Finally done! this has been sitting on my drafts for who knows how long, wanted to post this a long time ago but I'm glad that i finished it in time
Some time ago I said I had a design for Dark Deity in works, it's not too different and doesn't have so many changes, but I wanted for it to catch that feeling of danger
This is a gift for @breannasfluff and her series Eldritch Adventures! She's a fantastic writer and this series has been one of my favorites, I know she worked hard on it so i wanted to give something that compensates that! I might be able to read the last chapter until night, but before that I want to say that I'm so proud of her for getting this far, she deserves so much love!
To open his eyes is to relive a memory. Water draining away and a lid opening. Staring up at the glowing lights overhead, hazy as he tries to focus. The faint tug of divinity is like a string, stretching away to someone.
He is in the shrine. He knows nothing. He knows everything. He remembers….
He remembers…
Finally, he climbs out of the basin. At least he’s got clothes this time. As opposed to…yet the memory slips away. His slate is on the pedestal, and he picks it up. It’s muscle memory to tap at the screen and summon different clothes.
Then he pauses because…how did he know to do that?
Time is repeating, circling, twisting in a loop. The air calls to him, caresses him. Home, it whispers. Part of us.
Shaking his head, he puts the slate on his belt clip and leaves the room. There’s no voice to guide him, but the sense remains. Get out.
Down an overgrown hall, up some crumbling stairs. A halo of light beckons him on and then—he is outside. He doesn’t linger, just heads for the edge of the overlook.
Hyrule is laid out before him, oh so familiar. He knows this land. Yet he doesn’t know himself.
He stands there for…well, long enough that the sun’s shifted before he turns to make his way down. There’s a multitude of things to explore, starting with the apple trees.
At some point, muscle memory has him taking the slate from his hip and tapping a glowing marker on the map. Then he dissolves into blue light.
Hateno, his mind supplies when he reappears. Unfortunately, it doesn’t give him anything else. Yet the familiarity here is stronger. Even better, the thread of divinity is so close it pulses, nearly visible. He follows it across the bridge and to a house.
The divinity is linked to a girl with blond hair, pulling weeds near the house. Both hands wrap around the stubborn plant and tug. It comes out and she falls back with an oomph. Then she looks up and sees him.
“Link?”
Link. Of course. That’s his name. How could he forget? And this is—is…
“Link? Is something wrong?”
Is it? “Who are you?”
There’s a sharpness to her gaze as she pulls herself up. Brushing her hands on her skirt, she walks over. “Link, what happened? You feel…different.” She reaches out and lays a hand on his arm.
There’s a spark—a connection—and a missing chunk slots into place. “Zelda.”
And not just Zelda, but the Calamity. The shrine. Waking up and fighting and saving the land. Living in Hateno and traveling. Being strange, yet being accepted by the land and its people.
Didn't know what to do for today so mild Eldritch Wild time
Lu-tober day 21
Prompt: Body Horror
List: Goretober
I'm not 100% percent sure what this was supposed to be? Just kinda started drawing, zoned out but not in the good way in the foggy way and now I've got this? IDK, looks cool though so here he is :D
Was trying to think of some passive ways to show the eldritch stuff, wasn't sure what to do without going full out on the body horror (Which I didn't want to do today) so its pretty mild. Did have fun playing with the glowy lights and the colored line art though, wanna try and use that more
There’s a whole group of them. Nine in total; a rarity even after the Calamity. The stable master watches them approach, hunched against the light rain steadily increasing. They have no horses, but the stables offer beds as well.
The dark-tainted aura slithering from the group isn’t a cause for concern. Everyone in Hyrule who comes through the stable is tainted in some way. They’ve all lived too long with Malice in their midst.
No, the surprise is the bright aura radiating off most of them. It burns and snaps at the dusty taint woven into flesh. The stable master shifts, uncomfortable. One of the group fairly radiates it; glowing without lighting the area.
It’s a relief when Link pushes his hood back. He is the source of the taint, somehow wrong even in his home. But Link is kind and helpful. He fights and helps, worries and fiercely protects. The stable master has nothing to worry about with him here. The stable is always safer when he visits.
“Welcome, Link! Beds for your group?”
He nods and holds up nine fingers.
“I don’t have that many beds, but you can split what’s available or take the floor.”
Another nod and he reaches for his wallet.
The stable master holds up a hand. “No need; I’ll put it on your tab.”
Link stares, because he doesn’t have a tab, then shrugs and motions the others inside. They sigh in relief and a low murmur of conversation starts.
The stable master waves Link over and leans across the counter. “I know those boys are traveling with you, but I’m not sure about them. They give off this…feeling. Are you safe?”
Link, who tensed as he talked, relaxes with a smile and a nod. “We’re good, thanks.”
With a final nod, the stable master pulls back. Link seems at ease, but he’ll keep an eye on the group. Just in case.
In Hyrule, it’s best to watch out for each other.
~
Look, Eldritch Wild has friends, they're just in his Hyrule. He may be lonely around the Chain, but there's plenty of people who watch out for him at home <3
Also, anyone born after the Calamity is likely tainted with a slight amount of Malice. It's stronger in the kids as malice increased across Hyrule, so they have an even easier time around Wild.
See you tomorrow for an exciting chapter of Eldritch Wild! 👀
