Hello! May I ask what's your favorite and least favorite character from various fanganronpas (like drrb, drdt, dra, sdra2)?

I got this ask in a serious bout of depression and was going to answer when I felt better, but that never happened so I’m just gonna do it now.

Also was gonna give a bit more explanation on my choices, but I’m so tired, so I’m gonna keep it brief.

DRRB

Favorite- Aruma: I feel like this is a given for me. What can I say, I’m a 12 y/o who likes sex jokes. I also feel like the Ch3 voices script, even if it was unreleased, did a lot to humanize her character and give her motivations beyond terminal horniness. For as atypical as her relationship to Kazuomi was (all things considered) you can tell she really cared about him and about others as well, and a lot of her harshness seemed to stem from a place of genuinely wanting to see people work on themselves and improve in some aspect.

Least favorite- Cant say: I don’t really hate any of the characters. I was always kinda “eh” on Misuzu (blame the motherlessness) and I initially found Kasumi irritating and Mikoto kinda dickish, but now, I can’t say I really dislike any of them

DRDT

Favorite- Teruko: Probably not all that surprising. She is, without question, my favorite fangan protagonist, but what really sold me on her was how she just doesn’t give a fuck that this is a Danganronpa story. Not in-text, but with DR, you have your protagonist typically representing a “good” side of a binary (hope vs despair, truth vs lie) but not only is the good vs bad binary challenged (”it is an equal failing to trust everybody and to trust no one at all”) but she choses the less sympathetic side (”so I’ll never trust anyone again”). That’s very interesting to me.

Least favorite- Arturo: Yes I ship him with Veronika, who I love, but he doesn’t offer much in terms of being likeable. Granted, the man is strong in his convictions, but he hasn’t really shown much outside of that, and while I don’t hate him, I haven’t met anyone who actually liked him beyond liking his appearance, funny enough.

Never got around to checking out DRA, so I’m skipping.

SDRA2 

Favorite- Kanade: You were probably expecting me to say Mikado, and so was I, but I think I like Kanade more and here’s my explanation. She has a lot of the things I loved about Mikado, like reveling in villainy, and a lot of things I disliked about him, like inconsistent writing, but she edges him out in two categories: one, I’ve simply had better experiences with Kanade fans. They’re p chill. Two, I stopped being interested in SDRA2 after the 3rd chapter, case in point.

Least favorite- Yuri: I’m not even gonna say anything. I don’t like him. I don’t like his fans. I don’t want his fans to get on my ass. That’s all.

DanganRebirth Voices chapter 2 killer prediction

Okay guys. I think I’ve figured out who the killer is.

(MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW)

A lot of this is based on guesses from what we’ve seen so far, but when I was writing up my post for who I think the main suspects are, everything kinda clicked into place.

Because I think the culprit is Akira.

Let me explain. I’m going to be using Chapter 2 Daily Life Part 3 a lot for this, so go watch that if you want any of this to make sense. First of all, he was the last person we saw using the wheelbarrow. We’ve already figured out that Narumi was moved to the ice rink using the wheelbarrow, and since Akira was the last one using the wheelbarrow, it would make sense that he would’ve gone to get it. Second - and this is my main reason for this - he was the last person we saw Kego with alive. Remember that scene in Daily Life 3 where Kego was arguing with Mitsunari, and then Akira went into the garden with Kego following after? Yeah, we were focusing too much on the possibility of the conflict with Mitsunari making him a suspect than the fact that Akira was alone in the garden with Kego. It’s never actually been confirmed that Kego was killed during the feast. So, who’s to say that Akira didn’t kill him then? I mean, Akira was the only one we actually saw leaving the garden. “But wait, why would he have killed Kego in the first place?” Well, Mikoto said that Kego had access to the sedatives as the chemistry room was right next to the garden, right? Maybe he hid them somewhere in the garden, and that was the real reason why he was so reluctant to letting Akira and Mitsunari in. So I think Akira found the sedatives, figured out what was going on and killed him, and set up everything else while everyone was asleep. “But didn’t you say in that other post that Akira wouldn’t have known that Narumi was Kego’s target?” I did. But then I remembered: “WAIT A SECOND. The targets are listed on the students’ E-Handbooks, so maybe he checked to see who his target was so he knew who to frame!” So that’s how he knew to frame Narumi and set everything up as we know in the trial: When everyone else was asleep from the drug, he took Narumi to the ice rink (while getting the blood packs and shovel on the way) and unlocked the door with her fingerprint and E-Handbook. (we know that Kego couldn’t do it, but Akira could have done it.) Then he made a hole in the ice using the shovel to put Kego’s body in, but ran into a problem: Narumi had bloated up due to her food thing, and he couldn’t use her to get back in. So he had to improvise; and found out about the passage between the garden and ice rink. He dumped the blood from the blood packs onto Narumi, put on the scuba gear and transferred Kego to the ice rink using the passage. Then he quickly headed back to the dining room, and pretended to wake up with the others.

I mean, it makes a lot of sense. To me, at least. He’s a male, so he would be able to get into the garden, he was the last person we saw with the wheelbarrow, and he went alone with Kego to the garden during the Daily Life.

“But wait, what about that thing you said about Aruma being on the cover art?” Yeah, I thought about that too. That’s why I initially thought she’d be important to the case, but then I realised something. Who was Akira’s target again? OH YEAH. IT WAS ARUMA. So if Akira is the killer, then Aruma being on the cover art could have just been a massive clue hiding in plain sight.

...But that’s just my theory. Seriously, if any of what I just said is actually true, then I’ll probably die. XD Feel free to reblog/visit my inbox with your ideas!

since i’m a part of the not liking the revealed plot of rebirth voices (no disrespect goes to the team, by the way! i just think they could’ve had a better story line and stuff), i decided to take my own turn on the story and rewrite it!

002 your favorite drrb ship

Dunno what my favorite ship for this one is atm if I'm being honest, but I'm gonna go with Itsumori for the reason that it's easy

When I started shipping them: Honestly pretty recently. Kind of around the time I started losing interest in seiyumu (which is it's own thing) so probably starting around last year.

My thoughts: I kinda always thought that Ayumu seemed like a sad puppy next to Mikoto, but over time that went from being a bad thing to a good thing in my mind. Dunno. Something about stoic characters having a soft spot is really endearing and Ayumu is a pretty damn good soft spot to have, especially considering it's her job to protect him.

What makes me happy about them: I think it's really cute to imagine her being a little tsundere around him.

What makes me sad about them: Y'know, it woulda been nice if Ayumu could have had a potential love interest that didn't die on him. Just a thought.

...oh who am I kidding, I love it when love interests die

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Not specifically applicable to this ship (gotta love small fandoms) but as a general rule of thumb, it annoys me when people make stoic characters lovey-dovey. Even the most straight-up cold-hearted bastards can be soft and tender, but it's usually not in their nature to be doting on people no matter how much they love them. Anyways, point is I could sooner see Mikoto pulling her teeth out with pliers than using pet names.

Things I look for in fanfic: Honestly, dunno how to answer this one. I don't really read a lot of fanfiction for the sole sake of ships unless I'm straight-up desperate for content.

My wishlist: No idea what this means.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Ayumu, I think most people who know me already know my answer, and as for Mikoto, hot take, but I'd say Aruma. Honestly, I feel like Mikoto could have the type of stern energy that could overpower her, so it could be an interesting dynamic to explore.

My happily ever after for them: I think I've pretty much already implied that I kinda like axing off love interests, but a confession before Mikoto's death in ch 5 (of voices at least) would be pretty darn heartwrenching. I mean, it already worked for me before in V3 so... yeah.
