So onto the meat of this whole post! (It's 00:24 so sorry for errors lol)

My In The Sky ttte AU! I'll try to keep it short but I tend to go overboard with this sort of thing.

The main gist of it all is that the "engines" aka the Wingmen are a species of almost-people living in the sky above whatever land they would normally reside in in canon, (taking the roles of planes and the like, basically anything that isn't a bird) mainly relying on tourism and cargo traffic for their work.

The banner says "silly queer train people with wings" for a reason! Obviously, almost no one is straight, and they all have wings! There are many different types of wings a Wingman might have:

"Steamies":

Top two pairs of wings: (the humanised versions of) Tank engines, tram engines and narrow/miniature gauge engines

Bottom two pairs of wings: Tender engines

"Diesels" and "electrics":

Fun fact: Diesels can modify their wings! Like Diesel or Diesel 10 here.

As for how things are built up in the sky: they use bricks made of clouds! Okay everything is made of clouds-

Example: a very quick painting I made of a balcony

The clouds are compressed so they're more rigid and durable, which is then used to build stations, houses, roads, which are indeed a thing in the sky, though sometimes they're not compressed as much, these softer clouds being used for furniture and mainly things for children (or clumsy adults and Wingmen).

In general:

The Wingmen are free to go as they please in most of the modern world, except for a few developing countries (and one Central-European hellhole in particular) due to them having wings, thus being able to fly.

The railways are referred to as airlines (North-Western Airlines, Skarloey Airlines, Mid-Sodor Airlines and so on), the Wingmen commonly being called "pilots".

Since the sentient vehicles are all Wingmen, planes aren't that much of a thing, hot air balloons being the norm, at least on the Island of Sodor.

Overall this is just for fun. Hope you enjoy your stay! Also, feel free to ask your favourite Wingmen any questions!

Following up on my thought about Ashlynn being not only the ‘Mom Friend’, but also having to deal with her absolute disasters for friends, I just realized how much funnier it is that both of her friends are like the gayest people ever.

Ashlynn, being a distinguished pansexual, having to deal with these idiots: Apple, Briar, I love you both so, so much, but I am this close to throwing these glass slippers out the window, and you know how much I love my glass slippers.

It’s so funny, because, bless her heart, she’s going to have to deal with, not one, but two horrible realizations.

Imagine Apple, bursting through Ashlynn’s door at 3 am, looking as if a revelation has dawned upon her: Ashlynn, I think I might like girls. I think I might like Darling.

Ashlynn Ella, running on 2 hocus lattes, and who was also present during all of Apple’s gay panics and when Darling woke her up: Oh, you don’t say?

Also, like, Briar realizing she might be in love with the VILLAIN of her destiny.

Briar, jumping into the room through the window: Holy fuck, Ash, I think I might like Faybelle.

Ashlynn, who has seen these idiots flirt for years, and who has heard Briar not only babble about how pretty Faybelle is endlessly, but has also had the Epic Winter dream recounted to her several times: Well, this is certainly unexpected.

Raven Queen: Sometimes talks to her mother, The Evil Queen, in the mirror even though she can’t reply back

Briar Beauty: Always brings neck pillows when she goes, since she’ll probably fall asleep while sitting down

Ashlynn Ella: Brings natural scents to make the icky stank of the toilet better(I believe eah doesn’t have a clean toilet unless Apple takes charge, since I can’t seem to find janitors)

so here's my thinking. in my head the timeline goes a lil something like this:

ella teach and captain shadowbeard have a baby boy with a name that i've unfortunately forgotten

the boy joins ella and shadowbeard on their pirate ship until a storm hits and the boy is dragged into the sea, and is presumed dead

shadowbeard starts going a lil silly (in a bad way) and ella doesn't want to risk the safety of their newborn baby oliver

she settles down in canella and shadowbeard keeps pirating

unbeknownst to them, their boy washes ashore and is found by captain rose's fiancé, and she takes him in because she's the sweetest soul that ever lived

they stay like that for a while, she gets pregnant and sends a photo to rose of her and little reuben (who, in the trauma and danger of his near death, forgot where he came from) promising rose a family when he retires

rose has a boy on his ship around reuben's age, which he finds a little funny. he knows that shadowbeard lost a son recently but either doesn't connect the dots or chooses to not say anything

he plans to retire (?) but then the events of the hole in the sea happens

flash forward a short while, reuben is on the streets for whatever reason and finds a boy who seems to know reuben's would-be adopted father. they grow close as brothers

in the background shadowbeard is still committed to piracy, and a young girl named lizzie joins his crew

years pass, lizzie rises the ranks, falls in love, then loses her love and her captain in the space of one day. she begins a new crew with caspian

back to reuben and chip, chip realises the things he does with reuben's gang are wrong and betrays reuben's trust, running away to become his own person

and thus begins the riptide campaign
