Im finally excited to finally share the fic I’ve gotten to work on for the very first ever Ecto-Implosion event! This whole fic was born from the amazing piece of art by @ryd3rthest4r!

This is a crossover fic between Danny Phantom and American Dragon: Jake Long. I love these two fandoms so much and was excited to get to create something that meshes their two worlds together!

Jake took one look at Danny’s face and decided not to ask why the heck he’d turned up on Jake’s doorstep at this hour, instead stepping back to let him in, but Danny just shook his head and said, “Promise me that you’ll stop me.”

“Promise you what now?” Jake asked, wondering if he should call up Randy and Adrien, even considering the time change.

“Before…before I become him,” Danny said, making no sense at all, “stop me, even it means killing me, destroying me, trapping me, whatever, just don’t let me become him.”

Chapter 2 Sneak Peek:

The three friends cautiously make their way deeper into the warehouse, picking up flower petals as they go. Trixie sticks close by, scanning their surroundings with her flashlight.

Jake freezes as he reaches down to pick up another petal. Right next to it, a bright green splatter stains the floor. It looks wet, like it was just dropped, and it’s glowing slightly. It looks radioactive.

Somewhere behind him, Spud sneezes loudly, but Jake can’t tear his gaze away from the unnatural splatter in front of him.

“Uh, Jakey, what do you think this is?” Trixie asks nervously.

He looks up to see a huge smear of the same glowing substance on the wall where Trixie is pointing her flashlight.

“Beats me. It’s here on the floor, too,” he admits. Frowning, he glances at the floor directly behind Trixie. There’s more of this splatter on the floor and walls, leading down the hallway and around the corner like a trail.

He points it out to her, and they follow after it wordlessly. What could have done something like this? It’s almost like… blood? But blood isn’t green. He’s seen a lot of creatures in his adventures, but nothing with glowing green blood.

Chapter 4 Sneak Peak:

Jake feels like he really knocked it out of the park with this one. By destroying all these flowers, he gets to do his job as the guardian of magical creatures and thwart the Huntsclan all in one fell swoop. He’s still not really sure what they wanted all of this for, but they were obviously hurting Danny, so if he can at least stop them from doing that, he’ll call it a win.

His satisfaction, however, is currently completely overcast with the worry and fear he feels for Spud’s safety. He feels guilty for not keeping track of his friend. Who is he to call himself a protector when he can’t even protect those close to him? Spud could be anywhere, and they’ve already searched a lot of the warehouse.

As he ignites another small pile of the seemingly endless red blossoms — and seriously, Jake’s never seen this many flowers in his whole life — he glances back at the ghost behind him. Danny seems to be doing slightly better. He’s starting to favor his injured side less often, and he even looks like he’s gained some color.

That surprises Jake. He didn’t remember Shackles Jack being this… lively. Danny did say he was different from other ghosts. Jake would have to remember what that meant when this is all over.

Ready to start gathering another pile of flowers, Jake continues forward, taking a sharp turn around a giant stack of boxes. He jumps back immediately, shushing Trixie as she tries to ask a question. Danny just raises an eyebrow at him.

“Huntsclan,” he whispers as quietly as he can. Around the corner are just under a dozen Huntsclan members, all carrying mean looking weapons and looking like they were on the prowl for something. Jake would bet money that he knows what they’re looking for.

His skin tingles at the promise of a fight, but he still feels uneasy about where Spud might be. He wants to find his friend and make sure he’s safe before he gets into an all out brawl with the Huntsclan. With all his friends in one place, including Danny, he’ll be able to keep an eye on all of them easier, and protect them if the Huntsclan tries to start something.

Luckily, it doesn’t seem like the hunters spotted him. He’ll avoid them for now, and come back after he’s found Spud. He at least knows where they are. He motions silently at Trixie and Danny to start moving in the other direction, and they follow his lead in sneaking quietly away.

Jake’s plan goes up in smoke when, in front of them, from around another corner, three more Huntsclan members appear. There’s no time for them to hide or get out of the way, and there’s a brief moment where both groups are frozen, just staring at each other.

Then, unfortunately, the Huntsclan makes the first move. One of them points at Jake and shouts loudly, “It’s the American Dragon! He’s with the ghost!”

“Crud,” Danny groans.

“Aw, man,” Jake says, hearing the larger Huntsclan group behind them rally themselves. They’re surrounded.

Chapter 3 Sneak Peak:

There’s a dragon in front of him. An honest-to-god, real-life dragon. With bright red scales, green hair, wings, and a tail. Definitely not a ghost. He doesn’t look like a ghost. Plus, Danny’s ghost sense never went off.

And the dragon is also maybe a shapeshifter? Who can change at will, no amulet needed, unlike Dora. He doesn’t see a trace of the kid who had just grabbed him, only his friend, who was now approaching them with caution, flashlight back in hand.

He called himself “the American Dragon”, like Danny is supposed to know what that is. He feels a little bad; the guy clearly hasn’t met many people who don’t know him.

The pain of the blood blossoms around is ever-present, so it’s hard for Danny to do much thinking at the moment, too focused on gritting his teeth and not passing out.

“Well, uh,” the dragon continues, haltingly. “My name is Jake, I guess. I’m the American Dragon.” He rubs at his neck with a clawed hand. “Which means it’s sort of my job to protect magical creatures. Like you.” He studies Danny, reptilian eyes zeroing in on the wound in his side, which is still sluggishly leaking ectoplasm. “Did the Huntsclan do that to you?”

Danny hugs his side a little tighter. “If you’re talking about those crazy guys in ninja outfits that are trying to hunt me down. Then, yes.”

Jake snorts. He holds his hand out again, and this time Danny takes it, pulling himself up with effort. He grunts as his side pulls uncomfortably. He holds on to Jake’s scaly arm for support, blinking away the darkness in his vision. He finds it surprisingly stable and pleasantly warm to the touch, compared to his own icy cold hands.
