Klaine December Fanworks Challenge!

Hey Everyone!!

Polls have been tallied, the people have spoken, and everyone wants some December Klaine action!

So this year we'll be launching the

December Klaine Fanworks Challenge!!

What does this mean?

DAILY PROMPTS

There will be daily prompts beginning December 1 and ending December 21. Hopefully this will give everyone who wants a daily prompt plenty of opportunity for that, but also give participants time to complete the challenge and still have time for whatever holiday celebrations come their way. These daily prompts are not themed in any way and come from a random word generator I found online.

WEEKLY PROMPTS

The weekly themed option was a popular choice, so we're going to try it out! The theme for this year will be Christmas Songs, and each Friday for four weeks there will be a post featuring a Christmas song with a sampling of lyrics from that song to inspire you to be naughty or nice.

Write either or both! Mix and match! Whatever works for you! Not a writer? Fanart is very welcome!!

We'll be joining forces with the @todaydreambelieversfic blog to boost the fanworks, and will let you know what you can do to help in the coming days!

Also, for now we're going to keep this challenge on the Klaine Advent blog (brought to you by Klaine Advent, as it were). Hopefully this won't be too confusing...

I know that when the fandom is having one of those daily prompt challenge events (like Advent/DKFWC or the Valentine's Challenge), that a lot of people try to write chaptered stories with each chapter being based on the prompt of the day, but my brain just doesn't work like that. I can't start to write something without knowing what direction the story is going to go in or what the next chapter is going to be about. Some people can; and they're good at it. I'm not one of those people.

I've only ever completed all of the prompts in a daily challenge like that TWICE. And both times, I not only had the entire list of prompts in advance (because I did the art for them), but I also didn't finish/post the story until after the challenge was over. Every other time I've tried to do one of those challenges, I only managed to fill a couple of prompts as one-shots.

Plus I am extremely anal retentive about not posting a story until it is 100% done because of my ADD. So writing & posting a daily chapter in a multi-chapter story based on a random prompt I've never seen before is not something I'm capable of. And it's a little disheartening to hear that it's the "preferred" method of participation.

me: I have some free time, I should write. I don't have that much left to write in my DKFWC fic, and I want to get it done before the end of the week.

also me: ooh, I should make cinnamon roll apple cobbler right now, so it's ready to eat for dessert after dinner.

me again: hmm...why does my fic still have the same word count it did last night? I had free time to write earlier...
