Los eventos gastronómicos de los últimos años han versado alrededor de la cocina mexicana. Si no se tratan de eventos relacionados a la cocina tradicional o contemporánea servida por cocineras o cocineros profesionales, ya es costumbre que se ofrezcan bocadillos, botanas o alimentos en general que versan alrededor de los tacos u otros elementos de la culinaria nacional.
Esta versión fue elaborada por el chef Pepe Salinas, de El Balcón del Zócalo, y es un homenaje a los bisteces encebollados o tacos placeros de muchos poblados de México. Se trata de carne troceada de primera calidad que se cocina rápidamente en plancha y se le añade una porción generosa de cebolla caramelizada para completar el bocado.

It was a great day yesterday, me and my dad went to a restaurant and we ate encebollado with chifles and bread, with a Coca-Cola, and also for the dinner, so we didn´t cook at hom and that´s why I saved water, I was with my dad walking around the city all day long so i didn´t take a shower, and that way I also save water

Bitch, Whats For Dinner?
Pairing: Lando Norris x Hispanic/Latina! Reader
Summary: Lando sees an old TikTok resurfacing and decides to prank his girlfriend for a quadrant video.
Warning: spelling and grammatical errors
A/N: this was originally going to be a Logan Sargeant fic but then I thought “what does he have to gain from this?” So I switched to Lando.

Since it was summer break, Lando decided it was time to film a video for Quadrant. He went to his gaming room to film the beginning.
“Since I am not racing for another few weeks, I thought what better time to prank my lovely girlfriend than today. There’s this TikTok posted by Dusten Conti where he says to his girlfriend ‘bitch, what’s for dinner?’ And his girlfriend actually answers him so sweetly. Knowing my girlfriend, she will not act so sweetly to me calling her a bitch, but I want to know how she reacts.” Lando said.
Y/N was out grocery shopping for dinner so Lando hid a video camera on a shelf, pointing the camera to the kitchen. She came home 10 minutes later and Lando decided to wait until he heard music playing because that means Y/N is on the preparation stage of cooking (chopping ingredients). Lando got out of his gaming room, observing Y/N chopping onions and tomatoes on the cutting board, singing along to whatever song she was playing. Lando made eye contact with the camera before saying the words..
“Bitch, what’s for dinner.” Lando said. Y/N put the knife down and looked around the apartment. “What are you doing?”
“Trying to see if there’s another person I don’t know about because I KNOW you did NOT just call me a bitch.” Y/N responded and picked up the knife. “So leave, come back, and try that again.” Y/N said, moving the knife as she talked. Lando did just that.
“What’s for dinner, baby girl?” Lando asked and Y/N smiled.
“That’s much better, fresita. I’m making bistec encebollado, It’s steak sautéed in onions and tomatoes with white rice. We can add a fried egg to it and make it ‘a lo pobre’ if you want, that’s how I’m eating it.” Y/N said. Lando hugged her from behind.
“I love you, baby girl.” Lando said.
“I love you too, mi vida, now why the fuck did you call me a bitch?” Y/N asked. Lando unwrapped his arms from her.
“I wanted to prank you for a quadrant video. Honestly, I expected you to react so much worse.” Lando said and Y/N turned to look at him.
“What do you take me for? I’m not a violent person, love.” Y/N said.
“Uh huh, I’ll believe you when you stop taking notes while watching true crime documentaries.” Lando said. Y/N hit him with a dish towel, causing Lando to laugh. “In all seriousness, if I ever end up calling you a bitch and it’s not a prank, I’ll give you full permission to kill me.”
“There are research chemicals that don’t show up in a toxicology screen. They’re the chemical cousins of drugs and since the molecules are modified, they don’t show up on tox screens unless you know what you’re looking for.” Y/N said with an innocent smile while Lando looks slightly terrified.
“You scare me.” Lando admitted.
“As I should. But I hate needles so I wouldn’t kill you like that.” Y/N said, turning back to resume chopping the vegetables.
“How would you kill me then?!?” Lando asked.
“Let it go, baby.” Y/N said. Lando went to the shelf and stopped the video from recording, placing it in his gaming room to charge,
After dinner, Lando and Y/N went to the gaming room to film the end.
“Thanks for watching, I just found out I am dating a psychopath.” Lando said and Y/N rolled her eyes.
“Please, anyone who has seen Criminal Minds would know about research chemicals and you literally gave me permission to kill you.” Y/N said.
“I didn’t know you actually thought about ways to kill someone!” Lando exclaimed.
“But now you know to never call me a bitch so, lesson learned.” Y/N said. Both said “bye” and waved to the camera. After transferring the video clips to his computer, editing the clips and posted it on the quadrant channel.

Chapter One.
The sounds of pots sizzling and popping filled the small apartment. A delicious scent filling the space as your fingers tapped against the counter staring blankly at the clock above the stove. Following the instructions your mother had wrote down years ago on the back of some paper bag came easily. You only wished she was next to you watching you finally take up cooking after years of neglecting your skills.
Searing both sides of the thin cut hanger steak, did you plop them back into the water filled pot. Grabbing the mixture of tomato sauce and homemade sofrito did you place a lid. The faintest of steam escaping as you turned away to peel, wash and slice the last yellow onion in your home. In the process of slicing did your phone ring causing you to flinch from the sudden noise.
"Hola Papa, que paso?"
"Que estas haciendo Mija?" His question caused you to raise an eyebrow. Was he going to hound you about eating again ? Or was he just bored out of his mind at home with your mother.
"I'm cooking right now. Do...Do you want to come over for some bistec encebollado?" Biting your lower lip did you manage to place the phone on speaker in order to complete the next step.
Place the onions in and mix until everything is covered in the sauce mi amor.
"You cook?" He teased above the clear sounds of his car door shutting. The sound of his feet dragging across some gravel before the heavy stomps only signafing he was going up a flight of stairs.
"Very funny, see you soon papa." You shouted back as you kept your focus on the meat and bubbling sauce. A small smile has tugged on your lips as you went back to staring blankly.
It took you a total of 35 minutes to fully cook the meal before plating it. Large circular plates without a chip in sight, the perfect pile of white rice in the center. Layered on top were four equally sliced pieces of steak, the sauce drizzled on top with a scoop of onions finishing the home cooked masterpiece.
"It smells good in here!" Your father shouted from the entryway.

"A las 8:30 I'll swing by to pick you up." Was the last thing you heard before running up the stairs towards the same beaten doors.
This run down building would be the death of you if you had to hear Ms. Mancini complain about her grown son and his addiction. That little Italian lady had way too much energy for you to keep up with. But, she was definitely a life saver as she took up so much time you didn't have to share shit.
Grabbing a cup of watered down coffee, or joe as the older people would tell you, did you find a seat. Nestling into the plastic chair was difficult but you managed. Ankles crossing while your arms rested on your chest folded. The cup held tightly in your left hand as you nodded your greetings towards the familiar faces of strangers.
Just as Marc began to do his usual introduction did the sounds of the door opening fill the space. Your eyes dragging upwards from your lap to take in the appearance of someone new. Tangled curls, chapped lips and the most bluest of eyes you’ve seen in a while. Tongue dragging across the inside of your mouth did you find yourself lost in them. Who even was this broken man!?
It wasn’t normal for the AA meetings to have new faces, always surrounded by the same five broken souls. Hearing the same god damn stories about survival guilt and addictions. Pitiful nods of agreement when you spill your guts out to a total stranger. What was the point of even being here.
“Excuse me?” Your voice wavered a bit as you snapped back into reality. Eyes looking for the source of the voice addressing you as the person with a “green army coat”
“I’m sorry, C-Can you repeat yourself?”
It felt like every last pair of eyes were burning holes into your face, you didn’t share much this meeting like all the others in the past. You only came because your annoying father would drop you off. His greying hair hiding his stone cold eyes as he would remind you he’d be back in an hour. It was always an hour. When did your life go to shit!?
The meeting unfolded just like every other meeting did. When it was time to part ways, you could see the strange man watching you. His cheeks were now a shade of red, his hair somehow became even more of a mess and yet he still looked handsome and broken. He didn’t speak much but, you could tell he was troubled and came at his own will.
“Mija, let’s go. Your mother is waiting for us.”
Your ears quickly became hot as you felt embarrassment consume your body. Mouth opening only to close just as quickly. It was embarrassing being in your late twenties and still having your father treat you like you were an infant. “Coming Papa.” You managed to yell back as you continued to look at the stranger. A surge of confidence overtook your usually calm and quiet demeanor, directly looking at those stunning blue eyes
“My names (Y/N) and I’m sorry for your pain.”

Carmen was rushing into the rundown building for the second time in his whole existence. He was a punctual man, always 10 minutes early to anything he had pre planned. Today was a complete 180. Natalie had to remind him a handful of times that there would be a meeting today across the city. That it would do him some good if he left on time to get there right when the meeting began.
Rounding the corner did he freeze under the startling gaze of the person whom he made eye contact with not long ago. Nervously licking his lips did he approach the circle apologizing under his breath. The seat beside you was empty, almost as if you were saving it for him. Patting the plastic chair did you tear your gaze away from his to focus on the man talking about his sister for the tenth time this year.
“Way to make an entrance big boy.” You whispered towards Carmen with a sly smile painted across your face. It was clear to you that he was under some distress due to the tardiness. Glancing over at him did you see his shoulders visibly relax from their tension. “Didn’t miss much, Ms. Mancini told us about her cat dying.”
The meeting continued to unfold in a rather uneventful manner. You refused to spill your guts to the room full of strangers, Carmen gave a vague answer to any questions. The both of you awkwardly content with hearing everyone’s worlds falling apart without disturbing your peace. Blue eyes would look into yours occasionally as if asking you if you heard the same sob story as he did. And for a time, this was how your interactions would unfold.
Carmen would show up roughly around the same time as you. You’d kiss your father’s cheek while mumbling a goodbye before walking in beside Carmen. You both didn’t truly know each other besides his brother was dead and your mother was dying. It was a mutual understanding and respect between two broken adults, there was no need to complicate things until that fateful evening.

#193 Taco campechano de milanesa de pollo con hígado de res encebollado con base de arroz a la mexicana.

TACOS DE GUISADOS Y CARNITAS EL ITACATE, puesto ambulante de 7 a 11:30 am en la plaza central de Atlacomulco, Estado de México.
Los tacos campechanos son una categoría de las taquerías que indica la combinación de dos elementos estrella del menú. En este caso, el elemento principal se trataba de milanesa de pollo elaborada con pechugas de pollo aplanadas, empanizadas y fritas en fritura media.
Para finalizar el taco se coloca una porción mínima -casi a suerte de aderezo o aliño- de hígado de res encebollado que aporta un sabor más intenso, férrico y dulzores propias de las cebollas.
Como base, se coloca una generosa porción de arroz a la mexicana o arroz rojo, que es arroz sofrito hasta dorar y luego cocinado con un caldo de pollo, caldillo de jitomate (jitomates molidos hasta convertirse en un caldo ligero y acuoso) que permitirá la coloración y sabor final.
Es común que en la categoría de TACOS DE GUISADOS, se ofrezcan diversas bases para cualquier guiso, generalmente arroz rojo o frijoles refritos, ya que permite incrementar el volumen, sabor y suculencia del taco ofrecido.

Bistec encebollado is one of those dishes that extends across the entire Latin diaspora. While every region may have its own nuances and techniques, the overall flavors are always delicious. The name is loosely translated as “steak with onions” and can usually be made with items that you already have on hand. And even though there may be simplicity in the ingredients, the end result will taste like you spent hours in the kitchen 😊😊😊
For my dish tonight, I used tenderized pieces of skirt steak that were marinated overnight in a blend of garlic paste, coarse sea salt, cumin, Mexican oregano, onion powder, black pepper, lime juice, adobo, white vinegar and Maggi jugo. I used white onions for this dish, but sweet Vidalia or yellows will work just as well. I also added a few sliced jalapeños for an added kick but, it’s completely optional.
I’m serving this with slow simmered black beans cooked with freshly prepared sofrito, Mexican rice, fresh pico de gallo and warmed flour tortillas. It’s not a traditional Sunday dinner around here, but I don’t think anyone’s complaining! 😂😂😂
