Been going through Ed and Matthew's podcast again, and I love that despite the stupidity of the show snd how much they mess with each other, if ever Ed starts to genuinely body shame himself, Matthew immediately goes all serious and tells him he looks great 🥹

Ten episodes in to Ed Gamble and Matthew Crosby's radio thing, and really enjoying how quickly they managed to devlove into chaos, from pretty much the second or third ep.
I'm already pretty familiar with Ed and I already knew I liked him a lot, but I hadn't seen or heard much from Matthew and he's kind of adorable??? I love how genuinely disturbed he seems when Ed's telling him about his metal facts etc,
Speaking of, Ed's love of metal continues to delight me at least, if not Matthew, and personally I was really enjoing those segments.
Also loving the sports desk bits, as someone lacking in knowledge of almost any sports, it's fun to hear people who seem to know maybe even less, trying to expain it (The one when Ivo was standing in for Matthew and is trying give actual information while Ed is is being Ed was particularly fun.
I might update this post as I go on, but for now I'll leave it there.

I was rewatching the elisjohncrosbygamble stream during the power cut and I cannot tell you how fucking much I laughed at Matthew Crosby talking about how he tried to shut the door in an attempt to keep the noise away from his wife and kid and instead booted a full toolkit down the stairs oh my god

A compilation: Zaltzman and Oliver telling stories of times they've had 100% walkouts to their shows
This mostly all makes sense. The 100% walkout happened once to John Oliver, at the Pleasance Below (a venue I've now been to - I saw Jin Hao Li there when I went to the Fringe in August 2024, and that is a bit of an ominously echo-y room, to be left standing alone on stage). I think that must have been 2002 or 2003, as those are the only years he did solo shows in Edinburgh (in 2001 he did The Comedy Zone, and by 2004 he was in the double act with Zaltzman).
And another 100% walkout happened once to Zaltzman & Oliver, doing a preview for their 2004 Edinburgh show at The Space in Docklands, on the night that England lost an important football match and the audience only cared about that. They were on after Richard Herring, and the audience wasn't impressed with either act.
When I heard Andy Zaltzman tell that latter story more recently, I thought this must be the same story that John Oliver told on RHLSTP, about Zaltzman & Oliver doing a mixed bill with Richard Herring back in the day, and the audience hated them and almost punched Herring. But I went back today, to make this compilation, and realized they were two different nights. The 100% walkout during a football match was in Docklands. And Zaltzman & Oliver were on after Richard Herring, which we know because Andy said that by the time they went on, the audience had already seen Richard Herring, who was "the first show that night".
While in the other story - the one from John Oliver's RHLSTP episode, they were at the West End Centre in Aldershot. And Zaltzman & Oliver must have gone on before Richard Herring, because Herring said that during his set, he referenced Greek Gods (which were also a common theme of Zaltzman & Oliver - mainly in the Zaltzman material - at the time, so presumably they'd already mentioned Greek Gods), and audience member said "Not another one!" Also, I realized that John Oliver and Richard Herring never actually said they got a 100% walkout that night. Just that it was disastrous and a guy almost punched Herring. They did, however, say it was an Edinburgh preview.
So those are two different gigs. On two separate occasions, Zaltzman & Oliver shared an Edinburgh preview bill with Richard Herring and the audience fucking hated them in a very memorable way (100% walkout, threats of violence). Also on two separate occasions, John Oliver experienced a 100% walkout during a show in the UK - once in his Edinburgh solo show, and once in the double act with Andy. Those are three separate shows. I get it now. And I have this nice little folder of audio clips to keep all the stories straight.
Anyway, that's the sort of thing I like to do with my time. Hope this helps.
