So I've been thinking... If you were going to explain what an ecovillage is the asterix comics are a great example. They have a mayor, they make decisions democratically, they live in a forest and they only forage what they need, their wise person is the druid that is in tune with nature because he's the druid and then there's the Roman empire representing the rest of the world. Honestly two niches that I never thought would meet in all honesty...

Family builds village of dugout homes into remote SoCal hill

this place is absolutely breathtaking. this family started building in the 50s. there's so much stained glass & tile mosaic in every building. even the doors are hand built. excellent example of the kind of pod style village design of a homestead that we're really into. incredible bathrooms.

Permaculture Communities - Design Tips and Ideas

Delicious fruit grown in the northern pacific northwest at a small intentional community I used to live at. We get free fruit from them every year and they always have so much surplus.

This 1 acre property is essentially a giant food forest with tiny homes built almost entirely from reclaimed building materials. Rent is very cheap and people living here grow a lot of their own food for part of the year, share basic supplies and coordinate child care.

Local zoning laws make this kind of thing illegal in most of the surrounding areas, but I believe that these types of properties are necessary for the future of housing, food security, and ecological stability.
