"Honor Lives not Deaths"

Today, I came across various obituaries on X dedicated to the Late PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, sharing various anecdotes about his simplicity and humility. Additionally, I noticed numerous positive comments about him across various social media platforms. It struck me that, while he was alive, such positive words were scarcely spoken, yet now they are abundant in the media.
#Appreciation #Cherish #hypocrisy
This observation led me to ponder the hypocrisy that often governs us humans. People tend to speak well of someone only after they have passed away. They visit homes to pay homage and attend cremation ceremonies as a mark of respect, or to show their concern or sorrow over the loss of a loved one, be it a relative, friend, or acquaintance. But what is the point of showing concern when someone is already gone and unable to hear or see your words or feel your absence? This seems like pure hypocrisy—a way to show society that everything is fine in one's heart.
#Memories #Value ##tribute
It would have been far more meaningful to say good words about him while he was alive, to write on social media about his good deeds and simplicity, or to interview him. However, none of this was done. In real life, too, we witness such hypocrisy, where people gather only at funerals. When the person was alive, longing for a chat due to cherished memories and long associations, they were often ignored because others had different priorities and couldn't find the time—be it a week, a month, or even years.
Now, sharing anecdotes when someone is gone is futile. Your value lies in recognizing and appreciating a person while they are alive. Once a person is gone, these gestures become valueless.
#Legacy #Humility #Respect

[ad_1] Guwahati: A day after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was cremated at Delhi's Nigambodh Ghat, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday accused the Congress of attempting to trigger a controversy over the party veteran's last rites.  He alleged that the grand-old party was trying to trigger a row over ex-PM's cremation despite the Central govt's announcement of a “fitting memorial” to honour his legacy.Sarma said it was not the first time that the Congress has "shown such disregard – be it towards the legacy of Narasimha Rao or Pranab Mukherjee, the party has, unfortunately, treated its own with indifference”.The CM’s remarks came after the Congress accused the Centre of insulting Singh, the country's first Sikh prime minister, by performing his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat instead of a designated spot that could be turned into his memorial.Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had said the BJP-led Centre had "totally insulted" Singh by performing his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat. The BJP maintained that the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had allocated space for Singh's memorial and also informed his family about it, and accused the Congress of indulging in "cheap politics" over the former PM’s cremation."Dr Manmohan Singh, a statesman of unparalleled dignity and intellect, deserved much better, both in life and in death. It is deeply disheartening to witness the Congress Party attempting to stir controversy around his final journey, diminishing the solemnity it truly deserved," Sarma said in a post on X.The BJP leader said the people of India have bid Singh, who was a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam for over two decades, including during his tenure as PM, a respectful and heartfelt farewell, recognising his invaluable contributions to the nation."Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji has already announced a fitting memorial to honour his legacy, reflecting the nation's gratitude. Yet, the actions of some, who seek to turn this moment of mourning into an opportunity for political gain, are deeply painful," Sarma said."The public still remembers the indignities inflicted upon Dr Singh during his tenure, including Rahul Gandhi's infamous gestures that undermined his stature. Such actions remain etched in the nation's memory," he said.Sarma, who was with the Congress before joining the saffron party, asserted that after his death, Singh's “legacy should not be sullied by political opportunism”."Let us honour his memory with the dignity and respect he so richly deserves, free from any discord or manipulation by the leadership of the congress party," the CM added. (With PTI inputs) [ad_2] Source link

Dr. Pranab Mukherjee
Namashkar. You are listening to a Divyansh Garg podcast. You can now listen to my podcasts on Youtube and Spotify and get them in a blog format on tumblr. Use headphones for a better experience. On 31st August 2020 the Bharat Ratna awardee passed away. The 13th President of Independent India, one of the oldest congress leaders, he was Dr. Pranab Mukherjee. So let’s have a detailed look on his journey.
But before that, it often comes in our mind that why am I talking about this person? Aisa kya contribute kiya hai unhone hmari country ke liye? Why is he so important? The answer to this question is very simple. He was among the last of the Congress leaders to have worked closely with Indira Gandhi. Mukherjee’s death marks the end of an era in the Congress. He has severed our country as foreign, defense, commerce and finance minister. He was also a Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission. Nevertheless Mukherjee served the country as its 13th President for five years from 2012 to 2017.
So let’s begin with his journey. Pranab da was born into a Bengali family at Mirati, a village in the Bengal Presidency of British India. Unke pitaji, Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee was active in the Indian independence movement and was a member of West Bengal Legislative Council as a representative of the Indian National Congress. Unki ma thi Rajlakshmi Mukherjee. Unke do siblings bhi the: older sister Annapurna and younger brother Piyush.
On growing up he earned an MA degree in Political Science & History and an LL.B. degree; both from University of Calcutta. Unki shadi Suvra Mukherjee se hui. In 1963, he became a lecturer of Political Science at Vidyasagar College and he also worked as a Journalist before entering politics. Being a lecturer and a journalist, unhe koi idea nhi tha ki vo kabhi politics me bhi apne kadam rakhenge. But destiny wanted something else.
Pranab da’s political journey started in West Bengal when he was the election agent for VK Krishna Menon, who won the election as an independent candidate. Later, He became a member of Rajya Sabha in July 1969 on a Bangla Congress ticket. And then there was no turning back. The Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, had recognised Mukherjee's talents and recruited him to her party, the Indian National Congress. It was her who brought in the ‘little master’ to the Rajya Sabha as a member of the Bangla Congress. Mukherjee also became a Gandhi loyalist aur unhe Indira Gandhi ji ka "man for all seasons” bhi kaha jane laga.
Mukherjee received his first ministerial assignment with Indira Gandhi in 1973, first as junior minister of industrial development. Within two years, he was elevated as a deputy minister with independent charge of revenue and banking departments. Bombay smuggling underworld don Haji Mastan ke upar kai crackdowns lagwane ki wajah se ve boht hi jald surkhiyo me aane lage the.
Mukherjee was active in the Indian cabinet during the controversial Internal Emergency of 1975–77. Ruling Congress politicians of the day including Mukherjee ko aksar accuse bhi kiya jata h for using extra-constitutional powers to "wreck established norms and rules of governance." In 1982, shortly after Gandhi returned to power from the post-Emergency oblivion, she appointed Mukherjee as India’s finance minister, replacing R Venkataraman.
As finance minister, Mukherjee had fiery innings. International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan ke $1.1 billion ki instalment vapis pahuchne ke sath hi unhone puri duniya ko surprise kr diya tha. A cautious reformer, he was nevertheless the first to stoke up expenditure without letting inflation get out of hand. He also opened the NRI investment window, which pioneered sweeping changes in India’s image as a destination of foreign funds.
Lekin Indira Gandhi ke assassination ke bad Mukherjee ko congress se side kr diya gya tha. Although Mukherjee was much more experienced in politics than Indira's son, Rajiv Gandhi, it was Rajiv who gained control. Mukherjee lost his position in the cabinet and was sent to manage the regional West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee. He was considered to be Indira's likely successor and, siding with those within his party who aligned themselves against Rajiv Gandhi, Mukherjee was sidelined and eventually expelled from the mainstream.
Mukherjee's political career revived following Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 when P. V. Narasimha Rao chose to appoint him as deputy chairman of the Indian Planning Commission and subsequently as a union cabinet minister. Mukherjee served as External Affairs Minister for the first time from 1995 to 1996 in Rao's cabinet. Mukherjee also played a pivotal role in helping the India-US civil nuclear agreement sail through despite threat of the government being toppled.
Mukherjee became Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha in 2004. Jab 2004 me Sonia Gandhi ne pm bnne se mana kr diya to ye assume kiya gya ki ab Mukherjee hi pm ki kudsi smbhalenge. However, Manmohan Singh was chosen. Though he played many important roles in Manmohan Singh’s government. He served five times as a member of Rajya Sabha and twice as a member of the Lok Sabha. He was conferred Padma Vibhusan, India’s second-highest civilian award, in 2008.
Known for his sharp memory, clarity of thought and grasp over issues, Mukherjee has the rare distinction of serving as foreign, defence, commerce and finance minister. He was also a Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission. And finally, Mukherjee served the country as its 13th President for five years from 2012 to 2017.
Apne presidential career me unka kabhi kisi bhi political party se clash nhi hua. Such a living legend he was. His story tells us about the true meaning of struggle. Kitni bar unpr saval uthaye gaye aur na jane kitni bar unhe neeche girane ki koshish ki gayi. But his calm and focused attitude was above the world’s obligations. Itna bada life lesson hme vo aaj  deke gaye hai. And 2012 me, he got what he actually deserved. May his soul rest in peace. Dhanyavad.

Congress suddenly remembers PV Narasimha Rao, but fails to join the dots
Tumblr media
The former PM’s centenary celebrations should be an occasion to reflect on Congress’ blind supplication to the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty rather than an empty exercise in symbolism
On Friday, former prime minister Manmohan Singh paid a handsome tribute to another former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, who headed the Union government when the former was the finance minister.
The occasion was incidentally the 29th anniversary of Singh’s epoch-making budget of 1991, which unspooled a slew of reforms that ultimately transformed the Indian economy on the way to making it a powerhouse. Singh described Rao as the ‘father of economic reforms’, whilst inaugurating yearlong celebrations commemorating Rao’s birth centenary, which will culminate on 28 June 2021.
Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh’s message on the birth centenary celebrations of Former PM Shri #PVNarasimhaRao pic.twitter.com/7zPK4NyxSe
 Congress (@INCIndia) July 24, 2020
Several preliminary points need to be made. First, consonant with the political culture that pervades the Congress, Singh also paid a tribute to a Gandhi. “Economic reforms were preceded by a push in that direction when Rajiv Gandhi was Prime Minister,” he said.
That may not be in dispute, but the fact that Singh found it necessary to make the point while celebrating Rao is significant.
Second, what Singh said is hardly news. The politically and historically literate are only too aware that Rao picked Singh as finance minister, gave him the mandate for economic reforms and his unstinting political backing despite leading a minority government, which he made sure went the distance. All the way from 1991 to 1996.
Whatever initial impetus Rajiv may have provided, the decision to embark upon groundbreaking economic reforms of the scale undertaken was practically unimaginable, even if forced by an unprecedented crisis of foreign exchange reserves. It needed the utmost political courage and sagacity, not to speak of imagination. Both Rao and Singh provided these ingredients.
The difference in the way the Congress has remembered the legacies of the two men, however, stand in stark contrast. Less than a decade after demitting office after the Congress lost power in 1996, Singh became prime minister, which he remained for two terms. Rao, on the other hand, was almost forgotten. In the quarter of a century or so, since 1996, Rao has not officially been celebrated as the man who pioneered economic reforms. Singh’s tribute is handsome, but much delayed.
It’s not just that Rao was forgotten and ignored after his death in 2004. He was left to fend for himself when in life he was subjected to obloquy after being implicated in a vote-buying case and convicted. It is, of course, no one’s case that corruption should be condoned, but it could have been expected that his party would have given him some support in difficult times.
Of a piece with the quarter of a century of neglect is the fact that the Gandhi family played no great role in kicking off Rao’s centenary celebrations. Whilst Singh did the heavy lifting, former President Pranab Mukherjee, and former ministers P Chidambaram and Jairam Ramesh attended the function. Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her predecessor Rahul Gandhi sent appropriately respectful messages, but did not bother to attend the event.
The question, of course, is: why has the Congress suddenly rediscovered Rao? The possibility that he could be appropriated by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi could have played a role. The Congress leadership may correctly feel that it needs all the symbolic play it can get. Rao can provide quite a lot of it at a time when the economy is in focus.
Rao made a seminal contribution to transforming India during a critical period of the country’s history, but that doesn’t define Congress. Rather it is the dynastic culture that has come to define the party and, incidentally, brought it to its current critical pass.
The dynastic principle was first introduced into the Congress by Indira Gandhi in the run-up to the Emergency, by promoting her delinquent younger son, Sanjay Gandhi; allowing him to virtually take over the organisation in partnership with her; and by encouraging him to emerge as an extra-constitutional arbiter in the affairs of the government. She followed this up, after Sanjay’s death, by shoehorning an initially reluctant Rajiv into politics.
It was only a familial vacuum, caused by Sonia’s refusal to enter the political arena, which allowed Rao the opportunity to become party chief and the Prime Minister of India. Thereafter, though Singh did become a two-term prime minister, as we all know, the reins of both the party and the government remained in Sonia’s hands. That she acquitted herself reasonably well is another matter.
But Sonia’s successor did anything but acquit himself reasonably well. To be charitable, the best one could say is that Rahul has good intentions. If that is true, it is also true that, in accordance to the old adage, they have paved the road to perdition for the party.
Rahul neither has the nous nor the bottle to rejuvenate a failing organisation, which is best illustrated by his instinct to cut and run whenever problems seem to become insurmountable and responsibilities too onerous.
Obviously, however, to ascribe all of the Congress’ problems to the failings of an individual or a family would be too facile. It is the party as a whole that has failed to transform a dysfunctional system and pernicious culture in an attempt to live up to its responsibilities — and in the current circumstances, the Congress, as the only nationwide opposition party, has a whole lot of responsibilities. The democratic system in general terms cannot prosper without a viable, indeed vigorous, opposition.
The Congress had a palpable opportunity to break from its dynastic shackles last year when, in the wake of the party’s electoral debacle, Rahul quit the president’s post, repeatedly snubbed attempts made by the leadership to get him to change his mind and announced that his successor would have to come from outside the family.
It took the party leadership two and a half months or so to accept the fact that Rahul was not going to change his mind and finally persuaded Sonia to accept the president’s post in an interim capacity. A year on, she continues to be interim chief. No attempt has been made to elect a president democratically according to absolutely categorical procedures laid down in the party’s constitution.
When the party was without a head, it lost its government in Karnataka. In the current situation of drift, which Sonia cannot stem primarily it appears because of reasons of health, it has lost another government – in Madhya Pradesh. A third is currently in limbo in Rajasthan.
There is really no point in the Congress accusing the BJP of adopting a predatory approach. The political riposte cannot be plaintive, it has to be robust. And it can be robust only if the Congress puts its own house in order.
That cannot be done by waiting for Rahul to return as president at his leisure. A leader must be elected, whomsoever it may be – Rahul, Priyanka, or anybody else. But the new leader must be legitimately elected so that he or she has the mandate to rebuild and reform the party root and branch.
The inauguration of a year of celebrations commemorating Rao’s centenary should be an occasion to reflect on the blind supplication to the dynasty, rather than an empty exercise in symbolism.

Jaipur (Rajasthan), [India], Dec 11 (ANI): The Congress on Tuesday managed to dethrone BJP's Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan and registered a comeback by winning 99 seats out of 199 in the 2018 Assembly elections. The final tally saw BJP finishing second with 73 seats, CPI-M 2, BSP 6, Independents 13 and others 6. The Congress party, however, fell short of a clear majority and will now have to look for allies to cross the half way mark. Already RLD, with one seat, has announced support to the Congress while the CPI-M, that opened its account in the state, too is expected to back. The Congress is expected to stake claim to form the government in Rajasthan on Wednesday. The total assembly strength in Rajasthan is 200. However, the election for Alwar seat was postponed following the death of the BSP candidate. The Congress had in the 2013 Assembly election managed to win only 21 seats in the state. On Tuesday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot gave credit to the party workers for their hard work in the state. However, suspense over the Chief Minister remained as both top contenders for the post-Pilot and Gehlot-maintained silence and AICC observer KC Venugopal said the decision will be taken after wider discussions. Pilot won from Tonk while Gehlot was declared winner from Sardarpura seat. Among prominent Congress winners in Rajasthan were CP Joshi, former union minister in Dr Manmohan Singh government, who won from Nathdwara, and former minister in Gehlot's Cabinet in 2013, Babu Lal Nagar who won from Dudu. At the same time, Congress' top leaders like Leader of Opposition, Rameshwar Lal Dudi lost to BJP's Biharilal and Girija Vyas was defeated by Gulab Chand Kataria in Udaipur. For BJP, Vasundhara Raje was among the prominent winners who defeated Congress candidate Manvendra Singh to retain Jhalrapatan seat. Manvendra, son of former BJP leader Jaswant Singh, lost by 34,980 votes. Another top leader of BJP Rajendra Rathore managed to win by a margin of 1850 votes from Churu against Rafique Mandelia of Congress even as ministers in Raje's Cabinet--Ram Pratap, Arun Chaturvedi, Rajpal Singh Shekhawat and Prabhu Lal Saini-- lost. Another big loss was of Col Sona Ram Choudhary, the BJP MP, who had contested from Barmer. "I would like to congratulate Congress. I accept this mandate by the people. BJP has worked a lot for them in these 5 years, I hope the next party takes those policies and works forward," Raje said after submitting her resignation to Governor Kalyan Singh. The Congress party has been making efforts for its revival in the state with Sachin Pilot literally stationed in Rajasthan for the last four years. Though Rajasthan has a tradition of going for change every five years, the Congress is hoping to consolidate its gains and at least make a dent in BJP's vote bank during the upcoming 2019 General Elections. Pilot said that the people of the state had expressed their anger against the ruling BJP through the ballot in the state. He added that the BJP had "betrayed the trust" of the people over the last five years and the Congress had got what it had expected. The former union minister said it was a reflection of public anger against the BJP, which is ruling at the Centre and was in power in the state as well. "There was betrayal of trust of the people by the BJP... I am satisfied that we got what we had expected. This is a victory of the public. I thank the voters for giving us this mandate," Pilot said. CPI-M also made inroads in the Rajasthan Assembly winning Shri Dungargarh and Bhadra seats. CPI-M was the party behind the major farmer movements in the state demanding loan waivers, better pricing for their produce and implementation of Swaminathan Committee recommendations. Apart from farmers' distress, issues of mob lynching by cow vigilantes and unemployment also dominated the election atmosphere in Rajasthan. The Congress in its manifesto made several lucrative promises such as farm loan waiver, allowance of Rs 3,500 to educated unemployed youths, free education to girls and bringing an Accountability Bill within 30 days of coming into power. Congress also announced to free farm equipment from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and pensions for the old farmers. To woo the Hindu voters, the party also promised to set up the 'Gauchar Bhumi Board' to ensure adequate fodder for cows. "Our manifesto is not just a document, but a commitment," Pilot had said at the time of manifesto release. Congress president Rahul Gandhi had campaigned heavily in this state and the party also used its star campaigner Navjot Singh Sidhu in Rajasthan. In Rajasthan Congress did exceptionally well in the rural areas. The BJP too tried to woo the voters through incentives and sops. BJP promised jobs for the youths in private and public sectors and Rs 1 lakh crore loans to farmers in the next five years. It announced a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 5,000 for the 21-year-old educated unemployed youths. Keeping in view the huge vote bank of farmers, the BJP vowed to disburse loans to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore co-operative farm loans, double their income, and spend Rs 6,060 crore to address the problem of water shortage in Jawai dam. Outgoing Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje claimed to have completed 630 promises out of a total of 665 that were made in the previous manifesto of the BJP. Highlighting the work done in the state for the welfare and safety of women, Raje said that her government had adopted several measures for the welfare of women and girls. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during the manifesto release said that developing infrastructure projects like highways and ports have been a priority of the BJP government in the state and once called 'Bimaru Rajya,' Rajasthan was now a state with revolutionary development all around. Despite all this, the voters had made their mind for a change. (ANI)

via Today Bharat nbsp; Ahead of the 10th anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, the scholars, former diplomats and US officials have said that another terrorist attack in India originating from Pakistan could easily escalate into a regional war. Notably, around 166 people including Americans were killed in the massive attack carried out by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists. While nine of the attackers were killed by police, the lone survivor Ajmal Kasab was captured and hanged after handed down death sentence by Supreme Court. However, perpetrators of the 26/11 attack, including its mastermind and banned Jamat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Speed continue to roam freely in Pakistan, which indicates that Islamabad is not at all serious in bringing them to justice. On the other hand, the US has offered a $10 million reward for information that brings Saeed to justice. Unfortunately, the 26/11 attack case has entered into the 10th year but none of its seven suspects in Pakistan has been punished yet. Talking to news agency PTI, former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) official Bruce Riedel said, ldquo; The victims of 26/11 have yet to see the masterminds of the attack in the LeT and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) face justice; unfortunately, that is virtually impossible in Pakistan.rdquo; Riedel also believes that another terror attack in India of similar magnitude would result in a war between the two countries. ldquo; If another attack of this magnitude occurs, there will be war, rdquo; he added. Meanwhile, Pakistanrsquo;s former envoy to the US Husain Haqqani said, ldquo; With US-Pakistan relations in a tailspin and hawkish attitudes dominating the subcontinent, one cannot predict if and how the situation would be controlled in the event of another major terrorist attack in India, with clear linkages to groups in Pakistan.rdquo; Haqqani further asserted that Pakistan must fulfill its promise of acting against the masterminds of the 26/11 attack. He said, ldquo; That it has chosen to let them operate freely raises the justifiable concern that Pakistanrsquo;s deep state does not want to deter or punish terrorists responsible for attacks in India.rdquo; ldquo; In 2008, Pakistanrsquo;s promise of acting against the LeT and those involved in the Mumbai attack prevented escalation of India-Pakistan hostilities. The US also helped calm things down by sharing intelligence with both Pakistan and India, rdquo; he added. Anish Goel, who was director of South Asia in the National Security Council of the White House at the time of the 26/11 attack, told PTI, ldquo; The India-Pakistan war was a primary concern and a primary scenario that we wanted to avoid.rdquo; Noting that there was a lot of pressure on then PM Manmohan Singh ldquo;to react kineticallyrdquo;, Goel said then US president George Bush and secretary of state Condoleezza Rice had to make a lot of efforts including several phone calls to New Delhi, Islamabad and leaders of several American allies to prevent such a scenario. ldquo;Bush was very concerned, and got on phone with Dr Singh immediately, offering condolences and urging restraint, rdquo; he said. ldquo;Therersquo;s a lot of public pressure. I think prime minister Singh himself was showing a lot of restraint and was not inclined to do a counter attack right away, but there was a lot of political pressure on him to do so,rdquo; Goel added. ldquo; The US, I believe mdash; I donrsquo;t know for sure, you have to ask the Indian government to know mdash; having counseling or urging him to show restraint, gave him some sort of political leeway and maneuverability to resist the domestic political pressures from those calling for a quick counterstrike on Pakistan, rdquo; he said, adding that at no point there was any evidence of military mobilisation. ldquo; There was a sense of nervousness in the then Bush administration about a possible nuclear war in South Asia. The Mumbai terror attack started a day before Thanksgiving ndash; a national holiday in the US ndash; and did not end till Sunday, the last day of the long weekend. Bush not only held situation room meeting on Saturday, but also mobilised his entire administration to try and prevent escalation of the tension, rdquo; Goel said. On the other hand, a senior former Obama administration official said that if another attack would have happened like that, it would quickly escalates into a regional war. ldquo; The current government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already taken a tough line against Islamabad including a surgical strike, rdquo; the official said on anonymity. ldquo;I could certainly foresee a situation where PM Modi escalates those quite a bit in response to the terrorist attack. Then for the US government, I just donrsquo;t know if the Trump administration would counsel restraint the way the Bush administration did, rdquo; he said. ldquo; The Trump administration might say Indians are justified, rdquo; he said. ldquo; Not only are we not going to stop you, but wersquo;re going to help you. I donrsquo;t know that they would do, but I donrsquo;t know if they would carry the same message of constraints, rdquo; he added/ ldquo; So, when yoursquo;re talking about what could happen in the region, if there was another Mumbai attack after the Pakistanis have promised therersquo;s no terrorists operating in our country and wersquo;re going after all of them, I could see a scenario which quickly escalates into a regional war, rdquo; the former official concluded.

The former PM’s centenary celebrations should be an occasion to reflect on Congress’ blind supplication to the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty rather than an empty exercise in symbolism On Friday, former prime minister Manmohan Singh paid a handsome tribute to another former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, who headed the Union government when the former was the finance minister. Manmohan Singh’s message on the birth centenary celebrations of Former PM Shri #PVNarasimhaRao pic.twitter.com/7zPK4NyxSe — Congress (@INCIndia) July 24, 2020 Several preliminary points need to be made. Is India leaning towards the one-party state ambition of BJP!
A history which, we as Indians should always remember: The sacrifice and Contribution of our forefathers, we as Indians should always remember!
A Little into history of our Country
Indian politics is evidence of changing its game ever since Independence and mainly the reasons for corruption, weak governance has played a major role in turning down major political parties ending to dust.
Before Independence, India was a colony under British rule and parties such as All-India Congress party and All India Muslim League were some of the parties which strived hard for the Independence. Then, came a time when India was torn apart in two, the most heartbreaking moment for the Indians leading to the death and misery of more than a million people in both India and Pakistan.
The religion differences which demanded a separate nation of Muslims and the high desire of Jinnah led the Congress to take a tough decision in making a new state or nation- Pakistan! Even though many Muslims stayed back and decided not to go with the state of Pakistan. But many who wished was a tough decision for them to relocate. It wasn’t just the people from India but also in the newly formed state had many Hindus living there for decades and believed to be tortured and forced to convert or leave the country.
For any person or a family to leave their home and relocate to a place from where they had to start at Zero could be rather giving up lives. The same happened with many- either they were killed by the corrupt minded or gave up their lives in a fear of threat.
In between all this was the biggest task- To annex all the princely states into the Republic Of India and without which would be impossible to establish the dream for which the Freedom fighters struggled for. It was the dream of many leaders including our father Mahatma Gandhi Ji to see India standing united as one nation.
As, the Nation struggled to get annexed into a single country under the Leadership of the then Home Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, parallel to it, the Constitution was undergoing into a framework by the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly of India under the presidency of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Under all these circumstances was the concern of elections for Congress and in such when most of the Indian population being illiterate, the first experiment to list out the eligible voters and a requirement to enroll the list of more than 175 million names had to be compiled ahead with difficulties, initially the Congress came to power and the first Prime Minister- Jawaharlal Nehru elected to office by the elected members.
A stone-breaking job initially for the government to set the electoral rules and the Constitution for a country with people of high magnitude! But, then the Congress had a goal, commanded a high respect in the people which strived hard donating the Youth- life for the country’s struggle.
The sentiments were high and the reward which people gave them was the power of the biggest democracy in the world. More than 70 Years Congress commanded the same respect until recent events leading to a change in tone of people- Yes, the people of India are onto their changing minds and possibly the results talk something more.
Lok Sabha election results since 1952- present (an understandable comparison of numbers in decline at Loksabha polls of 131 Years old party: Congress)

The results are volatile depending on the cause elections are campaigned in the people. Despite, of all such volatile results, if considered elections held before 2014- Congress never came below three digits expected to be always in power, either close to it for the trust and the party with a high exposure to more number of seats since the country’s Independence.
Until what happened recently- which not just left the party in a threat and unpredicted results but the world at a very first time looked India as a hope for the future and the people of India showed it to come real exposing their unity, giving a non- Congress party for the first time a pure majority forming an unbiased government and moreover giving a blow to the Congress party reducing it to two digits!
The UPA-2 government which faced many charges of corruption, start from a tiny document to the various scams and inefficiency of the government to bring down such a system to justice where also the dignity and security of this Country was felt to be compromised under the unstoppable corruptions by the politicians showed an unforgettable example to all the parties contesting elections and overthrowing the long-supported culture by people giving it a flavor for presence of upcoming literate new voters!
Now, why is that the BJP’s dream for a Congress-MUKT Bharat seen true?
Congress has been in power since 70 years, BJP believes in the Congress party to be a party of ambitionless, lack in leadership and the most corrupt party working on a policy of British rule- ‘a divide and rule policy’, never to forget the same party worked hard to attain Independence.
It also cannot be ignored, the corruption charges which are imposed on the Congress. Its been 70 years and thus we still live on the policies and platforms which the British left. So, what has the Congress done except a few reforms which were a must and at some point was of profit for the party Leaders!
Time’s change and so do the people- and so are the people of India, the old stock of generation is closing its chapter and opening a way for the new generation to takeover its Country- is it the reason, youth not following the same path as their ancestors?
Or, the people aren’t satisfied with the work or policies held by Congress?
In a situation of such- Need to have a change, either in its Leadership or the policies!
What about the state elections, is Congress doing well?
A few election results in the states like Goa, Mizoram and Punjab proved to be good where they managed to top but except Punjab- they weren’t able to form the government due to some differences or Lack in leadership of seriousness in the National Congress party.
Situation of Congress party in States before 2014 Loksabha elections-
The Blue States indicate Congress Government and the Saffron for BJP
The Congress ruled states were apparently equal to the BJP ruled states giving a competitive score on the board for every election in states. But, the people dreamt for a Leader whose unquestionable ability can bring India back ‘the Golden Days’.
Mr. Manmohan Singh (Former-PM of INDIA)
The agitation by various sects against the Corruption and a Prime Minister (Former-PM Mr. Manmohan Singh) once known for his economic reforms looked to be a puppet unacceptable by any Indian called out for a Leader and the timing which BJP took advantage by making the most powerful person and Chief Minister of Gujarat as its Prime Ministerial Candidate i.e. Mr. Narendra Modi!
Mr. Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of INDIA)
The elections were pretty interesting in which the BJP swept keeping Congress limited to two digits. This didn’t end here, for every elections of state assembly- the Brand Ambassador for BJP wasn’t a state leader but is Prime Minister Narendra Modi under which the BJP swept most of the states. Also, a close aide Mr. Amit Shah known for his skills in politics- a key person at the backend to make the party win or open an unpredicted account of seats in states where it never contested!
States governed by Congress after 2014 elections
The States ruled by Congress and BJP as for now can be seen with Saffron and Green color indications giving a clear message of majority states are under BJP and the number is still to be expected more for the upcoming state elections in states like Karnataka and Gujarat.
The state’s count is required in order to get a majority in upper house i.e. Rajya Sabha, for both the Congress and BJP.
It’s important for Congress making them powerful to keep in check and control the decisions made by the Government in power, whereas the BJP which is currently in power requires a majority to uphold its interests in a smooth functioning of Rajya Sabha where it’s been frequently troubled by the opposition parties.
A major Comparison of India in 1967 v/s the India in 2017
The BJP is on a high par today, achieving state after state- a major blow struck Congress when the MAHAGATHBANDHAN in Bihar- the coalition of RJD, Congress and JD(U) broke and JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar formed the government with BJP- adding another state in favor of NDA!
The Congress party not just losing its ground at the centre but also state after state snatched away from it, is a fear which most people think of ‘Congress- muktha Bharat’ may come true in no matter of time but still the Congress blames it to be the fault of electoral machines and hits out at other things ignoring the key issues rather accepting to think-over the leadership questioned by people!
Top 3 Positions of the Country held by BJP after recent Vice-presidential elections-
BJP, on the other hand, even though it’s a foot away from getting majority in Rajya Sabha, has been able to take away all the 3 Top positions from the Congress i.e.
President – Mr. Ramnath Kovind
Vice-President- Mr. Venkaiah Naidu
Prime Minister- Mr. Narendra Modi
