It's ok to say LESS!

I have learned that in my personal life not everything needs to be said. It really is okay to think it & NOT say it sometimes.

Now, business is a bit different 😂 You need to state ALL the details, no matter how insignificant they seem to you because they may not be to your customers. But there is a positive side to this...you don't actually have to verbally say it, but it does need to be written down in an organized, clear, concise, & a bit entertaining way!

Don't get in the van!

When I was a kid, we were told repeatedly not to accept things from strangers. Predators knew that they could lure kids with things like lollipops. It was known that kids that went with strangers had a high probability of something traumatic, & possibly life-ending, happening to them.

As kids of the '80s & '90s, we've grown up & apparently forgotten about stranger danger.

People are trying to tempt you with a lollipop so don't get caught slipping because you went for it instead of asking some basic questions.

If all I have to do to stay alive is ask some basic questions, I'm going to ask every time. The moral of this little story is by asking questions you can save yourself from the van!

If you don't understand or literally don't know the definition of the words being used SAY SO, aka call a spade a spade!

This world is riddled with #miscommunication. The real source of that is people are not understanding one another during #communication so when you don't understand it's very crucial that you say so.

By clearly stating that you are not fully comprehending the message trying to be sent to you, either written or verbal, you allow the misunderstanding to be clarified quickly, respectfully, & effectively.

Me: "That's ok because you probably have more current skills in the field than you think!"

When you haven't held a job in a specific field in years, it can be very overwhelming when you decide to get back into that field.

Tip: Redefine your skills by writing down a list of keywords in the field you desire, then write down all the keywords for everything you currently do day-to-day.

You'll find that a lot of the keywords are in both lists. The next step is to revamp your career story by integrating the keywords present on both lists.

That's happens often, especially when things aren't written down. When someone says adamantly that 2+2=5, that's when I seriously have to question if their mental elevator is going all the way up.

Writing things down is not a surefire way to eliminate conflicting ideas & math that ain't mathing, but it will establish a very clear starting point when those type of situations arise.

The job of a leader is to bring out the leader in those under them. Honestly, a true leader doesn't necessarily feel they're above anyone else.

Real leaders also value everyone's time on their team. Valuing people involves valuing their time, aka don't waste their time, because once It's gone, it's gone!
