If using toys, keep in mind that toy material can be affected by the kind of lube you use. If this is a concern, I recommend using a dental dam, or if that is not available then you can cut the tip off a condom and then cut it lengthwise to make one fast. Both condoms and dental dams come in flavored options, but with all contraceptives, lubes, and barriers you should check that glycerin is not a high ingredient, because that can throw off PH balance in a vagina.

If you experience any itching, burning, or discomfort when using lube, it is likely you have a sensitivity to the lube you use. Durex I know is especially popular for that. I recommend Water Slide or Fuck Water.

And on the topic of water-based lubes, you can add spit or water to rehydrate if it starts to dry out during, so don't worry about dropping a little cash for the good stuff.

And for fingering a partner, go with what's comfortable, but your hand won't cramp up as fast if you use ring finger-middle finger instead of middle-index.

Lastly, you can buy topical stimulants for clitoral or nipple stimulation- I happen to have a tingling peach flavour nipple balm that I use as a chapstick. you are supposed to use (gentle) soap on the vulva (the outside!). there are a lot of folds and crevices that collect discharge that can and will turn into smegma if soap is not applied! water is not enough!! sometimes, you need to retract your clitoral hood and wash in there, too.

if you have sensitive skin or you suspect your bacterial vaginosis comes from hygiene products, consider the following before ditching soap:

• change from generic soap to one used for babies.

• your preferred brand of pads/tampons may be the culprit. especially, tampons with applicators and pads with colourful swirls/fragrance infused pads! also, make sure you wash and sterilise your reusable period products after each cycle.

• your partner is using lotion to wank frequently. ask them to ditch the lotion and buy actual lube!

• your (uncut) partner does not use soap on his penis, particularly behind the foreskin. uncut penises collect bacteria quickly. overall, if your partner has a penis, they need to be uptop with their junk too.

• the brand of condoms you use - some condoms come pre-lubed with lubricant that contains a lot of glycerin, which is metabolised as sugar and may upset your natural PH balance.¹

• your blood sugar levels are elevated. while generally that leads to frequent yeast infections, sometimes your body might do a fucky and give you BV instead.

• your laundry detergent may be the culprit - especially if you use powdered product and wash on a low temperature (<40°C) + low spin (<800/m).

Two ideas that are more fully fleshed out. I think currently I am going to go with this more hidden message style idea so I have made some better-realised drawings based on the past thumbnails. I think these are pretty good at showing unexpected communication but I will definitely be asking for feedback on these from the class when I can to see if they are successful.

I think the tag line for this works well with the conversation idea. Overall I think this idea is witty enough to work with the brand but subtle enough to work in public settings.

One thing I need to work on is making sure the durex logo stands out well and has enough space around it to work out. In the brand book there were a lot of rules on having it be visible and with enough breathing room to be properly legible.

The next step I think is to do some mock-ups digitally before proper production and to storyboard some ideas on how to make them move in a dynamic way.

PD A Tight Spot Props: Condom Boxes

The star of A Tight Spot was, of course, the condoms. Kyle and Luca went back and forth on what to call the condoms and eventually settled on 'Gribbon'.

This is where our incredible Art team came in. Cara, just like the jolly bars did an incredible job coming up with a design for the Gribbons.

We made 4 different designs: King Size, Fruity, Close Fit and Ribbed.

Originally we were only going to make one design which was King Size. The Script has Imogen says "We only have King Sized. Is that alright?". But as we brained stormed, we thought it would be funny to make several different kinds that were obvious to the camera, but Imogen lies to Donny telling him there's only King Size to embarrass or tease him a bit.

The goal was to make them discreet but obvious to what they actually were. We modeled them after Durex along with all of the fine print.

Took inspiration from the design but changed the thinness meter to a strength size. We strayed away from putting people on the cover like a lot of condom brand and I think what Cara came up with was near perfect.

We did have some minor set backs with the size they were printed in.

When Cara made the prototype, one of the immediate concerns was that the box was rather small but said it contained 12 condoms. We just didn't feel like that was very believable. Luckily Cara was able to go back and edit it to 6 which was more believable.

We had a meeting to cut them all out and then Cara assembled them. Much like the Jolly Bar she coated them in a plastic film to give them a shiny glow and make them look more authentic.

To conserve resources and save some money, she only constructed the King size with a thick card stock to give the box some weight. The rest of them were constructed from paper and their bottoms were hollow as the thin paper wouldn't let them stand on their own due to the unevenness that came with the plastic casing.

Cara made two of every type for safety and continuity and overall I was really pleased with the final product!

inspiration:

I was searching for something to inspire my ideas for the Durex campaign, i didn't know what to begin with or what my work would look like. I had thoughts of designing a product but I figured that that doesn't necessarily make sense with what is asked in the brief - choosing a sexual freedom barrier and focusing on how Durex can help close that gap.

I went to the D&AD archives on their website for some solid examples and inspiration - I was really pleased when I had something to go off, even though all of the examples were really well produced and polished - they all had a similar kind of vibe.

These are all really nicely put-together campaigns and promotional material. i like the variety of ideas here too, i could make a promotional book with art inside that refelcts what i am trying to convey, i could create website design sheets, or just use photography and editing to showcase my work.

I do like the idea of using photography and maybe some compositing. i will be putting some sketches together to draft out some ideas i have already, but i will have to do some more research on what makes a good campaign design spread etc.
