Tsunami vs Statue

I drew this fight from the Wings of Fire, book series. When Tsunami discovered the statue was the culprit attacking the female dragonet eggs.

I tried to make it look like it was underwater, but I don’t have much experience, so enjoy the bubbles.

𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓂ℯ𝓇𝒶 －It brings to mind a monster with the head of a goat and a lion. Instead of a tail, it has a protruding snake. There is a genetic term that was created from this mixed beast.

ᶠᵘᵗᵃᵏᵘᶜʰⁱ ᵒⁿⁿᵃ ⁻ They are characterized by their two mouths – a normal one located on her face and a second one on the back of the head beneath the hair. Her mouth can spit fire, lasers, tornados, and much more.

𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧 - The story goes that the Headless Horseman is the ghost of a Hessian soldier who was decapitated by canon fire during the Revolutionary War. It was subsequently taken by the Sisterhood of the Radiant Heart to prevent the Horseman of Death from regaining it and summoning the other three horsemen.

𝖡𝗅𝖺𝖼𝗄 𝖽𝗈𝗀 － is a black dog and death omen of Northern England that haunts solitary ways and also takes the form of a horse, mule and cow. Black Dogs are often associated with crossroads, ancient trackways, and places of execution especially as a gallows or gibbet was often placed at a crossroads

𝒟𝓇𝒶ℊℴ𝓃 － Potent and prominent symbol of royalty and good luck. Nidhogg, from Norse mythology, was destined to survive even the end of the world. Dragons made appropriate emblems for the stars mapped by Arabic astronomers.

𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐛 - as one of the seven deadly demons or seven princes of Hell, Beelzebub representing gluttony and envy. Beelzebub uses this rare magic attribute to manipulate space.

𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐚 𝐲𝐚𝐠𝐚 - is a voracious and deformed crone who kidnaps her victims before cooking and eating them. Living in the forest in a hut that stands and moves on chicken legs, she travels in a mortar with a pestle and sweeps away her tracks with a broom.

The first dragon I had drawn since I was a kid, this cuty was a commission for a pixie-like dragon that incorporated some beautiful pride colors for ace and agender alphabet mafia members.

Top: Las 5 canciones que moldearon mi jotería.

1.- I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters

México, 2006. Tengo recuerdos borrosos, pero el canal 11 de la televisión abierta sorprendía algunos sábados por la mañana con una selección de música que en aquél lugar y época podría considerarse "alternativa". Por ahí se coló aquél hit de los hermanos tijeras que me dejó intrigado a la primer escucha, ¡los instrumentos!, ¡el coro!, ¡EL VIDEOCLIP!, definitivamente estremeció a mi yo de 12 años: ¿quién era ese señor enfundado en cuero bailando tan amaneradamente?, ¿por qué salía un hombre con las uñas pintadas?, muchos cuestionamientos para mi -típicamente mexicana- educación machista y heterocentrista.

Pero aquel video fue suficiente para marcarme y saber que había todo un mundo afuera que no conocía todavía. Lo que si tengo claro es la poca aprobación con la que mi mamá me observaba viendo ese video, lo que hizo que se volviera una especie de guilty pleasure y únicamente me animara a escucharla con audífonos, a escondidas.

Me costó varios años escuchar esa canción abiertamente, mas o menos hasta la universidad cuando dejé de vivir con mis papás, recuerdo bailarla con alguno de mis roomies. Se sintió como un abrazo a ese niño que se sintió juzgado.

2.- Hung Up - Madonna

Cuenta la leyenda que los gays adoptamos a una diva del pop que nos acompañará y guiará durante el trago amargo de la adolescencia y el resto nuestra existencia, y la mía, Madonna, llegó a mi vida gracias al éxito y gran acierto que implicó juntarse con Stuart Price y hacer un disco tan redondo y revolucionario como "Confessions on a Dance Floor", revolucionario puede sonar exagerado, pero recordemos que en la radio mexicana del 2005/2006 sonaban cosas como Reik, Sin Bandera o Maná, por lo que el sample de Abba acompañado de esos sintetizadores sonaban como una bocanada de aire fresco.

El video también jugó otro papel importante, Madonna tan sugerente con ese leotardo rosa le hizo creer a mis papás que me atraía aquella señora, aunque en realidad, uno de los primeros crushes que tuve en la vida fue ese bailarín que salía haciendo su coreografía con un pescado, Cloud Campos.

Cuando salió el siguiente single, "Sorry" y gradualmente fue radiada por las estaciones, le pedí a mi abuela que me comprara el disco en el mercado de la colonia que se ponía los domingos, la piratería, como siempre democratizando y facilitando el acceso a la cultura, me permitió acceder a esa maravillosa pieza musical y empaparme de esas referencias a Giorgio Moroder o Donna Summer. Sublime.

3.- I Get Around - Dragonette

Si hiciera un listado de los discos pop más infravalorados de la década de los 00's, "Galore" de Dragonette estaría en los primeros puestos, canciones como "Take It Like a Man", "True Believer" y hasta el bonus track "Marvellous" ya los habrían querido para si artistas de la talla de Gwen Stefani o Britney Spears.

Pero, ¿cómo este pueblerino daría con una joya pop oculta de una banda canadiense random?, bien, no sé si es un caso de efecto mandela, pero estoy seguro de que los primeros segundos de uno de los singles, "I Get Around" fue utilizado por un pobre becario de Televisa para el soundtrack en una de las secciones del infame programa que tenía Facundo por las noches en el canal 5, más allá del cuestionable contenido, los sintetizadores de nuevo hicieron mella en mi y fue un comentario en Youtube el que me dio luz sobre la identidad de la canción.

Me gustaría tener una explicación profunda y conmovedora sobre como esta canción aportó a mi mariconez, pero no todo tiene que ser así, abracemos la casualidad y el desenfado, así como yo lo hice con esos sintetizadores que me animaron a dar mis primeros shows de lipsync en la intimidad de mi recámara.

4.- Hola - Miranda!

Gracias a mis juzgadores de la infancia tuve una relación complicada con el grupo Miranda!, en esa ocasión fue mi abuelo: "es música para jotos" dijo en pleno auge de la icónica "Don", y el impacto de la "j word" en aquel entonces fue tan fuerte que dejé en el olvido la copia de "Sin Restricciones" que me habían comprado en el tianguis, pero de aquella amarga experiencia ocurrió una de las anécdotas que más atesoro de mi infancia, mi abuela con mucho tacto se acercó y me dijo:

"No importa si son jotos o no, lo importante es que son buenos músicos y que a ti te gusten".

Era la primera vez en mi vida que alguien de mi círculo cercano abstraía a la persona de su orientación, y le daba valor por lo que era y no por lo que le gustaba.

Algún tiempo después de ese evento, la telenovela argentina, "Lalola" estaba siendo todo un fenómeno durante su transmisión en México, al menos para mi. La trama consistía en un hombre que por algún evento mágico-astronómico se convertía en mujer y terminaba enamorada de otro hombre, es decir, hay todo un trasfondo sobre la identidad de género y la orientación sexual, un hito para un programa latinoamericano de 2008.

El tema principal de esa serie nos lo regalaba Miranda!, una síntesis de lo que es hacer un buen tema pop, esa vez la disfruté sin complejos ni culpas. Grandma seal of approval.

5.- Born This Way - Lady Gaga

La era "Born This Way" aún con sus polémicas y desiciones cuestionables, fue una de las más significativas para los fans de una Gaga, que para aquel entonces ya se había ganado su lugar como nueva mesías del pop gracias a su estética y sonido. "Telephone", "Bad Romance" o "Paparazzi" no son poca cosa, pero fue esta etapa la que consolidaría a su público y dejaría -aún más- explicitas sus intenciones y visión artística, y política.

Podría escribir tesis enteras sobre el impacto que tuvo este himno respecto de la visibilidad y el debate público que generó nada más el puente de la canción, así como cantarla y defenderla en eventos como los Grammy Awards o el Super Bowl:

No matter gay, straight, or bi', lesbian, transgender life I'm on the right track, baby, I was born to survive

Puedo concluir diciendo que si las demás canciones del top me acompañaron durante el descubrimiento de mi orientación, "Born This Way" fue la culminación, aceptación y seguridad de quién era. Nos dió esperanza y valor.

New OC named Krait. He is a male, named after a type of sea snake called a Sea Krait. Despite his past, he has a very kind personality and is curious towards other dragons.

Kraits Story:

When Krait was still a young dragonet, barely old enough to remember, his parents took him out for a flight. During this flight they ran into a Skywing patrol and were forced to fight. Kraits mother pointed him towards the shoreline and told him to run as fast as he could without stopping. Somehow, Krait managed to to make it to the shoreline where he waited for his parents to return, unknowing that they were being hauled to the Sky Kingdom arena where they would later perish.

After laying on the beach all night, the next day an old war beaten Mudwing found Krait shivering in the rain. Despite the fact that Mudwings and Seawings were currently enemies, the old Mudwing did not consider himself a member of the tribe anymore and had abandoned the war after the loss of his unit. He decided to take Krait in and ended up raising him. 

For years this Mudwing would teach Krait how to hunt, fly, fight, and of course hide. They lived out of a cave near the beach where Krait learned to swim and navigate ocean currents. The old Mudwing kept Krait hidden until the war had ended and Krait decided to leave, and see the world not through horrible war stories but, through his own eyes.
