do you have any tips on learning how to pace yourself? i just learned i was disabled last year and its been a hard adjustment. im constantly feeling like my body is failing me, but i think in some ways im also failing it by not paying attention & being more gentle.
Finding out your disabled is a really hard adjustment to make, And Learning to listen to your body and being gentle with yourself is a really good skill to learn If you can.
Learning to pace is really hard (Or at least I found it really hard),But so worth it. To get it right I needed to completely let go of able-bodied assumptions about what rest and activity look like., finally admit to myself that I'm not capable of anything I put my mind to, and learn to be okay with that as far as possible. It hasn't been a short process for me, But it has been one that has improved my life tremendously
I think the single biggest thing that's helped me is to not expect myself to function on the level of able bodied people. My 16 hour work week is as tiring and time-consuming for me as a non-disabled persons 40 hour work week. My non-disabled friends ideas of " taking it easy" look from the outside the same as the days I consider a big day out. I've come to learn that's not a failure on my part, and that it's not just allowed but also essential for me to rest after activities other people would find restful. If you find something hard and tiring then it's okay to rest regardless of how tiring you think the activity "should" Be.
When it comes to listening to my body, that's a skill I’ve developed overtime. I started from a place of only recognising I was tired when I was already burnt out and making myself ill, where I only stopped when my body forced me to. I had to learn what signs of being tired my body gives me before reaching crisis point. For me that looks like Small increases in pain, a subtle feeling of heaviness, and things just becoming a little bit more tricky than they were before.
I also try and schedule at least one day a week specifically for resting. And more if I'm doing something big. Making rest part of my routine has really helped me to avoid crashing as often as I used to. Mentally I can find it difficult and understimulating, especially when I want to be out and about doing things, but it's gotten easier with time and practice and I now have a wide variety of low Energy activities I can do in bed to keep me occupied, from watching the patterns of a starlight projector, to watching TV or listening to audiobooks.
if anyone else has any tips, I would be really interested in hearing them too

Why do m/f ships are often regarded as boring and plain in comparison to m/m and f/f ships?
I think it's a combination of things:
1) Over-saturation. M/F romances have been the bread and butter of mainstream media for literally thousands of years. (Although the world's first known work of literature was pretty gay, so there's that lol!) Anyway, because of this, it's easy for M/F stories to repeat old plots, or for audiences to feel as if "there are no new stories to tell." After consuming M/F romance media for a while, people can start to feel like "I've seen this before." When the market is saturated, it becomes harder to find new twists on old tropes, fresh voices, etc., and there's no longer as much sensation of mystery or the unexpected--if you see a hot main female character and a hot main male character in a movie, chances are they're guaranteed to get together. When things become "given" in media, the stakes vanish, and it's much harder to generate interest from readers or viewers. ("This ship is going to be endgame anyway, so why bother worrying about whether they'll get together?")
Conversely, when the romance is M/M or F/F, it still has an element of "newness." Perhaps we haven't seen this particular romantic comedy plot with a queer couple before. Maybe adding the extra element of societal response to being gay changes up how an old trope will play out. Because queer romances haven't been grafted on to seemingly every possible trope and scenario in media (yet), there's still chances for surprises and intrigue. Basically, M/M and F/F have the benefit of newness.
I think it's worth pointing out, though, that this will likely not last. An inevitable side effect of queer romances becoming normalized in mainstream media is that, over time, all those tropes and cliched plots will get played out with both M/M and F/F ships, and we'll one day reach over-saturation on queer romances as well, making many of them feel just as bland as the stock of M/F romances in media too.
2) A lot of M/F writing is just really bad. I've discussed at length many reasons why M/F romances tend to be more poorly written in a lot of mainstream media, and the many reasons are too varied to go over again (misogyny, inexperienced male writers, sexual fixation on the other gender resulting in objectification, etc. etc.), but I think it's key to remember that a lot of stories which contain romantic plots weren't actually intended to be romances at all. They just have a romance because society treats romance as obligatory. Writing a horror story? Wait, you mean the hot male protagonist and the hot female protagonist aren't going to bond over their life-threatening situations and end up together? Writing a movie about the horrific tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic? What do you mean it won't center around a forbidden romance between people of different economic classes? Your high fantasy epic doesn't have a princess for your knight to save?! Huh?
The problem is that a lot of people who can write well in one genre cannot write well in other genres. You can have the best horror writer in history... and that person may be completely incapable of writing a romantic plotline to save their life. You can have the most accurate historical political intrigue researcher ever--and then that person has zero experience trying to build effective romantic tension. Unlike other genres which don't have to cross over with each other--your crime drama doesn't have to become a historical drama; your YA fantasy novel doesn't have to become a comedy--writers of practically every genre are expected to be able to throw romance plots into their works and sell them.
When romance is so ubiquitous, it's inevitable that a lot of it is going to be written by people who aren't skilled at writing it, and thus a whole lot of it is going to just be kind of poorly written.
Conversely, we're still at a moment in time when queer romances are regarded as somewhat controversial in mainstream media. It's growing less so over time, but we're still at the point where, if there's a queer romance in a piece of mainstream media, it's because the authors really wanted to put it there. It's not there because of a sense of obligation or viewer expectations, but because someone producing that work really wanted to tell a queer romance story. When you're adding a romance plotline because you really want to write a romance, that plot is (usually) better simply because that plot is more important to the writers.
Furthermore, because queer romance plots are still scrutinized much, much more than M/F romances by editing boards, shareholders, etc., it is likely that these stories are held to a higher writing standard that M/F romances currently. They will be subject to greater editing and require greater "justification" in order to sell decision-makers on the necessity of including the pair. Therefore, across the board, queer romances in mainstream media are likely to receive more of the writers' time and effort than M/F romances.
Once again though, this is a product of media's current situation and not something that will last. Give it a few more years in an LGBT+ friendly administration and M/M and F/F romance plots in shows, books, etc. will become normalized to the point that including one won't be remotely controversial. The level of scrutiny and focus on such ships will fall, and eventually they'll become just about as obligatory as M/F ships, complete with the matching drop in quality. 😂

...but what happened to Elliot's sister?
When her brother didn't pick her up from school, her teachers brought her to the local Temple of Emry, just like [REDACTED] guessed they would.
The priests there are already familiar with the two, as [REDACTED] and his sister often visited for the free meals when money was tight. (You can check out my Religious Lore post for more information about Emry temples)
When it becomes clear that [REDACTED] is missing and not just late, they send out search parties.
Nothing ever comes of it.

hihi ! can you do something with huening kai and a gn or male reader ? and could kai be a softdom ? :3 thank smsm
kai as a soft dom 𝜗𝜚
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
soft dom kai! loves to praise you as you take his cock. "you're doing so good baby, just like that." he said guiding you along his length. you’re his baby and he’s gonna let you know you’re doing a good job.
soft dom kai! who coaches you through your orgasm. “there we go baby, that’s it let it out, just like that.” the cute facial expressions you make drive him crazy. he’s hard again, can you blame him? you’re just too cute.
soft dom kai! wants to cum with you, so he’s praising you and encouraging one more. “come on, one more for me,” he’s running his hands up your thighs. all you could do was nod in agreement, too fucked out to form words.
soft dom kai! never fails to tell you how proud of you he is, and tell you how much he loves you. “you did so well baby, so well,” he kissed you deeply. “i love you so fucking much.” he finishes inside you with more i love yous falling from his lips.
soft dom kai! is the best with aftercare. cleans you up, runs a bath, gets water and snacks. while you soak in the tub he changes the sheets. “gotta make sure my baby’s all good and comfortable in clean sheets,” he towels your body off leaving kisses everywhere his lips can touch.
soft dom kai! holds you in his arms whispering praises until you fall asleep. “my baby, always so good for me,” he softly kissed your hairline. “i love you,” more praises left his lips until he eventually fell asleep holding you tightly in his arms.

Hey, Vod'ika!! I'm in an Echo mood lately.
What about a fic where the reader has been with the batch since before the Empire and the reader and Echo got together round about the time of Order 66. The reader decides to join Rex's rebellion which Echo doesn't mind in fact he loves seeing you everyday. But after taking down Tantiss, Echo notices how you talk to the batch and how you just seem to fit in well on Pabu, so Echo gets an overbearing feeling that he's holding you back from an ordinary life so you have to reassure him that your home is wherever he is. ❤
Wouldn't Change A Thing
Summary: You’re always happy to get to visit your boys, and spending a week on Pabu is always a treat, but when you return to the fight with Echo after this most recent visit, he’s quieter and more withdrawn. And you’re worried.
Pairing: TBB Echo x F!Reader
Word Count: 1117
Warnings: None
A/N: This fic is soft, though I'm setting it in a perfect TBB AU where Tech is still alive. Because I'm a writer and I'm allowed to delude myself like that. (Though, he's actually not mentioned in this story). Anyway, I hope you like it!

You stretch your arms over your head with a groan as you step out of the fresher and into the suite you share with Echo. As much as you love visiting Pabu, and seeing your boys, sometimes you feel like you need a vacation to recover from your vacation.
Honestly, Hunter can be so exhausting sometimes. And that’s even with him mellowing out since Omega came into his life.
You’re so glad you’re not their handler anymore.
You stretch a little more and grimace when the sunburn on your shoulders pulls uncomfortably. It’s fine, you’ll have Echo put aloe on your back before bed.
Speaking of said man—
Your gaze sweeps across the room. He’s not sitting on the couch, and the bedroom door is propped open, so you can see that he’s not in there either. Then you hear the familiar sound of dishes clinking together, so you turn and poke your head into the kitchen.
Echo’s back is to you, but you’d be surprised if he didn’t know that you were there. For a moment, you watch the muscles ripple across his back, and a tiny smile lifts your lips as you lean your head against the door frame.
Maker, you love him so much.
Echo pauses, and turns his head slightly, “You’re staring.”
“Mm, yeah,” You say through an adoring sigh.
He rolls his eyes and flings a damp washcloth at you. It smacks your chest and falls into your hand, “I’m hardly worth staring at.”
“Agree to disagree, my darling~”
“Cyare.”
“My beloved.” You continue with a grin as you cross the room to stand next to him, “My only. My—” Your words become muffled when he presses his hand over your mouth.
“Hush, you.”
There’s color high on his cheeks, and you giggle in delight. Something softens on his face at the sound of your giggle and he moves his hand from your mouth just enough that he’s able to caress your jaw.
“You’ve got a sunburn,” Echo notes as he lightly brushes his scomp across the burn on the back of your neck and upper shoulders.
“Yeah, I’ll need you to help me with some aloe later,” You reply absently as you rub your cheek against the palm of his hand, “If you don’t mind.”
“Oh no, the love of my life wants me to massage lotion into her skin. Whatever shall I do?” He counters, deadpan.
“How is it that you become more sarcastic after spending time with the boys?” You marvel.
“It’s a defense mechanism for having to deal with little brothers.”
You laugh and reach up to cup his face, “Well, I like it when you’re sarcastic.”
“Only because it means that you can be sarcastic right back at me,” He teases with a tiny smile, though the smile fades as he scans your face.
“Echo? What’s wrong?” You ask him, with a tilt of your head.
“You looked pretty happy on Pabu.” He murmurs.
“I mean, sure. Who’s not going to be happy to be able to lie on a beach with a fruity drink?”
“You seem to fit in well there,” Echo continues, “And the others were so happy to see you. And you were happy to see them.”
“Honestly, I’m not convinced that they’re able to survive without me,” You whisper up to him like you’re sharing a secret. “I think Crosshair lost weight, can you believe that!?”
“Cyare,” The affectionate pet name is murmured through a sigh, and you drop your hands from his cheeks, so you’re able to wrap your arms around his neck.
“What’s wrong, Echo? Talk to me.”
“I love that you’re here. I love waking up and seeing you every day.” Echo says slowly, “But, cyare, if you’d be happier on Pabu. I can take you back. You don’t have to stay here.”
You blink at him, struck mute by his words.
Slowly your arms drop from around his neck and you take half a step back, you can’t think when you’re wrapped around him like that. “Echo,” You speak slowly, “Do you want me to leave?”
Echo draws you back into his arms. Unlike you, he thinks more clearly when you’re in his arms. “Never. I want you here, in my arms, all of the time.” He presses his nose into your hair, his voice soft right by your ear, “But if you’re not happy here, then I’ll let you go in a heartbeat.”
Well, that’s what it is to love someone, isn’t it? If you love them, really and truly love them, you’ll want them happy. Even if it means that they’re not with you.
A soft sigh falls from your lips and you turn your head slightly so you’re able to kiss the side of his head, “Have I ever implied that I’m not happy here?” You ask.
“No, but I know you. You’d downplay a fatal injury if you worried it was going to be an inconvenience.” Echo replies.
You wrap your arms tightly around him again, “Then allow me to be blunt,” You trail light fingers across his skin, tracing the scars that show you that your love is a survivor, “Yes, I like Pabu. And yes, I like seeing my boys.”
He tenses slightly, his arms tightening.
“But, Echo, I am happier on Pabu when you are there. And I am happier spending time with the boys when you are with me.” He pulls back slightly, so he’s able to look you in the eye, and you continue with a small smile, “My place, Echo, is wherever you are. Be it here, or Pabu, or a moisture farm on Tatooine.”
“Cyar’ika—”
“And I wouldn’t change a single thing.” You pause, “Well, maybe I’d change the whole rise of the Empire thing, but that’s the only thing I’d change!” You inch closer to him so that you’re pressed flush against his body, “I love you, Echo. And I will stay here, with you, until you get tired of me.”
“It’ll never happen.” Echo replies as he bumps his forehead against yours.
“Are you sure? I can be really annoying.”
“The most aggravating woman I’ve ever met,” Echo agrees, his hand coming up to cradle the back of your head, “But I wouldn’t change you for all of the credits in the galaxy.”
“Good.”
Any further conversation is unnecessary, as Echo’s lips catch yours in a deep kiss and he starts walking you back towards the bedroom. “I should get the aloe,” He murmurs against your lips, “Something something good boyfriend.”
“You just want to be a pervert,” You accuse.
“Those aren’t mutually exclusive.” He laughs against your jaw, as he kicks the bedroom door shut.

I’m being sincere when I ask this—why is there this blame placed on straight women for the lack of lesbian content and for the popularity of gay male ships? If straight women were truly the cause of this, wouldn’t we see more popular straight ships or Y/N straight ships than gay male ships? Blaming straight women for the lack of lesbian content doesn’t make sense and is, in my opinion, one of the most unfair accusations.
No one is "blaming" anyone for anything. I'm drawing a basic, very logical conclusion. If you're reading "blame" into my post, that may be you being defensive about the topic and bringing personal baggage to this discussion.
It's just a basic fact that people write romantic/shipping fics about things that they're romantically and sexually attracted to. Straight women are attracted to men. They like to write about men. They like to write about men sleeping with other men because dude on dude is hot to straight women the same way girl on girl is hot to straight dudes. I'm not judging; it is what it is! People are allowed to find things sexy!
There are many factors why straight ships are less prevalent than mlm ships (not the least of which is no motivation for female writers to do the work of fleshing out poorly written female characters because they have no sexual fascinations with those women), but I assure you, "I want to see even more men in the fics I read" is a massive factor driving the popularity of mlm ships above straight ships. As a female reader, you have no competition for sexual access to the men if there are no relevant women in the fic! (Obviously, the topic of shipping dynamics is quite complex, but I already wrote a literal academic essay on it; I won't repeat myself.)
I'd argue that there are, in fact, tons of straight YN/reader insert fic writers, but they're written on very diffused platforms, less frequently considered complete and "published" works, and often use unique or personalized tags, and so are generally never included in "ship of the year" calculations like the original post.
None of this is "blame." It's just a statement of fact. If you're a straight female writer, you're going to be significantly less inclined to write a wlw ship because you're just not romantically or sexually attracted to other women. That's not rocket science, nor am I even implying it's a bad thing that straight fanfic writers should be ashamed of. There's just fewer popular lesbian ships in fanfics because the bulk of fics are written by straight women, and straight women simply aren't sexually attracted to other women. There's way more mlm fics because straight women are definitely attracted to men. That's it.
Literally, my original post ended by noting that the solution to the problem is for more original creators to create stories or canon ships that invite lesbians into their fandoms, not demanding straight writers somehow change their interests and start writing only wlw fics...
But somehow, now we have straight people being victims? 😂

Could you explain more about the gods and religion in your Ambrose & Elliot universe? :0 it seems interesting!
Oh buckle up anon cause you asked for LORE and I have SO MUCH
General Beliefs
There are six gods, and in order of most to least popular they go:
Emry, Mael and Maer, Cato, Kiah, Janus
The gods are usually seen as positive figures (except Janus and Kiah, who most people distrust and don't like at minimum), but not necessarily moral ones. There's no 'sinning' really, but if you cause harm or destroy 'sacred' things, people will judge you.
Atheism doesn't exist in this world, because the gods are just... around. It's not uncommon to see Cato in a large library, browsing books. Sometimes Maer is in the audience of a musical. And so on.
The concept of an afterlife is distinct from the gods, although it's generally understood that gods can visit the dead if they wish. Most people believe that souls do exist, and that there is a personal paradise for each soul after they die.
___________________
Temples
'Temple' is a very broad term in this universe. Most temples' primary function isn't worship at all. The vast majority of temples are community supports. All of them do some form of charity, especially in rural areas.
Temples have two universal rules: they are open to all, and you cannot cause conflict inside one.
Temples are open to the public from sunup to sundown, with few exceptions (Cato temples are open 24/7). They’re free to enter, and you can stay overnight in many of them, also for no charge. Priests also make and offer free meals to the hungry, no questions asked.
Generally, these services are only used if you need them, but there isn’t any gatekeeping to determine if you do.
Every god has their own distinctive style of temple. For example, a temple to Cato is very different to a Kiah temple.
___________________
Priests
Priests dedicate their lives or most of their time to serving the ideals of their chosen god. Many live at their local temples. Their jobs usually focus on community service.
All priests must be educated about their specific god, and some even know them personally. It also helps if you know how your god feels about the other gods.
Becoming a priest varies from god-to-god. Cato’s priesthood is often tied to your job or level of education. Anyone with a degree can be a priest to Cato, and librarians often are.
A priest of Emry needs no qualifications, but if you are in a temple that doubles as an orphanage, you must be vetted.
Mael and Maer also have no barrier to entry, but keep in mind that artists often come to temples for advice on their pieces.
Kiah has no barrier.
Janus, by his nature, doesn’t question the origins of his priests. However, he does judge you by your works and actions as a priest. He keeps the closest eye on them, and desires them to be compassionate. They also take vows not to reveal personal information about anyone who visits the temple, as many of their residents or guests don’t want to be found.
Note: In the Kitty Elliot AU, Catfolk are considered holy and often live at temples, cared for by priests. Janus’s temples are a favorite among them.
___________________
Meet the Gods
Emry
Emry is the god of harvests, and a patron of orphans. He's most often worshiped by farmers and ranchers, and most people hold him in high regard. He's depicted as kind and generous, and he loves all creatures.
Sometimes he's connected to death, but specifically a painless, merciful end. After all, a god of harvests must slaughter the cows at some point.
Emry's temples are typically the smallest of the gods. They're usually larger houses that double as orphanages, and they focus on comfort over worship. A typical Emry temple has one offering box on the outside for donations and a modest wooden altar on the inside for small offerings.
A usual offering might be some strands of wheat, or maybe an apple, or perhaps some wool. Offerings typically come after harvests as a thank you.
Most farmers' homes have a shrine to Emry.
Mael
Mael is the god of visual art. He's the twin to Maer, and occasionally temples are dedicated to the both of them.
Mael's worshipers are far and wide, and most artists and creatives pray to him and his brother for inspiration or to bless their talents.
Mael's temples are usually grand and beautiful. Murals line the walls, and some temples paint over and make new ones every year. Beauty is more important than practicality in these temples. The most gorgeous ones are often tourist spots.
A typical offering includes a child's drawing, or maybe a tube of paint, or a poem. Offerings usually are a bid for attention, or asking for blessings on a future project.
All art schools are dedicated to Mael and Maer, and shrines to them are very common in artists' homes.
Maer
Maer is the god of performance art. Theater, music, and statues all fall into his domain (although Mael disagrees about statues).
Maer is also said to be the god of love and lust, and some think of him as Mael's "dirtier" counterpart.
In reality, Mael and Maer collaborate more than they squabble. Neither god can really separate their domains out as cleanly as the other gods can.
Note: in the kitty Elliot AU, Catfolk are one of these collaborative pieces between the two.
Maer's temples are usually also working theaters and auditoriums. Attending or working a performance is the same as worshiping him, and he's less concerned about image than his brother.
Because of his connection to theater, he's also a god of good luck.
A typical offering isn't physical. Dedicate anything to him, and he'll remember. Although, he does cherish children's clay figures.
Cato
Cato is the god of knowledge and discovery, and is a patron of scholars and scientists.
He doesn't care much for worship, and is more curious about what his scholars are working on. He's the most commonly seen god, wandering the earth with no thought to disguising himself.
Cato's temples are libraries first, and places of worship second. Open at all hours, they're a blessing to people who just need an answer at two am.
Students hold Cato in high regards, and often you can hear a flustered student muttering prayers on their way to a calculus exam.
Kiah
Kiah is one of the two... unpopular gods. His domain includes fear and new beginnings.
However, it’s important to know that Kiah is not the god of inflicting fear, and is a highly anxious person himself. More accurately, he’s the god of being afraid. Still, that doesn’t net him much positive attention.
Kiah is fairly shy, and is slow to act. However, righteous anger is a common theme in stories about Kiah. His most positive depictions are about bravery, i.e overcoming fear.
He is good friends with the other gods, but he often clashes with Janus. They have different worldviews, and their natures cause friction between them. But in rare collaborations, Janus and Kiah create war and justice.
Kiah temples are few and far between, and are quiet spaces with comfortable furniture and darker colors. If you suffer anxiety or migraines, a Kiah temple is a nice place to be.
Janus
Janus is the god of lies and secrets. Understandably, this makes most people wary of him and his priests.
But just like Kiah, there is more to Janus than is generally understood. To be more accurate, Janus is a protector god who chooses deception as the method.
Janus is a patron of the abused, specifically runaways. His temples take privacy very seriously, and you will be tossed out for disturbing residents.
His temples are also large and grand, and usually appear only in big cities.
Note: If a Janus temple is unavailable to a runaway, the next best is Kiah or Emry, although any temple will help.
Janus appreciates the finer things in life, and his temples often reflect that. High ceilings, lots of light and tall windows, nooks and crannies for privacy, rooms hidden behind tapestries, beautiful courtyards. All of these you might find at a Janus temple, but he loves and appreciates simple shrines just as much as his spectacular temples.
Politicians are the biggest donors to Janus, for less than savory reasons. The rumor goes that the more money you donate to Janus, the more he will bless you with his ability to flawlessly deceive and your career will flourish.
Janus himself started this rumor, and it never ceases to amuse him that the donated wealth of corruption not only built his temples, but feeds his priests and cares for those who need it.
___________________
The Gods Themselves
The gods are immortal and ageless, though not unchanging. They’ve all cycled through appearances, genders, etc. many times. Sometimes they even pick up and put down minor aspects of their domain.
When not roaming the world, they spend their time in a small dimension they call “the realm”. Mortals can only enter when a god lets them in personally.
As far as they’re aware, Cato and Janus are the oldest of them, followed by Emry, Kiah, and Mael and Maer.
Mael and Maer consider themselves twins, but it’s all pretty unclear.
The gods’ relationships with each other are… complicated. While they’d agree they’re all friends, the intricate parts are hard to define.
Yes, they’ve all had sex with each other at some point. They’ve even paired off into relationships before. Basically any pairing was true at some point, and they’re all very casual about it.
When you live with and deal with the same five other people for all of time, past and present, static relationships aren’t going to exist.
Currently, Janus is in a monogamous relationship with Ambrose, and the others respect that.

So I was creating my own Papyrus is Gaster art... and apparently all roads lead to Forgettable AU so here I am... Not going to like, this was the biggest art project I've ever done. Hope you enjoy it even half as much as I enjoy your AU!
Tumblr media
(Rather long) Side note: I don't know how much Echo flowers play into your own headcanons yet, but they've almost always been quite relevant to my own Papyrus is Gaster and I wanted to incorporate that into the art.
