I do love the idea of piloting a mech being Physical though. I mean, I also enjoy the idea of pilots kinda just, fading away the more time they spend in their mechs, too, but I love the idea of the tactility. I love the idea especially of the contrast between the two. The idea that both exist in the same universe, and have been developed and deployed in different ways - for different purposes maybe, or by different sides. The differences it would make, the strengths and vulnerabilities it would make - the concept that a strategy that works on one, like disabling a mech's computer, wouldn't work on the other: it might be cruder, sure, but if a more manual mech can keep shooting, that's more useful than one that can be hacked from half way across the battle field.

Maybe they pair up, compensating for each other's weaknesses and playing up each other's strengths. Maybe they're facing down on opposite sides of a battlefield. Maybe they aren't combat mechs at all, and the respective strength and precision are employed elsewhere.

On a work trip, at the airport in the security line. Pull out both of my laptops (work and personal) and all my photography equipment, and all the other work equipment, then put them into the bin. Continue on with my baggage in another bin, taking shoes off, etc.

TSA agent sees my perfectly arranged bucket after the 5th person in a row next to me asks if they have to take electronics out of their bag. He holds up my bucket and says, "Everyone should make their buckets look just like this," before turning to me and continuing with, "I like you, you know exactly what to do."

I nod and walk to the body scanner. I hold my arms up as the machine whirs around me and think to myself, "I'm getting a good grade in airport security, which is possible to achieve and normal to want."

There's a noticeable pep in my step for the rest of the walk to my gate while I lament the specific type of brain rot that I must have.

When I worked a Target, I used to have to walk the store with the opening mgr and look for people hiding in the back, or in the clothing racks or in the dressing rooms. It's true that people do poop in the dressing rooms.

I was surprised that my solutions didn't crystallize over the past week to which my thesis supervisor said lightheartedly that it's normal and that he once waited for something to crystallize for THREE YEARS. I hope my solutions know I need to graduate some day.
