I meant to post this MUCH earlier this month for your birthday! But at least it's still March!!!!! And this prompt kind of fits!
Neta and Alarik belong to @patricia-von-arundel.
"Is it Too Soon to do This?"
Rating: K+
“Uncle Alarik, you’re being silly!”
“I am not! This book is silly!”
“Aunt Elsa! Tell Uncle Alarik he’s being silly!”
Alarik looked up to see Elsa standing in the hospital doorway, her face wan. She hid it with a smile- Alarik hoped Neta hadn't noticed.
“I thought Uncle Alarik was always silly?”
“Hey! This book has a honeybee that doesn't know what a flower is! How am I the silly one?”
Neta giggled and swatted at his arm as Elsa came to her other side and sat down. While Neta was focused on Alarik, he saw Elsa's smile slip, replaced with a strained look.
“Sven! Get back here!”
“Aunt Elsa, when am I getting my cast? I want to go home.”
Elsa couldn't smile when Neta turned to her.
“Aunt Elsa?”
They were interrupted by the arrival of Anna and Kristoff, both of whom looked stricken. Elsa and Alarik immediately gave up their positions by the bed, and the two of them sat down with twin sighs. Elsa went to Alarik's side, and he wrapped an arm around her, feeling her shake.
Neta ran to the edge of the porch steps, giggling as she chased after the black-and-tan basset hound as he bounded away, one of her mittens in his mouth.
“Mama, what's going on? Why can't I go home?”
Anna pushes Neta's bangs out of her face, deliberately looking away from the girl's outstretched arm wrapped in a bulky splint.
“The doctor said you'll need more than a cast, Neta. They're going to help you go to sleep and… they have to put some special wires in your arm to help your bone heal.”
Surgery.
Neta has to have surgery.
She dashed forward as Sven hopped down the steps, and Alarik watched in horrifying slow motion as her foot slipped on a slick patch they'd missed while shoveling.
A nurse enters the room, carrying a clipboard with several forms, talking to Anna and Kristoff about the surgery. It feels unreal, as if he's watching a TV show, until Anna takes the forms and begins signing them, one hand kept on Neta's shoulder.
He reached out, trying to catch hold of her before disaster struck, but he was too slow. His fingers grazed the fabric of her jacket before she fell away from him.
“Alarik.”
He blinks, realizes Elsa's tugging on his hand, and follows her out into the hallway.
“Let it out.”
He looks at her, shakes his head. “No, I'm fine. I don't…”
“Alarik.” Elsa's tone is as gentle as the hand she places on his cheek. “Please don't do that to yourself. It's okay.”
The dam breaks, and he sinks to ground, letting the tears fall. A pair of arms wrap around him, and he buries his head in Elsa's shoulder. She strokes his hair and hums a wordless tune.
“I should have… should have…”
“Alarik, we were all there. It was an accident. Neta tripped.”
“But I was right there! I could have grabbed her!”
Neta fell forward, missing the steps and landing on the unforgiving pavement on her left side, elbow out. Her scream echoed in his mind.
Hands press down on his shoulders, and he looks up to see Anna. She has tears in her eyes as well, and he drops his gaze.
“Alarik, it wasn't your fault. Accidents happen, okay? Now, Neta's asking for you.”
He nods, and Anna hands him a tissue. When they stand, she startles him with a hug that knocks the breath out of him. After a moment, he returns the hug.
When they return to the room, Neta holds her good arm out to him, and he leans in for a hug.
“Uncle Alarik? I'm going to be okay.”
“Of course you are, Neta! It'll be over before you know it, alright?”
She grabs his hand. “I'm going to be okay, Uncle Alarik. Please don't be sad.”
He squeezes her hand, his throat tight. “You're right. I'm just sad because you're hurt.”
“But I'll get better!”
He nods, seeing a team of medical staff come in. “Okay. You will. Thank you Neta.”
He steps out, letting the staff prep Neta for surgery, and when Elsa holds out her arms to him, he steps into her embrace gratefully.
Neta will be okay.
And maybe, eventually, he'll allow himself to be forgiven.
……
It's been an exhausting day, but they're home.
And Elsa doesn't want to tear her eyes from the scene in front of her.
Neta lays on her side, her purple-casted arm resting on Sven, curled up next to her. Her head rests on Alarik's lap. After dinner, she'd insisted on laying next to him, stating that he still looked sad. Even at seven, she picks up on emotion quickly.
Alarik strokes her hair, looking less haggard. Elsa knows it will take some time for him to accept his lack of fault in the accident, but Neta's trust in him will help.
Save for the TV, set to low volume, the room is quiet. That is, until Neta speaks up.
“Aunt Elsa? In the hospital, which baby were you talking about?”
Anna and Kristoff had been summoned for another round of paperwork, leaving Elsa and Alarik to wait with Neta, who appeared to be dozing in her warming gown. Elsa could see the worry on Alarik's face as he watched Neta. She squeezed his hand and bumped his shoulder with hers.
“Remember, stress is bad for the baby…”
That, at least, prompted a small smile.
“I thought you were asleep…” Elsa whispers.
“I wasn't!” Neta says brightly.
“Elsa, what. baby?” Anna stares at her intently.
Although she was certain her sister had already figured it out, Elsa speaks anyway. “Alarik and I were planning on telling you earlier, but we didn't want to bring it up after everything that happened.”
“I'm pregnant.”

Review for Trish’s Dream Fic
Trish ( @couragedontdesertme  ) said she’d write an epilogue of the elsarik dream Fic if I made a Formal Review of the elsarik dream fic. So here we are.
Please note review should be taken VERY LIGHTLY this is more or less me re-reading the Fic and loudly yelling about things with too many exclamation points. Enjoy Trish.
Ch1
First of all imagine my fucking surprise I didn’t even know you had gotten work done on the dream fic???? Here I was thinking the link you sent me was the next chapter of city of ice and then I click on it and it saYS DREAM FIC???? E X C U S E M E oh my goodness
The first section is just so entirely domestic and beautiful and you can tell how lived in and content they are in their life as roommates. ALARIK (listen my phone autocorrects ALARIK to be in all caps and I’m too lazy to fix it so y’all are gonna have to deal with reading ALARIK’s name as if I’m yelling it every time I type it) anyway ALARIK just bringing her the chocolate croissants she loves so dearly and Elsa curling up with a book and him fretting and worrying over her being there alone all day and later... it’s just SO DOMESTIC. it’s such a small short moment but it’s so domestic and a perfect opposite of the PAIN THAT HAPPENS AFTER!!! And we al know I LOVE READING PAIN
The fact that ALARIK was only home late because he was doing tutoring to earn more money to by Elsa A PRESENT????? Shut up no one speak to me that’s true love but also PAINFUL the guilt he must feel oh my god
Elsa...stops struggling... because she doesn’t want ,,,, ALARIK ,,,, to get hurt. Because she cares for his safety more than her own because he has protected her and he is her friend and she loves him I am going to SCREAM
The fact that you use the phrase ~marching her out of the warmth of the room~ when she just used her magic to like cover the walls in frost makes my Heart burst cause idk if it was intentional or not but I just love the thought that this room has become Home to her it’s become safe and beautiful and lovely and WARM because it is full of love and friendship and companionship rather than the cold loneliness of say her ice palace of her locked room as a child. I like to think Elsa could have covered the room entirely in ice and snow and frost and it would still feel warm to her because of the love that’s developed there thank you for coming to my tedtalk
Ugh fuck hans
I have literally no words other than fuck hans for any section with hans in it I DONT even want to RECOGNIZE THAT HE EXISTS !!! Making Elsa feel like she’s nothing I am going to punch him in the eye
~ALARIK weeps over smushed chocolate croissant. End scene~
I know that it’s such a heartbreaking sad ending for that first chapter but also I really can’t stop laughing about him crying over a stepped on croissant since I know that your like planning note for that last scene was literally just some variant of ALARIK cried over a smushed croissant and that’s just such a funny IMAGE TO ME EVEN THOUGH ITS SAD
I just like to imagine ALARIK cradling the chocolate croissant in his arms like a bébé as he sobs
Ch2
I’m fucking S A D
ALARIK having like NO MONEY and just thinking about that the money he has was going to go to a gift for Elsa and the guard LAUGHING AT HIM LIKE THATS IT THATS ALL YOU HAVE?? Like shut UP HES TRYING TO SAVE HIS BELOVED
P e t t y c h a n g e HE IS TRYING MR GUARD I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW HE WORKED EXTRA TO GET THAT MONEY
ALARIK is so fucking DEVOTED I’m going to run through a goddamn wall I cannot cope. Willing to sell the clothes off his back have you ever seen an idiot more iN LOVE
ALARIK just going willingly cause he has no fight left in him and he just wants to see Elsa even if it means he gets imprisoned too oh my GOD
THE SCENE ITS THE SCENE!!!!!!!!!
STRAIGHT FROM TRISH’S SUBCONSCIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT STARTED IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!
ALARIK wanting to hold her hands when her hands are what are chained up and seen as dangerous and what ~make her a witch~ the absolute love and power that holds.
LET ALARIK AND ELSA HOLD HANDS
“I promised to keep you safe” the pain I feel oh mY GOD
“They’ll KILL you” they’re really out here trying to protect each other at all costs oh my god nothing matters more to the other than keeping the other safe and for that I want to cry and love them and also I want to ram their heads into the wall because wHY WONT THEY JUST PROTECT ESCH OTHER TOGETHER
The PARALLEL OH MY FUCKING GOD
the P A R A L L E L of ALARIK stilling and no longer struggling when the guards threaten Elsa’s death in the same way that Elsa stilled and stopped struggling when they threatened ALARIK’s death oh my god that broke me right there
U g h hans fuck that guy
A N N A !!!!!!!!
When I first read this,,, I DONT know why??? But for some reason??? I didn’t think Anna would be in it???? Which like thinking back on that it makes no sense of COURSE Anna would be in the FIC why would I ever think otherwise. But anyway I was so surprised when she showed up I literally gasped and went ANNA??? Out loud because I was so shocked
ALFAFA GERANIUM
ALARIK really is just so bad under pressure who thought this was a good idea
AG FOR SHORT wink wink nudge nudge cough cough
I’ll be thinking about ALARIK shouting alfafa geranium on my death bed let us never forget
“No harm, no foul” is literally the most fucking Anna line I’ve ever heard. She absolutely would say that to someone who was being question for a crime she’d be like “it’s not biggy”
Why is it that when hans says “BUT ANNA!!!” I hear it like he’s wining like a petulant child I read it like “bUT annNNAAAAA” ugh I hate him
“Don’t scream” *ALARIK’s inner monologue* “this ,, is the story of how I died”
ILL HELP YOU HELP HER ESCAPE!!!!! HELL YEA YOU WILL ANNA HELL YEA YOU WILL
Ch3
My dumbass really went “why are none of the children named neta” before remembering that is the child of Anna and Kristoff and these...are the children of Anna ,,, and .... ugh please don’t make me say his name
I would die for these kids though I love them and I want to protect them at all costs
Johannes at 5 (and a half!!!!) being a fine soldier GOOD FOR HIM
Isak owns my entire heart from the moment he started fake crying for his mother what a star performer a true Actor he’s too good
Arendellian Royal Guards, are they guards? Or are they simply baby sitters? The world may never know
JOAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the babies being named JOAN!!! Hang in there Joan!!!!!!!!! That made me cry oh my god J O A N
Bébé Isak lookout supreme with his big eyeballs and smile and goofy lil salute I love him
The fact that Elsa says she felt stupid for being lured into a false sense of security means she felt secure and safe for literally the first time since she was a child when she was with ALARIK and I cannot properly articulate how much that made me cry I love that so much that has to mean sO MUCH TO HER oh my god
“You have to get out!! Do the magic!!” NO ONE SPEAK TO ME ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT THIS LINE FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS I LITERALLY WEPT
the use of DO THE MAGIC oh my god AND ELSAS HEART LIKE BREAKING BECAUSE SHE FEELS LIKE SHE CANT
DO ! THE ! MAGIC !
Brave little boy with his mother’s determination saying “be brave. That’s what mama said to tell you” oh my GOD THESE CHILDREN HAVE MY WHOLE HEART OH MY GOD
A rooster crow for the signal COUKD they be more obvious I love these kids they’re ridiculous they are truly the children of Anna
Elsa!!! Chose!! To be!!! Brave!!!
IF SHE TRIED TO SAY GOODBYE TO ELSA!!! SHE MAY NEVER LET GO!!!
SHE HAD NO WHERE TO GO!!! BUT SHE DOES BEVAUSE THERES ALARIK WAITING FOR HER BECAUSE GUESS WHAT
ALARIK IS HER HOME !!!!! HE IS HER HOME !!!! SHE CAN GO TO HIM!!!!
Queue another one of my shocked and delightfully surprised screams as I shouted KRISTOFF????? Because blonde dude driving a reindeer cart
Let’s get you somewhere safe I’m going to cry THEYRE finally together again and they can keep each other safe together as. They. Should.
They are cuddling and my heart is exploding oh my god ALARIK seems so surprised like you big dumb idiot you’re both in love with each other it’s a mutual thing get with the program
SLEEP ELSA! ITS GOING TO BE OKAY! AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROBABLY FOREVER! IT WILL BE!
Ch4
*queue another gasp* there’s only one bed?????
Yea I saw it coming yea I was just as shocked even so yea I got very excited about it wHAT DID YOU EXPECT
They’re cUDDLING and he went to move away and she DOESNT WANT HIM TO they could’ve been sharing a bed THIS WHOLE TIME AND I JUST WANT TO SCREAM BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY
ALARIK laying all the credit on kristoff and the kids when he’s kind of the one that steamrolled the whole plan into happening because he’s the one who showed up ALARIK please give yourself more credit
“You came back” “of course I came back... I couldnt ...” “why?” And then ALARIK refusing to meet her eyes has me absolutely weeping this is the kind of shit I THRIVE ON this is truly a gift to us all everyone say thank you Trish for these three bits of dialogue I will be thinking about them for all my days
ELSA KISSED HIM!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I do lose my shit anytime Elsa is the one to make the first move you go girl you go

number 12? 👉👈
Elsa leaned her elbows on the table, watching Alarik hard at work on sorting the rock display for the next gaggle of freshly-minted-out-of-high-school first year geology students. There was a growing pile for sedimentary rocks, greatly outnumbering the metamorphic and igneous rocks combined. Elsa didn’t know much about geology, but she recognised the beautiful obsidian rock from Alarik’s bedroom, and the gneiss from the one corner of his lab where he kept his favourite geological specimens from the field.
“Admiring my rocks?” Alarik asked with a wink, catching Elsa watching.
“What? I mean...yes, yes, you have beautiful rocks.”
“Got a favourite one?”
“Probably that one with the little red things in it.”
“Ooh, garnet mica schist! She’s a beauty, but not as beautiful as you. Anything else you would like to ask?”
“So you’re a geologist, then.”
“And very proud to be one.”
“So...you lick rocks for a living?”
Alarik chuckled, throwing her a mysterious grin. “Sometimes. You should try it someday.”
Elsa wrinkled her nose at the thought. “Not a chance.”
“I’ll convert you to it soon enough. Now...how about that coffee date we were talking about?”

He watched her, from a brief distance. Anna's hand on her arm. Kristoff with his arms around Neta.
Jenny in Elsa's arms. Tiny.
Such small, delicate life.
Anna had said something to make Elsa laugh, and Jenny stretched towards it. The sound of her mother.
And Alarik felt contentment he would have thought never earned.

Det Drage Gås ~ A Late Elsarik Day 1 Story
Alarik sat still and stared, hard, resolute, at his opponent before him. Neither of them had moved for several minutes, there was the occasionally blink; this wasn’t a staring contest, staring just happened to be involved. But Alarik wouldn’t be moved, and to be honest, he was afraid to move. His opponent had never let him this close before, and not done something to push him away.
“What on this good Earth are you doing, dear?”
Startled at the sudden voice, Alarik jumped and even yelped, only to cringe. His opponent...a grey-white goose with a blue-tinted beak, flapped his wings as he honked in a way that sounded too close to laughter. The feathery beast trotted away, and though a part of Alarik knew better, he could swear it smugly, triumphantly marched. Alarik sighed, and turned around to look up at the one who interrupted the duel.
Elsa had an eyebrow raised, her head tilted just a little to one side, and a smirk that bordered on ornery on her lips.
Alarik tried his hardest not to pout, but one corner of his mouth did rebel just a tad. “I was...um, nothing, darling, I was doing nothing.”
The blonde’s expression remained mostly the same, but her eyelids did hang a little lower. “You two were dueling again, weren’t you?”
Alarik now let himself pout as he crossed his arms and sank into his chair. “Perhaps...”
Elsa shook her head as she chuckled, then walked to stand behind him as she rest her hands on his shoulders. “Don’t force respect with him, Alarik. Birger will like you in due time, I promise.”
She paused for a moment, then Alarik heard her giggle. “You’re both geese, after all, and birds of a feather flock together, do they not?”
Alarik leaned his head back to send her a playful glare, to which Elsa laughed out loud as she leaned on his shoulders. He waited a beat, then stood from his chair and went around to hug Elsa tightly. Despite the laughter that still wracked her form, the blonde hugged back just as if not more fiercely, and Alarik smiled.
Only to lose it as he looked over Elsa’s back to see him stare at them.
... blodig drage gås...

Elsarik, fluff, #5 please :D
Tumblr media
It’s been a long time, buddy! Life has gotten in the way and I’ve been drifting, but this is a good way to get back into the swing of things.
Warning, it’s been while since I’ve written Elsarik so bear with me
They had been married for three months when Dr. Alarik Geatland, Prince Consort of Arendelle, had finally persuaded his wife to take him on an extended trip to the ice castle that was situated on the North Mountains. Due to the fact that Elsa was the Queen of Arendelle, and therefore tasked with the running of the kingdom, their honeymoon had only been a short weekend spent in the romantic location of: their chambers.
It also did not help that their marriage came at the time of the year where Elsa’s presence was needed most and while Elsa trusted most of her advisors, she was well aware that some of them would immediately try to use any absence on her part as an opening to run the kingdom ten miles in the other direction. However, the year’s business had somewhat come to an end and now was an opportune time to go.
When Elsa had agreed he had been ecstatic. With his studies and her job, there wasn’t much time for quality time, although they did do their best. The North Mountains were close enough to the capital that Elsa could be back in a reasonable time if a disaster were to take place, but far enough away that no one would want to make the trek. To top it all off, Alarik loved any manifestation of her magic and while Elsa had initially been wary in the beginning stages of their relationship to show that side of herself to him, she was beginning to grow more comfortable with using it in his presence.
As they had prepared for bed the following night, he had held her close and stroked her hair reassuringly,“It’s going to be fine, Darling. We’re packed and ready to go. The kingdom is in good hands and won’t fall apart without you for a week. Plus, we get to spend some time together. I won’t even complain about the ridiculous scientists who shouldn’t even call themselves scientists, I mean, how hard is it for you to mistake mitochondria for the process of mitosis. It doesn’t make any sense and—.”
Elsa’s laughter, which was not what he intended to elicit, caused him to stop and smile. She shook her head and snuggled closer to him, “Silly goose.”
When they were about ready to leave that morning, Elsa called him back into their chambers.
“Darling, we didn’t forget anything. I promise we didn’t.”
“I know we didn’t, but you can’t honestly tell me that that is what you are wearing.”
Alarik looked up and down at himself and frowned.“It is what I’m wearing. I’m nice and warm in these clothes and I wore something similar when we went up to the castle the last time.”
Elsa looked at him like he was quite stupid for a scientist and he frowned again.“What?”
Elsa sighed exasperatedly, “It’s a different season. It’s not spring, its fall and it’s going to be much colder on the way up.”
Alarik’s confusion faded away and he grabbed her hands, “I’m going to be fine, darling, really.”
Elsa looked up to the heavens as if to ask why she had been given this kind of trail on a day like today and then looked back at him, “You’re really not. Which is why, I’m going to help make sure that you are warm”
Alarik’s eyes widened.
30 minutes later
“Are you warm enough, Alarik?” Elsa asked as they began to make their ascent by sled to the palace.
“Yes, I am darling. Thank you for assisting me.” Alarik’s simple outfit had been covered with three jackets, four pairs of thermal pants, two scarfs, and a beanie. Kristoff had had to leave the room they were saying their goodbyes in because he was finding it hard to conceal his laughter.

"Your Hair is So Soft"
Rating: K
Set in my Costs an Arm and a Leg verse. Alarik belongs to @patricia-von-arundel.
“You're joking.”
“I am not. Yes, Kristoff had reservations at first. But now, he loves it. Never asks for one, but he never turns it down either. I'm telling you, washing his hair, with a scalp massage? Alarik will be putty.”
Elsa shook her head, balling up her napkin and placing it in the aluminum takeout bowl. “I guess. It's just not something that immediately comes to mind.”
Anna swept their trash into the paper bag and stood. “Oh, it doesn't. But he'll love it. If I'm wrong, the next chocolate haul is on me. But I won't be. Which means you can pay.”
Elsa didn't think about their conversation until Alarik came home a few days later, his face tight with pain. Before the door had even fully closed behind him, he had his prosthetic and sleeve off, rubbing the burned skin of his stump.
“Oh, Alarik. How bad?” She offered her hands, and he allowed her to work on his skin, massaging in slow, gentle circles.
“Enough. It's been building for the past few days. I probably should have rested it more.”
Elsa hummed, continuing to rub his arm. Anna's suggestion came back to her, and she smiled up at Alarik, standing on her toes to press a kiss to his cheek.
“I'll warm up the leftovers, and then I want to try something, if you're willing.”
He turned so he could kiss her mouth, wrapping his other arm around her waist. “Of course, darling.”
…….
“I certainly could have started my own bath.”
“I know. But it's not just a bath. Now, how's the temperature?”
Alarik padded over, dipping a finger into the water. “Perfect.”
“Good! In you go.”
He settled in, looking back at her as she adjusted the chair so she was sitting by his head.
“Are you joining me?”
“Not this time. I'm going to do your hair.”
His face scrunched in confusion. “But I-”
“I know you can wash your hair. But I want to try this. To give you a chance to relax. May I?”
Alarik rested his head against the towel she'd placed on the tub's rim, smiling. “Of course. I put myself in your capable hands.”
Elsa chuckled, leaning forward to place a kiss on his head. “I need you to lift your head so I can rinse your hair, though.”
After a thorough rinse, Elsa pulled over the pump bottle with Alarik's 3-in-1 shampoo. “I still don't understand how this works for you, while I have to use multiple products.”
“The benefits of having luscious, curly locks, I suppose.”
Elsa rolled her eyes and laughed, splashing his neck. “Goose.”
Several pumps of shampoo onto her hand, and then she started, working it into his hair and scalp, working up a healthy lather. Elsa was surprised at how much she enjoyed it- running her hands through his hair and hearing the bubbly-scratchy noise of the shampoo was soothing in its own way. She could feel Alarik relaxing beneath her, his shoulders slumping and… shaking?
Was he crying?
“Alarik? Are you alright? Are you hurting?”
He sniffed, wiping his hand across his eyes. “No, I'm fine. I… it's… no one's ever done anything like this for me before. And… it's so nice… Oh God, why am I crying so much!?”
“Hey, hey, it's alright.” Elsa rinsed her hands in the water, then shifted the stool so he could look at her. She placed a hand on his cheek, using her thumb to wipe away the tears. “It's okay to feel. I'm here. And I love you, so, so much.”
Alarik sniffled and turned to kiss her palm, his hand coming up to cover hers. “I know. I'm so lucky to have you. And I love you so, so much.”
How long they sat there, Elsa wasn't sure. Eventually, Alarik looked back up at her with a quirked smile. “Would you… would you start washing my hair again?”
Elsa smiled back and shifted the stool. “Of course.”
She added in some more shampoo, and soon Alarik was sighing and slumping against the tub as she massaged his scalp. Elsa kept it up for a few more minutes, before tapping his shoulder.
“Time to rinse.”
He turned so she could see his pout. “Do you have to?”
She laughs. “Yes, Alarik. Besides, I'm sure the water is getting cold.”
“I'd survive.” Still, he sat up, letting her rinse. He took the proffered soap from her and finished washing himself, before reaching forward to pull the drain plug. He stepped out and toweled off, while Elsa grabbed his bottle of moisturizer. She followed him into their bedroom, and waited until he got dressed to sit beside him on the bed.
“May I?”
He didn't hesitate, but immediately placed his stump into her lap. She was struck, as often was the case, by the trust he had in her. Alarik had grown more accepting about his missing hand and burn scars over the years, but he still tended to want to at least keep the skin covered while out in public. But that didn't happen with her.
“You don't have to ask, you know. To touch…” He raised and lowered his stump.
“Would you ever stop asking me for permission to touch mine? Or work on my prosthetics? Even though I say yes every time?”
“Of course not! You might not want me to touch it at some point! I don't ever want to assume… oh.”
Elsa leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek. “Exactly. The same goes for you. Every. Time. Now, let's take care of your skin.”
Elsa squeezed a dollop of the lavender-scented lotion onto her hand. She was thorough, working the moisturizer deep into his skin, making sure to massage it well. She felt Alarik relaxing against her, and smiled, happy to see that he appeared to be feeling better.
“You are amazing.”
She closed the bottle with a giggle, and passed him his nightshirt. After donning her own pajamas- just an old shirt of his and a pair of shorts- she settled into bed, tugging on his arm until he laid down next to her. She cuddled into his chest with a sigh, raising one hand to run it through his drying curls.
“Your hair is so soft.”
She felt more than heard his chuckle. “What can I say? Luscious locks.” He kissed the top of her head. “Thank you, again. That was really nice.”
“I'm glad you enjoyed it. Just… don't tell Anna.”
“Wait, what?”

Elsa needed go for a ride.
The past few months had seen her stressed, and every little thing seemed to set her off. Most recently, she’d had an argument with Alarik- a simple spat over an injury Alarik had accrued while exploring- that had ended with her in tears and running off to the water’s edge, calling for the Nøkk in a voice choked with sobs.
Nøkk exploded from the water’s surface with a haunting whinny, shaking their head and nudging her with their nose, sensing her distress and sending her worried images in response. Elsa ran a hand over their neck in an attempt at reassurance, scrubbing stubborn tears from her eyes as she forced a smile. The Nøkk rested their head against her chest, humming softly.
“It’s alright, I’m fine. I just… need to get away for some time. Ready to ride?” Elsa held her hand out, ice collecting on the surface as she prepared to start the transformation. To her surprise, Nøkk took several rapid steps backward, shaking their head and nickering, a single, solid thought coming, not in the Nøkk’s normal way of images and emotions, but a single word- No.
Elsa drew back, uncertain. Nøkk had never, never refused a ride. No matter the conditions, no matter her mood, they were always ready for a run. She let the power fade from her hand. “What’s… what’s wrong?”
Nøkk looked at her, ears flicking nervously. They stepped forward once more, this time resting their muzzle closer to her belly, their bright eyes locking on hers. For a moment, they did nothing, then closed their eyes and sent a thought. It was the Nøkk’s perspective, moments earlier, as they rested their head on Elsa’s chest, listening to her heartbeat, as always.
This time, however, there were two.
She staggered away from the water’s edge, thinking hard, trying to remember when her last cycle was. She had always been irregular, and usually thought nothing of a missed cycle.
Summer.
She hadn’t bled since summer.
Not since before…
The hidden spring they had found while exploring one day.
Elsa felt her vision swimming, and she blindly made her way to a tree, feeling the autumn leaves crunch beneath her feet. She leaned back on it, before feeling herself sliding down, down, until she was sitting at the base of the tree. She curled up around herself, hugging her knees to her chest, feeling tears prickling at her eyes. She buried her face in her knees, feeling her shoulders shaking with sobs.
After what seemed like a lifetime, she heard the crunch of boot stepping on a fallen twig, and looked up.
“Darling?” Alarik asked, eyes wide and worried. “I came to apologize, you were right, I shouldn’t have gotten myself injured like that, I promise I’ll be more careful…”
Careful…
They hadn’t been careful. If they had been more careful, if they had used protection, if, if, if…
She burst into tears. “I’m pregnant.”
The word broke something within her, and ice spread in a ragged circle, thick and spiked. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Alarik step closer and pulled back with a cry. He stopped where he was, but did not back up- he would never back away, only give her the space she needed. He lowered himself so he was at her eye level.
“Elsa.” His tone remained calm and soothing, “Deep breaths. Deep breaths, calm yourself. You will be fine.” He spoke more, soft murmurings in both Norwegian and Swedish, a stream of words meant simply to help her calm down. Elsa pulled air into her lungs, struggling to comply, her world spinning. After a moment, her heart slowed, and the ice beneath her thawed, soaking her legs. She could hear Alarik’s steps sloshing through the water, and after one more shuddering breath, she turned, allowing him to wrap an arm around her and bring her away from the growing puddle. As soon as they were settled onto dry ground, Alarik pulled her close, running a hand through her hair in slow, reassuring strokes.
“Deep breaths, darling. We can’t be entirely sure at this point-”
“Nøkk heard two heartbeats.”
Alarik’s eyes drifted over to Nøkk, who had remained standing in the breakers, eyes never wavering from the two of them. Upon noticing his gaze, Nøkk’s ears went back, and they snorted irritably. Alarik, for his part, merely narrowed his eyes before looking back to Elsa, who had managed a small smile at this point- the two of them had never truly gotten along.
"I see."
“What if I can’t control my powers?” she whispered, looking up at him, eyes wide and wet. “It’s going to hurt, it’s going to be hard, I-”
“Darling,” he said, stroking through her hair, “we’ll practice. You’re going to be just fine.” He pulled her closer, pressing his lips to her brow. “Do you trust me on this?”
She looked up at him, “yes…” She did trust him. She trusted him with her life.
And with the life now growing inside her.
They sat quietly for a minute more, holding one another, processing. Eventually Alarik shifted, then stood, offering a hand to Elsa. She took it and stood herself, turning in the direction of Arendelle.
"I'll have to tell Anna and Kristoff," she murmured. Alarik squeezed the hand he still held, following her gaze.
"You don't have to, at least not right away. Give yourself the time you need. Anna will understand."
"No, I… I want to. As long as… will you come with me?"
"Always, Elsa, always. I am always here for you." Alarik turned to her, eyes seeking permission. She lifted her head, and he brought his lips to hers. When they pulled away, he motioned towards the Northuldra village.
"Do you want me to prepare a sled? We should be ready within a half hour."
"No need. Nøkk, will you take us? No, I know, not riding," Elsa added when Nøkk shook their head. She sent a mental image, and after a moment's hesitation, they bobbed their head in agreement.
"Elsa, what-" Alarik's voice petered off as Elsa raised her hands, sending a shower of ice out onto the water. Within seconds, a sleek craft, somewhere between a sled and a boat, appeared, with slim strands of ice reaching out to wrap around Nøkk. Elsa chuckled at the wide-eyed look on Alarik's face, and motioned to the craft.
"Let's go tell them."
……….
Many, many months later…
Elsa stood at the edge of the stream winding through the camp, baby Jenny resting securely in her sling against her chest. She leaned against Alarik, eyes closed as she called once more for the Nøkk. The water rippled and warped, and they exploded forth with a whinny.
As soon as their gaze landed on Elsa, the water spirit’s head tilted, ears pricked. An image came to her, with a questioning emotion attached. Alarik started when Elsa burst out laughing.
“They think I’m still pregnant- the sling is confusing for them. No, here she is.” With deft movements, Elsa unwrapped Jenny, settling the sleepy infant in her arms, lifting her so Nøkk could better see. The water spirit gave a sudden snort, stepping back and shaking their head. Elsa felt Alarik’s hand clench her shoulder, pulling her closer to him.
More images and feelings, these tinged with worry.
Small. So small. Could hurt.
“Oh, oh, it’s alright. Come here, Nøkk, you won’t hurt her.”
“Hmph. So you say,” she heard Alarik mutter from behind her. She gave him a quick shove, rolling her eyes. Nøkk gave him a much more aggressive snort before approaching Elsa once more, head low. They stretched their neck, nostrils flaring as they took in Jenny’s scent. Alarik’s hand tightened again, but Elsa remained still, letting Nøkk continue their inspection.
After a few more sniffs, Nøjk reached forward and tentatively placed the tip of their muzzle on Jenny's chest. Jenny shifted, her eyes fluttering open, but before Nøkk could pull away, she raised a hand, resting it on their nose.
Elsa had never seen Nøkk's eyes go quite as wide as they did then. Their entire body appeared to glow, and a shudder worked its way through them. A bevy of emotions and thoughts flooded Elsa's mind, chief among them being an overwhelming sense of protectiveness and love. Nøkk had fallen completely and irrevocably in love with Jenny, and was willing to protect her with every fiber of their being. Elsa felt tears sting the corners of her eyes at the thought. She rested her forehead on Nøkk's.
"Thank you, my friend."
After a few moments, Nøkk pulled away, prancing and snorting, flinging their head towards their back in a clear indication of their intent. Elsa hesitated, looking down at Jenny with concern. Alarik removed his hand and grabbed the sling, securing it around Elsa's shoulder once more. When she looked at him in surprise, he smiled and gave her forehead a kiss.
"Go. You'll both be fine. I'll see you when you come back." He looked at Nøkk, giving them a stern look. "You will keep them safe, do you hear me?"
For once, Nøkk didn't respond with their normal bluster. Instead, they lowered their head, sending one clear thought to Elsa.
"Always," she echoed. Alarik relaxed- smiled even, before offering a hand as Nøkk lowered to their knees. Elsa took a breath and swung on, feeling a rush of adrenaline when Nøkk stood. Alarik adjusted Jenny's sling once more before placing a hand on Nøkk's hindquarters.
"Have a good ride. Both of you." He stepped back as Elsa coated Nøkk in ice, and turned them inland. With one more check to see that Jenny was secure- she was, in fact, sleeping soundly- Elsa touched her heels to their sides.
"Let's go for a ride."

3 for At the Beach writing prompt, please! ;D
Elsa closes her eyes, wriggling her toes as the cool waves lap over her feet, the sandpaper feel of sand grains brushing over her skin. Sand builds and drags away between her toes with each to and fro of the waves rolling through the surf until they came to rest on the beach.
‘Elsa?’
Elsa’s eyes flutter open and she turns to gaze up at Alarik next to her, his hands cupped over something so that Elsa could not see what it was.
‘Yes, my daft goose?’
Alarik gets down on one knee, never mind the water, and opens his hands, only for a particularly sneaky rogue wave to knock him off balance, causing him to curse, before frantically pawing under the water, ending up with hands on his head, fingers clutching at his hair.
‘What have you done now, Alarik?’ Elsa asks in the same tone she’d use on a child that was constantly doing daft things.
Alarik slowly looks up at Elsa with the most pathetic, saddest look on his face, like a puppy that had been missing its human for all of twenty minutes while their owner went to the corner dairy to pick up some milk and butter.
‘I lost it! I lost the engagement ring in the water!’

Quality Time
Okay, this one, I’ve been looking forward to writing...
“Just. Stay. Still!”
“But it hurts! Ow, stop, you’re pulling!”
A familiar refrain, certainly. Daily. Every morning.
Alarik put his book down, considering how a new thought might be received. Favorably, or was it one of those things which he was not supposed to offer to do?
Well, he had never been fond of not having definitive answers.
They both looked up as he knocked on the open door: Elsa with a brush and ribbon, Jenny leaning away from her, her hair half-braided down her back, her cheeks red with fury.
“Tell her to stop, Papa.”
“Johanna Maria!”
“Don’t call me that!”
“Actually,” Alarik said, “that was exactly what I was hoping to tell her to do.”
Elsa cocked an eyebrow. “What?” Warning in her voice.
Time to make himself very clear, then: “Could you show me how to do it?”
“To... to braid Jenny’s hair?”
“That was what I was thinking, yes.”
“I...” Elsa looked down at the brush, then back to him. “I... suppose I could.”
“Wonderful, Darling. Thank you.” He offered Jenny a smile. “Is it all right with you, Eldig?”
“I guess. Don’t pull. Mama pulls.”
“You need to sit still. It wouldn’t pull if you were still.”
“Yes, it would. You always pull.”
Alarik went closer, before they returned to yelling. “So how do we do this, then?”
“Here.” Elsa handed him the comb, and showed him how to fold the tails of hair, one over the other.
“Quite simple, then.”
“You’d think.”
A few days later...
Elsa woke early, stretched. It came as no surprise to find the space on the bed next to her empty - Alarik sometimes seemed hardly to sleep at all.
What was a surprise was hearing his voice nearby. She got up and padded from the room, yawning but curious. His voice was coming from Jenny’s room.
Jenny’s room?
“...And so I find myself theorizing that it is perhaps some form of actual physical change, not merely a chemical one, though of course any chemical change also encompasses a physical component. The difference here is that I feel the mechanics of the physical change are not merely chemical in nature, but reflective of some other stimulant, though I haven’t yet been able to determine just what that stimulant might be. And so as a result I’ve been trying to - Oh, good morning, Darling.”
Elsa, speechless, watched as he finished Jenny’s long braid, tying the ribbon into a neat little bow.
Jenny never moved a muscle.
Now who’s the one with magic? Elsa could only shake her head. There were some things that truly could never be explained.

Моя пещера, твоя пещера.
I actually wrote this one up early and scheduled it, just in case my forgetful mind lost this day in the midst of sleep, work, and school. ;3 @shardsofarendelle
This uh...got...longer than I planned...Birger had input, it would seem.
Elsa was in the midst of filing paperwork when she felt him. Her dragon, Birger, had ever so gently brushed her mind; over the years, their bond had grown, and the ways they were able to connect varied as they strengthened. Even when Alarik’s arrival came about, and all the...unique situations that entailed, and the pair’s own bond was tested, all came out well. They didn’t need questions or permissions with one another, and to outsiders, it would seem as if the queen and her fluffy companion were as one unit.
So it was with a perplexed frown that Elsa set down her pen, and absently glanced at her window. There were no words to Birger’s contact just now, no clear cut thoughts or anything. It was merely a feeling...a subtle guide to meet him outside. Elsa hesitated, as she knew that Birger understood she was in the middle of work. He normally respected her “foolish duties”, and their importance; so why on Earth would he disturb her now?
The queen stood from the chair, and walked around her desk as she approached the window. It was cool outside, and the nippy temperature beyond the castle’s warmed walls caused a conflicting fog to cloud the glass. But she didn’t have to be able to see through the windowpane to know that her dragon sat just beyond it, in the castle’s vast courtyard, which was just barely able to contain his now grandiose form.
Come...
A word, this time, to come with that same soft caress to her spirit. She could feel more to it now, a warm beckoning...he wanted to take her somewhere. Out of habit, out of instinct, her body moved to go out and meet him. But as she thought of her family, of Alarik, and the thought of letting herself be spirited away without warning...she hesitated. But no sooner then she did so, and the doubt began to prick at her heart, had she felt an even warmer, soothing balm come from her dragon.
Fear not, heart...please, come...
Elsa only remained still for the briefest moment before she continued her original path. Before long, she was garbed as her dragon strangely requested her to, and met with Birger in the courtyard. The large, fluffy beast near reverently crouched down as she approached, one foreleg held out to make her climb up his fur a less harsh angle. Hood up and mask on, Elsa nestled in the teal mane that pooled between his shoulder blades as the huge beast bounded out of the city. Though Birger said nothing, and his heart betrayed nothing, Elsa knew immediately where he was headed.
She could never forget the way to her dragon’s cave.
As the icy pair approached the clearing that, to this day, held fast against the forest, Elsa noticed something odd. The large, gaping hole in the mountainside—carved out by expert miners and Birger’s own paw to accommodate his growth—glowed from deep within by was seemed to be flickering firelight. The blonde frowned and tilted her head; there should be no one here, Birger would’ve told her if there’d be a plan regarding his cave. As she thought so, the strong form beneath her began to shake with clear laughter.
Elsa looked up just as Birger had turned his head down to meet her gaze.
You were not told the plan, for it was not mine to tell, heart.
Elsa frowned, pulled back her hood, and tugged down her mask. “What...Birger, what do you mean by that?”
He didn’t answer, merely smiled, and crouched down to allow her ease to dismount. As she did so, Elsa heard boots in the snow, and looked up at the cave’s entrance. Her eyes widened and she gasped softly, as the last person she expected to emerge from Birger’s cave did so.
“Hello, min elskling.” Alarik said, and smiled from beneath the furred hood that protected his magic-less body from the cold.
“Alarik...” That was all Elsa could manage to say before the stun was too great, and she turned to stare, shocked, at Birger’s smug grin.
You two are in dire need of some quality time, heart. You need somewhere quiet, secluded; and, well...
His grin shifted to a gentle smile.
Mоя пещера, твоя пещера.
It was one thing that Birger dared to allow himself to share Elsa, his heart, with Alarik. But that he would share his very cave, the place where the dragon and the queen first met? Tears pricked at Elsa’s eyes, and almost as if in expectation, Birger had already brought his head down. She threw her arms around his mighty snout, and the beast thrummed softly.
Stay here with him, enjoy your time together unbothered and unburdened. I promise you won’t be gone long, but you two deserve this. Stay here, and cherish one another...I will keep watch, as always.
Elsa nodded into his fur, and didn’t so much as make a sound when she felt gentle hands on her shoulders.
“Honored guardian, if I may have this lovely lady’s precious time?”
As Elsa released his snout, Birger lifted it to brush the tops of both their heads at once with his large chin. The smitten pair laughed at the gesture, and the blonde queen eagerly followed the redhead gentleman into the dragon’s den. The inside was, as always, comfortably prepared should Elsa stay a night with her dragon. But on this night, it was softly lit, densely cushioned, and overall terribly romantic. Shocked for the third time in just a few short hours, Elsa turned to her husband, speechless, as he smiled bashfully.
“I uh...I might’ve had this planned out for a while. Thank goodness Anna’s a very proficient interpreter for your dragon, or I might’ve never–”
He was able to say no more when Elsa hugged him fiercely about the shoulders, and before he could speak again, captured the would be words in a kiss. The utterly twitterpated pair’s world quickly shrunk to the confines of the cave. Neither of them paid any heed to the crackling of ice being sparked to life at the cavern’s entrance. Not a one of them noticed the shift in the air as a wall of ice, thick enough to be opaque but with slits in the top where it met the rock, settled into place and safely ensconced them within. They certainly did not hear the thuds of heavy steps that steadily grew quiet as a certain someone made his way to the opposite end of the clearing about the cave’s now sealed entrance.
Even the sun’s rising the next morning went unnoticed...

Coffee Shop AU
AN: Welp, here I go. The first creative piece of writing I’ve done since college started back in August. Now that I’m on summer break, hopefully I’ll write more. Here is hoping that term papers didn’t kill any talent.
There were times that Alarik Geatland didn't really mind working in a coffee shop.
Although it wasn't exactly his top pick for a job after exiting The Academy, it was something that granted him a flexible schedule, a not too shabby pay once you factored in any tips, and most important of all: a roof over his head. Besides, he know going into The Academy that his specific field of science wasn't exactly the type that would instantaneously grant him a job.
If anything,  this job gave him even more of a work ethic so when potential jobs opened up he'd have even more of an advantage.
However, there were some disadvantages to this field of work. While Alarik Geatland was no where near the stereotype of scientists having no social skills whatsoever and being too engrossed in their field of work to pay any mind to any other matter, he wasn't a social butterfly by any means. This job meant interacting with many different types of people all in a short period of time.
The other disadvantage to this type of work?
When people came in to the shop, and although they had every right to, ordered the most ridiculous concontions imaginable.
But in the end, it would all be worth it.
The payoff came off about 1 year into his job at the coffee house.
It was a Monday, and while Alarik usually took Monday's off in order to job search (supervisors were most commonly around on Monday's and Tuesday’s), one of his co-workers had called in sick and another had not shown up, so here he was.
Monday’s were also apparently the busiest of days which meant he had to frequently multitask between taking orders, making orders, and cleaning tables.
By the time it was his lunch break, he was near the point of exhaustion.
As he sat at one of the few empty tables in the room, he constantly kept refreshing his email, hoping that a reply to one of his job inquires would appear as if by magic. Fifteen minutes into doing this, he set his phone down.
Times like these made him wonder if his choice of field had been worth leaving the place where he grew up. Despite needing to get away from there, it could have been much simpler just to stay and accept what life had given him.
He sighed and stood up, digging in his pockets for the money he kept there, in order to go to one of the small restaurants across the street. One thing he hated was not being prepared when the cashier told him how much something cost. When he wasn't prepared, he could almost feel the animosity of anyone standing behind him.
As he began to walk out the door, he accidentally bumped into the person who was apparently coming inside, making both of their phones drop to the floor.
 The person quickly apologized.
“I am so sorry. I am so, so sorry. I-I didn't see you. I guess I got caught up in my email. I am so sorry. Are you-Are you all right?”
Alarik, who had bent down to the floor to grab both of the phones, smiled softly and getting back up was about to reassure the person when he saw who he had bumped into.
The person was a she. A very beautiful she, by the way. Her beautiful, bright blue eyes were full of worry. It was something that, unconsciously, Alarik wished to get rid of.
It was only when she began to blush that he realized he might have said the last statement out loud, making his face turn bright red and match his hair. He dreaded that he had, for a moment, became a man customers always degraded when they were on their phone in line.
“I am so sorry.” He grimaced, handing her back her phone. “That was entirely my fault not yours. I'm also sorry for everything that came out of my mouth. Are you okay.”
She smiled softly albeit more hesitantly, “Its okay. Don't worry about it.”
It was just then his phone rang and by the look of the number on the screen, it was a similar number to a job he had applied for.
“Uh, I got to get this. I am so sorry and um, your drink is on me. My name is Alarik and I’m. Again so sorry. Got to go.”
She smiled and he turned and headed outside, answering the call, “Hello?”
By the time the phone call ended, Alarik’s lunch break was nearly over and while usually he liked to be back early from his breaks, right now it didn't seem to matter.
He had been offered a job, with better pay and even better, in his field of study. All he had to do was give his two weeks notice, and then he could start.
He sat down at one of the tables in the now nearly empty coffee shop, shocked in disbelief.
Alarik had waited so long for this day to come and now he almost couldn't believe it.
“How did that phone call turn out.”
He snapped out of his reverie for a moment to turn his head to the table next to him.
There, sitting with a book on what appeared to be geometric solutions, was the beautiful blue eyed girl he had bumped into and unfortunately ogled earlier.
He apparently stared too long because she paled considerably, looking ashamed.
“I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have been so intrusive. We don't know each other and that was so rude of me. I'm sorry. I've been told I need to be more social and-”
He grinned, “It's okay. If anything you deserve to know, considering I bumped into you and said something I shouldn't have said out loud.”
Color returned to her still pale face and she smiled slightly.
“Anyway, the phone call was about a job I had applied for. I got it.”
She beamed, “Congratulations, that's good news.”
He nodded, “I've been waiting for a job like this for what seems like a while.”
 “Where is it?”
“It's a bit separated from the business district. It's on a hill overlooking the city.”
She tilted her head and smiled, something Alarik found quite cute but kept to himself.
“Well, it looks like we are going to be seeing more of each other. I work there as well.”
Alarik grinned. “I guess we will.”
As the conversation ended, his alarm notifying the end of his lunch break went off. Smiling, he stood up and put his apron back on. “Well, I guess I got to go back to work.”
She nodded, “I should too. It was nice meeting you and I guess I'll see you around.”
Alarik smiled in affirmation and headed back behind the counter beginning to tidy up when he heard someone approach.
“Hi, welcome to-”He began his spiel until he looked up to see the same woman from before.”Uh, hi-um what can I get you?”
She gave him her order and he rang her up. He was about to start when he went back to the register where she stood waiting, “I'm gonna need your name.”
 She smiled.
 “Elsa. My name is Elsa.”
He grinned and went back to making her order. Alarik was definitely going to remember that name.
