Double Dutch World Champions. Today many people don't know that Double Dutch was an integral part of hip-hop culture and history. Adrienne "Nikki" Adams Howell, Delores Brown Finlayson, De'Shone Adams Goodson, and Robin Oakes Watterson met as junior high schoolers on the Lower East Side in 1978.
That year, a double dutch team of four Black girls known as Black Magic from The Vill projects in CT would win their state's double dutch championship, which was comprised of 40,000 jumpers. For their victory prize, they were flown to London to tour and jump, of course. It was all turned into a documentary.

As part of the Black American style of jumping, stepping and singing hand clapping game songs with a twist that have been passed down for generations are usually incorporated into the mix, like in the videos below.
Nowadays, we even have non-competitive 40+ Double Dutch Clubs, which was started by a woman named Pamela Robinson from the South Side of Chicago:
