Buddy buddy su how’s it going??
Taangy question for ya… How does Toph tell Aang she’s pregnant?
Hope your day is great!
Ope. It’s been probably years since you asked this stitch, but here goes nothing. *snuggles into couch to get back into my chaotic Taang universe feels*
First, in my universe, I’m making it so that when someone’s pregnant, they become a super bender (if the kid is going to bend the same element as the mother) and their bending is damped/weakened if the kid is going to be a different bender than them. If they’re a non-bender then it’s just a normal pregnancy (maybe this whole pregnancy thing will be a separate post). This is also in no way accurate to anything, I’m just making things up as I go along lol.
Since it's been a long time since I've thought about my dunebabies ideas, I'm just going to start with Gyatso.
Ok, so I like to believe that since he’s an airbender, Toph becomes kind of clumsy and bumps into things because her seismic sense is a bit distorted from the pregnancy. She obviously feels the heartbeat too. Aang notices her clumsiness but doesn’t mention anything about it until Toph brings it up.
Aang of course doesn't know about these symptoms because they're pretty young when having him. So, they are sparing one day, and he beats her. He's shocked but proud of himself because, let's be honest, he rarely beats Toph at sparing. So naturally, he teases her relentlessly. Toph can only handle the teasing for a few short minutes and yells back in annoyance that the only reason why he beat her is because she's off balance due to being pregnant.
Aang immediately is excited by her outburst and attempts to touch his hand to her abdomen. Toph swats his hand away and flicks his head yelling, "I'm not an animal in a petting zoo!" Her exasperated expression softens and she murmurs, "You can sense the baby with earthbending."
He closes his eyes and focuses on Toph's form and senses her and a faint extra heart beat.

Hey Stitch! If Aang and Kanto were both competing for Toph's affection who do you think she'd choose?
Hi Ronin! Thanks for the ask! :D
And oof hitting me with the tough questions—
I think it's a surprise to no one that my attention for Toph ships has turned to Kantoph only at this point LOL. And while I'd pick Kanto for selfish reasons, I do think there are reasons why Toph would pick Kanto (the Kanto with the characterization that Twinkles and I have developed over the years) over Aang.
In the event that Kanto and Aang show their affections for Toph at the same time, I think Toph would choose Kanto because:
Partly, I'd say it's because there's not this childhood familiarity between them. Aang and Toph have known each other for years, and I think Taang is compelling both from a friendship or a relationship standpoint. Aang was Toph's first real friend, and she values her friendship with him immensely. If Aang began to pursue Toph romantically, I think there's a possibility that she would decline because she doesn't want to ruin their friendship, she is concerned about changing their status quo within the friend group, and/or because she doesn't feel the same way. They've been friends for 10+ years, and she doesn't see him (ha) in that way. With Kanto, there's more to discover, more to learn about him. He's a little more mysterious to Toph, and I think that would excite her a little bit.
Aang's responsibilities would keep him constantly traveling. Toph loves adventure, but I think at a certain point in her life, she'd crave stability and a place she goes home to everyday. She knows that Aang is a free spirit and loves to go with the flow, and I think Toph would eventually dislike that.
Also, I think if Toph was building the Republic City Police Department, she would probably want to stay in the city to see it through. She wants to completely build it from the ground up, and she wouldn't want to split her time between being on the road with Aang and her personal project/career aspirations.
I think Kanto would notice the distress this choice is putting Toph under. He'd realize that she needs time to decide, and he'd give her that space after telling her his feelings. Aang doesn't push her, but I feel like he wouldn't necessarily give her the space to think and choose.
Okay! I think those are like... the main reasons why Toph would pick Kanto. She would probably be mad at both of them for a bit for doing that to her though LOL.
Of course, I still have my Taang AU and they have their lil dunebabies and whatnot, but I think now I just always make AUs with Kantoph since it's my new preference :)
Thanks for the ask, Ronin! Would love to hear your thoughts if you agree or disagree. No wrong answers when it comes to AUs haha!
Hope you have a great day!
......

That post about the incoming dunebaby making Toph's brain fuzzy has me thinking a rare Taang thought: What if she forgot something important like a birthday or anniversary? Would she get mad at herself?
Ohhhh man. She forgets Aang’s birthday and he is REALLY bummed because all day long he waited and just thought she was gonna surprise him with something but when they finally head to bed he’s just kinda hesitantly like... hey uh... do you know what day it is...
And Toph is like ??? It’s Tuesday and I don’t care it’s time to sleep. And he is silent for a second all “oh okay” but Toph is like spit it out Twinkletoes. And when he admits she forgot his birthday she is APPALLED.
Aang being his understanding self is like no it’s fine the best gift is being with you or some mushy shit but Toph gets out of the bed because even if it’s almost midnight she’s gonna go find a custard pie dammit.

I just think it would be a very entertaining juxtaposition to see TOPH giving KATARA pregnancy and parenting tips
YESSS!!! I think so too!!
I just imagine Katara very hesitantly visiting Toph when she finds out she pregnant and asking for advice.
Toddler Gyatso would of course be clinging to Toph as she spewed out her wisdom. She'd hand him over after she demonstrates how to properly hold him, swaddle him, etc.
Toph would definitely mess with Katara by weaving some random not so true advice into her real advice just to mess with her.
I also see Toph throwing Gyatso in the air to freak Katara out only to watch him glide back into his Amma's arms. By this time, Aang and Toph have already learned that Gyatso is an airbender, but Katara doesn't know that and sends Toph a disapproving look.
In the end, Katara has to admit she learned a lot from Toph and believes Toph is a great mother. She takes back a lot of her advice back to Zuko.
Now, Aang giving Zuko and Sokka parenting advice would be a sight to see too. While I think we all believe he would be a great dad, no one expected him to have kids first either. I think Toph and Aang have a very lax, but loving parenting style that the rest of the Gaang both admire and despise (because the dunebabies destroy every place they go, but are ultimately good kids).

Hi Su! I have a question....
What were Toph and Aang's reactions to all their pregnancies/incoming dunebabies?
Oh boy! This is something I have strangely haven't thought too hard on, but here goes something:
So I HC them popping out babies from a young age, earlier than the rest of the Gaang, which is a shock to everyone. Gyatso is the oldest of all the next gen babies except Azula's daughter, who is three years older than him.
Gyatso: I think Gyatso is born when Toph and Aang are around 18 or 19, and is definitely a surprise. They had been dancing around admitting their feelings for each other until they were 16 and now 2-3 years later, they've got a bun in the oven. They both intended to be life partners, but Toph hadn't considered being a mother, yet. Both were nervous about being parents because Toph didn't have a great time growing up with hers and Aang grew up in a community. But with a lot of help and bothering from Katara, the pregnancy goes well and the Gaang eases their nerves of becoming parents.
T&A = 19
Three years later
Lin and Tenzin: Gyatso begged Nana and Amma for a little brother or sister since he could talk. Toph had always intended to have multiple children once they had Gyatso since she hated being an only child, so now was a perfect time to have a kid. Of course they were shocked when she heard two heartbeats instead of one, and that got them nervous for a new reason. They'd be outnumbered lol. Even as wombmates (lol) Tenzin and Lin fought with each other, making for a rough pregnancy.
T&A = 22, G = 3
Six years later
Suyin: Su was another surprise baby. After the roughhousing that the twins did in Toph's womb, she was good with three kids, but fate had another idea when Su was conceived. Now, in their late-twenties and with the rest of the Gaang popping kids out left and right, they didn't have to worry about Su being younger than the rest of her siblings.
T&A = 28, G = 9, L&T = 6
Five years later
Songa, Kera, and Choekyi: Yet another surprise with becoming pregnant. An even bigger surprise when they realized they had one-upped themselves by having triplets. Aang and Toph had tried having another kid a couple years after Su was born, but never succeeded and gave up. With Gyatso, Lin, and Tenzin now being adolescents, and there being triplets on the way, Nana and Amma roped the three of them into contributing to taking care of the rapidly growing family.
Toph was done with giving birth after Choekyi came out and threatened Aang not to get her pregnant again.
T&A = 33, G = 14, L&T = 11, S = 5
But alas, another three years later Gyun came around.
Gyun: Toph was not happy finding out she was pregnant again. Weren't seven kids enough? apparently not. Even the rest of the Gaang had stopped having kids at this point, but Toph and Aang were making an army of dunebabies - unintentionally of course. Aang was thrilled to be having another kid because their family was starting to become like his childhood, a community as a family, but everyone had the same parents!
T&A = 36, G = 17, L&T = 14, S = 8, SK&C = 3
One year later
MeiLin: They actually conceived MeiLin quickly and was trying for her, wanting Gyun to have someone around his age to play with. By this time, Toph being pregnant was a family affair and everyone took part in raising the family. MeiLin and Gyun are known as Irish twins because they were born within a year of each other.
T&A = 37, G = 18, L&T = 15, S = 9, SK&C = 4, G = <1
Three years later
Tiao Wu: The last surprise, and a difficult pregnancy. Toph destroyed the fighting ground she was practicing on when she felt the heartbeat of Tiao Wu in frustration. Katara had told her that she couldn't get pregnant anymore just a few months ago, but lo and behold, another baby. Aang nervously laughed more scared at what Toph was going to do than worrying about a 10th child. Let's just say that Katara got an angry welcome the next time she and the family visited.
T&A = 40, G = 21, L&T = 18, S = 12, SK&C = 7, G = 4, M = 3-4
LMAO Ok stitch! Here are the reactions of all the children that Aang and Toph have. I think... more than half of them were happy surprises? That's 21 years between the oldest and youngest of the dunebabies

Hi Su! Question for ya...
Who do your dunebabies go to for questions or help, Toph or Aang?
Thanks or the ask Stitch!
I guess it depends on what they need help with. In general, if they want to stay peaceful, they'd go to Aang (Nana). But if they were looking for help and being sneaky, it would most likely be Toph (Amma).
Gyatso: Gyatso and Aang are super close. Gyatso is the first airbender to be born in over one-hundred years, so they have an unbreakable bond and he goes to Nana for advice and help on most things. But when he has kids, specifically an earthbender, he goes to Amma for help on how to deal with someone so head on and stubborn.
Lin: Lin is also closer to Nana because he taught her the earthbending basics when Amma was too tough for her. For an earthbender, she has a very airbender outlook on life and tries not to crush things if she doesn't have to. For most things, she also goes to Nana, but if she has something in the police business on what should be done on the down low, she always goes to Amma and they take down the bad guys the Toph way, which isn't always kosher.
Tenzin: Tenzin tends to ask Amma for help because he's embarrassed to ask Nana for help. He doesn't like that he had a lot more issues mastering airbending than his siblings, so always ask's Amma for advice, even though she'll usually send him over to Nana to answer his bending questions. Toph is always saying that she doesn't know anything about twinkly airbending (even though she does know enough to help him) so he can bond with Nana.
Suyin: Su doesn't really go to her parents all that often for help. She's a free spirit and likes figuring things out on her own. She also hates going to them since she's always in trouble as a kid and Lin usually snitches on her anyway. If she had to go to someone she'd probably go to Amma if she was in trouble, since they are very similar (a little too similar for Toph's liking sometimes). I also see Toph helping Su create Zaofu.
Songa: Songa goes to her parents equally. She is a very balanced person in general and can see things from both sides. If she has a question or needs advice she'll go to Amma and Nana when their together get both opinions before making her own.
Kera: As Kera spends most of her time in the Fire Nation, she actually asks Ty Lee advice the most. After Ty Lee, she goes to Mai, but doesn't get the most enthusiastic response for her. Occasionally, she'll ask Auntie Azula, but her responses are a bit extreme 😂but if she needs help she usually turns to her Nana for help, as his philosophies are usually closer to Ty Lee's.
Choekyi: Choekyi definitely goes to his Amma for questions and help. He has a very earthbender mentality for an airbender and he is a reckless human like Toph is/was. He will ask Toph on how the best way to do random things would be and Toph will usually come and help him with whatever reckless thing he wants to create.
Gyun: Gyun looks to his Nana as for help, since like Aang, he's a lover not a fighter. When Aang isn't available, Gyun turns to Uncle Iroh fro advice. The only time he turns to his Amma for advice is on his acting rehearsals. Even thought her sight, she's the best at understanding how the body works and emotes different things. They will spend hours on his acting if he asks.
MeiLin: Like Kera, MeiLin doesn't spend as much time with her parents as she wants to master all fighting styles, so she usually asks Auntie Suki for help. She also enjoys Mai's advice since she's much more low-key (and realistic) than Ty Lee. If she's with her parents though, she definitely goes to her Amma first.
Tiao Wu: Tiao Wu is a mama's boy so he goes to Amma for all things! He especially asks for help on his new dance routines and how he should use his earthbending to enhance his skills. lmao the only time he'll ask Nana about anything is if there's something happening in the spirit world, but Aang usually hears it from Tiao Wu (since Tiao Wu is very spiritual) first and checks on it before reporting back.
Note: Nana and Amma mean father and mother in Tibetan. Air nomads are based partially off of Tibetan monks, so I wanted to incorporate that in a bit.

What are the names of your dunebabies' bison? Can you tell us about their experiences of getting them, naming them, etc? Did any of the other non-airbending children want to have a pet bison too?
omigosh!!! This is such a good question!! And one that I have very little information written about yet. I'll give you some tid-bits of my thoughts now, and when I have more world building done, I'll write a few chapters about it.
So, to start off with your last question (because I think that's really important to answer before diving into the names and backstories of them getting them), yes! Some of the non-airbending kids do get a pet bison, but not all of them. As we know, the bison chooses their companion, so I think Toph and Aang bring all of their kids to visit the sky bison around the age of 6 to see if first, any bison take an interest in them, or not. Some of the dunebabies aren't fans of sky bison, so they don't get them while others really connect with them. at around age 8, Aang will bring them there again and the bison will choose their companion.
Toph isn't a huge fan of bison, so after the first few kiddos get their bison, Aang takes them alone.
Now, onto all the dunebabies and their opinions, names, and experiences connecting with their sky bison! Gonna put a cut here since it'll be a long post.
Gyatso: Gyatso actually found his companion when he was 6, the first time he visited the Bison with his parents. Gyatso immediately jumped out of Amma's arms and jumped into the pile of baby bison playing. They quickly accepted him as one of their own and what was meant to be a quick trip, turned into a full-day adventure of Aang and Gyatso frolicking around with the bison while Toph sat in the shade with Lin and Tenzin. Aang gave Gyatso an apple, like his namesake gave Aang when he got Appa, and held it out to three of the baby bison who followed him around most of the day. The one in the middle came forward and ate his apple before nuzzling into the kid.
Aang told Gyatso that he had to think of a name by the time they got home so he could learn his name and be trained. As they landed, Gyatso decided to call his bison Baram (wind in Korean).
Lin: Like her mother, did not enjoy being around the bison. When she first went at 3 when Gyatso first got Baram, she cried until she, Toph, and Tenzin moved far enough away from them. Sky bison seem to like Lin, but she doesn't like them. This is noted when all of her siblings' bison is home for a family get-together, the bison all lick Lin and sometimes follow her around. In short, Lin does not get a sky bison, but she does have a saber-tooth moose lion that she names Ji.
Tenzin: Unlike his twin, Tenzin was interested in the sky bison at age three, but he was too young to play with them, so had to still with Amma and Lin for the day. When he turned 6, she met a few of the bison, took a liking to the young airbender, but none choose to be his companion yet. When he came back when he turned 8, the new crop of baby bison took a big interest in him. One immediately found kin in him and decided to be his companion. He of course named her Oogi after Shushu Sokka said it so often about his parents and other Shushu's and Ayi's.
Suyin: Suyin, has the opposite problem as Lin; she loves sky bison, but they aren't really fond of her for some reason. When Aang takes her to meet sky bison, none of them approach her, which is upsetting. Luckily, Amma had a surprise for her, suspecting that something like this would happen. When Su got home, a baby badgermole was waiting for her to care for. She named him Ping, and he traveled the world with her.
Songa: Similar to Gyatso, Songa was one with the bison and enjoyed playing with them for the day and got her animal companion when she was six. She named him Mochi, after her favorite dessert from the Fire Nation.
Kera: The bison liked Kera, almost as much as her airbending siblings, but with her staying in the Fire Nation so much, she didn't want a bison to take up so much space. Those who detested the Avatar would also try to capture bison, so she ultimately decided to not have one, even though a few wanted to be her companion. While she studied with Mai and Ty Lee, the two gifted her an Eel Hound named Bongcha.
Choekyi: Choekyi was not as mature as his siblings were at his age and had a bit too much energy, even for sky bison. He had to wait until he was 10 until he was calm enough for a bison to want to be his companion. He named his bison Bumi, after the Earth King who is as wild as Choekyi is.
Gyun: Both Gyun and the sky bison are indifferent towards each other. They neither like nor dislike the other. None of them really wants to be his companion, but they sniff him a lot because they interest him. In the end, Gyun chooses to not get a bison. He's gifted a songbird though, which he names Xue for its snowy white feathers. He likes to sing his melodies to the bird and have then sung back. He also acquires a flying lemur that he calls Katsu.
MeiLin: She and the sky bison's want for traveling the world made a great match. The bison sensed her untethered heart and jumped to be with her. The bison could feel her want for exploring and that was attractive to them. Both she and Tiao Wu were popular among the baby bison, but the one who ultimately chose her had a feisty spirit like hers and claimed MeiLin as their companion as soon as her hand opened. MeiLin affectionately named her bison Penipu (Peni for short).
Tiao Wu: While Tiao Wu was an earthbender, his strong spiritual ties made it easy for him to connect with the sky bison. He and MeiLin ended up getting their bison together, even though they are three years apart. The bison loved him and flocked toward when he came over. Being five when his bison picked him as their companion, she was named Lychee after his favorite snack. Lychee was also the fruit he offered to the bison when it came time for the choosing to begin.
Ok, so long post for ya, but I hope that answered all the questions you asked! They are really good ones! I think they all have animal companions, but not all of them would be bison.

Can you describe what they, your dunebabies, look like?
Ohh Good Questions Anon! I'm currently drawing them all out. I only have the triplets, so I'll post that one. But let me pull out my descriptions for you.
Gyatso: Pretty much looks like Aang, but a bit shorter. Bald, but has black hair when he doesn’t shave. No facial hair. Has classic Air Nation grey eyes.
Lin: Like the character in LOK, though as a teenager, I may change Lin’s hairstyle to a braid or something. She gets the scars on her face in a different way than in LOK, though. (while Lin and Suyin clash, Su isn't the reason why she got her scars. Lin is going to be muscular, tough, and tall. Her eyes are mostly green, but become hazel on the outside.
Tenzin: Similar to LOK, though I want him to have green eyes like Lin does. They think he and Lin are going to be earthbenders, but he turns out to be an airbender, much to Aang’s joy. Tenzin is about the same height as Aang.
Suyin: Similar to the show, though she isn't as tan bc she's a taang kid lol. She's short about 5'5, but is taller than Toph (everyone is taller than Toph though. She also has piercing grey eyes.
Songa and Kera are identical twins, so they look exactly the same. Only Toph and their triplet Choekyi can tell them apart until Songa earns her tattoos and when Kera comes back from the Fire Nation with a new hairstyle. Both are short, but not as short as Toph, have longer faces, and jade green eyes. Songa leaves her hair long with a braid that wraps around her head. Kera usually wears her hair in a high ponytail lightens her tips to represent her time in the Fire Nation.
Choekyi is tall! Like really tall. He’s even taller than Aang by the time he is 15. He has a long face like his sisters and but has the classic grey airbender eyes instead of the jade green eyes Songa and Kera have. He’s not particularly muscular, more a lanky guy, but he’s stronger than he looks. Choekyi is the tallest in his family.
Tumblr media
From left to right: Songa, Choekyi, and Kera. Songa and Kera don't look short, but their hair makes them look teller (and Aang has them standing on a lifted slab of rock 😂)
Gyun’s eyes are ember to brownish color like traditional firebenders and sticks out in family photos. His siblings joke that Zuko is actually his dad, not Aang. Aang then goes into a deep very detailed account of the potential nights that he and Toph conceived Gyun and the siblings get grossed out and leave the topic alone. Gyun is an elegant looking man, though how could he not be as an actor and musician. He wears his hair in a topknot like Lao, but has long hair when it’s down. He has an oval face that’s perfect for stage makeup and is decently built and around 5’11.
MeiLin has a round face and plump lips. Her eyes are a rare purple color. No one has ever seen that eye color before, ever, and that’s part of the draw of her beauty. Though they can be seen as a dark blue in some light. She has long lush hair, like Toph, and usually wears in it a large bun, like her mom, or in two tighter buns. She’s small in stature but is surprisingly strong thanks to her training with Mai, Ty Lee, and Suki.
Tiao Wu is the shortest male among the dunbabies, but is taller than all the girls except Lin. He doesn’t mind being short though. It keeps him closer to the earth and allows him to have really good balance for his acrobatics and dancing. He’s also bulky, like The Boulder, which makes him seem intimidating, but he’s actually a sweetheart. His eyes are dark green with flecks of gold.
Idk, that's how I kind of envision them. Is that what you imagined them looking like?
If you wanna read other posts here
When I have all dunebabies drawn, I will make a separate post on all of them and link here.

ATLA Next Gen Chaotic Universe
This is more for myself to use because I’m putting a good amount of content about my Dunebabies Madness on this blog. I’m having trouble finding each piece, so this will just be pinned and added to as I continue to grow my complicated world.
This universe of mine will dive into Taang, Zutara, Sukka, and Mai Lee ships and them as parents.
For anyone following along please send me asks about my universe. It helps me develop characters and the world better. Eventually I’ll make some kind of multi-chapter fic on it and drawings of all my OCs and the OG characters as adult, but for now, I’m just vibing with the joys and pains of world building.

Stitch my luv. Give me the cheesiest, fluffiest taang headcanons you can think of off the top of your head.
Hi Joy! Oof, cheese and fluff? Let's see...
I think the cheesiest one I ever came up with was when Toph is pregnant, Aang wants to do this one thing with the baby everyday until baby Beifong arrives. With lots of complaining and sighs, Toph agrees, and Aang decides on drawing a heart on her stomach, kissing it, and then saying something sweet to the baby. He does this everyday without fail, and then when they have future dunebabies, Lin and dunebabies to follow do the same to Toph's stomach, multiple times a day now... And well, Toph can't tell her kids to stop being sweet, but it's just tons of cheese and fluff when baby Lin kisses Mama's belly to say hi to the baby. Nearly wrote a one shot about this, but I think it's a little too cheesy, even for me.
Baby Su was a fussy baby for a long time, and the only way she could sleep for periods of time was on either Toph or Aang's chest, Aang mainly. He's the baby Su whisperer.
I still think the badgermole kisses would be cute for Taang and the dunebabies lol.*sniff sniff kiss*
When Toph is alone with the babies, she does a silly dance with them and tries to make them laugh. I feel like it would be really important for her to hear their first laugh since she can't see their first smiles. She's pretty adamant about being around for their first laugh if she has any say in the matter.
I can see Toph getting mad or angry about something and she goes off to vent to Aang, and after a while, he'll just kiss her forehead and gently pull her into a hug until the angry Toph gremlin calms down. He knows she's all better when she wraps her arms around his waist.
When Aang is upset, he just whines and complains into Toph's shoulder. He leans down a lot and Toph lets him vent and she'll pat the back of his head and goes "there there." lol
They're big on cuddling, especially with the kiddos.
Toph loves giving raspberries on the the dunebabies' bellies. Sometimes the kids laugh until they cry (then Aang is left to wipe away the tears LOL).
And... that's all I have for now! :D

No one asked for dunebaby (or dustdevils? Either way lol) headcanons, but I’m sad bc my team lost in March Madness bball already and Taang makes me feel happy lol.
Oh, and these might help understand some of my stories in the future. Most of these are inspired by other HCs I’ve seen, and I wanted to incorporate them into my Taang world as well.
4 kiddos (Lin, Gyatso, Suyin, Kenji), all basically a surprise, especially the last two rascals.
Girls are earthbenders, boys are airbenders
They all call Toph Mama and Mama only.
But they call Aang Baba, Dad, Daddio, Pops, You name it. Typically Dad and Baba tho.
Lin and Gyatso are like carbon copies of Toph and Aang respectively, but Su and Kenji are a bit of a mix. Su is an earthbender with airbender tendencies and moves. And Kenji is the opposite.
Su is a Daddy’s girl and Kenji is a Mama’s boy.
Kenji has a stuffed badgermole that he takes with him everywhere, big comfort item lol. Lao and Poppy bought out an entire shipment of the stuffed animal, so everyone (Zutara, Sukka, and Taang) have backups in case he destroys the one he has or forgets it when they travel.
Gyatso LOVES meeting new people, and basically makes friends with everyone
He’s also the big mediator between his siblings, especially for Lin and Su (they butt heads a lot).
Lin likes to read to Toph after she saw Zuko read/teach her fancy words at the fire nation.
Since Gyatso’s name has a lot of syllables, his main nicknames include G, Jr. (as in Twinkletoes Jr), and Geo, but only Toph really calls him Geo (rock reference. Get it?).
The whole family is pretty rowdy and they argue often, but they’re very close and get over arguments (relatively) quickly and will FIGHT anyone that bothers their fam.
That’s all for now, I’ll get off my soapbox and your feed lol. Have a nice weekend!

Any cute steambaby headcanons?
Ooooh You know what? I never really took the time to flesh out the steambabies. But I’LL DO IT TODAY lmao. These might change later, but time will tell lol.
Three steambabies: Kya (113 AG), Izumi (115 AG), and Iroh (122 AG). As you can see, I’m SUPER creative with names lol. And originally I had Izumi as the oldest, but Katara in my head would most def name her first daughter Kya. So I'm switching it lol.
Kya looks like Zuko, Izumi looks like both Katara and Zuko, and Iroh looks like Katara.
Their personalities are kind of telling based on their birth order.
Kya is like a second mother to her siblings and just loves taking care of them and helping them. She’ll put their needs before hers sometimes.
Izumi is a spitfire, sassing and messing with her younger brother all the time because she can, but is super close with both of them.
Iroh def has those baby vibes of the family, but is super chill and just kind of takes all the crazy things that come with having two older sisters.
Kya is a firebender, Izumi is a waterbender, and Iroh is a nonbender.
All three are skilled hand-to-hand and/or weapon fighters as well; whether or not they received training from Zuko or other honorary aunts and uncles depended on what they wanted to learn.
Their father has a Capital S for ‘Sucker’ on his forehead, so whenever the kids want something, he basically gets it for them.
Katara can be a pushover, especially when the kids are behaving, but she’s a bit better at laying down the law. Zuko can do it in a pinch, but it sometimes doesn’t work because he can never stay mad at them for too long.
All three love their honorary (and real) aunts and uncles, but they do have their preferences. Kya likes spending time with Suki, Izumi adores Aang, and Iroh clings to Azula.
They also like their cousins, but typically do more things with Sokka and Suki’s children, mostly because they are closer in age with them. The dunebabies are basically all younger than the steambabies.
Anything else you wanna know? Feel free to ask!

Sentence Prompts: #56 Taang/Dunebabies!
Ooooh this was a good one G lol. I just had this like, really fluffy idea and idk if I did it justice but this is what I have. I hope you enjoy, and thank you so much for the ask! Love a good Taang and Dunebaby request haha. ......
Taang & Dunebabies - #56 - “How did you talk me into this?”
“Remind me again. How did you talk me into this??” Toph grumbled. “Oh, don’t be so dramatic, Toph!” Aang exclaimed. “Su asked us to make sure that the kids would participate, okay? And everyone has to dance, so we’re not alone.” Toph blew her bangs out of her face as she sat with her arms crossed on the bed. “Yeah, but we’re the adults! We shouldn’t have to do what Su asks—” “—Not even for her birthday?” he asked, smirking. The earthbender opened her mouth to retort the reason, then shut it. “This is stupid,” she grumbled. “C’mon, it’ll be fun!” he grabbed her reluctant hands and playfully danced in his spot. “This will be just like the time we danced in the cave!” “Except a bunch of little kids—” “—Just our kids and two others—” “—are gonna be watching the almighty Avatar and badass Chief twinkle their toes.” “But,” he added, “It’ll be worth it to watch Su’s little heart go crazy, no?” Toph said nothing, but Aang saw the smallest hint of a smile on her face, and he knew he won her over. Again. She let out an exasperated, yet loving sigh, “You’re the worst, you know that?” “Oh, you’re just pretending to be mad,” he teased, pulling her toward the party. “You love it when we dance!” “Yeah,” she muttered, “Because it usually means were about to—” “—Look who I found, kiddos!” Aang interrupted. “She was hiding.” The children cheered in anticipation for the dance party and swarmed their parents. Toph playfully groaned and yelled, “All right, all right! That’s enough from you troublemakers. Now where’s Su?” Suyin raised her hand up and exclaimed, “Mama!” And when Toph crouched down to her level, Suyin began again, “Mama, you have to dance.” Toph smirked and raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I have to?” “Yes, because Sammie and Hanni must dance with us. Sammie says he can’t dance and we all know that’s a lie so we all have to dance with him before my other friends come.”
“You have other friends coming?” she teased. Suyin sighed, “Yes, Mama. I’m very popular.” Toph let out a snort. But after, she gave a tiny sigh, and traced Suyin’s cheeks and little nose. She asked, “Is this really what you want for your birthday?” The eight-year-old nodded eagerly. They never got to see Mama dance, so this was a very special occasion. (Obviously. It was Suyin’s birthday!) “Well,” Toph started, “guess I can’t say no to the birthday girl, can I?” Suyin cheered and Toph laughed again. “But none of that camelephant strut crap!” she barked. “Grab your partners, folks,” Aang yelled, grabbing Toph’s hand to pull her up and to the center of the makeshift dance floor. “And put your hands together for the Flamey-Os!” All the kids cheered again; they beckoned Sammie and Hanni over from their rock castle, and partnered up for the first dance. And once the Flamey-Os began their set, the Beifongs danced to the rhythm of the beat (or their own beat, in Gyatso’s case… he had two left feet and not a rhythmic bone in his body). And while Toph and Aang lost themselves in the music, they couldn’t help but notice the elated reactions of their children every now and again. Toph’s smile grew wider when she felt Suyin’s heart elevate when she spun Sammie around, even more so when she heard everyone laughing and giggling around her. Dancing around her kids wasn’t so bad, she supposed.
......
Send me a prompt and a ship to write about! (For ATLA).
Or just send me asks lol.

Hey Stitch! Hope you’re doing well buddy :) Recently you got an ask on whether the Dunebabies ever called their parents different names and that got me thinking. What do the kiddos think about the best nickname Toph ever came up with, Twinkletoes! Do they ever hear the backstory? Do any of them ever use it on Aang, or is it only Toph’s special word? Do you think any of the kids/grandkids could ever get the honor of being dubbed ‘Twinkletoes II’?! The thought of Toph meeting Aang for the first time ever and within an hour or so giving him his greatest nickname that sticks all throughout the show and beyond is really living in my head rent free right now. (not to steal your catchphrase or anything! lol)
Hey Thea! This was a very fun weekend, so I'm very good, but also sad that the weekend is over LOL. Hope all is well with you! And great question, G. What do my precious dunebabies think of the nickname Twinkletoes?
I bet the kids forget that their dad's name is actually Aang because Toph basically only calls him Twinkletoes! lol. I'm sure they ask all the time what the story is behind the name. Aang has given their full love story as a response (and it's a very long tale), while Toph just says, "He cheated in an earthbending match, he's got light feet, they're twinkly-toed steps." Or something super simple like that haha! For both responses, the kids roll their eyes because neither story really helps them figure out the nickname origin story. The kids ended up going to their aunts and uncles to get the full picture.
I would say that every so often, the kids will call their Baba Twinkletoes, but he's never mad about it and usually responds quickly. It's not often, though, but it's one of those "Oh we hear it all the time and we needed to get Baba's attention real quick and Twinkletoes was the first word that came to mind." Just don't ever call Mama Twinkletoes on accident... she'll have a mini fit (mostly kidding, but the kids never hear the end of it).
For the kids, the ones that come closest to earning the title would be Gyatso or Suyin, mainly Gyatso. Sometimes Toph will call him Jr. for Twinkletoes Jr., but not as often as she calls him G or Geo. It would usually come out if Gyatso is especially being an airhead or does something that is exactly what Aang would do and she's like "Oh my word you're your father's clone." I'd venture to guess one of the airbender grand kids would be in the running for Twinkletoes Jr., the third, etc. but I have no idea which ones haha! If I keep Opal as a grand dunebaby, it would be cute if she was a Twinkletoes!
You're right, though. She literally came up with the best nickname after knowing him for less than 15 minutes and that's just... amazing. And please do steal my catchphrase! Lol I feel very special that you think of it as my phrase. Stitch is moving up in the Tumblr world lmao! But yes, like you, there are many a things that live in my mind rent free, the main one being Taang.
Thanks for sending in a question! Always nice to see an ask from you, hope you have a fantastic day! :)

Another headcanon! So, Zutara end up having 2 girls and 1 boy: Izumi (waterbender), Kya (nonbender) and then Akiho (firebender). Taang also have 2 boys and 1 girl: Tenzin (airbender), Pran (airbender) and then Bumi (earthbender). I like to think that whenever taang and their dundbabies come to visit the Fire Nation, Kya is horrified because she's the only nonbender in her family and a WHOLE family of benders is her worst nightmare. (she gets that attitude from her uncle sokka lol)
Hey Anon! Thanks for the HC!
Ooooh love me a good steambaby/dunebaby mix, too. They'd probably be chaotic 'cousins' and the potential for a mad palace is endless!
And this would be such an interesting take/dynamic on their relationship. Kya being the odd-kid-out could do one of two things: make her super insecure that she's not like the rest of her cousins, or she just thinks that all her siblings and cousins have heads filled with their respective elements which makes them dumber (I like the second version haha).
Kya is probably sharp like her Uncle Sokka and can handle her confidence level around friends and family that can bend an element. But sometimes, she just wishes they would use their heads for two seconds instead of thinking that flying or throwing rocks will solve all the problems.
She also inherited her uncle's tendency to slap her forehead at their shenanigans lmao.
I bet she still has fun with them, though! She appreciates a good flying session with Tenzin, and Bumi can make some good castles when he's older.
But man, when Auntie Toph calls her kids airheads or a rockhead or whatever, she isn't kidding around.
What a fun HC, Anon! Tons of fic opportunities with that one, and a lot of misadventures with next gen. Thanks for sending in another! Keep 'em coming if you want :)
Send me questions, asks, or HC's about Taang, Zutara, or Sukka!

here’s a dunebaby question, which one is your favorite! Or if you just can’t chose cause they’re all so lovable what’s your favorite thing about each one?
OOO great question! This is hard because the dunebabies are like my children lmao. I don’t wanna play favorites! I think secretly it’s Kenji because I have a lot more story ideas with him, but I do my very best to space out the stories and even out the spotlight lol. BUT I will give some of my favorite things about them because I'm in the mood to chat (ramble) about everything related to Taang lol.
My favorite thing about Lin is that she is a Beifong through and through, but not quite. She has these quieter tendencies that don’t necessarily scream a characteristic of Toph or Aang. She’s also a BIG grudge holder. And while Toph can be stubborn, she never struck me as someone that held grudges; she was rather forgiving if people were sincere. And Aang is really big on forgiveness; I don’t recall him ever holding a super longstanding grudge. But Lin will. She’ll be wronged by some cashier when she was ten, return to the store years later and remember the cashier that messed with her. And she’ll give them attitude just like Mama taught her. I think out of all the Beifong's, she seems like this odd sheep that has a very different personality from the rest of her family, but not really. It’s just more muted and reserved.
Gyatso is this super lovable kid that just wants to make friends with everyone, and I think that’s really sweet. He cares a ton about how other people feel and thinks that if everyone talked it out, everyone would be happy. He is a Beifong though, and the only people that have ever really ruffled his feathers are his siblings (and they’re allowed to). So sometimes (often) he’ll fight with them. Gyatso is super clumsy too, literally trips over his own feet everywhere he goes. He tries to be more careful as he gets older, especially when he’s around his mother. But, what many don’t know is that if Toph is the only one to help with one of Gyatso’s injuries, she’s is the calmest, gentlest, and most patient person in the world. Secretly, he loves it when she has to take care of him because she’s super sweet about it (not that Aang isn't, but it’s a side of his mother that no one else really gets to see).
Suyin is just a firecracker, just like Toph and sometimes it drives Toph crazy how similar they can be, but then there are times where she is just like Aang, so they don’t really know who she resembles the most personality wise. It’s like her personality shifts with the seasons... She’s the second youngest child in all of the Gaang and is SPOILED because of it. Very persuasive too. We probably won’t see this side of Suyin too much in my stories, but she is very outspoken about things she believes are wrong in society. Her best friend is a blind earthbender too (an OC of mine) and even though everyone has tons of respect for her mother, sometimes people treat her friend differently because he’s blind and she yells and complains that it’s the stupidest thing in the world that people would do that. She’s pretty good about putting people in their place when they say dumb things, and her friend is grateful for it, but he is also a super mellow kid and is like “Su it’s fine, nbd” and she’s like “NOPE.”
Kenji is the perfect mix of sweet and adorable and chaotic. He is easily persuaded by his siblings to wreak havoc, and as a young child doesn’t think twice about it. He was also obsessed with playing with his aunts. Growing up, he got a lot of attention from the adults and because of that, often went to them for play time instead of “cousins” because his aunts and his Mama were cool and tough and the best playmates (Katara and Suki often missed play time with their own kids at this point, so whenever they had the opportunity, they jumped on it). He’s also just super sweet! If he asks his mother to play with him and she says in 20 minutes, he’ll wait. Or if she says not today, he’ll be mad, but okay. Mama said no. Same with his dad, he’s pretty good about listening to them the first time around (surprisingly). He’s also like this picture perfect toddler that has the most adorable and squishable face and it makes it hard for people to say no to him. Another interesting thing is that he’s very good with his other senses. He had his mother teach him how to see with them at a very young age, and because of that is really good about knowing his surroundings and not solely relying on his eyes to see. And while he’s an Airbender, he instinctively knows if Su is standing behind him or if Lin’s at the door or if Gyatso is upset without looking at them. It makes Toph and Aang wonder if some seismic traits were inherited or just learned, because like, it’s only with his siblings that he knows where they are (if they’re close proximity). Kenji just chalks it up to sibling telepathy.
Okay, there. Some of my favorite things. I totally rambled, but it’s after work hours and I like talking about everything and nothing, but especially about Taang lol. Thanks for the ask, and if anyone wants to know more, feel free to ask me questions!
