There's also a Hasbro Titan Heroes Series toy for Wanda and Strange where the box art says: "With the help of the Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange must fight to protect reality from a sinister magical villain." Maybe the leaks are 100% true and all the promotion is just a huge misdirect, but I'm just not convinced. (I'll eat my words when the next trailer comes out of course.)

I saw that... and I'm still not sure. On the one hand, if they wanted it to be a surprise, but still wanted to advertise Wanda was in it, that's how you'd do it. Not saying what she's there for screams "villain".

On the other hand, according to the leaks Wanda turns really fast, basically as soon as she's introduced. Why the secrecy for something that happens so quickly; something that's the entirety of the main plot? In all the other MCU villain twists, the twist doesn't happen until the end of the second act, so it makes sense to preserve the surprise. Why bother here?

But so much about the leaks line up with what we're seeing, if Wanda isn't the villain, what is she doing exactly? Because she's not present in any of the scenes that the leaks mention that are now confirmed real--so, what, the have everything she's not in right, and specifically the stuff she is in wrong... but in a way that still makes the stuff that's real line up? That's hard for me to believe.

It's just wild to me that they have Wanda hunt down a child, murder multiple people, and destroy an entire reality, just to get to her kids back and out of danger when she was willing to essentially let them die to save just 3000 people. And then the twins we get back aren't even going to be hers, they're going to be twins of a different Wanda and hate and fear our Wanda.

Darkhold corruption or no... what was the point of WandaVision, thematically? What was the point of that story for Wanda's character? And all this after it's been raining buckets of accolades on WandaVision for its thoughtfulness of theme and character.

Well, I guess I'll look forward to the million and one "I can't believe they Daenerys'd Wanda after patting themselves on the back about not Daenerysing Wanda" YouTube essays and twitter threads.

my thoughts on doctor strange multiverse of madness

i honestly believe that the visuals and raimi's direction was the highlight of this movie. i loved the horror elements but it obviously wasn't enough to classify it as a horror film.

the plot is fine, i guess. strange is a passive protagonist and despite the film posing some interesting questions towards him, he doesn't actually develop as a character which is especially problematic when the movie is named after him.

the visual effects were mostly good but there were a couple times when it was jarringly bad

what. the. absolute. fuck. did they do to the members of the illuminati! i don't know much about reed richards but i do know that he's supposed to be an extremely smart character and tactician and NOT SUPPOSED TO REVEAL BLACK BOLTS SECRET POWER RIGHT IN FRONT AN ALL POWERFUL WITCH

charles repeating his iconic line from days of future past to stephen... really doesn't make sense and now it cheapens the original scene!

regular mordo should've been included in this film because his inclusion would've better threaded together the first DS film to this film but no we got his multiverse version being friendly and that plot thread from DS 2016 is still left dangling

the music battle scene between regular stephen and supreme strange was lame af

charlize theron already looks great as clea and stephen already looks whipped af when she opened a portal to the dark dimension

this film definitely deserved to be longer and for the plot to be been rewritten in a way that at least has stephen develop as a character

There has been recent photos examined from the DSITMOM trailer and I’ve had many thoughts on what could possibly be. After examining my own knowledge, I know that comics-wise, Stephen basically gets Sorcerer Supreme after TAO dies.

By going with this logic, it should be somewhat the same for the MCU movie considering a lot of MCU content is based off comics.

However, since Wong is (*slight spoiler*?) supreme, does that mean he has to die in order for Stephen to become Supreme?

Is death the only way someone can become supreme? Or are there multiple ways?

Last question is, since photos were released of Wong being tied up with some sort of red magic (people assume it’s wanda’s), do you think it’s possible Wong will die in DSITMOM?

Well, first, it's a bit controversial how the Sorcerer Supreme is chosen in comics. It has been established since 1989 that there is a contest, and Stephen has been elected ever since (as seen in Triumph and Torment), although he was called Sorcerer Supreme before. For me, T&T works like a timeless story, which means it could take place in the past, like a flashback. Is there a correct answer concerning when Stephen becomes the Sorcerer Supreme? Not really, but he did have to go through a test by the Vishanti in order to be chosen, the mantle was not passed down by the Ancient One (although he did gifted Stephen with the Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamotto, signature artifacts wielded by the Sorcerer Supreme).

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment (1989).

That said, no, the former Sorcerer Supreme doesn't need to die in order to pass down the mantle. Stephen did it once to Jericho when he found himself unworthy, and no contest was made. It was Agamotto's decision. Stephen visited some sorcerers (Wiccan, for instance) to see if the All-Seeing Eye would react. It only did when the New Avengers found Jericho in New Orleans.

Lastly, Loki faked a contest through an illusion in order to deceive Stephen and steal the mantle. So technically, this follows the T&T canon.

So in short, no, no one has to die haha.

Now, about the MCU... If the leaks I read are real... MCU!Wong will be fine. My only hint is... we're dealing with the multiverse, right? So expect many, many, many variants.

I don't know how the MCU operates when it comes to the mantle of SS but I do hope death isn't a requirement as well. I too love Wong and I'd hate to see him die like that :(

God, after the absolute shitshow that was the Loki show I’m worried for our boys :( Mordo especially. The main writer for Loki wrote for DSitMoM, so what if he hates Mordo and doesn’t get him and just writes some nonsensical bullshit about Mordo being an irredeemable villain or something?? He clearly didn't get Loki. I swear that if DSitMoM fucks up our boys, I’m out. I’m tired of the MCU’s casual racism and queerbaiting.

I finally caught up with Loki. And it was pretty intense for me. My biggest fear is Mordo being wasted 😭 If they’re gonna make him nothing more than a joke, or a punching bag, or a one and done villain, then I would just rather he not be in the movie at all. At least then he’d be spared from the poor treatment 😞

I’ll always be forever curious about where Scott Derrickson wanted to take the sequel. He always spoke so highly of Chiwetel and it makes me wonder if that admiration leaked into Mordo’s character too. It makes me so nervous Nonny. I’m still hoping they do him justice. And if they don’t….. 😭 I’ll probably throw a fit, cry, then accept it, all the while pouring more energy into whatever headcanon I make up to cope.

I still really enjoy the MCU immensely. Are there failings and short comings? Oh yeah. Lots. But there’s also a lot of gems there too. I’m still gonna hope Nonny. Cause I’m always gonna be a hopeful fool.

This may be a dumb question, but who is Lore and why do you hope the woman in the Scarlet Witch suit is her?

Lore is an Evil Wanda whose motivations and lore (teehee) are more or less in line with all the heinous deeds some increasingly reliable leaks have consigned to the main MCU Wanda. I would prefer that Evil Wanda Variant be the one that's massacring everything, attempting to kidnap children, snapping Charles Xavier's neck n such, because I would prefer that Main Wanda doesn't get character assassinated for the 3rd time. It would also be kinda weird when WandaVision ended on that whole note of her trying to understand her powers more so that she can do better instead of causing misery & destruction, but that's just me I guess!!
