ok sorry i was thinking about this all day

i know i'm so deep in blorbo land with this, this has nothing to do with actual canon anymore + im aware of that. anyway i feel like if dirk goes too long without hal his brain would just spawn another hal inside of it (or vice versa) everyone gets to earth c and after 2 months dirk starts hallucinating red text even when he's not wearing his glasses and starts hearing hal's artificial heartbeat underneath the floorboards at night. in the doomed timeline where the game never happens and dirk eventually withers away in that apartment hal starts speaking to himself as dirk and rationalizes it as being basically the same thing anyway. they were all each other had for so long i think it would do something to them to be separate again

dirk was supposed to have god given d.i.d but he emptied the alters out of his brain by making them robot bodies and sending them off to his friends Jane Plz Babysit My Alter and he didnt want hal to have a body cause he was scared of being completely alone in his own head actually . ☝️ /lying a bit
