Will I ever catch up on Autistic Hunter Week? Not before it ends apparently!! Day 3: Work/Carving
Post finale, all three of the sillies actually do at least a little bit of palisman carving. Cat only carves cats or other felines while Dipper only carves a handful of times a year, and only ever horrific monstrosities like his own palisman… usually on accident

The Flower Shop of Lemoore | A Bob Floyd Fictional Work
Words: 1697
Summary:
Y/N Stumbles upon a flower shop she's never noticed on her normal route home, she bites up the courage to take a step into the shop only to be met by a flower enthusiast Bob Floyd.
Flower one out of Twenty
Today's Flower: AppleBlossom - Better Things to come, Good fortune
Chapter List can be found : here
Dedicated to: @notyoursbutlewis
Other Flower themed works by myself that started the drive for this one: The Flowers for Your Scars, The Petals to Your Tears, Text Me the Right Way
Tumblr media
The day was ordinary, her life was ordinary, a normal nine to five job with stressful coworkers. There was nothing probably better than this, walking the streets of good ol’ Lemoore with a snag in her shoulders. She had her bag swinging at her side with each step.
The sound of her boots hitting the stone walkways, the small town was nothing more than a welcoming sight during the fall. The leaves were a golden yellow and the yelling of playing kids distracted Y/N as she stepped further into the town. It was the evening, the sun looked like it was about to fall from the sky once again.. and there she was, stressed and overworked heading to her local town bus stop since her car was in the shop.
But a strange sight pickled at her nose and she stopped dead in her tracks, there beside her was a flower shop. The door sprung open to allow the beauty of spelling flowers spread out onto the floor. Y/N’s heavy wool coat seemed to not be able to repel the cold air coming from this shop, infact.. she had never even seen the shop ever in her lifetime.
She had walked the same way to the bus stop from work everytime, how come she didn’t notice this flower shop? Was it just built, had she not noticed the construction when she walked passed.. was the building just a figment of her imagination? She didn’t know, all she knew is that it looked so inviting, more inviting than Lemoore in the current season.
So, she swallowed her pride and stepped inside, the door closing behind her making her jump, it gave off a soft ding and there a boy perked up from behind the counter that was only mere-meters in front of her.
“Oh! I must've left the door open.” He had a small apron on, it had swirls of floral embroidery on it. His white cuffed button up shirt, his hair slicked back and in a perfect style. His name tag pinned crookedly to his apron, brown boots and worn brown jeans seemed to finish up his outfit.. but the final touch seemed to be his glasses, they were rustic gold and brought the whole outfit together.
“Welcome to the family owned Lemoore flower shop.” He had a charming smile, Y/N was just staring at him like she had seen a ghost. She was trying to process how this flower shop was family owned, it just popped up on her radar, there was no way it had been around that long, right?
She was scared to take a step, being hesitant as she approached the counter. The place smelled wonderful, there were flowers, note cards.. even paintings being sold here. “How long has this place been around?” She asked, her hands picking at the gloves she wore.
“Five years now, we just haven’t been open a lot. Fall seems to be the best time, which is weird to many.. since it’s cold, but the flowers seem to enjoy it.”
That explained it, she probably thought the place had gone down hill or was just always closed. It wasn’t like she thought about flowers on a daily basis.
Her eyes were just drifting about the old building, till she saw a sign that read ‘Flower Reading’ this confused her, the information only being that the worker at the time was able to read a person’s personality with a single flower, Y/N hadn’t ever heard of a flower even having a meaning to it.
He seemed to catch onto how focused she was on the sign about the flower reading. “Is there something I can explain to you?” He asked, pushing up the arch of his glasses with his thumb.
“Flowers.. have meanings?” This line seemed to leave his mouth wide and agape. “You’ve never heard of floriography?” Y/N shook her head slowly, quite confused upon his reaction.
He took a deep breath for a moment as if he was trying not to get upset about this. “It’s just the meaning of a flower.. I’m shocked you don’t know about this.”
“I don’t spend all my days in a flower shop like yourself..” She leaned forward a bit reading his name tag. “Bob.” She smiled,
“Well, that I knew.” He chuckled, “I think I have just the flower for you.” He said, which made Y/N confused for a moment, she didn’t ask for a reading or anything of the sort.
He pulled out this small pinkish-white flower and held it out for her. “It’s called an Apple Blossom, they mainly grow in the early spring to late summer, but a couple of them we’ve been able to preserve..” She took the small delicate flower in her hand, paying attention to him as he spoke.
“They stand for good fortune..” He had a hushed tone while he spoke. “I know you didn’t ask for a reading, or even a flower, but it already seemed like you were having a rough day. I can read a person like how I’m able to read flowers. They’re one in the same, they feel emotions too.. and welt when they’re done living a good life.”
Y/N was just surprised he was able to read her sort of like a book, or.. a flower, she supposed. It now made sense why they had these flower readings, they made it to have people feel better with a flower of good meaning in their hands.
“How many readings can you have?” She asked, softly. Her thumb brushing over the light petals of the flower.
“One a day.” He answered. “It got too out of hand when we did a bunch, so I just do one for each customer. My dad had to deal with a bunch of harassment back then when he would hand them a flower they weren’t expecting, or it was a flower with a bad meaning, so when he passed the shop to me it went sort of quiet..”
She was just looking at the flower, she wouldn’t be upset if the flower had a terrible meaning. It’s still a beautiful thing in her hands. “There’s still beauty in sorrow.” She whispered.
“That’s what my dad used to say as well.” He hummed. “He always described myself like a Coreopsis.. they stand for a cheerful meaning and look like this.” He pulled out a pressed flower, it was a bright yellow with brown flower. It still had the same amount of beauty as the Apple blossom you were holding.
“Once you find the flower that just stands for your character, you press it. This one sits on my key fob usually, I have it with me while I work.”
“How long does it usually take for you to find a flower that fits you?”
“Sometimes a couple minutes, sometimes a couple years..” Bob muttered, trailing off. “The readings are just to help you get a grip, but I can’t simply tell you which flower you are, that’s for you to find out for yourself.”
Y/N felt like Bob was making it seem like it was a challenge for a main character in a book trying to find themselves, it made her a bit puzzled. She understood he couldn’t tell her, he didn’t know her.
She stood there holding a flower for Good fortune but she didn’t even know if she truly had good fortune, it seemed like he just handed it to her out of guilt and the fact she seemed to be in a daze.
Perhaps it was her eye bags? Her loose strands of stray hairs? The bun she put up in the morning rush? She didn’t have a clue, maybe it was none of those things at all.
Maybe, he really could just read her that well.
“How do.. you just know it’s your flower.” Bob could tell she was confused about this whole thing.
“It’s mainly by doing the research, finding out which flowers fit you the most and then narrowing it down, and boom you’re left with the conclusion. Which for me was the coreopsis.”
“Sounds like a lot of work..” She sighed softly.
“I can help, but I told you. I only do these readings once a day per-person, so it’s gonna have to happen another time..” He huffed, seeming a bit disappointed he couldn’t really help her.
“Then.. I’ll come back.” He perked up at this, he had never had a returning customer. “You want to come back?”
“Why not, it’ll be fun! Finding out with someone else about what flower is pretty much my personality.”
“I just.. I’ve never had someone return.”
“I’ll be the first then!”
“Alright..” Bob whispered. “You can keep that flower till it welts, it’s disconnected from the base so it’ll probably welt oddly fast.”
“And that’s okay, because they start anew at the beginning of spring.”
“You were paying attention.”
“I was..”
Y/N smiled. “Thank you Bob, I’ll see you tomorrow. I have work.. so it’ll probably be around the same time.” She muttered, just admiring the flower.
“I’ll see- wait, I never got your name.” He said, reaching out sort of when she turned her back to the door.
“That’s a question for tomorrow, I’ll take my good fortune and leave you in mystery..”
“Alright, stranger.”
“I’ll see you, stranger.” She returned the gesture, giving a small wave to him. She stepped out right into the cold, still holding her good fortune of a flower.
She surely wasn’t expecting this, he seemed to be a mysterious guy, but all she knew about him was that he was a cheerful flower.
That term sort of made her snort as she continued to walk, eventually picking up the pace when she spotted her bus rolling up to the bench.
She soon enough got onto the bus with a huff and her body relaxing from the sudden tension the moment she found a seat. She caught one more glimpse of the flower shop, to make sure it wasn’t just all in her head.
It wasn’t.

One of the worst feelings for me is seeing something I KNOW an Undertale character would like and then realizing they're not real, and I cannot give it to them :( Has Toriel seen the snail teapot? Or the snail wrapping paper where the snails are wearing sunglasses and saying "Shell Yeah"? No, she hasn't. Because she's not a real person.

Inktober Day 29 -- Uh-oh
I have been very much in a baking/cooking mood recently.
Here we have a very important life lesson -- always get the flour/any powders wet before turning on your high power electric mixer. (I may be speaking from experience lol). Then I added as much chaos as possible before I got tired!
