"[Charlie] seemed incredibly experienced. He's really, really talented and just has a lovely quality. He's very tender, and present and open and just great fun as an actor. And he's just so charming and such a decent guy. He's a very good kisser." - Claire Danes
Resisting the urge to write a Thomas Barrow x Duke of Crowborough fanfic set after the events of the second movie... because am I the only one who does not want Thomas with Guy Dexter and away from Downton? I won't be happy until Philip apologizes, confesses his undying love for Thomas, and the two of them live happily ever after. I say "resisting" because I have too much on my plate as it is!!!
An important poll number two. Read the answers before answering. Some of the answers can coexist but choose the one that feels the most true to you, and elaborate if possible.
My brain has been tossing around ideas for a couple of days. Of course, it has also been rolling around earworms for a couple of days and I can't write and listen to music with lyrics, so I've not gotten anywhere with it. (The earworms are, as you might have guessed, winning)
So just for giggles, I thought I might get a feel for how people would react if any of the things my brain is tossing about actually happen. The poll will, of course, not affect whether it happens or not. My brain will write or it won't and no one gets to tell it what to do on that point, including me. But for posterity - or SCIENCE - or whatever motivates you most - tell me:
I haven’t watched downton abbey in ages but I’ve recently been thinking about how in the very first episode we see Thomas barrow being in love and having his heart broken… like we don’t ever see him in a relationship after this in the series but the Duke of crow borough was his boyfriend! They wrote letters, lots of letters(!), to each other! And then he can’t grieve that loss and he doesn’t get anything close to that again until the films
Thinking about Philip living in sunny California in 1929 because Mummy has the estate in hand. Walking past his American wife reading the society pages, then doing a double take. "Is that... Is that Thomas??? My handsome footman of yore???? Standing next to a movie star???????"
