Here's a story :: I have been using @pioneerdjusa effects (EFX-500) since the mid 2000s while I DJ solo & with bands, MCs and other musicians, mainly because I saw @z_trip @djshadow @cutchemist and @djnumark808 using them, and REVOLUTIONIZING DJ Culture doing it. When the effects came out, it literally caused me to learn how to DJ all over again, and completely evolved the way I DJ. Imagine when guitar pedals came out, and the result it had on the music...Yeah. But @pioneerdjglobal didn't have a proper party-rock style mixer with effects like the ones on the unit I used, so I had to bring it everywhere. But their effects are amazing, so I was happy to make this very small sacrifice. Fast forward to @serato being invented. Had to learn how to DJ all over again. This time I could cut the songs up in any sequence I wanted, re-edit, loop and layer samples all while playing vinyl. GAME CHANGING. But I had to use a separate unit (the dicers) to do this without touching the computer. I also had to bring a special box with me to interface with my mixer and the software as well. It wasn't until recently that Pioneer got together with Serato and the DJ Community and created a mixer that incorporated all of these elements into one mixer. I have been holding out for long enough. Basically, for DJs, you can compare this to what it meant when @herbiehancockofficial got his first synthesizer. And it's extremely exiting to actually be part of a movement and art that is so young, and with such a wide window of atomic innovation that is just getting going. I always bug out at the notion that most people don't even really know what a DJ does, or how a DJ does it. And even I didn't know what was truly possible to come out of my noggin-mind...until now.
