The Future (Intro)
Pairing: Emmett (AQP2) x Female OC
Warnings: Post-Apocalyptic, Post-Trauma, Arranged Marriage, Forced Impregnation
Notes: Alright, you asked for this and I said I would do it! But there is a twist! I am writing my first OC story, so please be kind. I also stole some pictures from Fear the Walking Dead for my character introduction. It seemed fitting enough...
Tumblr media
Introduction/Characters:
Caitlin (Original Character & Main Protagonist): Caitlin is 25 years old and single. She is a nurse on the island which sometimes proves difficult for her as, just like Regan, she is deaf. Caitlin suffered trauma and abuse after having been captured by rebels on the mainland and then was rescued by Emmett who took her to the island. Caitlin enjoys drawing, reading, and gardening.
Tumblr media
Karl (Original Character): Karl is ten years old and Caitlin’s adoptive son. Their backstory is explained below. Karl is also deaf.
Max (Original Character): Max is eights years and also Catlin’s adoptive son. He is Karl’s younger biological brother.
Emmett (Main Protagonist): We all know Emmett of course. Emmett is 45 years old and leads the task force to the mainland, to which he travels occasionally to source food and seek out survivors. Over the years, Emmett has learned sign-language for Regan’s sake. Emmett is Eloise’s godfather and lives on his own with his dog Scout, in a small cabin, away from the main village on the island. He likes to keep to himself and draw, but often gets forced to socialise with the group.
Tumblr media
Regan: We also all know Regan. Regan is now in her early twenties and has a daughter called Eloise.
Tumblr media
Eloise (Original Character): Eloise is Regan’s three-year-old daughter.
George (Original Character): George is Regan’s husband.
Evelyn: We all know Evelyn of course. Evelyn is Regan’s mother and Emmett’s closest friend. Evelyn is one of the elected five council members and, unlike Emmett, she is very active in the community.
Tumblr media
Jordyn (Original Character): Jordyn is 30 years old and single. Jordyn is interested in Caitlin but has a troubled past. Until one year ago, he lived on the mainland with a rebel group but, due to a dispute with the other men, he took shelter on the island. Emmett and some of the others are keeping a close eye on him and some other young men, including Evelyn’s son, whom he is trying to recruit for an uprising against the authorities.
Tumblr media
Background
After years of living on the island, a community had finally been formed and it was this sense of community which gave everyone hope following the invasion.
Other communities like this were soon discovered elsewhere, mostly scattered across different islands off the shores of America and these communities eventually began to form a government again, named the “New Government of the Island States” (NGIS).
Telecommunication was slowly restored amongst these communities and, after implementing successful means of basic communication, five representatives from each island community were elected to form a local council. The local council for each island was then tasked to implement any new laws and regulations proposed within their sector and, so that none of the communities would create havoc for themselves or others, any new laws and regulations were prepared and passed collectively by the Senate of the NGIS. All five council members were also members of such Senate and, together, at least seventy percent of all 35 Senate members had to vote in favour of any new law or regulation before its implementation across the member islands.
It was called democracy and gave rise to many good ideas. After five years of chaos, criminals and murderers were now finally being brought to justice again and there was now also the option of legal marriage and companionship.
The few children that had survived the invasion were now being schooled and everyone was given food as well as employment.
A task force had also been established on each island, requiring at least twenty participants whom were mostly volunteers to, occasionally, travel to the mainland in order to look for survivors and gather supplies. The task force was also charged with killing the aliens which, over the past five years, had destroyed this earth and killed over ninety-nine percent of the population.
But, the fact that ninety-nine percent of the population had died following the invasion also gave rise to a new law which had been voted in favour of at the rate of just seventy-one percent. It was a law that had been frowned upon by many and was called the “Law of Procreation”.
Under the Law of Procreation, every female above the age of twenty and under the age of thirty-five had to be bound to a domestic relationship and produce at least two children if at all physically possible.
Birth control was made illegal for women who fall within this age bracket and if a woman had not found a partner within ninety days of this law having been enacted or within ninety days of turning twenty (whichever is the later), then a partner was to be assigned to her by council.
This, unfortunately, was the case for at least three single women on the Seaside Island, one of whom was Caitlin.
Caitlin was a 25-year-old nurse who had arrived at the island three years ago with a child named Max and a child named Karl. Both children were still young, eight and ten respectively and just like Caitlin herself, Karl could neither hear nor speak. He was deaf and, since he was just like her, this is why Caitlin had cared for him all this time.
On the day of the invasion, Caitlin was babysitting the two boys which was something she had done for several years beforehand. Because she knew sign-language, the siblings’ parents had employed her as a daytime carer for them after they decided that boys should both be home schooled and, with that in mind, Caitlin became a qualified aid to them both.
Then, when the aliens took over, it was Caitlin who saved the boys’ life and although she started looking for their parents, they could never be found. They had probably been taken by the creatures and, with that in mind, Caitlin and the two siblings took shelter in a nearby barn before making their way to the island.
Just as many others, Max heard the signal and told Caitlin about it which is when they made their way to the nearest dock. But, just as they had arrived at the dock to board a small ship to Seaside Island, the unthinkable happened.
Caitlin was taken by a group of men while Max and Karl managed to hide on a small boat near the pier. The boat itself became their saviour and, miraculously, they made it to the island to gather help.
Six men from the island then went to the shore in order to save Caitlin. It was an act full of compassion, led by a man called Norman who, sadly, passed away one year following his mission to the mainland.
Knowing that Caitlin could neither speak nor hear, Norman asked Emmett to join him along with Regan’s husband George. Both George and Emmett knew some sign-language after having learned the basics for Regan’s sake and were therefore well equipped to communicate with the captured girl who appreciated the involvement from both men in the rescue mission.
Alongside Caitlin, the group rescued two more women, as well as a young child who belonged to one of the rebels.
The women had endured great suffering under the care of these barbaric men and it was Emmett who took revenge for them after they were freed.
It was also Emmett who carried Caitlin out of the building as she was too injured to walk herself and they had been acquaintances ever since. One wouldn’t call them friends, but they sure got along, at least until now, which is when their lives were to be changed forever.
To be continued…

I miss Loki. I miss having someone to hang out with. I miss having someone to do things with. I miss having company when I garden, when I run, when I wander, when I socialise. I’m lonely. I miss having a constant companion who enjoys spending time with me and wants to hang out with me while I do the things I enjoy. I’m craving a buddy and company. And while I desperately miss Loki, it’s companionship that is missing also. I want to get another dog, not to replace Loki but to fill the gaping, lonely hole.
I’m struggling to get out of bed, let alone leave the house. As for wearing anything other than pyjamas, why the fuck would I bother. During the week I just put on an EzyPay hoodie over the top, on weekends, I don’t even pretend to cover them up.
I think that’s why I’ve booked travel for the next few weeks. At least that means I have to wear different clothes every day (not pyjamas), I have to leave the house. I have to put in the appearance of being a normal human being.
Fuck I miss Loki.

XXL Dog Breeds: A Comprehensive Guide
Owning an XXL dog breed is a unique and fulfilling experience, offering the companionship of a truly remarkable pet. However, these large dogs come with specific needs that require thoughtful consideration. From their towering presence to their loyal and protective nature, XXL dogs demand specialised care, attention, and equipment. This guide will provide you with valuable insights into what defines an XXL dog, explore popular breeds, outline essential care practices, and help you choose the best equipment, including XXL dog crates, to ensure your giant friend thrives in your home.
What is Considered an XXL Dog?
When we talk about XXL dogs, we're referring to canines that weigh well over 100 pounds and stand tall enough to command attention wherever they go. These dogs aren't just large—they're enormous, often requiring more space, food, and care than smaller breeds.
Popular XXL Dog BreedsSome of the most well-known XXL dog breeds include the majestic Great Dane, the powerful Mastiff, and the sturdy Saint Bernard. However, there are many other breeds that fall into the XXL category, particularly those that weigh between 91 and 110 pounds. These breeds include:
Afghan: 91 - 110 lbs
Akita: 91 - 110 lbs
Alaskan Malamute: 91 - 110 lbs
Anatolian Shepherd: 91 - 110 lbs
Bernese Mountain Dog: 91 - 110 lbs
Bloodhound: 91 - 110 lbs
Boerboel: 91 - 110 lbs
Bouvier Des Flandres: 91 - 110 lbs
Briard: 91 - 110 lbs
Bullmastiff: 91 - 110 lbs
Catahoula Leopard Dog: 91 - 110 lbs

Old English Sheepdog: 91 - 110 lbs
Otterhound: 91 - 110 lbs
Pointer: 91 - 110 lbs
Rottweiler: 91 - 110 lbs
Samoyed: 91 - 110 lbs
Siberian Husky: 91 - 110 lbs
Tervueren: 91 - 110 lbs
Weimaraner: 91 - 110 lbs
Exploring XXL Dog Breeds
Breed Characteristics
XXL dog breeds are known for their impressive stature, but there's more to them than just size. Great Danes, for example, are known for their gentle and affectionate nature, making them excellent family pets despite their imposing size. Mastiffs are incredibly loyal and protective, often serving as excellent guard dogs. Saint Bernards, with their history of rescue work in the Alps, are known for their strength and stamina.
Temperament and Behavior
While XXL dog breeds can vary in temperament, many share a common disposition of loyalty, protectiveness, and a calm demeanour. They tend to bond closely with their families and can be very affectionate, though their size means they must be trained and socialised properly from a young age to ensure they are well-behaved.
Choosing the Right Breed for You
Selecting the right XXL dog breed involves considering your lifestyle, living situation, and experience with dogs. If you have a large home with a spacious yard, a Mastiff or Saint Bernard might be a good fit. However, if you prefer a dog with a bit more agility and energy, a Great Dane might be more up your alley. Be sure to research each breed thoroughly to find the best match for your family.
Special Care Needs of XXL Dogs
Dietary Requirements
Feeding an XXL dog is no small task. These large breeds require a diet rich in protein and nutrients to support their massive frames. Overfeeding can lead to obesity, which can exacerbate health issues like joint problems, so it's crucial to maintain a balanced diet.
Exercise Needs
Regular exercise is vital for XXL dogs to keep their muscles strong and joints healthy. Due to their size, they may not need as much intense exercise as smaller, more energetic breeds, but daily walks and playtime are essential to prevent obesity and keep them mentally stimulated.
Health Concerns
XXL breeds are prone to certain health issues due to their size. Hip dysplasia, heart problems, and joint issues are common concerns. Regular vet check-ups, a healthy diet, and proper exercise can help mitigate these risks and ensure your dog lives a long, happy life.
Choosing the Right Equipment for XXL Dogs
Leashes and Harnesses
When it comes to leashes and harnesses, durability is key. XXL dogs are strong, and a flimsy leash won't cut it. Look for heavy-duty options that are comfortable for your dog but can also handle their strength.
Beds and Crates
Choosing the right bed and crate for your XXL dog is crucial. An appropriately sized crate provides a safe space for your dog to relax and sleep. When selecting a crate, it's essential to consider options specifically designed for XXL Dog Crates for Extra-Large Breeds to ensure your dog's comfort and security.
Grooming Tools
Grooming an XXL dog requires tools that can handle their thick coats and large bodies. Invest in sturdy brushes, combs, and clippers designed for large breeds to keep their coat healthy and reduce shedding.

How Can Pets Improve Your Mental Health?
There are millions of people globally who love their pets. Pets bring abundant love and companionship into our lives. Our furry friends play a crucial role in improving our mental health.
Various studies have proven that dogs alleviate stress and anxiety. By taking them for a stroll, playing with them and even talking to them, you can feel immense joy.
From improving your mood to alleviating stress, here are 8 ways pets positively impact your mental health.
1. Pets Provide a Sense of Purpose
Pets need a fixed routine of walking, eating, grooming, and playing. Being a pet parent, these responsibilities can give you motivation to look forward to your day. Playing with your pooch or taking him for a stroll improves your mood and can be a good self-care activity for you.
Knowing that your pooch depends on you for his well-being can instil pride and purpose.
02. Pets Improve Your Fitness
Whether it’s going for a walk with your dog or playing with your cat, pets encourage physical activity, which is beneficial for your physical and mental health. Having a pet by your side motivates you to stay active, spend more time outdoors and be on top of your fitness.
3. Pets Lower Stress
Various types of research have proven that patting a pet can help lower stress and blood pressure. Even when you cuddle with your furry friend, your body releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin and serotonin, helping to lower stress levels and promote relaxation.
Moreover, pets have an innate ability to sense your anxiety or bad mood. They can cuddle or simply sit by you to make you feel comfortable. In a selfish world, the selfless love offered by pets can be your ultimate solace during challenging times.
4. Pets Provide Opportunities for Social Interaction
By socialising your pet, you can open doors to meeting new people and expanding your own social network. Pets create ample opportunities for social interactions, serving as natural icebreakers and conversation starters.
You can even attend pet-friendly events and form connections with fellow pet owners. Such interactions not only boost your confidence but also provide a sense of belonging and support.
5. Pets Alleviate Loneliness
Pets are affectionate and loyal. They offer great companionship to everyone in the family. Their playful antics and hugs can add a smile to your face even when you have had a tough day.
They also help you fulfil the basic human need to touch. The bonding you share with your pet can alleviate feelings of loneliness.
6. Increased Concentration
Caring for a pet requires increased focus and concentration. It teaches you to be present in the moment and reduces overthinking. Engaging in activities like grooming, walking, or playing with your pet increases mindfulness and equips you to fully enjoy the present moment.
7. Improves Coping Skills
Caring for a pet requires patience, resilience, and problem-solving skills, all of which are valuable for coping with life’s challenges. The responsibility of pet ownership can teach valuable coping mechanisms and provide a sense of empowerment in managing stressors.
8. Lowers Blood Pressure & Heart Rate
Spending time with pets has been shown to lower blood pressure and heart rate, leading to reduced stress levels and improved cardiovascular health.
Conclusion
The bond between humans and pets runs deep, and the positive impact that pets have on our mental health cannot be overstated. Whether you have a dog, cat, or any other furry friend, cherish the special bond you share, as it brings immense benefits to your overall well-being.

Why did you bring a dog into your family?
Audio link: https://youtu.be/F_U8ss46f7g?si=0Dc_7ZhxrHQsjoKW
I brought a dog into my family because I needed that companionship, unconditional love, uncomplicated love, a companion to have adventures with and share my life with.
I think it's really important that this difficult topic is addressed. Socialisation.
Dogs just like us don't want to be friends with every dog that they meet. We need to rebuild the new normal, if friends and family have dogs it doesn't mean that your dog's are going to get along.
You choose your best friend but your dog's choose who they also feel comfortable with.
Your dog is amazing just the way they are and they are your companion. Not your best friends dog, not your parents dog, not your friends dog. They are your companion and yours alone. Love them for that very special role!
Did you know puppy parties and classes are an outdated 50 year old rhetoric? There is no evidence today in science that puppy parties or classes are in any way helpful to dogs and could in fact be the opposite.
It's down to the breeders during the critical and sensitive periods to expose puppies to socialisation experiences, this is not synonymous with playing with other puppies.
Early socialisation experiences for puppies with breeders looks like; early scent introduction (ESI) or early neurological stimulation (ENS) with neonatal puppies.
ENS promotes physiological health, improves cardiovascular activities, strengthens adrenal glands, builds a higher resistance to disease, stress tolerance and resilience. (1)
ESI or early scent introduction begins at the age of day 3 through to day 16 of the puppy's life for only one minute per day but begins to open the neurological pathways and can enhance the neurological performance for puppy's throughout their life through touch and scent as early neurological stimulation (ENS) is combined with ESI. (2)
Breeders will also expose to children where possible, car journeys, the vets, sounds and different textures.
Once they are adopted into their new family it is then up to the new guardians to continue with socialisation to novel situations and situations that they will experience as they become an adult and are an adult.
This could be getting used to traffic in urban environments, it could be desensitisation to bird scarers in a rural environment, it could be that the vets or the pet shop is on an industrial estate so getting used to the sounds of shutters and fork lifts can be helpful.
It could be that you live by a school, a construction area, a fire station, police or paramedic station. In which the main desensitisation needs is to sirens.
It's also really important to focus on socialising with your vet as this person is going to be a constant in your dog's life as well as the socialisation to the surgery, the sounds and smells and of course the groomer, should you have a breed which requires grooming.
Unfortunately, like much of the industry, the information we have today is 50 years old, 50 years ago socialisation classes were encouraged based on the information that they had then. Which in all fairness is very limited. 50 years ago Barbara Woodhouse was also the trainer most guardians looked to, shudder.
It's also been found in a much more recent study that different breeds have different socialisation windows and with breed variations this means that different breeds, very much can't just be lumped into a puppy party or socialising class. (3)
In 1999, researchers identified very few benefits of puppy classes in a controlled test study and reviewing the results of the puppies behaviour, post puppy classes. (4)
These results again stress the importance in further research in truly understanding optimal socialisation windows for dogs based upon their breed.
It was also discussed that a major limitation to truly understanding socialisation as a formal study is that although guardian questionnaires can be used, they can be unreliable and biassed and most importantly all puppies live in very different environments which also means the study results will not be consistent for analysis, which is why 50 year old rhetoric is still used today.
It also used to be that people didn't think twice about bringing a puppy home at 5, 6, 7, 8 weeks and now it is encouraged that puppies are 12 weeks old before going to their new homes for their optimal development and emotional wellbeing.
Epigenetics, maternal instincts and experiences for the puppies with their mother and other environmental factors, secure attachments and Oxytocin levels have also not been tested to develop a baseline of effective socialisation and experiences which shape whether a dog as an adult is likely to become fearful or bite. (5)
The other problem is that when dogs become adolescent and emotionally challenged they are relinquished and many stories are told as to why they are relinquished, this also means understanding relinquishment rates is also not reliable as people cannot be counted on to be honest about what they have or haven't done with their puppy which could of led to the “unwanted behaviours.” This is when we see relinquishment of dogs, as they haven't met the idea of companionship of the human. (6)
Many guardians I have worked with who had emotionally challenged dogs attended a puppy class or party of some kind and many felt lost, frustrated and first contact a lot of the time was: “If I couldn't help they would relinquish their dog.”
I think it's really important that we embrace a new understanding of dogs. We bring dogs into our lives to become family members and sometimes dogs are emotionally challenged for a whole variation of reasons, as discussed in this blog.
We need to come to understand that our dog is our companion, not the neighbours dog, not a dog round the block or strange dogs that you bump into. Your dog is your companion and if your dog is emotionally challenged by other dogs, that's OK because your dog is your companion and yours alone.
Rethink puppy classes as even the experts don't believe there are any positive associations or benefits for your puppy and begin to embrace setting your puppy up for success in the life you live, the company you keep and the places you travel!

Beagle Puppy vs. Adult Beagle: What to Expect?
Tumblr media
In America, Beagles are considered the fifth most popular breed because they are loving, intelligent and oh-so-adorable! They are super friendly and affectionate with kids and families, and if you would like to adopt these little bundles of joy, you can always go for beagle puppies for sale in the UK. However, are you stuck in the constant tug between whether you want to adopt a pup or an adult? Well, let’s shed light on what you can expect at each stage of their development to make a well-informed decision.
Beagle Puppy: A Bundle of Energy and Exploration
If you decide to go for Beagle puppies for sale near Manchester, be prepared to welcome a lively and energetic companion into your home. Beagle pups brim with boundless enthusiasm, curiosity and an insatiable desire to explore their surroundings. Their exuberant behaviour is often coupled with an inherent playfulness that can bring immense joy to your household. However, this exuberance also requires patience and consistent training to harness their energy effectively.
As beagles are creatures of packs, socialisation is a pivotal aspect of their life. Introduce them to various people, animals and environments and start puppy training sessions at an early age to instil basic obedience commands and appropriate behaviour.
Adult Beagle: Maturity and Steady Companionship
As your Beagle matures into adulthood, you can expect a shift in its demeanour. Adult Beagles generally exhibit a more composed and settled temperament compared to their puppy counterparts. Their high energy levels tend to mellow out, making them more manageable for individuals who prefer a less demanding pet. Adult Beagles are more likely to be content with leisurely walks and indoor play, although regular exercise is vital to maintain their health and mental well-being. In a nutshell, unlike beagle puppies with developing personalities and surprisingly adorable temperaments, adult Beagles have an established and predictable personality.

We focus on basic commands and behaviours like sitting, staying, coming when called, and walking nicely on a lead. All these skills are vital for a dog living in urban areas like South East London. Also, remember that our training is not just for the puppies, it's equally important for you as a pet parent. You'll learn techniques to address puppy problems like biting, chewing, and house training.
Now, you might be wondering, "What about social skills?" Don’t worry, we've got that covered too! Puppy Socialisation Classes South East London are an integral part of our program. These classes offer a safe and controlled environment for your puppy to interact with other dogs and humans. Just like humans, each puppy has its own personality and pace of learning. We respect this individuality and our experienced trainers ensure that every puppy gets the attention they deserve. We're firm believers in positive reinforcement, rewarding good behaviour with treats, praise, or a good ol' belly rub.
In the beginning, it may seem like a lot of work, but remember, the effort you put in now will pay off manifold in the years to come. A well-trained dog not only makes your life easier but also has a happier, more fulfilled life. So let’s start this exciting journey together at South East London Puppy Training. Comprehensive Canine Learning
In our quest for a well-behaved and obedient dog, it's essential that we look beyond the basics. This is where SE London Dog Schooling takes centre stage. We offer comprehensive, multi-level dog training services in South East London, that cater to the unique needs of every dog and their owner.
Tumblr media
Our dog schooling is a step above regular training classes, going beyond simple commands. It focuses on instilling obedience and discipline in dogs while addressing specific behavioural issues. Be it leash pulling, excessive barking, or aggression, our expert dog trainers can handle it all.
Remember, every dog is unique and so are their training needs. The 'one size fits all' approach might not work well for all dogs. So how do we ensure that your dog gets the training they specifically need? The answer lies in our One-to-One Dog Training South East London.
One-to-One training provides personalised attention to your dog. The trainer works closely with your dog, understanding their temperament, triggers, and training needs. This allows us to tailor a training program specific to your dog, ensuring effective learning.
The individual sessions allow your dog to learn at their own pace without any distractions, which might not be possible in a group class. This is particularly beneficial for dogs who might be shy, aggressive, or easily distracted. Moreover, it also allows the trainer to focus on specific issues that your dog might be facing.
But that's not all! The one-on-one training is also designed to empower you, the pet parent. You'll learn the art of dog communication and the techniques of reinforcing training at home. After all, consistent reinforcement is key to successful training.
Our One-to-One Dog Training South East London is flexible, and we can conduct sessions at your home or any other comfortable environment. Rest assured, our trainers are equipped to handle all breeds, ages, and sizes of dogs.
Whether you choose our comprehensive Dog Schooling or opt for the personalised One-to-One Dog Training, our ultimate aim is to create a positive, enriching, and rewarding experience for both you and your dog. With our training, you can look forward to a lifetime of joy and companionship with your four-legged friend.
Exploring Types of Training Classes
Every dog owner wants their beloved pet to be well-behaved, obedient and a pleasure to be around. This is where Dog Training Classes South East London shines, offering a variety of courses to suit the specific needs of your pet. In this segment, we'll delve into two of our most popular offerings: Obedience Classes South East London and Group Dog Training Classes SE London.
Obedience Classes South East London
Obedience classes are the cornerstone of any effective dog training programme. These classes are designed to instil basic commands such as 'sit', 'stay', 'come', and 'heel'. In our obedience classes, we also address behavioural issues like jumping, digging, and leash pulling.
The classes follow a structured curriculum, but our trainers, leveraging their extensive experience, ensure that they cater to the individual needs of each dog. Our goal in these classes is not only to make your dog obedient but also to foster a positive relationship between you and your pet.
It's a joy to see a dog respond to your commands, but obedience training does much more than just teaching commands. It builds confidence in your dog, stimulates their mind, and, importantly, it could potentially save your dog's life in dangerous situations. Remember, a well-behaved dog is also a joy to take to parks, cafes, and on walks, making your pet a perfect community citizen.
Tumblr media
Group Dog Training Classes SE London
While individual training has its advantages, the benefits of group training classes are manifold. In our Group Dog Training Classes SE London, your pet gets to learn in a social environment, interacting with other dogs and people.
These sessions provide an excellent opportunity for your dog to develop essential socialisation skills. Regular interaction with different dogs can significantly improve your dog's behaviour around other pets. It also helps your dog to be calm and composed in various environments, not getting overly excited or aggressive when seeing other dogs.
Moreover, group classes also create an environment of learning through observation. Dogs are excellent observers, and they often learn behaviour and tricks from their peers.
Apart from these, group classes also provide a platform for dog owners to share experiences, challenges, and tips, creating a small yet supportive community of dog lovers.
Specialized Training Programs: Unpacking Specialised Dog Training SE London and the Thrills of SE London Dog Agility Training
For dog owners who wish to take their pet's skills beyond basic obedience, Specialised Dog Training SE London and SE London Dog Agility Training offer advanced, exciting training programs that not only teach new skills but also reinforce the bond between owner and pet.
Specialised Dog Training SE London
Every dog is unique, with their individual personality, behaviour, and learning pace. Sometimes, general training methods might not address specific behavioural challenges or personal goals you have for your pet. That's where our specialised training programs come into play.
Our Specialised Dog Training SE London targets particular needs or issues that your dog might be facing. This could range from helping a dog overcome separation anxiety to teaching them to react positively to strangers or other dogs.
Maybe your furry friend has developed an unusual habit that's disruptive, or perhaps they're showing signs of aggression. Our expert trainers are equipped with the necessary skills to identify and correct these behaviours using positive reinforcement methods.
In addition, our specialised training programs also cater to those looking for advanced skills training. For example, if you want your dog to learn specific tricks or commands, or if you're preparing your pet for a dog show or competition, we've got you covered.
SE London Dog Agility Training
Now, let's dive into one of the most fun-filled and engaging training programs we offer: the SE London Dog Agility Training.
Dog agility training is a sport where you direct your dog through a series of obstacles like jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and seesaws, in a race for both time and accuracy. Dogs run off-leash with no food or toys as incentives. The handler can touch neither dog nor obstacles, making the handler's controls limited to voice, movement, and various body signals, requiring exceptional training of the animal.
Agility training is beneficial on multiple levels. Firstly, it provides an excellent physical workout for your dog, ensuring they stay fit and healthy. Secondly, it challenges their mind, as they need to follow your commands closely to navigate the course correctly.
Moreover, agility training can significantly improve the communication and bond between you and your pet. As they learn to rely on your commands to complete the course, they become more attuned to your instructions, even outside the agility course.
So, whether you're interested in Specialised Dog Training SE London or the adrenaline-filled SE London Dog Agility Training, you're guaranteed a rewarding and enriching experience at our South East London training centre. Effective Training Techniques
As professional dog trainers in South East London, we employ an array of proven techniques to guide your canine companion on the path to becoming a well-behaved and responsive pet. Two key pillars of our training philosophy are Positive Reinforcement Dog Training SE London and Canine Behaviour Lessons SE London.
Positive Reinforcement Dog Training SE London
One of the most effective training methods we promote is Positive Reinforcement. So, what exactly is positive reinforcement, and why is it so effective?
Positive Reinforcement involves adding a rewarding stimulus to increase the likelihood of a behaviour being repeated. In simple terms, it means rewarding your dog when they do something you like so that they will do it again. Rewards can be anything your dog finds appealing - treats, toys, or even a simple pat on the head.
Positive Reinforcement Dog Training SE London aims to create a positive association with good behaviour, making dogs more eager to learn and follow commands. It fosters a healthy learning environment where dogs feel safe and motivated to participate actively in the training sessions.
Key to success with this technique is timing. The reward should be given immediately after your dog performs the desired behaviour. This helps them associate the behaviour with the reward, increasing the likelihood that they will repeat it in the future.
Canine Behaviour Lessons SE London
Understanding your dog's behaviour is crucial to effective training. That's where our Canine Behaviour Lessons SE London come into the picture. These sessions aim to teach dog owners how to read their pet's body language and understand their needs better.
Dogs communicate primarily through body language - from the position of their ears and tail to their overall body posture. Learning to interpret these signals can help you understand your pet's emotional state and respond appropriately. For instance, knowing when your dog is scared, anxious, or uncomfortable can prevent unwanted behaviour and potentially dangerous situations.
In addition, Canine Behaviour Lessons also cover key topics like understanding your dog's breed-specific traits, addressing common behavioural issues, and learning how to provide mental stimulation for your dog.
In conclusion, Positive Reinforcement Dog Training SE London and Canine Behaviour Lessons SE London provide a comprehensive framework for effective dog training. Not only do they foster good behaviour, but they also enhance the bond between you and your furry friend.

Hi everyone! :) How are you doing? 🥰💕 Today I'll be outlining the main do's and don't's of writing characters with SAD, as well the definition and the main symptoms of SAD.
DISCLAIMER: I am not diagnosed with SAD myself; however, all of the following information had been obtained from different posts and sites of people that have first-hand experience with SAD. I will be linking those at the end of today's post, please feel free to check them out.
What I learned from the intense research I did is that nobody has social anxiety the same. Some people feel like they can't breath. Others tend to laugh in awkward moments. Nobody is the same. No character is exactly alike. You can't get it "right," because it's not an exact science. So don't feel too pressured while writing a character with SAD, there's no "one" way to write them. A helpful approach is to think what about how the SAD fits into the story you want to tell because the topic is really as complicated as any other and you can view it from many different angles and go as deep as you want - depending on what this story you're trying to tell calls for. So rather than trying to get an objective view of this complicated topic, focus on the aspects that are relevant to the story.
What is Social Anxiety Disorder?
AKA Social Phobia, SAD describes an intense fear and avoidance of negative public scrutiny, public embarrassment, humiliation or social interaction. This fear can be specified to particular social situations; such as public speaking, or more typically, is experienced in most/all social interactions. Those suffering from SAD will often attempt to avoid the source of their anxiety; this is particularly problematic and in severe cases can lead to complete social isolation.
Symptoms of SAD:
person paces a lot
very fidgety
stops talking mid sentence...a lot
wrings hands
angered by slightest infractions of others
finds fault in others a lot
hard to breathe when focus/attention is shifted to them
sweating profusely
mumbling
shrinking to hide
lack of eye contact/wandering eyes
painfully shy and withdrawn
picking the nails, picking the skin
always the person in the back of the room or in a corner
gravitating toward the first person they recognise and following them everywhere
headaches
finding ways to avoid certain situations
crying before or after social events
feel dizzy and the entire world becomes very far away
feeling like chest was caving in
assuming that everyone is focusing on them
assuming that people are laughing about them
grind their teeth a lot
bite their knuckles
tap out drum patterns with their feet or fingers
nausea and vomiting
muscle weakness
migraines
heart arrhythmia
increasing nervous tics
Keep in mind that social anxiety exists on a spectrum. Not everyone is paralysed at the smallest conversation, but some are. Others feel mild discomfort at certain types of socialising. It’s all relative.
DO'S:
DO write in a lot of internal dialogue. People with SAD say that most of their anxiety is created by their own internal rumination. So, add a lot of overly self-critical internal dialogue and have them think about trivial things that they may or may not have gotten wrong for hours after the fact. People with SAD also tend to avoid initiating with anyone, instead preferring for them (the other person) to initiate — because then they know they're not inconveniencing them (the other person). If a person with SAD does have to interact with people then they tend to plan and rehearse what they're going to say to them. However, once the social interaction has begun, there will be very little internal monologue. In those situations, the character is very much relying on instinct. After the interaction, if the character feels that they messed up (which is likely; be sure to pick up on even the slightest fumbles or awkward pauses), they should keep thinking about how they're an idiot and they want to never have to talk to another person again, because they know it'll end the same way. If they feel like they did a good job, they should express surprise at how well it went, congratulate themselves, and say that they should maybe do this more often — although they probably won't.
DO let them have observational skills. Part of the anxiety stems from not always knowing how to/being good at socialising. Thus an anxious person will watch others closely for clues to their performance and acceptance. While it doesn’t always tell the person how they are doing, it does teach them a lot about the people around them and how they feel about each other. The person in a group with SAD may actually have a better idea of who in the group are friends, enemies, annoyed with the others, think they are better, have crushes, and so on. Having SAD doesn’t mean that a person doesn’t know social cues, it means that they underestimate their ability to use them. Don’t confuse SAD with autism.
DO make it influence all decisions. This is one you can do as the writer and not include every bit of internal dialogue. Just keep in mind that Every decision an anxious person makes is put through the anxiety filter first. Even if they are doing things by themselves, they have to evaluate the chances of meeting people, meeting people they know, having to talk to people when they are done. Keep that in mind when writing these characters in order to keep their personality consistent. That said, in general you can think of someone with SAD feeling physically, mentally and emotionally uncomfortable and "out of place" in ordinary social situations - they want out of it, looking for the door, excuse to leave, cut the interaction short. There could be a sense of shame, guilt and self-loathing about not being "good enough", or that there is something broken and wrong with them (or society).
DO give them other traits. Make sure you give them other traits that influence their decisions and drive their motivations. Someone can have anxiety and also love adventure, want to save all the stray dogs, want to help orphans, want to be a basketball hero, etc. One of the big problems with SAD is that it interferes with a person’s desires to do and be other things. It doesn’t always win though. And sometimes a person may decide that an awkward encounter or two is worth taking part in some other activity they love. Just remember to keep your characters balanced.
DO let them find each other. SAD is probably more common than you’d think. Not everyone has a crippling case. You can have characters share their anxiety with each other and comfort each other and help each other through tough times. SAD can make a person feel isolated but they don’t have to be, and often aren’t as isolated as they think. That observational skill can also help them find the right people to share their feelings with. Not all socialising is terrifying, it can often be cathartic.
DON'T'S:
DON'T make them hate people. Social anxiety does not mean that the person afflicted doesn’t like people or always craves solitude. One of the harshest aspects of SAD is that a person may want companionship and friends but still have uncontrollable discomfort when faced with making friends or spending time with the friends they already have. This constant tug-of-war between wanting friends and feeling the anxiety around people can cause a lot of internal pain and lead to other emotions and conditions such as depression. Someone with SAD can have friends. Even a lot of friends. But certain factors may influence how a person with SAD chooses friends more than they influence others. The level of contact is different for everyone and there will be some friends who can take up more time while not taking up more energy on the part of the anxious person. However, SAD can get so bad that the person with it is unable to leave the house for days at a time, ghosting on all social engagements, not answering their phone and ignoring all texts; but that still doesn't mean they hate people.
DON'T always make them succeed. If you are writing about a person with SAD and they are forced again and again to go outside their comfort zone, make them fail. Have them go to a meeting and then duck down a side corridor at the last minute and disappear. Have them talk to a person and then freeze up in the middle of a conversation, at a loss for words. The longer they go without knowing what to say the stronger the anxiety gets and the harder it is to think. Or have them execute the socialising brilliantly but then go into the bathroom and cry from the overwhelming sense of effort it took to look normal. And just because they have had a few successes doesn’t mean that they will start succeeding every time. Sometimes, the energy it takes, even when the interaction was a success, means that next time they are reluctant or too exhausted to do it again.
DON'T always give them "tells". Anxious people can be very good at hiding it. In the example above of the person who socialises brilliantly and then cries in the bathroom, no one knows how hard it was. They only saw the brilliant “performance.” Keep that in mind. Not all people uncomfortable with socialising are bumbling awkward goofballs. Sometimes they actually appear very cool and collected.
DON'T suddenly make their anxiety disappear when they're at the end of their character arc. This pisses me off, anxiety is a life-long condition. It cannot be "overcome" easily. However, the person with it can learn to live with it. They can visit a psychiatrist, get pills prescribed or change their lifestyle completely to fit around their SAD. A person with anxiety always thinks about their anxiety. Even when they are happily at home reading a book, sometimes they will think about an upcoming engagement, or wish they made friends like the characters in their book. Every time a person with SAD makes plans they have to run through a list of criteria before nailing anything down. Will they have time before and after to prep for and cool down from the experience? Is it something they have done before and feel comfortable doing? Can they back out at the last minute if they feel too overwhelmed that day? These are just a fraction of the things that go through an anxious person’s mind before committing to plans. Again, this isn’t an absolute, but for many people with SAD it is a defining characteristic of who they are. They don’t talk to a single person, even a spouse sometimes, or make a doctor’s appointment without the anxiety affecting how they feel, think, and behave. It is always there. Always.
That's it for today folks! I hope everyone has an absolutely fantastic day! 😊❤
