Jace was usually capable of complete shut out of his emotions. Yet, he had come here and had Alec not know who he was and Clary barely knew herself. Seeing Jem after everything was great, but painful all at once. Hard to keep his mind and face completely alone. Being a herondale was something he was but didn't have any understanding of. Jem had been a fixture of that life and that past. did that mean Tessa was there or Kit? He didn't need the former silent brother. Yet, it would be a lashing to open skin if he didn't remember him. So his golden cat eyes widened and rounded for a moment upon seeing it before falling back into its sleepy lion nature. Jem. James Carstairs. He wanted to reach for his stele. Or maybe throw something hard. "Jem?" he asked. No emotion in it. But question.
