I didn't used to battle but I'm trying to learn how. Bibi, that's my Crobat, really seems to like it so I wanted to learn to make him happy.

I kinda just... improvise. I don't really know what I'm doing, hehe.

To the Trainers and battlers who read this, I am curious.

What tactics and strategies do you use that differentiate yourself from any other? Or are you a strictly orthodox Trainer?

There are many kinds of Trainers who use differing strategies. Some become more involved in the battle themselves- Considering things like releasing their Pokeball in specific places on the field, or timing their attacks. There are some who simply leave it all up to their Pokemon, viewing themselves as a coach more than an active part of the battle. Some will even modify their Pokeballs within League regulations so that they fly further. Pokemon battling is a display of bond between Trainer and Pokemon, which means many do see the Trainer as needing to add their own personal flourishes and touches to the battle strategy.

On the other hand, there is simply the orthodox type, who trains diligently and becomes strong in a normal way. Former Kanto Champion Green Oak was a known proponent of this type of training- Simply becoming stronger without special tricks would allow you to take on any opponent.

There are also the type who have a more 'wild' approach- By living in the wilderness with their Pokemon, they are able to approach battling in a more natural manner, and so their thinking is often more flexible than Trainers who only battle in League circumstances. Champion Red, of Kanto, and Champion Alder, of Unova, are known to be of this type.

Champion Iris, on the other hand, is a much more idiosyncratic Trainer. Due to her empathy with her Pokemon, she says she feels their pain as her own. As a result, she has developed a battle style based around an overwhelming first strike... and more importantly, she has become able to direct her Pokemon while they are still in their Pokeballs, allowing them to perform powerful strategies the very instant they are released from their balls.

What is your strategy? How do you show your individuality in a Pokemon battle? What do you do that no other Trainer can do?

Im always so delighted to remember that the blue meth in breaking bad was rock candy and the cast would constantly snack on it. It makes me want a show that uses breaking bad's insanely well crafted cinematography and wonderful writing but it's about an old witch and her young transgender apprentice opening a candy shop in a small village in the alps
