i need a virtue name for my tiefling pirate fighter (echo knight although she is level two so not yet) she is meant to be pretty classic swashbuckley, her mental stats have been dumped (9 wis babeyyy) but has 14 charisma because i have become incapable of playing anything lower.
hard mode: a name my friends cannot make a joke out of

@caeloservare asked: ✌👀 please?
send me ‘ ✌ ’ and i’ll make a graphic of your muse . // accepting !!
Did I finish this in the middle of my DND session and rush to post it on a break? Perhaps. I love James. I've been defending Ironwood's decisions since back in V3 and while I don't agree with all the characterization, I still love his character and the strength he has to find to do the things people don't want to do. Do I agree with every choice he makes? Of course not. But I still see a noble and redeemable character.
As always, feel free to repost if you want a version without my nattering on it!

there’s an ad on rude tales of magic for some dnd podcast that’s about cryptid hunters searching for florida man which would indicate to me that we are reaching the point of absolute saturation of dnd actual play and anyone who wants to stand out has to find increasingly square pegs to hammer into those round holes. no hate to anyone who works on that podcast specifically but i mean, putting aside the extremely dubious decision to run that in dnd, what is it about the improv comedian mental illness that makes them go YOU LIKE SHTICK? YOU LIKE POINTLESS BACK-AND-FORTH NATTERING? YOU LIKE DICK JOKES? THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT RIGHT?

Some fun practice, because MD:TAS probably spent most of their design budget on the Ducks and the Saurians (I weep for whoever needs to draw Dragaunus in all those frames) and ended up with some oddly-cobbled humans who I figure I could spruce up a bit for this human AU!
AU!Natter below as usual, original setup found here, Duke and Mallory content here and here.
Halford Klegghorn
Same old bastard he’s always been though with more agency! He’s now captain of the NYC’s 10th Precinct and is actually Mallory’s commanding officer.
An ornery old POS who gets irked whenever Mallory tries to take on something above her paygrade as he likes to call it, but cuts her some slack and even covers for her if she actually succeeds in breaking a case.
Mistrustful of Duke, doesn’t like Mallory sniffing around that sleazebag because Duke has a way with people but he sees right through them oh yes he does.
Despite being a weathered gremlin of a captain, he takes shit from no one and during the Saurian invasion, pulls a Tyrion Lannister and rallies his precinct to form the first line of defense in urban warfare.
Doesn’t like to talk about his family, may be the reason he’s more protective of Mallory than sensible given their hierarchical differences.
Busby ‘Buzz’ Blitzman
A 12yr-old child genius who worked alongside Tanya for a while innovating new tech.
His lack of family leaves him with the issue of latching on to people quickly and he is, as is appropriate for his age and sheltered upbringing, extremely naive despite his stupendous booksmarts.
Is actually an honorary member of the Team in this AU after Mallory and Duke free him from Saurian confinement and he ends up tagging along with them to the point where they figure they’ve accidentally adopted a kid now.
Stays behind during missions, can usually be found tinkering with new tech in the lab or watching cartoons in the rec room. Occasionally provides Command Center services if Tanya has to be with the Team on recon.
Considers the Team his family, unfailingly loyal to them.
Thrash & Mookie
The same couple of good-natured slackers they were in the original! Except also rebels now?
They’re the closest friends Nate/’Nosedive’ has, with him having worked at their store and was inspired to draw his own comics by them before he was strongarmed into the Air Force by his dad.
The comic store was basically a joint venture between them which ended up being a safe space for the children in their neighborhoods, with latchkey kids hanging out there until their parents were back. This leads them to using the space for other ‘after-school’ activities for local youth ie. DnD sessions, drawing classes and a Comics Club.
During the invasion, live in NYC’s underground subway/tunnel systems where most of the populace who couldn’t be evacuated to safe zones end up taking refuge.
Often head to the surface to get supplies for the crew and scout for people who need rescue from Saurian hunting squads to report back to the Team.

Get to know me
I always enjoy knowing a little about who I’m following on tumblr. I’m posting this in hopes that my mutuals will write too!
I’m a full time college student in Oregon. I live with my whole family as well as my partner of 7 years, on about 3 acres surrounded by forest. My passions are studying nature, caring for my pets, and learning how to run a homestead. I have a really wide and random range of interests from DnD to learning Japanese to boxing. Anyone is welcome to message me and have a natter!

after dnd game 1 got killed due to people being asses in regards to my friend's divorce (covering for cheaters is not a good life choice), we are restarting an old campaign that never got very far (we did like, 2-3 adventures? just little ones, we were level 3) and have invited a new person to play with us so we'll be a small three person party unless we find a fourth, but we have npcs tagging along and a small game doesn't bother us.
we are having a session 0 this weekend and i was looking over my character and had the thought of switching my grave cleric to a light cleric but i think i've decided not to switch, partially because the healing buffs might be needed lol. also i'd need to rework her entire backstory which seems like a lot when i have a firm grip on what she is.

The Adventure Zone was my first entry into dnd podcasts and I love those fun and wacky characters, but there’s always a point where they start getting into some fraught emotional backstory or interaction and I have to turn it off  immediately 😬 this is too personal, I can’t be listening to this, goodbye

my friends are great and i love our campaign it's very Intrigue which has been great for my rogue (i used to have a ranger in this campaign but switched out) but one of my friends, despite playing years and many iterations of dnd, does not comprehend 5th and doesn't prioritize optimizing his character. I understand we are in a campaign that has less combat than usual (but obviously. still combat. it's dnd) but when he was like 'idk maybe i shouldn't up my strength i don't want to come off as the hulk when i'm trying to be a noble' (long story) i had to sit him down and go 'you need this strength increase as our enemies increase in difficulty. they are only going to get harder to hit. you do not need to worry about the physical appearance of your character unless you decide to pursue that as a character change, our dm would not push that on you. women (his character is female) do not carry typically muscle the same way men do anyway, her being stealthily strong would be IC with her history and a great thing to surprise our enemies with'
truly sitting down children.

Notes: we are not a heavy fight campaign but I am the only pure martial character. Our paladin doesn't have optimized stats so her attack bonus isn't the greatest and she's my only backup. So while I am leaning stat boost it's tempting to go for that archery style...

OH
My thief has earned a title of her choosing due to services to the crown (Our whole party has) and now we have to decide this.
please help me
notable things about her:
thief, obviously. particularly with insight, forgery and social skills. (She is an Inquisitive subclass)
queer af
technically a wanted woman but is now paling around with a duchess
her thief name is the Starling because she is both flashy and doesn't shut up.
part of her wants to use her thief name as the title and just see how much trouble that gets her but truly, she is wanted by a lord, and he's like an old family long lineage guy. (she may be dating his daughter, hence why he hates her)
