For as long as he had lived in White Spire, Jull respected Momma Eeb, but he never feared her. Hobgen on the other hand, unnerved him. Not because the fairy was any physical threat - no Jull could snap his spine in half at the drop of a hat - but because of his skittish behaviour and violent mood swings.

“Kid’s been to the hells and back,” Eeb had told him when he voiced his concern for her new guard dog.

“He’s allowed to lose his mind once in a while.”

Jull wasn’t sure he agreed with her. Especially now when the pyromaniac was perched at his bar, clutching a half empty pint glass in one hand and digging his charred claws into the wood with the other. If it were anyone else he would have booted them for vandalism, but he wasn’t about to provoke Hobgen. Not while he was drunk, cycling between rage and gods knew how to describe his hollow chuckles.

“S’like, fuck’s sake can I have one person in me life who doesn’t fuck off an’ die on me!” The fairy hissed.

“Me parents, me best mate … now Eeb!”

Icewrack was a cold region and its natives were colder. Such uncontrolled expressions would be met with contempt. Jull knew this all too well from experience - the time he dared shed one tear which led to him crawling from an icy ditch, the nicknames that followed, even now the word “fluffy” made his fur stand on end ironically. Perhaps things were different in Revtel. Maybe the fae saw it as normal to be in touch with ones emotions. After all the fair folk were adept at reading outsiders like open books. Cycling through such severe emotions in quick succession could be a smart tactic for gaining sympathy or understanding how the world around them ticks.

Or maybe Hobgen was just a fucking nut. Either way, Jull was paralyzed. Cornered in his own bar and he had no clue how he was going to get out of this.

The strange story of ‘PMC Ryodan’

Over the weekend, the Russian media reported mass brawls at shopping malls in cities across the country. Citing vague police reports, journalists attributed the string of fights to an online subculture built around the Japanese anime “Hunter × Hunter” and an antagonist in the story called Phantom Troupe (Gen’ei Ryodan), also known as the Spiders. After hundreds of arrests, State Duma deputy Nina Ostanina even appealed publicly to Russia’s Interior Ministry, demanding a ban on all content associated with “PMC Ryodan.”

According to a new report by the independent news outlet Mediazona, however, the hysteria surrounding this youth subculture almost completely misunderstands the violence that fueled the weekend’s news. Semantically, the first thing to grasp is that “PMC,” or private military company, is used facetiously when describing the Ryodan group. Despite their spider-themed clothing and love of “Dota rap” (Gen’ei Ryodan apparently owes its following in Russia to a “song” by the “musician” Shadowraze who popularized the fictional gang), Ryodan community members are usually the targets — not the instigators — of the brawls breaking out at youth hangouts in Russia. (The group supposedly got its “PMC” nickname after some of its followers were attacked at a mall and defended themselves better than expected.)

According to research by Mediazona, so-called ofniki or okolofutbolniki (“soccer-related fans”) have organized many of the reported fights, often seeking to punish the anime fans in connection with thoroughly, painfully adolescent squabbles rooted in exchanges in online chatrooms and message boards.

Even conservative “safe Internet” crusader Ekaterina Mizulina criticized Russia’s news media for amplifying the PMC Ryodan story. While she embraces the conspiracy theory that the Ukrainian military is waging a psychological warfare operation to boost fears about Ryodan inside Russia, Mizulina emphasized in a Telegram post that ofniki are responsible for starting many of these fights, and she argued that the real culprit in these brawls is teenage boredom and Russia’s failure to engage young people constructively. (To address this problem, she urges even more state involvement in “steering” the energies of the nation’s youth.) Incidentally, Ukrainian officials in cities as far apart as Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk have also complained about violent flashmobs supposedly involving PMC Ryodan.

one of my favourite tiny tidbits of lore in dota is that pudge, slark and traxex are friends

it has not been referenced outside of one entire voice line but im obsessed with it. what a gang! what a dynamic! love them actually!

Blizzard is such a bad company. And i dont just mean their harassment/culture problems, which is MORE than enough reason to hate them, but just...how completely misguided every other move they make is. They'll do one REALLY COOL thing and then they'll just. Go and retcon it the next patch, CONSTANTLY. And i'd say its all a scheme to try and get people to keep paying them but ive been a fan of theirs since like...03? And I feel confident in saying theyve just got some really brilliant voices as well as some remarkably stupid voices controlling them.

Like i really started noticing it when WoD came out. The previous xpac, MoP had some AMAZING areas, great gameplay, and a really interesting storyline with ACTUAL character arcs, TIED INTO THE LORE OF THE WORLD, and then...It turns out the final boss of MoP, Garrosh Hellscream, wasn't dead. He was secreted away to the past by a time dragon and split the timeline. This is revealed in not anywhere in-game, but in a NOVEL. It was the 'Somehow, Palpatine Returned' of the world of warcraft. Now theres an alternate timeline version of a place you once visited, and you're set up thinking, oh, Garrosh will be the big bad again? Or maybe that time dragon! NOPE! Instead, Garrosh is killed in a cutscene in a quest BY CHRIS METZENS INSERT CHARACTER, before even getting to a raid! And the dragon? He's killed off-screen. By Garrosh. You find that out in an optional questline. So who is the big bad, maybe its Grom Hellscream, who's the leader of this massive gang that Garrosh caused, but NO! Its Gul'Dan, an orc who was basically the big bad boss of the MAIN timeline. Because of course it is.

This kept happening btw. I could go on for hours about WoW's bullshit. They have a habit of setting up an UNBELIEVABLY cool scenario, and then having it end in UNBELIEVABLY STUPID ways, leading to another UNBELIEVABLY cool scenario. They do this with features too. Do you know what made Warcraft big in the first place? In Warcraft 3 they had an ability to create your own scenarios even for multiplayer play. One of the really popular ones was called Defense of the Ancients, or DOTA. Sound familiar? Well when Warcraft 3 Reforged came out, which was a HD remake of the original, guess what was missing??? You guessed it! They gutted the VERY REASON THEY GOT POPULAR OUT OF SPITE.

Overwatch 2's pve mode being gone is the same old same old for these fuckers. Its a company with some BRILLIANT voices, making some INCREDIBLE ideas!!! And then they get forced into doing something really stupid because of the shitty ones. And from the sounds of it, most of the ones with the most control are the shitty ones.
