Jikook Week 19 Complete ✔️(16/04 - 23/04/2024)

Their nineteenth week in the military is now complete and I have to say I'm missing them something chronic. Maybe celebrating this milestone with a look back at this week in 2021 will help.

BTS's performance of Dynamite for the 63rd Grammys on the 14 March 2021 was released on Bangtan TV on 21 April 2021.

Also this week, images from the MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E CONCEPT BOOK were released. These are some of the most delicious promo photos ever taken of jikook. Stunning stuff.

Run BTS Episode 138 came out on 22 April 2021. Olympic gold medalist, Ryu Seung Min came to help the members improve their table tennis skills. The day stretched over two episodes 138 and 139 both of which are included here.

There were two teams the Kims against the 3Js.

There was a short training period where we were gifted this hilarious jikook moment. Jimin baby, we saw what your did there!

Jikook were also caught in the background a few times just having fun in their own world.

Then it was on to the tournament. In the first round, Taehyung beat Jungkook, Jimin beat Namjoon and J-Hope won against Jin.

In the 2nd round Taehyung faced off against Jimin and J-Hope played against Namjoon (who was the winner of the runner up playoff). Tae and J-Hope both won and went onto the final. Watch it if you want to know who won.

Coldplay in scarves and woolly mittens. The Libertines as Dickensian street urchins, and REM's Michael Stipe as um, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. The NME Christmas cover has an illustrious tradition of rock stars arsing around in their best dressing up clobber for a day Some need gentle coaxing, some need a raft of costume. based ideas sent over by our art team before theyll commit. Others, like this year's Christmas cover stars Arctic Monkeys, have planned the concept and hired the outfits even before our tentative email request has had time to settle in their manager's inbox. "We want to be evil elves," came the return message moments later. "Not naughty elves, not mischievous elves. EVIL ELVES.” Which is why, one Wednesday afternoon in late November, we find ourselves at a north London photo studio strapping dynamite sticks to reindeers, impaling others with giant shards of metal, hiding a bomb in a snowman's hat and handing Arctic Monkeys bassist Nick O'Malley a mallet and then standing back as he sends carefully wrapped gifts shattering across the room. Of course, there were the annual set of complications in trying to co-ordinate a photoshoot of this magnitude: Alex Turner requesting the ‘smacked-up elf’ look from the make up artist, but looking more like a cherubic waif with every ring of dark eyeshadow applied, Nick shunning the hired-in pixie boots in favour of his own toe-curling pointers ("from Prada, thank you very much") and a minor tussle over which band member was going to get their ears stuck on first. That and the endless flutes of champagne threatening to sabotage the interview scheduled for straight after the shoot (“I feel very light headed and unsteady on my feet, NME," says Alex, wobbling).

Eventually we manage to steer them to a corner of the room where a Dictaphone awaits. By this time Nick, Matt Helders and Jamie Cook's costumes are on coat hangers and they're back in civvies. Only Alex has opted to stay as an elf, at least as long as the interview lasts. It's a heated hour that will see them debate the big topics of the year, consider their own personal highlights (Nick. "Glastonbury. NME: And your defining Glasto 2007 moment? Nick "Er, headlining the fucker") and lowlights (Mike Reid RIP). Before all that though, there's the small matter of destroying Christmas 2007 for everyone. Your favourite worst nightmare before the festive season is about to be unleashed.

NME: Hello, Nice costumes.

Alex Turner: "Thanks. You might say we dress up too much, But really, what is too much? It's good to escape your own face for an hour.

Matt Helders: "It's easier to hide behind a costume, isn't it? I felt in good spirits up there though - I’m not sure I was really feeling evil enough.

So what's Arctic Monkeys squad of evil elves manifesto for ruining Christmas?

Jamie Cook: "Go out on Christmas Eve.

Alex: "I heard a terrible story about a friend who went out on Christmas Eve once. This lad got hammered and, you know when you're hungover and, like, your thoughts and your mouth aren't connected properly? Well, he was eating his Christmas dinner and his nan were wittering on as your nan does, and he thought to himself. Oh, shut up Nan, you cunt. Then he looked up and everyone was looking at him and his dad went. I think you'd better just take your dinner upstairs and eat in your bedroom. He’d said it out loud (The table collapses in laughter).

Matt: "His nan was a cunt, though."

Alex: "So there's a way to wreck Christmas - call your nan a cunt. Actually. you should leave that out cos my nan buys NME more than my mum. My nan files her NMEs!

Matt: "So our real answer would be... I dunno, burn everyone's house down.

Alex: "Or, you know those Santa’s that come on a truck to estates and all the kids come to see them? Maybe you could hijack one of them as another Santa then rip your beard off

Matt: "....and punch the kids. Or the dad. There's nothing worse than beating kids dads up in front of the kids!"

Alex: "(Nodding) Nothing worse.

Moving on. What does a traditional Christmas entail round at Alex Turner, the only child's, house?

Alex: "Quality Street. That's the only tradition around mine. Other than that, just looking at the phone thinking. Can I ring them (points at other Monkeys) on Christmas Day or is that out of order?'

Matt: "Yeah. it is. (Holding hands up to each ear to mimick a two-way phone conversation between Alex and himself 'Do you wanna come round?' 'Al, it's Christmas Day. My nan's here.' 'Yeah. but I'm just sat here at home...' "

Alex: "We've been discussing how there's nothing to do on Christmas Day and maybe having some kind of party this year. Fancy dress, obviously. We were talking about having some sort of Ultimate Warrior party."

Matt: "Wrestlers weren't it?"

Alex: "Ah yes, wrestlers."

What are you doing for New Year's Eve?

Matt: "Last year was crap. I DJed in Sheffield at midnight. The first song everyone in that room heard going into 2007 was 'Boom! Shake The Room, which was a good feeling"

Alex: "That's something to be proud of. This year we've got nothing planned. We all go out together though; we were at that club."

Matt: "It rarely works, New Year's Eve. It's always such a fucking build-up."

Alex: Everyone's like, '(Whining voice) What are we doing now?' And then it fucking snows, doesn't it?"

Um, not where I'm from...

Alex: "It always snows round where we are"

Jamie: "It's not snow, it's sleet."

Alex: "I remember walking home last year in it and no taxis stopping for us."

Jamie: "Yeah, 'Im not taking you to High Green, mate."

Nick O'Malley: "I booked a hotel last year in Sheffield city centre and just stayed there."

Alex: 'Maybe well stay in this year. See Jools' Hootenanny and that."

What New Year's resolutions are you going to make?

Alex: "I want to learn how to cook food. I want to do a good curry."

Nick: "I want to get to a level of fitness synonymous with that of a boxer - just so I don't get out of breath walking up the stairs"

Jamie: "I want to grow a beard. I’m not shaving after today."

Alex: "Otherwise I'm allowed to punch him in the nose."

Matt: "I want to learn to do a back somersault and a front somersault."

Jamie: "Oh, and be able to dive into shallow water from a height and not hurt yourself."

Alex: "Yeah, flips, juggling. unicycling. I think were all always looking for improvement in our overall balance."

The coming year dealt with, it's time to turn the clock back and get Arctic Monkeys' take on the headlines that shook 2007. For this, Alex takes a more noticeably back-seat role in the conversation especially when the spectre of political allegiance rears its head and he actually goes completely mute. According to his press officer afterwards, having seen Arctic Monkeys branded Gordon Brown's favourite new band before he became Prime Minister, Alex is reluctant to say anything that any of the political parties could use to their advantage. From here on in then, Nick'n'Matt take over from Aln'Matt as the comedy double act. Meanwhile, Jamie will reserve his sole contribution to the conversation for an animated outburst about social networking sites in the workplace.

This Christmas marks the one-year anniversary of James Brown's death. Did he mean much to Arctic Monkeys?

Nick: "Yeah, we were big fans of James Brown."

Alex: "The first ever gig we did, we walked onstage to 'The Payback. And at college I had a pair of jeans I'd written on in red marker ‘I've got soul and I'm super bad!

Jamie: "He did as well."

Nick: "It was one of those things when you heard, you didn't want to believe it. A bit like Steve Irwin."

Alex: "Or Mike Reid. (Genuinely moved) Mike Reid, that really hit me that."

Nick: 'I don't think there was a big enough fuss about that as there should have been."

Matt: "I tell you when Ill be dead upset- and I don't really want to say it cos he's not dead yet, but I might as well get it all out -and that's when Bruce Forsyth dies."

Alex: "(Gravely) Ah, Forsyth."

Matt: "Cos I know I'm going to see it.. all being well my end."

Nick: "Touch wood."

Alex: "Cover the holes!"

Nick: "(To NME] Do you know where that expression comes from?"

Alex: "Apparently there's these little people who live in the wood. Like these little fairies that bring things that you say to life. So you cover the holes so they can't get out... Yeah, Mike Reid. I remember reading about that in the airport.

Then there was the Celebrity Big Brother race row early in the year. Did you watch any of it?

Nick: "We made a point of watching that. We wanted to watch where what's-her-name got kicked out. That said it all, and they didn't have any crowd there"

Alex: "Oh, Jade."

Jamie: "I thought Jade Goody and the one that was getting abused by her.

Matt: "Shilpa Shetty."

Jamie: "That's right. I thought they both played it bad."

Alex: "Jo from S Club 7 can fuck off I’d send her to jail Why? I just don’t like her; I think she came across horrible."

Nick: (Changing tact) “I texted one of those numbers to find out about touch wood (Reaches for beeping phone and starts reading) Touch wood is said to come from a mid-18th century story in which children being chased who touched wood were said, to be immune from being caught"

Matt: "I don't believe that. This has been wrong once before and thats when texted, to ask who's headlining Glastonbury and it said Eric Clapton. (Pumping chest out defiantly) It weren't - it were us!"

Of course the biggest music story of the first half of the year was Keith Richard revealing he'd snorted his father…

Jamie: "(Laughing) His ashes weren’t it?

Yep. What's the weirdest thing you've ever snorted?

Matt: "An eraser. That's not true actually I've witnessed it but never done it I wish I had. I didn't live enough at school”

What did you think of Keith's revelations?

Matt: "I think it was shortly after he said we were shit. He said something like the ["Load of cunts. load of cunts. Posers, rubbish was how Keef actually described the Monkeys, alongside Bloc Party and The Libertines in the same NME interview.

Keith said he didn't like The Libertines who reformed for one night only in April, with Carl Barât joining Pete Doherty onstage at London's Hackney Empire. Did you care?

Alex: "Yeah, I was interested in that. It was a 'should've been there moment, I imagine.”

Matt: "I’d have liked to have seen that.”

Nick: "They're one of the bands that a very young us were really into."

Would you like them to get back together permanently?

Alex: "(With just enough sarcasm) The greatest hits album were enough for me”

Jamie: "They didn't sling it out though did they? It was the label."

Nick: "I read something where Pete was saying he didn't even know it had come out.”

What about the new Babyshambles album? Were you fans of that?

Nick: "I’ve only heard a few songs, but the were good tracks."

Alex: "I liked it and I liked him on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.”

Nick: "He seemed like a nice gentleman"

Alex: "I met him once. I was at this party in this club this time last year when we were recording, and someone who I’d never met said Oi! Come here and led me through this door and there was a studio and in this studio he was stood there with his top off."

Nick: "Topless?!"

Alex: "It were surreal. For a start there's a studio in a club, then there’s Pete Doherty and then he's got his top off he’s taller than you’d think.”

Matt: "I remember meeting him, as a fan actually, at a Strokes gig at Alexandra Palace I had my picture took with him and that’s when I realised he were tall."

In May, offices and schools across the UK began blocking students from using Facebook.

Alex: "I’ve never even been on Facebook"

Jamie: "(Antagonised) You know what? That’s fair enough if they should be workin’ or learning, not making take friends"

Matt: "What's the difference between…”

Jamie: "(Raising voice) No, but fair enough! You're fucking working!"

Matt: "Um, what's the difference between Facebook and MySpace?”

Please tell me one of the Arctic Monkeys knows what Facebook or MySpace are...

Alex: "I've never looked on them."

Jamie: "I haven't."

Matt: “I know what MySpace looks like, cos other people have shown me theirs, but none of us have actually got one.”

Are there any sites you do frequent?

Matt: "I don't mind The Hype Machine. I go on to search for remixes before they get heard properly."

Nick: "I got really into Wikipedia at one point. I read loads of things about joe Meek and Shack"

Alex: "He’ll read all these facts then casually throw them into conversation the next day."

Matt: "Askjolene.com is the biggest adult search engine in the world.. Just throwing that in there"

Gordon Brown - a big fan of yours, apparently - took over from Tony Blair this summer as Britain's 51st Prime Minister. How's he done so far?

Nick: "I've not really noticed any changes."

Matt: "It's neutral for me."

Who will you be voting for next time?

Matt: "I need to start evaluating, reading all their manifestos."

Nick: "I’ll Wikipedia them all and make a decision that way.”

The UK smoking ban kicked in on July 1. Has it bothered you?

Matt: "Nick's the only one of us that smokes."

Nick: "Oi, my mum reads this!"

Matt: "(Back-tracking hastily) Like I said, Nick doesn't even smoke."

Nick: "I agree with it, even though 1 do smoke. I think it's a good thing."

Alex: "You get weird smells now, I reckon."

Matt: "We were reading about that place where they give out free deodorant because you smell people more now in bars."

Nick: "It's a good way to meet new people outside I've found. And it someone's getting on your nerves you can just say. 'Right, Im going outside for a cigarette."

Alex: "I think it will become less strict in a few years. 'Cos like in New York they've had it a bit longer and they turn a blind eye to it some places there now.”

In August we had another music legend pass away; Tony Wilson.

Alex: "That were a right shock. I'm not a huge fan of the Manchester music scene. but enough for his death to mean a lot."

Nick: "I always imagine him as Alan Partridge, y know! Well, Steve Coogan in 24 Hour Party People. That's where I first got to know of Tony Wilson."

Alex: "(Looking glum) What happened in September, NME?"

You can have the Diana death inquest or Klaxons winning the Mercury Prize.

Alex: "Klaxons winning the Mercury Prize."

Matt: "You could say Klaxons winning the Mercury Prize if you want, or you could say us losing the Mercury Prize"

How did you feel about that?

Matt: "It were alright. It were a bit of a dent on my life."

Nick: "Well done, Klaxons. I wanted Dizzee Rascal to win it."

Matt: "'Yeah, Maths + English'"

Nick: "I thought it was Winehouse's though."

Alex: "But then I think Klaxons' album is more of an album than Amy Winehouse's album. Like, Amy Winehouse's album had some good tunes an' that. But I think as a thing, you can't really argue with Klaxons."

What did you think about Radiohead shocking the music industry with the way they released In Rainbows' this autumn?

Alex: "We heard Radiohead's riveting radio broadcast on the way home last night."

Matt: "I nearly fell asleep at the wheel!"

Alex: "I were nudging him! 'Keep your eyes on the road!"

Nick: "I think it was quite a clever idea for them. I think it works well for them cos their fans are the type of fans who’d probably really be into that concept."

Is it something you'd ever do?

Alex: "Nah."

Matt: "That'll be memorable 'cos they'd gone out of their way to do something different, but I don't think we need to. Obviously they don't need to either. They can afford to do stuff like that."

Alex: "They've done it now. You only need to do an experiment like that once. I don't feel like it was designed to change anything"

Matt: "They said themselves, 'It's not a template' See! I was listening last night."

Then at the end of the year, Led Zeppelin finally played their long-awaited reunion show in London. Did you apply for tickets?

Matt: "Nope. I would have gone if late Led Zep drummer] John Bonham was still alive."

Nick: "Oh, Matt."

Matt: "I'm not that bothered by them. It's not that big a deal."

Jamie: "Nah, it really is! (Laughing) Thats why a lot of people are going."

Nick: "I had a phase of being a big Zep fan. I remember I had a perlod of about six months thinking they were the bee's bollocks."

Which brings us right up to the end of the year. What great truths have Arctic Monkeys learned in 2007?

Nick: "We learned that we're really into finding out where expressions came from. So we learned where 'fill your boots' came from - it's where old, er-”

Matt: "Cavaliers."

Nick: "Yes, Cavaliers!"

Matt: "They'd get their place at the bar and once they were there they wouldn't want to lose it, so they'd piss straight into their boots so they could carry on drinking. They had big boots on, like. That's it. There's our great truths.”

Or are they? Can we trust anything that comes out of the mouths of Satan's Little Helpers? Perhaps it's all just an evil plot to make us urinate on our own footwear this Christmas. Or go on festive arson rampages. Or cause expletive-induced coronaries in the elderly. Whatever, Arctic Monkeys certainly wish you all a very scary a Christmas.

Jikook and their “Don’t give a **** “ era ?

There is something that I have noticed recently whilst researching for my Live Reaction threads. That is, 2021 seems to have been claimed as the "jikook don't give a **** era." This isn't just from jikookers, but from the fandom and general public too. I have seen this phase used a lot when looking back into 2021 moments and also with the recent release of Memories 2021. One example of this was during the second Seasons Greetings 2022 teaser. Just like the change of reaction to the ramen comments, the way people responded to this was vastly different to how the fandom reacted to 2021 Seasons Greetings. I shall explore where this phrase has come from and what has caused it to start.

The end of 2020 going into 2021

The first teaser for Seasons Greetings 2021 came out on the 9th November 2020, giving us an idea of what the concepts would be to begin with. The second teaser was uploaded on the 11th November. During this video, you could see a clip of Jimin and Jungkook in similar attire. It was obvious by the clips of the other members that Jikook would be in a unit together. 

Fast forward to December 16th and clips from the DVD were slowly being uploaded. However, a certain unit clip was missing from the Twitter timeline. This was Jimin and Jungkook's pizza unit. We did not see it in full until Peaches had uploaded it, causing jikookers to thank them for all their effort. JK accounts at the time were asked why they did not include their unit scene with no response. It included Jeon Jungkook, so why not include the content clip when he is with Park Jimin?  

Around the same time of Seasons Greetings we had a flurry of jikook. MMA Black Swan was on the 6th December, which showed Jimin and Jungkook’s clear dance skill and chemistry. This was quickly followed by the Dynamite Holiday Remix on the 11th, showing a very comfy looking jikook being intimate with each other. We also saw some very sweet moments between jikook in early 2021 when Winter Package was released on February 27th. All of this footage clearly highlighted the bond between Jimin and Jungkook. Nothing new to jikookers who are used to seeing them being close, but to some these clips had started a certain spark.

Butter Era On the 21st May 2021, Butter was released with a press conference and vlive on the same day. After the press conference @bts_bighit posted a group photo. In it, Jimin is leaning his head on Jungkook’s cheek with their bodies turned to each other. There was a slight murmur in the fandom. Nothing big, but Jimin and Jungkook’s stance in the official photo was definitely noticed. It’’s this photo that sparks the catalyst for the idea that Jikook were showing more than previous years in 2021.  We later got Bangtan Bombs of Jikook being together for the photoshoot for Butter and during the making of the MV. You couldn’t ignore that they were often together in these videos where Jimin and Jungkook are playing or goofing around, whilst the other members rested or played with their phones. Again, this is nothing new.

There were no shortages of cute jIkook moments. From cute moments from Run BTS, with Jungkook’s Mother saying she loved Jimin. To interviews with Jikook yet again ending up in their own little worlds. We had Jungkook admitting that he is Jimin's Copycat. With VLives where Jimin and Jungkook can’t keep their eyes or hands off each other. Then seeing Jikook sing “Anyone” together followed by Jimin literally jumping into Jungkook’s arms. Something that is clearly natural between them. Throughout the entire year, there were countless clips of Jikook being together.

The End of 2021

Just like 2020 there was an influx of Jikook towards the end of the year. On September 10th we got the release of MOTS ON:E DVD, with the famous hickey clip. Followed by Jimin and Jungkook posting selcas whilst it was trending. A few days later,  a selca was posted of Jikook together at the airport on their way to the UN. With some saying it reflected a couples trend at the time. At the event itself, Jungkook gave Jimin a look of support after he lost his place and defended him during the Vlive afterwards. You will know from other clips that Jikook communicates through looks or smiles, giving support even in important events.

On Jimin’s Birthday we got the very domestic Vlive, where Jimin rang for Jungkook. Jungkook arrived very quickly and the two could NOT stop holding hands and being very sweet together until Jimin continued his vlive alone again. You could not deny the vibes here as soon as Jungkook entered the room. The same happened during the Vlive with Jobi, Tae, Jimin and JK in America. As soon as Jungkook was there, JImin lit up and his body language changed. The tones they both used. The way they acted and spoke about each other. ARMY must have felt the same way, because this VLive had such a positive reaction and they recognised the same behaviour in future vlives.

It had been a long time since BTS had performed in front of an audience. The atmosphere was huge in the US and Seoul. You will see Jikook behave the same way in 2021 and 2022 as they have in previous years. The fun dances, the flirting, the butt smacking. All of it. However, to those that are unaware it was like they needed a reminder. The reactions to all the concert performances in terms of Jikook were the loudest. ARMY could not believe that Jikook was doing this in front of so many people in a stadium. Forgetting moments at locations such as Rose Bowl and Hamilton.

To me, it is obvious that 2021 was not a “don’t give a **** era” for Jikook. It was just a period of time where the fandom and public became more aware of them. They have always had fun during DNA. Always supported each other. Always behaved the same way. However, this time, some ARMY have indeed opened their eyes. It’s not just jokes that last a few days, some are really looking back and asking themselves if there is something there. It’s not Jikook that has changed, it’s how they are perceived by their own fandom.

Memories 2021 Discs 5 - 6

So I asked again when I said I was going to watch memories in full if you would be interested in commentary from me as I did so. There were a lot of people who said yes, so here we are! I have officially watched BTS Memories of 2021. Here are my thoughts as I went. There were 7 DVDs in this one. Reminder that these aren't going to be smoothly written out thoughts. You get these like I'm live reacting, texting my bestie or live tweeting. Lol it'll be in like bullet point format sort of, just... a commentary post as I go. Lol Part 1 and Part 2 here covers Discs 1 - 4. Part 3 here will cover Disc 5 and half of Disc 6. Hope you enjoy anyway! Let's go!

Disc 5

Butter Motion Clip Making Film:

BTS with flowers is such a pretty and wonderful concept for real. When the photographer called Jimin the flower and he got all flustered was so cute! Jhope having a hurt foot and in pain, yet the professional always wins out and you'd never be able to tell from how he took his photos! I hope he healed up quickly! Editors calling Yoongi an Elf 😭 I'm obsessed. JK saying that everyone looked so good in today's outfits/concept! He is so right! The photographer saying to get closer together in a natural way for the group shot and Jhope going "okay okay" and grabbing Jimin by the waist to pull him in close 🥺 cuteee and even directed others into closer poses too! Lol our Dance and Photography Leader 😍 playing rock paper scissors to see how gets to be the top of the pyramid and Yoonmins complete happiness at winning is ADORABLE.

Yoonmin finishing their concept change first and just hanging out on the floor together petting the puppy. 🥺🥺 2seok finishing their shoots and Jin asking Jhope out for a drink! Lol I love the way they joke and flirt with each other like that. It's seriously so cute and it's always the same! I admire the consistency in wanting to go grab that drink together! Jhope laughing about how they do it so much there is even an article out about how they say that 🤣 Jimin going last for the photos and Jin had gone first but he stuck around the whole time to wait for Jimin (getting 2017 spring day flashbacks!) And kept trying to photobomb and crash his photos and clinging to Jimin 🤣 Why are they so flipping cute?! 😭😭😭

2seok making me fall hard for their bond in memories everytime! Lol they get out of their cars and when they see each other immediately start talking over each other trying to compliment the others outfit/hat! Cuteee. During Review of their performance takes, the members point out where they aren't happy but the others are just so complimentary. You are always your own biggest critic for sure! Vmin singing to each other 🥺 After the cut for the Butter performance taekook giggling over how they sang/danced with arms around each other and everyone praising each other. Vmin walking off stage with arms around each other. To be there and just bask in all the love these guys share? How beautiful. Jimin pretending to scold the band member who was late and the band member just giving Jimin a cute high five and making him smile as he ran to his instrument in the back 😂😂 The way Tae was looking Joonie during his PTD verse 🥺 my heart! They all have so much fun during this song!

Filming PTD with the balloons and the each get one. Taekook immediately going crazy wacking them around and on Jin, who just goes "you are such kids" sounding so put out like he doesn't just immediately join them doing the same things 😂 can't fool us Jin! We know you love it! Lol JK boxing all the balloons. Jimin just coming over, holding his hands and pulling him away, their smiles 🥺 the caption lol "quit boxing and come play with me" (moment is the first gif used in the post) Jihope together are so important and bring such a new level to these performances honestly. Jhope learning about specific things like when the balloons are to be released from the staff and then teaching the exact timing to all the other members. Jihope working together during the review process to decide what to change up or refine to make it look better. Jimin taking time to explain it more and help out Jin (in this case) to make sure he understands and helps him practice. They both do this for all the members and it's continually one of my favorite things to see happen. "Showcasing their great teamwork" from the editors as BTS nail each shot. It's so true. JK losing his balloon by accident at ending mentions and then trying to steal Hobis balloon instead 😂🤣

Butter filmed on this bridge was the COOLEST thing. It was also super neat that after it aired an ARMY shared that she could see/hear BTS filming on the shut down bridge by her house. And she recorded it and than sat on that footage AND the news for MONTHS until after they released the performance themselves too! You can watch her video here. Also means that this performance was filmed sometime in June of 2021. I can't believe they rented out the whole bridge. They are so cool. Jikook walking down the bridge talking about how cool it is while doing vocal warm ups together! Namjoon just talking about his respect for all the engineering that went into building this bridge and how well done it is. He is so cute 😭 JK giving everyone tips on the best way to run and slide into the camera frame together during Jins verse to make it look smoothest. He is so cute and honestly SO COOL what an idea! Plus seeing them all running around behind the camera director is always so cute. Lol (save me flashbacks). Namjoon just complimenting Jhope and going "if I could dance like youuuu" 🥺😂 JKs smile at the makeup noona as she was fixing his makeup! How do they not melt into puddles everytime?!

Jin winking into the camera at the start! Whew. Jin: "don't I look cute?" Namjoon: "you do" *smiles* me: *melts into a puddle of adorableness* Yoongi: "Jimin and I are striking the same pose" members all giggle, namjoon: "butter just got cuter" me: *melts further if at all possible" 😭 Jikook looking at each other and smiling during the ending mentions when Jimin was talking about how they get to experience so many new things together as BTS referring to performing on the bridge before it even opens. They are so cute.

PTD Practice and MV Making Film:

Dance Practice before they film the MV! JK helping Tae get the moves down exactly for the chorus and Hobi rounding everyone up to get practice started more seriously. Hobi giving general tips and discussions for the the group as a whole and for their synchronization. Jimin giving Tae more minor and specific tips for help too. 🥺 3J in the practice room is my everything honestly. I'm sure you've all gathered that from these posts at this point. Lol Everyone reviewing their practice and cheering about how during the vminkook part, JK held Tae's hat while he spins out of Jimins way and it stayed on Taes head the whole time making it look like a really cool move! "You'd think we had planned that" nope, just the maknae lines perfect chemistry together. Lol JK boxing Jimins shoulder in between practices too. Cuties. JK really can't ever stop moving!

Onto the MV set with BTS deciding their concept for this MV was a gay western! 😂 the amount of yoonkook its giving me is so good for my soul. Lol JK popping out from behind Yoongi with the BIGGEST smile, melts me. And them dancing together and acting cute 😍 Adorable. JK teaching us all the sign language in the choreo 🥺🥺 JK filming on top of the big truck, and then Jimin joining him! JK helping him up so sweetly and the cute looks they exchanged the whole time they were dancing. So precious! They had fun for sure. "They look more excited because they are together" 🥺 Editors, my heart can't take it! All the tennis ball hair jokes for poor RM 😂 "real friends are merciless when they tease" TELL EM EDITORS lmfao. Filming the group scene and I can't tell if Jin was just pretending to take a nap on JKs shoulder or if he really did doze off in the background there 😂😂 and of course it's not a BTS behinds video if Jinkook aren't fighting at least once. Lol this time with balloons. Jinkook blowing the balloons air in each other's faces, Jimin sitting next to them sighing heavily 🤣🤣 the exasperation! The group hip thrusts are unnecessary. 🤣 whose idea was that?! Idk what kinda dance TaeJin are doing, but it's adorable. Lol with their backs together and arms linked! So cute. TaeJins ice-cream fight of course had to make it into memories as well too! 2seok dancing so excitedly for their duo cut scene that they accidentally danced off center. Lol Jimin jokingly scolding them about how they've been in the industry for HOW LONG and can't stay centered?! 🤣 JK staying late after everyone else to film his solo scene with the spin move he pulled off PERFECTLY. I'm sure Jimin helped him practice it too since it's an iconic move of his! I love it so much!

Day 2 shooting starts off super fun with taejinkook and namgimin trios dancing together in tiny and in sync and having fun! Jimin praising his good hair cut and how cute he looks! Yes sir, I'm glad you know it! Tae wanting to see Jimins cut hair on the recording too! Lol Vmin with the child actors is EVERYTHING. Tae saying he only brought one toy because he didn't know there would be two and promising to buy them more later and Jimin legitimately melting to the ground in a puddle of happiness at the kids calling him "uncle" 😭😭😭 PRECIOUS. Tae holding the kids while they bounce in happiness and looking so cute. Jimin talking with the kids and totally focusing on them and ignoring his poor stylist noona as she tries to fix his clothes for him. They do not make their jobs easy I swear 🤣🤣 Extra Patience has to be part of the job requirements lmfao. JK carrying the little kid back to her dad and the kid telling him that they love JK 100% just like they love their dad. 😭 and JK staying after dropping her off to watch her do the PTD dance and praising her. God they are so cute!! Super random cut scenes of Jikook hugging and Jimin telling JK that he loves him. Lol they are SO CUTE *stomps feet* I can't handle it! BTS starting off for Butter and JK being so excited to film at such a foundational place! They were filming in such cool spots for the performance too! Vhope make such a good team. Their fond smiles at each other's ideas and warm-ups were so cute! Lol at the entire team of tannies spread out across multiple streets practicing for when they all come together and dance in the street. Joon waving at them and calling them all in like his little ducklings! 🥺 The cut before Vmins part and so instead of getting ready to dance together they just stare each other down and Jimin grabbing Tae by the neck like that 😳🤣 calm down vmin! Lol I adore them so much.

Lmfao at Tae complaining that someone accidentally kicked him in the shin. And JK reaching out to comfort him only for Tae to whirl around and go "AH SO IT WAS YOU!" 🤣 And it WAS Jungkook 🤣🤣 and they laugh it off. Lol top tier interaction honestly! Jungkook going around with a fan cooling off all the members during the break. Lol including trying to open up Jimins shirt a bit to fan inside his top to help cool his hyung down 🤣🤣

Getting ready for the PTD stage, hyungs all standing calmly, maknaes can't sit still. Business as usual 😂 Jikook taking up SPACE doing the PTD choreo onstage around everyone else. Lol taekook doing their new handshake/shoulder bump before the members all get serious and ready to start! And they of course NAIL IT even though it was super hot and they were all dying a little in the heat. More Jikookery in this post too! And that wraps up Disc 5 for us!!

Disc 6

35th Golden Disc Awards Making Film:

Their first performance of the year! GDA was held on 210109! And it's the return of Yoongi to the stage as well! A very special day indeed! JK being so excited that they were given permission to take the mini sets of the old MVs home and immediately laying claim to the ON set. Lol Jimin really wanted to take home No More Dream. 🥺 Filming their Black Swan intro and Yoongi getting SO SHY AND FLUSTERED over being told to come up center stage and make such a grand entrance. Lmfao the members were LOVING IT and yoongi was so flustered. Adorable to the max. Jikook finding Yoongi SO CUTE as he sinks into the floor to practice the entrance again 😂 so endeared as they watched him lol. Even though he was joining parts of the filming, he Still couldn't dance with the members. So they filmed On without him. But man, when they watched their review back, Namjoon and Jin asking "when can we dance with Suga again?" Broke me. 😭 lmfao the sudden discussion switch up to Namjoons snow ducks. Tannies can't be serious for a SECOND 😂 Jin following Hobi around copying everything he does. And then roping JK into doing it too. And then Jinkook start copying Tae. Who just plays along saying absolute nonsense 😂 the way their volume just keeps increasing 🤣 Hobi laughing his butt off, Jimin just watching it all with a super fond smile before swooping in, saying "let's head in. Taehyung" and leading JK off as well with an arm around his waist. The way JK just fell so easily into Jimins arm and lead is so insanely cute. 🥰 He really said, yall are adorable and I love you, but let's go now. Lol

Getting ready and coming back to perform Dynamite. JinMin walking up together and Jimin just keeps running into and yet bouncing off Jin. Lmfao Jin just can't stop giggling about it either 😂 JK posing in the elevator at the top of the stage and Jimin teasing him saying "you are acting too much like the main character, get down from there" The staff and other members educating RM on the best way to hold his drink glass out 😂 why he is so cute??

And FINALLY Prerecording stages is done and we get to move onto seeing them accept their awards on the actual award show day! JK and the other members can't stop telling the camera and army about JKs "gold" hair for the "golden Disc awards" lol and Namjoon mentioning the best thing about the award show was getting to have Suga back with them to accept it 😭 They missed him SO MUCH. The Tannies putting all their attention on Yoongi again for the ending mentions. Lol once again flustering him with attention. 😂😍 More Jikookery Here!

Watching all the members run around and play in the arcade before filming telepathy was super cute! And Namjoons high notes during vocal warm ups making 3J laugh so hard! I love seeing them have fun! Jimin jumping backwards super fast during B&G after almost getting caught in the camera angle too early lmfao but was also happily showing appreciation for JKs amazing vocals too! Yoongis laughter after YoonJin accidentally crash into each other during B&G. Lol and singing/dancing to Save Me as a Dynamite warm up just for fun! They had a long day filming all 5 stages in one day, but man they killed it. Amazing stages for amazing songs!

🤣🤣🤣 no, let him! I love seeing Joon be confident in his attractiveness! The members all being just as excited about Drummer JK as the rest of us all were when we finally saw it 🤣🤣 Yoongi saying Hobi looked like a magician today in his hat 🥺 Jihope giggling and calling JK cute on the drums while reviewing takes. And during break all the members can't leave the drums alone. Lol Yoongi taking a turn playing. Tae pretending to be JKs drum teacher but accidentally getting the different drum names wrong 🤣 Vmon opera singers. They always are so silly during break time. Jimin sharing during ending mentions that JK had only practiced the drums for Dynamite for just one day, just yesterday. And JK saying, no just this morning. And all the other members being like "wow! I had no idea" and lavishing praise upon JK for his drum talent. I love hearing it!

Everyone being a little nervous and freaked out about performing on the roof 30 stories high! I don't blame them I would be shaking I'd be so nervous!! RM saying he thinks Jihope will be the two most nervous once they get up there. Lol Jimin shouting he is bored and wants to play chopsticks while they wait. So he plays a game with Hobi and JK joins for the next round. I love seeing 3J laughing and having fun together so much. A fierce bottle flipping competition taking place during their break. Lol the members watching back their one shot takes for the start of Dynamite and everyone LOSING IT when Tae winks at the camera. Lmfao Jimin lovingly checking on ARMYs to see if we are okay and if we can survive one of Taehyung's winks 🤣 Jimin and Yoongi can't contain their excitement and keep breaking out into Happy Dances 🥺 JK keeps practicing his turns and his poor makeup/hair noona is legitimately chasing him around the stage trying to touch up his makeup and hair. The man won't BE STILL 😂😂😂. Everyone naming Suga as the MVP for the day for his cute dance moves and just being happy he is back to performing with them! Tae slapping Yoongis butt repeatedly in celebration lol! At the end 2seok taking pictures of each other at the set and Jimin keeps crashing Jins photos. Lol Hobi taking photos for Tae too, which Jimin also photobombs 😂 Jimin ending the film with a Jimin TV report. He goes and films Tae and asks him to act tired, who just does some heavy breathing. He tries again with Hobi who said he can't right now. He goes to JK who when asked to act tired, even mid make up touch up, started acting his heart out and Jimins giggles over it all. Lol they are so cute.

63rd Grammy Awards Show Making Film:

I have so many incredibly mixed feelings about this. I love them. I love their attitude about everything. I love how they are understanding they might not win but trying to stay positive regardless and keep each others moods up. So many of them were so nervous they had a hard time sleeping. They all woke up at 2 am to get ready for their red carpet interview and the live stream reaction to their awards. They were EXHAUSTED but being so upbeat and there for each other through it all. Jikook sitting on the couch together before moving to their seats for the actual reaction. I know they draw comfort from being close to each other for sure. TaeJin promising kisses if they win the award too 😂🤣 Jin saying Vhope will kiss if they win and Hobi looking so confused 🤣 Tae saying that if they win 2seok will kiss and he will kiss Namjoon on the forehead. So free with the kisses and it's appreciated lmfaoo. And Joon just agreeing saying his forehead is free real estate. You know he loves their affection! They were all so sweet and encouraging to each other through their disappointment too. "Let's hug it out" Being honest about their emotions over it all, but still able to laugh, make jokes and future plans. I'm so proud of them. Tae's dad calling and telling all the members not to be too sad and being so encouraging. Lol Jimin grabbing the phone right after he said that and saying "dad! I'm so sad!!" And giggling. You know means it but he is still being so silly and positive about it all too.

The way they all burst out laughing watching their own reactions to losing 😭😅🤣 Tae going "I want to watch everyone reactions one by one, let's start with Jimin" and sitting down to watch the same clip 7 times over. He is just like us for real lmfao. The way they all gathered into a sleepy puppy cuddle puddle together on the couches to watch their performance after all that too. They are so cute. 2021 Billboard Music Awards Making Film:

Their Killer Butter performance too

During their break between filming the intro and getting into their actual dance, everyone goes and plays with the various instruments around. Jimin starts pretending to play Butter on the piano and just being silly. Suga jokingly goes "ach so embarrassing" and teasing Jimin and JK is just smiling at Jimin so fondly and says "not to me." Heart is MELTING. He is so cute and I can't handle it. Minimoni complaining about aching feet and Joon saying it's because of flat feet. Jimin telling army not to get flat feet and JK again, just there slightly off camera until he isn't looking at Jimin fondly and laughing saying "isn't that something you are born with." They are so cute together. Tae playing the piano and acting out a mini skit and Jikook both just watching him fondly and finding it adorable. Lol taekook disagreeing on if they are seen on camera or not during Jimins mirror move, so JK dropped out early and Tae kept dancing and they bet 50000 won over who is right or not going back to the review camera 🤣 I think JK won as he was right that the camera moved into a zoom on Jimin, but who knows 😂😂 both Jimin and Jhope praising the heck out of RM during the dance break, that had to have made him so happy! 🥺 Cute. The way that we only caught tail ends of jikook fooling around and giggling together during ending mentions because the camera focused on the other members talking but we saw their smiles together afterwards which was cute. They really nailed this performance.

CJ ENM You Quiz on the Block Making Film:

Seeing the members all greeting the hosts so sweetly. I have such respect for them. They are so good to everyone around them. Recounting past experiences from previous variety shows they did with the hosts and being so gracious about it all. Saying that the members wanted to film on You Quiz together more than any other show. And if that's what they wanted and they had fun, I'm all for it. Their utter shock, joy and ultimate happiness when they were surprised by the ARMY fan on the show. They LOVE their fans so much. It's amazing. So admirable. Makes me so soft!! YoonJin being so proud of themselves for winning some money. Lol Jikook playing the spot the couple game at the end during the end of the show group photo. Because of course they were 😂 More Jikookery from You Quiz here too.

Hobi bragging "I just have to be on my phone for this scene!" RM: "you are being rewarded for being a good person" Hobi: flustered. Lol cuteeee. Bangtannies with puppies content is some of my FAVORITE 🥺🥺 the way they all bark and howl everytime the dog does 🤣 The Tannies picked "connection" as their word/theme and showed it through connecting fingers. Which was a super cute joke they didn't let go throughout the entire filming process. Lol Jimin during filming asking where his connection is and every member there jumping up to connect their fingers to his 😂🥺😍 they are all so fucking cute and funny. 2seok doing ending mentions together and saying all they remember from the shoot is everyone's fingers connecting 😂 RM saying he is excited to see what the other artists did for their video. Tae saying the most memorable scene for him was filming his CGI scene on the escalator. Jikook doing their ending mentions together too and saying that looking back and thinking on what you believe in is very meaningful and they had fun filming!

It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of promotions TK will do with their albums. Or what ever it is that they’re going to release before enlistment. I think it’s clear that JK at least has slowly started his preparations after taking a break after the World Cup. Jimin seems to be doing things very traditionally, Hobi and Namjoon were much more selective (and maybe even more creative..) in what they did imo. I could see both TK being a bit more creative as well, we can already see it with Tae being heavily involved with his photo shoots and he did mention in his vlog that he already had several concept ideas etc. I also think that both will be able to do solo interviews etc. in group settings it’s easy to hide yourself behind the others when you know they’ll carry the burden if you can’t, but obviously they’re professionals and also probably want to finally speak for themselves fully.

I think JK will push back from doing the full out thing that HWSNBN has done. I'd imagine his might be a half-way house between that Hobi and RM's promo.

Not logically, it would make sense for JK to do Fallon, but I wonder if he'd be better doing Clarkson as it affords more creativity it's about the singing. I can also imagine JK getting the Award Show debut that BTS did for DNA and Dynamite, and the most likely of those for JK would be the MTV Music Awards in August, and possibly a festival like Lalapalosa.

Tae's I think will be smaller in scale, because I think his album is gonna be more a intimate affair. I think Tae is more likely to do a Tiny Desk type performance, but he is also more likely to do Fallon or even Colbert.

I also think both could maybe decide to do something outside the box and something no-one has even considered.

We move on from stuff so quickly around here. I am still shook over the lace-up black leather glove that appears to sheathe one of Park Jimin’s hands in that teaser pic. TMI but just thinking of what the rest of that pic might be makes me go nnngh. I breathlessly await the return of leather-clad Kitty Gang Jimin v.2.

What else happened within the last few days that we just zoomed right through and kept going? 

Jimin working with some interesting producers [look at his lil feets in ballet position]. He is hardcore serious about this album of his. He never leaves anything on the table when he decides to go all in. Remember blindfolded Jimin live-performing choreography involving multiple spins and never faltering? 

What could Jimin’s album be titled? Wet to Come? Thot Thot? Inner Demon?Badder Decisions? Up and Down (But Mostly Down)? Blue & Pink?  Love Glaze? ha ha just kidding. Sorta. I think I’m still hung up on the thought of black leather straps Jimin. Told you I was shook.

Other things that happened this past week: unaffordable-for-the-masses-collectors-edition PROOF sells out, VMAs: wins the award as fakest award show ever, #ArmysGoingToJailParty (I don’t even know why that trended but it was funny as hell), 2-yr old Dynamite hitting #1 on iTunes Top Songs again (the Queen). 

Never a dull moment around here...at least not many.

It was an interesting read and everything you said made a lot of sense!

I feel really disappointed with the direction jungkook's taking tbh. His album and solo projects were the ones I was looking forward to the most since the second bts announced their hiatus and the fact that they were all going to release solo projects.

But now it's less than a month before his album debut and I'm hardly looking forward to it at all, because none of it seems to be the kind of music I could vibe with (even though his solo songs under the bts label were my favourites lol. I recognise that's a me problem but it does feel like outside of twitter a lot of people feel this way, more so than with the other members' solo works).

That might change once we receive the name of the tracks and the features and stuff, but we'll see.

Also, I think releasing 3D was honestly a bad idea because of the timing. Seven was (and is still) doing REALLY well. Super catchy, most people loved it, and it WAS new and unexpected. but the focus shifted a bit to 3D, except not everyone focused on the main version, and you can tell it's not gonna be as big of a hit.

You also mentioned on another post how the concept photos for golden appear to be very similar to seven and 3D and I can't agree more.

When you do the same thing more than once in a short period of time in a row, the hype becomes a little less because the surprise/anticipation factor is less, y'know?

Idk, I'm aware Jungkook was chilling and enjoying his break (and good for him) but that did mean he got less time to release a lot of content, so the whole idea of trying to release 2 big singles and then an album in 5 months doesn't seem like a good idea.

and then released his album 5 months later with a slightly different vibe. Because now by the time 3D will become more accepted and more known by the general public, his album will release and the focus will be on the title track.

The timing and really everything surrounding 3D was bad all round (except for the alternate version and the performance for that because I agree it was 100 times much better)

No, you aren't being too negative! If you are, I am too, and you're being more positive than me! The timing with 3D did suck. If you just think of it as a "gift" for the fans who were waiting for more music, then it didn't suck. From a business perspective, it wasn't the best move. The main issue was really the feature imo (though 3D's sound was never going to make a splash). Had 3D been announced as a solo, there would've been some of that shock/surprise factor and a lot more anticipation since we're all waiting for a real solo release. That would've been something to look forward to and to generate hype. A better MV would've helped too. At least 3D is kinda helping Seven in the charts...? It's gone number 1 on Spotify Global twice ever since 3D came out haha.

I'm really hoping that the album will surprise me! Tbh, boring concept photos are a BTS thing. It probably doesn't just happen to them, but I think Dynamite and Butter were the last eras to have exciting promo pics that had everyone talking about them. The concept/promo pics for Proof, for example, were super boring imo. I didn't even care for Jimin's Face promo pics and I remember a lot of people liking them. I don't think Big Hit is the best when it comes to that.

ITZY releases new album 'BORN TO BE' on January 8th... Fierce comeback [Official]

The group ITZY will make a comeback with the new album 'BORN TO BE' on January 8, 2024.At midnight on December 4, the agency JYP Entertainment released an announcement video, scheduler image, and track list announcing ITZY's first comeback in 2024 on its official channel.

First, the announcement video with exciting sound caught people's attention by depicting small embers coming together to form a burning flame, which soon exploded, depicting the album name 'BORN TO BE'. ITZY, who announced a 'fiery comeback' with a hot and powerful video, plans to release a new album 'BORN TO BE' on January 8th at 6 PM and ignite K-pop fans.The large-scale promotion and track list targeting the first half of 2024 also cheers fans at home and abroad. Well yes! I stopped stanning in early 2018 and the snippets of idol, dynamite and butter I've been forced to hear haven't exactly made me regret my decision. But I'm planning to slowly catch up and who knows, I might really like black swan or filter or a number of their other b-sides! I'm not prejudiced... Much

We Spoke With BTS About The Irresistibly Charming “Butter”

“I want to make songs that remain in people’s minds for a long time,” BTS leader RM told BuzzFeed News.

On April 26, a corner of the internet exploded.

A countdown had appeared on BTS’s YouTube channel, and the group’s fans — ARMY — immediately entered panic mode. Over the next hour, ARMY watched in their hundreds of thousands as an animated yellow cube melted into the shape of a heart. At the end of the hour, the title of BTS’s next single was finally revealed, and in the weeks that followed, RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook unveiled numerous concept clips, stylized photos, and tantalizing teasers for fans to devour.

It all culminated at midnight ET on Friday with the release of “Butter,” the new summer single from the biggest band in the world.

As is now tradition for BTS, the song’s music video promptly broke a YouTube record, premiering with almost 3.9 million concurrent viewers. By the end of its first hour, it had racked up more than 20 million views. The release was a pop culture moment, and something BTS leader RM was excitedly anticipating when he spoke with BuzzFeed News over email the day before the song dropped.

“Of course, the moment when we reveal our song and music video — nothing can match that momentary satisfaction,” RM explained. “It doesn't last long, but that flashing moment really hits us. Surprise!”

The song and music video are both a much-needed breath of fresh summer air after a long, long winter stuck inside. At a global press conference marking the song’s release on Friday, vocalist Jimin described it as “cute and maybe a little charismatic, but also kind.” The group’s youngest, Jung Kook, promised that “Butter” will “stick with you for a long time.”

Vibrantly uplifting and icy cool in equal measure, “Butter” is the group’s second single — after last year’s Grammy-nominated smash “Dynamite” — sung and rapped entirely in English. “We wanted to have a fun BTS summer song that everyone can enjoy,” Jin told BuzzFeed News of that decision. “And as always, we want our music to reach out to as many people as possible.”

“Recording ‘Butter’ was really fun,” V agreed. “And we wanted to share those good vibes with our listeners and enjoy this summer.”

While things may be looking more hopeful now than they were when the group released “Dynamite” in 2020, it’s undeniable that the events of the last year have affected the way BTS approaches making music.

At Friday’s press conference, rapper SUGA acknowledged how living through the pandemic has impacted how he feels about his work, with him spending time listening to BTS’s back catalog to understand the consoling influence their music can have on its listeners.

“Most of the music that I grew up listening to talked about dreams, hope, and introspection in the midst of despair,” SUGA told BuzzFeed News of the importance of positivity in his music. “I got influenced by that kind of music and became who I am today. So in turn I also want to give that kind of influence.”

That desire to provide comfort and hope was exemplified with the release of the group’s latest album, BE, last November. Suddenly stuck at home with more free time than they’d had in years, BTS made it their mission to provide their fans with a distraction from the despair and threw themselves headfirst into making music. Every member participated more directly than ever before in the creation of the album — an experience Jimin, who took on the role of project manager, told BuzzFeed News he “enjoyed a lot.”

“I could see very closely our members’ efforts and hard work and the experience motivated me to do even better going forward,” Jimin said of what the process taught him. “It also made me realize how many helping hands we need to finish an album.”

As for RM, the last year has left him thinking more about the lasting legacy of the music BTS makes.

“I started thinking more about the inner essence of myself and people,” he said. “I want to make songs that remain in people’s minds for a long time.”

But imparting positivity, comfort, hope, and joy isn’t all the group is aiming for with “Butter.”

“This song leans more towards getting to know us and our charms more,” V explained.

That is certainly true. “Butter” is undeniably a self-love anthem (“When I look in the mirror / I’ll melt your heart into two / I got that superstar glow,” Jin and Jimin sing in the pre-chorus) — something those familiar with BTS’s discography will know they have preached passionately for years. But the song’s lyrics are also reminiscent of one of the group’s older B-side tracks — a cheeky, self-aware tribute to their fans that likens their appeal as idols to the classic folktale The Pied Piper of Hamelin.

“Come here, I’m your paradise / Can’t close your eyes,” the members sing in 2017’s “Pied Piper.” “Even if you try to resist, you won’t be able to help it.”

That wink-nudge acknowledgment of their own irresistibility is reflected in “Butter”: “Pull you in like no other / Don’t need no Usher / To remind me you got it bad,” V sings in the second verse.

Any fan will tell you he’s not wrong; the BTS ARMY is sure to gain a whole slew of new recruits with “Butter.”

It’s impossible to talk about BTS — or, in fact, with them — without also acknowledging the fans they hold so close to their hearts. The strength of their connection with ARMY is evidently something always at the forefront of their minds: Just a couple of hours after their press conference wrapped, the members were on V App, streaming live to celebrate the release of “Butter” directly with fans. When BuzzFeed News asked if they still get nervous about releasing new music, V said he is actually more excited — “about ARMY’s reaction, and to see them happy.”

“I think we can maintain such an incredible relationship because we know what ARMY means to us,” rapper j-hope mused. “And vice versa.”

“Butter” exists as a neatly packaged, three-minute-long reminder of that relationship. The music video is sprinkled with subtle shoutouts to the group’s fans: There’s the BTS and ARMY logos side by side on elevator buttons and the date of BTS’s first concert hidden in Jimin’s made-up mugshot. But there are more overt references too — the members giddy and grinning, literally spelling out the word “ARMY” with their bodies, as RM raps: “Got ARMY right behind us when we say so.”

It speaks to the power of BTS that a moment witnessed simultaneously by almost 4 million viewers feels like a playful community in-joke, and it’s impossible not to imagine the moment tens of thousands of ARMY experience that line rapped in a stadium for the first time. It’s been more than a year since BTS have seen their fans in person, and even longer since they’ve performed in front of an audience, and the moment they are finally able to do so again is never far from their minds.

“It’s going to be beautiful, passionate, and emotional for sure,” Jung Kook told BuzzFeed News of the day that reunion finally arrives. “What else should I say?”

As for the more immediate future, the members of BTS like to maintain a little mystery. They’ll be performing “Butter” for the first time at this Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards — where they’re nominated in four categories — and SUGA expressed hopes at Friday’s press conference that the song might become their next Billboard No. 1. In less than a month, they’ll be kicking off Festa, the annual celebration of the June 13 anniversary of their debut, and they are always, of course, working on music. But as for the possibility of another album in the near future — that’s for them to know, and us to find out.

“I’m afraid I cannot elaborate,” j-hope teased when BuzzFeed News asked about BTS’s upcoming plans. “But we do have some other surprises. So keep on the lookout!”

Seasons Greetings 2021

My thoughts and commentary as I watch Seasons Greetings 2021! There is only the one making DVD in this package, just 93 minutes long. The other part of this was just the photobook and extra merch. Reminder that these are just my thoughts, it's not very organized. You get me typing it out as I go like I'm reacting to a friend. Somewhat like a bullet point format in a way. Here we go! This package was filmed in the beginning of September of 2020, they mention it at the end of the package. You can watch the full SG21 on YouTube here.

The DVD opens with Jimin for his first individual shoot all dressed up in his track suit, bag and scarf wrapped around his head looking all cute. Lol I swear only he can make that look cool I feel like. What an outfit. JK walking by for his shoot up next and seeing Jimin all dressed up and absolutely MELTING out of his tough guy persona he had on. Lmfao he completely melted at Jimin's cuteness and that chin tap and smile as he passed Jimin. And Jimins blush. God now IM melting. 🥰😍😍

JK looked like such a badass. I loved the yellow umbrella addition too! The way they all dressed in styles they picked out themselves is so cute. Jin looked like a whole baddie. I love glasses on him honestly. Hobi looking super hip! It suits him so well. I love that we got a jikook2seok unit shoot here too. I adore so much that the outfit Yoongi oicked for himself was total Hobi-core type of a look. And it SUITS HIM. Tae has never met a style he couldn't pull off and Namjoons HAIR is killing me. I love it. He looks so cool. The whole concept for the entirety of the Seasons Greetings was strangers to Seoul. I love it. The group shoot is so funny too. Jinkook immediately competing in billiards but in the silliest ways they can. "Jungkook and I used to play like this all the time." Photos of them playing pool, Jimin nailing his shoot in the game and immediately turning to get high fives from JK who is already there ready to give them! Jimin being the world's best person and being so kind when teaching Namjoon and Hobi how to play too. The vmin handshake and JK trying to join in on it too lmao. Jikook were very much so staying near each other through the whole billiards shoot for the most part. It was cute! Then all going for a group photoshoot at a bar too! JK pouring Jimins drinks so casually. Lol and they all look so good even in these intense outfits! Everyone dancing around to Dynamite, JK pulling Jimin into him by his TIE. Lol okay sir. 3J in the back pulling goofy thumbs up poses. And everyone gathering for a drink pretending to be strangers for real 🤣

They then introduced themselves and their profiles they created for the "strangers" they were all playing as they were new to Seoul. We have Illgok-dong Bounce Hobi, Soccer King Jimin, Busan Man JK, Dokgo Mint Chocolate RM, BTS-dong Grasshopper V, Tuna Flavored Cucumber Jin, Taejeon-dong Shooting Guard Suga. And they all explained their names and created the rest of their backgrounds and about me boards for their character. Lol my favorite being that Tae created a whole rivalry between his character and Jhope's 🤣 Jikook both putting "myself" as their characters role model. Lol and I legit need Jin to write a book. They then also of course fill out their 2020 board as themselves too!

And then we kick off some unit shoots in New outfits! Starting off with the iconic jikook shoot in their matching denim fits. Oof the moments from this shoot were sooooo good. It's all the giggles shared. It's the way JK was checking out Jimin from behind when they were posing. Lol (gif below) or how he kept peeking over at Jimin and copying his poses too (hyungs copycat). It's Jimin feeding JK his pizza aggressively lol. It's the way Jimin leaned in real close and JK stopped chewing and looked down at Jimins lips instead 👀 (2nd gif in the post). And the way they sat so close decorating those their shoes and kept sneaking glances at each other too. 😭 my heart. My loves. JK showing off his shoe to Jimin for praise. Jimin decorating his shoe with Young Forever on one side (a song that means a lot of him) and Jeon Jungkook with a silly emoji on the other side! And scolding JK lightly when he didn't stop drawing after that section of the shoot was over lol. They are so special. And the editors teasing them too. Lol "what's something that Jungkook, whose good at everything, finds difficult? Holding in his laughter while looking at Jimin." They just make each other so happy. Jimin talking about how its the end of Day 1 shooting for them now. How they started super early at 7am. JK interrupts saying no, at 3am. And Jimin just goes, no that was in your dreams. It was 7am. Lol he said they (him and JK) came first and are leaving last. JK said their concept was 2 friends who came from Busan together. Lmao flirty vibes for these friends in this shoot!

Namjin had the next unit with the concept two lonely men in the city. They look AMAZING. Jin asking Joon if he wants to have dinner together that night 🥺 Joonie bragging about getting his individual shoot done first and Jin just going "we have to leave at the same time anyway." Lmao and Joon flirting at the end! Lmao the way he said ARMY would like it (Jins outfit) and showed off more of Jins chest. Jin asking if Joon would hang out with him if he dressed like this everyday and RM just saying that he would pass out and that he would hang out, but wouldn't talk to him 👀🤣🤣🤣 Jin going "stop right there" lmfao dying. He is so funny sometimes with the out of pocket compliments like that. TaeGiSeok were the last unit and also did a lonely man concept together. They looked so good! I loved the talks about how they did feel lonely for real when they all first got to Seoul but they love it now. And Hobi complimenting Yoongi on his hair extensions!

Everyone getting ready for Day 2 shooting and we've got Yoongi on the guitar and Jimin cutely falling asleep in his chair 🥺🥺 Finishing up their solo shoots, Jinkook bickering and kicking each other on their way over to Suga for their unit shoot with him 😂 it's CONSTANT with them. The way Yoongi rubs JKs back 🥺🥺 and all 3 voting Suga as the best dressed! The 94z did a unit shoot! And idk if Hobi can get through a shoot with these guys without grabbing their chests! Lol "when did you get so bulked up?" He says while holding a handful of Joon chest. 🤣 they were so cute though. And after that they did an OT7 group shoot as well! The reminiscing over shooting the RUN MV here too! Lol and Yoongi so sweetly rubbing Tae's back. Those are his babies yall 😭 and lastly, we got the vmin unit shoot! The red and green outfits and matching curly blond hair was so cute. The editors calling them out on their mischief was cute too. Lol the way Tae wouldn't stop telling Jimin he likes him 🤣 "I like you" he says over and over while Jimin keeps knocking his hands away. Lol and the way Tae held Jimin when they talked at the end was so soft too. Cuties. The way everyone shared memories of when they ACTUALLY first came to Seoul was amazing. I loved hearing their stories!

They did another group shoot on bus 613 🥺 and were all so cute. Jimin pretending to fall asleep almost on Yoongis shoulder and leaning across the aisle to mess with Hobi. Tae legitimately falling asleep against the window breifly. Lol Tae trying to hold Jins hand and Jin going "nope" 🤣 and Tae accidentally breaking the bus hand rail thing! And they end the day all gathering together to talk with MC Jungkook! JK says 2021 is the year of the cow, which is why he got to be MC, which Jimin reminds us all that JK was born in the year of the cow. Lol they introduced their characters as well as their journals. Namjoons was super cute. Everyone giggled. Hobi found it right up his sense of humor. Jin joked about saying the needed to end their friendship since he hates mint chocolate and that's who Joon based his character on 😂

Jimin introducing his character. Who he said was from Seoul and JK going "oh? Busan??" when Jimin spoke with a slight Busan accent by accident. Lol Yoongi keeps teasing him too! The bickering duo. And Tae commenting on his small fingers. Lol no one letting Jimin breathe!

Yoongi making everyone laugh by saying his character was Korean American and only just started learning Korean as a language. Lol and asking Joon for help on some english words to throw in his introduction too. 🤣 I love him. And of course, Jimin has to tease him back and tells him to read his journal in English only 😂

JK with his Busan Man character. Lol Tae teasing that it sounds just like that Jungkook guy from BTS when he said his motto is what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine. And that he likes wearing black and drinking milk and that his personality is teenage angst. 🤣 lmao JK coming to Seoul from Busan with some teenage angst? Don't we all 🤣 and everyone started to tease him for speaking half informally through his character introduction. And Tae's comment on JKs character journal "I hope you grow out of your teenage angst." Lmfao!

Tae was so excited to share his. His characters personality is just "violent." Lol Tae sharing his dream is to take down his rival (Jhope) and Hobi being so confused about being in a rivalry he had no idea about 😂 and yet Bounce (Jhope) is also his role model. What a complicated relationship they must have 🤣

Jhope introduced his character Bounce with a bright but introverted personality. Tae interjecting more details into Hobis story to make theirs match better. Lol I love the overlap. His character was mostly just excited to dance and for the world cup!

And lastly Jin, whose character is a Cucumber. Lol with a whole backstory about how the Cucumber became Tuna Flavored. The editors saying his journal reads like a children's book, I AGREE EDITORS. Joons comment was "I don't like Cucumbers." Lol the savagery 😭🤣

JK brings them back around. Back to being BTS members as themselves for the next round! They did a relay journal entry for the future. Starting the journal was Jhope who picked the title "they are back together" and the year 2040, along with a starting point for the journal entry. The order for writing the journal went Hobi, Jimin, Suga, JK, Jin, Namjoon and ending with Tae. Lol the absolute chaos of this story and everyone's laughter and jokes as Tae reads out the whole thing. Amazing.

They moved onto their journals looking back on the year 2020 next. Jin rated his year at an 85 so far since he is happy with how he is living his life. Jhope rated 2020 at 77, since it feels like a lucky number. Tae telling us we would get his mixtape in 2021. Lol unfortunately we did not. He rated the year 80 for his good efforts and for getting billboard number 1. JK was dubbed the planning king of BTS for all his plans he wanted to do. Lol but also the quitting king of BTS. 😭🤣 The teasing never stops. He rated his year a 55 since he did half of what he originally planed, plus 5 points for billboard lol. Suga is the planning king of BTS as well, and he did all his plans except study English. He rated his year 72, with room to grow since the year wasn't over yet. Jimin shared his based off BTS plans in general. Taekook goofing off while Jimin was talking and got scolded 😅🤣 Jimin gave his year a rating of 85. RM said one of his plans was to workout. Cue all the immediate compliments from the members and yoonmin immediately feeling up his strong biceps and making Joon all flustered. Lol he gave his year a 78 in hopes to make it higher before the year ended too.

JK brings us back around by reading off what their goals were in the last seasons greetings for the year 2020. RMs was to be preform at Grammys or be nominated for music and work on lots of songs. Jins was to perform in lots of countries and go fishing with the members. Suga's was to perform at the Grammys and travel the world. Jhope's was to set aside exhausting thoughts and appreciating and enjoying every moment. Everyone asking if he was appreciating every moment and Tae goes "you appreciate me?" He is so cute. Lol Hobi going "yes, I appreciate all of you. All... 7 of you." While patting Tae and Jin so sweetly. And Tae just going, I didn't ask about everyone. I asked about me. 🤣🤣 lol Hobi going "of course I appreciate Taehyung" while laughing. Jimins was to keep their relationship with ARMY. Vs was that he wants to be a passionate person, work on lots of songs and gaming experience. He wants to play the violin and take many pictures and travel with the members. Everyone giggling at his many goals. Jimin praising him for working hard on his songs and lots of other things too. Hobi telling him he worked hard. JK saying that he did at least play the violin once and did a good job learning many things that year. 🥺🥺 they are so supportive. I swear. JKs goal was that since he can't stick to one thing for a long time, he wants to try many things out in 2020. Jimin immediately saying he did exactly that. Everyone chiming in with agreements and Tae returning the exact same head pat and compliment JK gave him. Lol they are so cute.

And we end it off for the day with their goals for 2021. In one word if possible. Lol starting with Jin. Whose goal is "tour, health." Jhope says concert. Tae says ARMY. JK says responsibility. Suga says tour. Jimin also says Tour. And RM says Grammys, more specifically, RM wants to be nominated and perform at the Grammys.

And the DVD ends with the last day of shooting on day 3 on the railroad tracks. And we get the cutest unit of miniminimoni 🥺 RM copying Jimins hat pose. The 3 of them playing with butterfly nets. Joon actually goes and catches a dragonfly with it and shows it off to the staff and Jimin all excited! And NamGi going off on a small tangent about Jin not knowing what the countryside looks like 😅 he isn't even there to defend himself from the teasing! Vhope doing the cutest unit with bikes as their props too. Looking so precious. JinKook starts their unit shoot off by hitting each other, of course 🤣 and playing with cows and puppies and spiders. And photobombing each other. Lol why are they like this? 🥰🤣 they were just so goofy. Even before the other members all joined for the group photos. Lol I love their energy.

The ending mentions were sweet. JK saying that bugs don't scare him anymore after ITS. Lol and Jimin going "they still scare me!" And JK just pointing at him like, "I got you" vibes. And then yoonmin complaining about their bug bites. BTS ended their DVD with happy new years wishes and a full bow. I love them all so much. I swear. Thanks for letting me share!

Nods to “Permission to Dance”

In the first VCR, Jung Kook holds a “WE DON’T NEED PERMISSION” sign. In the second one, the boys find a card with “CODE NAME : PTD” on it; the lyrics are also written on the wall.

Lastly, in the fourth VCR, BTS goes to PTD general store. Then, the confrontation with the silent crowd is basically a reenactment of the MV: there’s the balloon, the choreography, and the cameo of Goya, the son of Lumpens’ director (who probably directed the VCR too).

Nods to “Butter”

In the opening VCR, the boys stand in front of a height chart like in the MV and in the second concept photo of the Butter album. They also have mugshots but the numbers are different this time:

In the teaser, RM puts his lollipop in a glass, like at the beginning of “RUN” MV.

The first VCR happens in an interrogation room, reminding of “Mic Drop” MV. Excepted that instead of being surrounded by mics, they’re handcuffed.

In the third VCR, SUGA presses a button that provokes colorful explosions identical to the ones in Dynamite” MV.

The second and third VCR are the development of the teaser. RM, V, and Jung Kook receive a pizza box with paint powder inside. Jin, SUGA, j-hope and Jimin use it on a neighbor complaining about the noise, making him join them. The colorful explosions happening after SUGA presses the button probably have the same effect. In the fourth VCR, the shop’s facade is covered in paint and “Ink refill” is written on the window. Thus the paint/colors seem like a metaphor for the boys’ joy and freedom (as in, they don’t need permission to have fun).

The last VCR is a summary of BTS’ speech and performance of “Permission to Dance” at the UN.
