Accessories: A teal headband with purple feathers, mud splotches on her body, bleeding scratch wounds, stitches and scars all over her body, a half-stitched wound on the left side of her head, a tooth protruding from the right side of her upper jaw, long black fingerless gloves, orangish-gold bracelets and bandages on her legs

Bio: She is a ferocious, wild and hyper scavenger who loves hunting animals of any size, mud wrestling and playing games. Her dumb death is that she got scratched and mauled by a wild tiger when she threw her spear at the tiger's rear causing the tiger to get mad at her but she luckily survived the attack. She also has lacerations on her legs underneath her bandages. She also has stitches, scars and scratch wounds all over her body, her wounds are also bleeding as well as mud splotches on her body. She also wears long fingerless gloves and orangish-gold bracelets. She was found in the jungle by her BFF Cilantro and she also currently resides in Dumbville but she has struggles to get along with modern civilization.

Pick, Pack, Sell! - Mascot Design

This is the brand mascot I designed, called Bulbhead. This shows the journey from the first design of the mascot to the final versions created on Illustrator.

I wanted to create something warm and inviting, inspired by so many classic brand mascots that we all know and love. The design is very minimalistic and cartoony, which I think works well with my brand aesthetic.

One feature I'm particularly proud of is the hairstyle I was able to give the character using the wire in the lightbulb. I was originally going to have the character in a simple waving pose; however, I had the idea for him to strike a eureka pose, with the logo featured in a way that seems like the speech bubble is coming from his mouth.

For the moving poster, I used two variations of the design: one where he is striking a pose with his bulb illuminated, mouth open, and one with the bulb switched off, arms by his side, mouth closed. The idea behind this was for the character to become illuminated once the logo pops up on screen.

I wanted to create consistency throughout each element of my brand, which is why I featured Bulbhead on my packaging, poster, and moving poster.

The illustration style was heavily influenced by the work of designer and animator Julian Frost, specifically the characters he created for a PSA about train safety titled "Dumb Ways to Die."

The cute, colourful characters are brilliantly juxtaposed with the violent deaths that they ncounter. This, c combined with an incredibly catchy song, made the advertisement go viral soon after its release in 2012.

The end of the video details dumb ways to die relevant to train safety; it geniusly emphasises their pure idiocy and avoidability by comparing them to the many other ridiculous deaths shown beforehand.

The video points to the fact that the dangers of trains are often underestimated and unrespected.

I believe this unique and creative approach will address such a serious topic and spread safety awareness to a wide demographic, particularly younger viewers who may have been previously unaware of or uneducated about the dangers of trains.
