she’s not sure what to do with this, she’s not sure-
Normally she does casual and easy to disconnect from, and she is well aware that screwing her neighbor is neither of those things and will, if it ends badly, ruin her life. But what if it doesn’t, she thinks. What if this is good? What if…
“We’ve got all the major stuff done,” she murmurs, thinking out loud. “If this gets weird…”
“You have your priorities,” he replies, almost playful.
“Been thinking about you all over me since I saw you, but… yeah.”
He takes another kiss, deeper this time, and she feels what he’s not saying, that he’s been having the same thoughts for a couple months now and wasn’t sure it was a good idea but fuck it they have nothing to lose and-
“You think I’d do all this if I didn’t like you?”
“Guess this is how I’m repaying you.” She’s seen that part coming for a while, the inevitability of it, and she doesn’t mind, she doesn’t-
“Not like that.”
“A little like that.”
She moves her body against his for emphasis, and she wants, she wants-
“Not like that,” he repeats.
“Think of it however you have to,” she replies, deciding this is as good a time as any to shed her tank top.
It’s been a while since she’s been with anyone under quite these circumstances – daylight in a hallway with someone she actually knows. A dry spell since the move hasn’t helped, enough of a crush that she’s lost interest in her previously normal routines, and-
While she’s stuck in her head, he gets her against the wall and gets on his knees for her, and she’s half confused and-
“This look like you repaying me?” he asks, hands on her waistband.
“Don’t know your preferences enough to know.”
She doesn’t push him away, and he takes that for the let’s-see-what-happens consent that it is, and… most of the men she fucks don’t go down on her, and she’s pleasantly surprised that this one wants to, and-
Something about how he undoes her makes her think he’s also on the tail end of a much longer dry spell, not that she’s complaining. She’s easy to work open, and he’s apparently as good at giving head as anything else he does, and she’s going to get herself ruined, and-
“Stay with me,” he breathes against her thigh. “Keep your eyes open.”
She doesn’t, when it matters. Something about the combination of factors gets her off faster than she’s used to, and that doesn’t stop him working her through, making sure she’s properly wrecked before he stops batting her clit with his tongue. They are ridiculously compatible, and she can’t remember the last time a partner gave her that much attention, and-
“That clear enough?” he asks, back on his feet and still way too clothed for her preferences.
“You want me to return the favor?”
“Stop talkin’ like that.”
Well, if this is how she ends up pinned to a wall, she’s not complaining.
She’s usually more assertive than this, but if someone wants to make clear how much they want her, she’ll go with it. It takes some pawing to get his shirt off before he lifts her up, and it’s just as well he was so thorough with his mouth because he’s as solid between the legs as everywhere else and-
Tess is pretty sure she’s in love, and pretty sure that’s not a normal thought to have when being fucked against a wall, and pretty sure she doesn’t care about anything else right now. She hasn’t been done this well in quite some time, maybe ever, and she doesn’t get off again but she at least gets warm enough to have a good time, and-
“Shit,” he says after, after he falls apart inside her with a sharp bite to her shoulder. “You on anything?”
“Implant. Don’t trust me with anything I have to think about more often.”
“Should’ve-“
“At least you’re asking now.”
“Still.”
She’s still half pinned to the wall, and she turns it into an embrace and oh they fit right with their bodies separated too. This better work out, she thinks, this better-
“What now?”
He gets a hand back in her hair, now thoroughly messed up. “Think that shower will fit both of us?”
Like she’d know, she’s tempted to murmur, but it’d ruin the moment. “Only one real way to find out…”
* * * * *
They make it work.
Desperate-hot sex and home-improvement projects are a weird combination to start a relationship on, but Tess is pretty sure she’s never actually dated anyone before, and Joel hasn’t in years upon years, and… at least they’re useless together, at least there’s that. At least they’re winging their way forward, slowly drifting into…
She keeps her own spaces, even when things get serious. It’s a better situation for both of them.
Her yard is still, no matter what she does, even when she lets the kid (Sarah, sweetheart, decides she likes Tess surprisingly quickly) try to help, the disappointment of the block. It’s fine. Comparison helps no one anyways.
A couple years later, just as Tess is starting to think that it might be time to propose now that she’s on the other side of forty and about as domesticated as she’s likely to ever get, she gets a phone call and apparently owes someone a huge favor and ends up sharing space with a teenage girl who reminds her a lot of the purse dogs she thought she moved out here to avoid and…
It all turns out okay in the end. Somehow.

Budget-Friendly Wedding Planning Tips in New Zealand
Planning a wedding on a budget can be both exciting and challenging. In New Zealand, with its breathtaking landscapes and diverse venues, you can have a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you plan your dream wedding affordably, with special attention to the stunning wedding venues in Canterbury.
Setting Your Budget: Where to Start
Determine Your Priorities
The first step in planning a budget-friendly wedding is to determine your priorities. Discuss with your partner what aspects of the wedding are most important to you. Is it the venue, the food, the dress, or perhaps the photography? By identifying your top priorities, you can allocate your budget accordingly.
Create a Detailed Budget Spreadsheet
Create a detailed budget spreadsheet to keep track of your expenses. This should include all potential costs such as the venue, catering, attire, decorations, and miscellaneous expenses. A well-organized spreadsheet will help you stay on track and avoid overspending.
Explore Cost-Saving Options
Look for ways to cut costs without compromising on quality. For instance, consider having your wedding during the off-season or on a weekday. These times are often less expensive than peak wedding seasons and weekends.
Finding Affordable Wedding Venues in Canterbury
Tumblr media
Research Local Venues
Canterbury, with its picturesque landscapes, offers a variety of wedding venues that cater to different budgets. Research local venues thoroughly. Places like parks, community halls, and smaller boutique venues can be more affordable than traditional wedding venues.
Utilize Public Spaces
Public spaces like gardens, beaches, and parks can serve as beautiful and cost-effective wedding venues. Ensure you obtain any necessary permits and check local regulations regarding public gatherings.
Negotiate with Vendors
Don’t hesitate to negotiate with vendors. Many venues and service providers are willing to offer discounts, especially if you’re flexible with your dates and requirements. Building a good relationship with your vendors can lead to better deals and additional perks.
DIY Decorations and Personal Touches
Craft Your Own Decorations
DIY decorations can significantly reduce your wedding costs. Get creative and craft your own centerpieces, bouquets, and wedding favors. Use materials that are easy to source and budget-friendly, such as mason jars, candles, and fresh flowers from a local market.
Involve Friends and Family
Involve your friends and family in the wedding preparations. This not only cuts costs but also adds a personal touch to your wedding. Whether it's making decorations, baking the wedding cake, or assisting with photography, your loved ones can contribute in meaningful ways.
Shop Second-Hand
Explore second-hand stores and online marketplaces for wedding decorations and attire. Many couples sell their wedding items at a fraction of the original cost. This is a great way to find unique and affordable items for your wedding.
Budget-Friendly Catering Options
Opt for a Buffet or Food Stations
Buffets or food stations can be more cost-effective than traditional plated dinners. They also offer a variety of food options, which can accommodate different dietary preferences and tastes. Additionally, consider serving a simple yet elegant menu that focuses on quality over quantity.
Hire a Food Truck
Food trucks are a trendy and budget-friendly catering option. They offer a unique dining experience and often cost less than traditional catering services. Plus, they can provide a fun and casual atmosphere for your guests.
Limit the Bar Selection
Alcohol can be a significant expense. To save money, limit the bar selection to beer, wine, and a signature cocktail instead of offering a full open bar. You can also consider a cash bar where guests pay for their own drinks, or BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) with a corkage fee.
Affordable Wedding Attire
Consider Pre-Loved Dresses
Wedding dresses can be expensive, but there are plenty of options for finding a beautiful dress on a budget. Consider purchasing a pre-loved dress from a consignment shop or an online marketplace. Many dresses are worn only once and are in excellent condition.
Rent or Borrow Attire
Renting or borrowing wedding attire is another cost-effective option. Look for rental shops that offer wedding dresses, suits, and accessories. This can save you a considerable amount of money compared to buying new items.
Simplify the Dress Code
Simplify the dress code for your wedding party. Choose outfits that are stylish yet affordable, and that your bridesmaids and groomsmen can wear again. This not only reduces costs but also ensures that your wedding party feels comfortable and happy.
Capturing Memories on a Budget
Hire a Talented Amateur Photographer
Professional photography can be one of the most significant expenses in a wedding budget. Consider hiring a talented amateur photographer or someone who is building their portfolio. They often charge lower rates and can provide quality services.
Encourage Guests to Take Photos
Encourage your guests to take photos and share them with you. Provide disposable cameras or create a wedding hashtag for social media. This not only saves money but also captures moments from different perspectives.
Create a DIY Photo Booth
Set up a DIY photo booth with fun props and a backdrop. This is an affordable way to entertain your guests and create lasting memories. You can use a smartphone or a simple camera on a tripod to capture the photos.
Conclusion: Enjoying Your Big Day Without the Big Price Tag
Planning a wedding on a budget in New Zealand is entirely achievable with thoughtful planning and creativity. By prioritizing your expenses, finding affordable wedding venues in Canterbury, and incorporating DIY elements, you can have a beautiful and memorable wedding day. Remember, the most important part of your wedding is celebrating your love with family and friends, not how much you spend.
With these tips, you can create a day that reflects your unique style and love story without compromising on quality or breaking the bank. Happy planning!

1.  Paper Flower Bouquet
Paper flowers can be one of the best Cricut Explore Air 2 wedding projects. This is something I find a wonderful idea that I would prefer to suggest to anyone. I believe using real flowers at a wedding is a waste, and they become deformed very easily. So, it is better if you go for something like this.
2.  Proposal Jewelry Boxes
I have designed these darling little jewelry boxes that are the perfect option for gifting something inside this box for any bridesmaid. By adding some interesting texts, which can be seen when it is opened, I really wonder if Cricut can do this much more easily in no time. All we need is a creative mind to make such a design in Cricut Design Space app.
3.  Hershey Kiss Favor Stickers
Want to customize Hershey Kisses? You can do so with these customized stickers. Also, Cricut Explore Air 2 Setup can help you create some amazing stickers. You can navigate to Design Space software, where you can find many designs for free. Also, you will need a Cricut and other accessories to complete this project.
4.  Paper Rosette Bouquet
Looking for Cricut Explore Air 2 wedding projects? Here is a unique and beautiful paper rosette wedding bouquet. They look complex, but they are not. You need a small piece to appear, cut it accordingly, and just roll it to give it the shape of a rose. Personally, I like this rosette bouquet, and I would want something like this for my wedding, too😁.
5.  DIY Wedding Vow Cards
Are you looking forwarding vow cards? If so, what do you think about this card that I made at my sister’s wedding? This is a chic and crafting method to carry her wedding vows. You must try these wedding vow cards, and they will ensure you’re not standing at the altar with any tattered notebook paper.
6.  Acrylic Place Cards
Place cards made of acrylic material look classic. Moreover, this wedding detail and its versatility make it one of the perfect Cricut Explore Air 2 wedding projects to try this year. I really like to use removable vinyl on acrylic material because it gives a new life to acrylic post the wedding day. To do this, you can use your old or new Cricut Explore machine. If you don’t have this, then you can try another model. But if you have this particular model, it will make something you want.
7.  DIY Mirror Wedding Sign
If you are looking for something like a sign, then the mirror wedding sign can be one of the excellent Cricut Explore Air 2 wedding projects. This creative signage can add charm to anyone’s wedding ceremony. Also, what do you think about creating a faux-etched mirror design? Doesn’t that sound interesting? By using a Cricut cutting machine and faux material, you can create this design, and later, you can use it in your own home.
8.  Bachelorette Party Fanny Packs
Elevate your bachelorette party with your friends with this fancy, gorgeous-looking waist bag, which will make your concerns, beaches, and other beautiful moments just a little bit extra. However, you can make these exact packs or design them on your own, and you can easily make them using your Cricut machine setup. Cricut is also the best tool for personalizing things.
9.  Selenite Crystal Place Cards
You are definitely going to love these selenite crystal palace cards, which I made out of inspiration from the splendid selenite crystal and copper wire. This selenite, especially suitable for beach weddings, evokes sea salt, foamy waves, and moonlight on the water. Such a dreamy, romantic natural beauty combined into just one stone. I love this so much, and if you, too, find it interesting, then give it a try!

Wedding in Mumbai with Price: Budgeting Your Dream Celebration
Tumblr media
Planning a wedding in Mumbai can be an exciting yet daunting task, especially when it comes to budgeting. Mumbai, known for its glitz, glamour, and bustling lifestyle, offers a wide range of options for couples looking to tie the knot. However, navigating the myriad of choices while staying within budget can be challenging. In this article, we'll explore various aspects of budgeting for a wedding in Mumbai, from venue costs to vendor expenses, to help you plan your dream celebration without breaking the bank.
Website- https://www.oppvenuz.com/
Understanding Wedding Costs in Mumbai
Before diving into the specifics of budgeting, it's essential to understand the typical costs associated with a wedding in Mumbai. These costs can vary widely depending on factors such as the venue, guest count, season, and level of customization. Here's a breakdown of some common expenses:
Venue Rental:
The venue is one of the most significant expenses for a wedding in Mumbai. Costs can vary depending on the location, size, and amenities offered. Popular venues such as hotels, banquet halls, and resorts tend to be more expensive, while unconventional spaces may offer cost-saving opportunities.
Catering:
Food and beverage costs can account for a significant portion of your wedding budget. Mumbai offers a diverse culinary scene, with options ranging from traditional Indian cuisine to international fare. Buffet-style meals are typically more cost-effective than plated dinners, and opting for local specialties can help save on expenses.
Decor:
Decorating the venue to create the desired ambiance is another expense to consider. Costs can vary depending on the theme, floral arrangements, lighting, and other decorative elements. DIY decor or opting for minimalistic designs can help keep expenses in check.
Entertainment:
Entertainment adds an extra layer of excitement to your wedding celebrations but can also come with a hefty price tag. Hiring live bands, DJs, or performers can add to your expenses, so it's essential to budget accordingly. Consider alternatives such as pre-recorded music or enlisting the help of talented friends and family members.
Photography and Videography:
Capturing the special moments of your wedding day is invaluable, but professional photography and videography services can be costly. Research photographers and videographers in your budget range and negotiate package deals to get the best value for your money.
Miscellaneous Expenses:
Additional expenses to consider include wedding attire, transportation, invitations, gifts, and miscellaneous items such as hair and makeup services, wedding favors, and rental fees for equipment or furniture.
Tips for Budgeting Your Wedding in Mumbai
Now that you have an understanding of the typical costs involved in a wedding in Mumbai, here are some practical tips for budgeting your dream celebration:
Set a Realistic Budget:
Start by determining how much you're willing to spend on your wedding and allocate funds to different categories based on your priorities. Be realistic about what you can afford and avoid overspending by sticking to your budget.
Prioritize Your Expenses:
Identify the aspects of your wedding that are most important to you and allocate a larger portion of your budget to those areas. For example, if having a stunning venue is a top priority, you may need to cut back on other expenses such as decor or entertainment.
Research and Compare Prices:
Take the time to research different vendors and venues in Mumbai and compare prices to find the best deals. Look for packages and promotions that offer good value for your money, and don't be afraid to negotiate for discounts or additional services.
Be Flexible with Dates and Venues:
Consider hosting your wedding on a weekday or during the off-peak season to take advantage of lower prices and availability. Be open to exploring alternative venues such as community centers, parks, or private properties, which may offer more affordable options.
DIY Where Possible:
Get creative and DIY certain aspects of your wedding to save money. For example, you could create your own centerpieces, design your invitations, or enlist the help of friends and family for tasks such as decor setup or transportation.
Keep Track of Expenses:
Maintain a detailed spreadsheet or budgeting tool to track your wedding expenses and ensure that you stay within budget. Monitor your spending regularly and make adjustments as needed to avoid overspending.
Consider Alternative Funding Sources:
If you're struggling to cover the costs of your wedding, consider alternative funding sources such as personal savings, contributions from family members, or taking out a personal loan. Just be sure to weigh the pros and cons and avoid taking on more debt than you can comfortably afford.
Conclusion
Planning a wedding in Mumbai with a budget requires careful consideration and strategic planning. By understanding the typical costs involved, setting a realistic budget, and prioritizing your expenses, you can create the wedding of your dreams without breaking the bank. With careful research, negotiation, and creativity, you can budget effectively and ensure that every aspect of your celebration reflects your unique style and personality. So go ahead, start planning, and turn your dream wedding in Mumbai into a reality within your budget constraints.
