Have they heard of, I don't know, Norway or even Southern Argentina. Didn't they read Dracula, where the main vampire has the right idea of going to the UK, a country known for being cloudy and darkish. Why Dubai. Donate to victims of Brazil floods from abroad

Brazil’s southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul, a state the size of Ecuador, has been devastated by historic floods, with most of its 497 municipalities in a state of public calamity. Authorities have described the crisis as “war-like” and consider it the state’s worst crisis caused by natural disasters ever.

Roughly 200,000 people were forced out of their homes, according to state officials. The death toll, which has been growing fast, is inching closer to the mark of 100 — and there are still more than 130 people missing.

A series of public and private initiatives are collecting donations in order to mitigate the devastating effects of the crisis. Post offices in the states of São Paulo and Paraná, as well as some in Rio Grande do Sul, for example, offered to collect and transport donations free of charge.

Rising Sun. Geneticized at .04.

Ecuador. Geneticized at .80. These were the most tricky to match the body to the face of, simply because of how cool toned these skins are. I'm decently happy with how they turned out (otherwise I wouldn't post them), but if I ever edit any of these skins again, these are the ones I might adjust.

Soft Gold. Geneticized at .10.

Palm. Geneticized at .20. I didn't get a picture of a sim the skin named "Sebastian" (even though it's my favorite of this set), but I promise it's there!

Check out my previous post for a preview of the fitness states. The female fit state is more lean than muscular. That might not be some people's cup of tea, but I like it as it reminds me of the athletic women I know IRL.

Ecuadorian police stormed the Mexican embassy in Ecuador’s capital Quito on Friday night to arrest the former vice president, who is seeking asylum there, an escalation of tensions that Mexico decried as “an outrage against international law.”[...]

A rift between the two Latin American countries had been growing since Mexico’s decision to grant political asylum to Glas, vice president under leftist ex-President Rafael Correa between 2013 and 2017.

Convicted twice on corruption charges, Glas says he is the subject of political persecution and had been sheltering inside the embassy.

But on Friday, Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, on his official X account, said he had been informed that “police from Ecuador forcibly entered” the Mexican embassy and took Glas – who “was a refugee and processing asylum because of the persecution and harassment he faces.”[...]

Mexico plans to lodge a complaint with the International Court of Justice to denounce the Ecuadorian police’s actions, the spokesperson for Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs added.[...]

Adding to current tensions was Lopez Obrador’s apparent criticism of Ecuador’s recent elections, saying the 2023 run-off vote took place in a “very strange” manner and suggesting that presidential candidates had used the media, presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio’s assassination and overall violence in their favor while campaigning.

The rift resulted in a series of diplomatic provocations this week, that also included Ecuador rejecting Mexico’s ambassador to the country, who was declared “persona non grata.”

The Mets & the Phillies played 2 games in London this weekend as part of some MLB thing to bring baseball to the UK, I don't know, it's never my Cleveland Guardians so I always forget until baseball Twitter starts talking about it. Anyway, the important part for you is that the mascot race in the London Series was Winston Churchill, a London guard, Henry VIII, and Freddie Mercury.

If Freddie Mercury didn't win there is NO JUSTICE IN THE WORLD.

What an amazing mascot race! And fun that the teams are playing overseas even if exporting baseball is something of a losing proposition.

I had no idea Argentina and Ecuador were playing a friendly footie match like....half a mile from my front door on Sunday night. I gotta be better about keeping an eye on these things.
