Just finished another aquascaping project- an actual Nature Aquarium: a diverging path in a forest.

So there are a few reasons why I generally don't do this kind of aquascaping, the main one being my aquariums are animal enclosures, not dioramas.

Bare bones hardscaping.

Laid the path down. The path splits because I originally planned for it to be viewable from both the front and side.

I just fed him. He's being dramatic. This isn't even going to be his tank.

Planted, filled, hardware set.

I hate this part. The only thing worse than gluing a shit-ton of moss onto driftwood is tying it on to individual branches by hand.

Driftwood, placed! Almost there! I added floaters and let the tank cycle for a couple weeks, then ran into something unexpected.

A combination of the driftwood tannins and a bacterial bloom from the Bio-Stratum turned the scape into a cloudy blackwater tank. I unintentionally made a goth aquarium.

It'll resolve itself eventually, but in the meantime, it's very suitable for the main resident: my dumbo betta Lavender.

Day #7: Purple 🧜🏻‍♀️💜

Like last year, I used the Betta species (specifically speaking, the Rare Magenta Purple Dumbo Betta Fish...what a long name) due to the reduced number of purple fish species. I could have chosen others, but I couldn't find one that completely fit Yukari.

Unlike my Mermay Avanna and Luka, I made Yukari as a sort of marine Sorceress (a good one!).

First pic is Jazz Hands when I got him 4 months ago. Pulled him out from a small 0, something gallon cube-tank in a pet shop and placed him in a 14 gallon all for him. Second pic is him today after he got his dinner. I feel there was a little bit of a glow up. ....I also feel I should clean the glasses more often, coz they are awful looking.

You know what else SUCKS and im rly gonna be on the brink of tears over, is racecar won't stop chewing his own tail!!!!!!!!!!! It looks SO bad today!! Idk why he's doing this!!!!! He is a healthy fish in a healthy environment w lots of plants and toys and hides!!!! He's bitten like half of his tail off. I'm so upset I just saw now that I finished cleaning up the catfish CORPSE on the other side of the tank. Why is he doing this!!!! He is a happy healthy boy!!! I'm worried he's gonna get himself SICK!!!!!
