It's been years since I've danced Bomba. I'm so happy I was able to today and for such an important cause. It has been a year since the Haitian people have risen to denounce the corruption and denounce the direction that the country is heading in; a neoliberal one that is associated with the imperialism of North America and the IMF. The RCMP responded with violence to a legal blockade of illegal natural gas exploration. No treaties or accords have been signed allowing these things. Not even a facade of one like the legislation that allows the KXL pipeline to run through my people’s lands in Montana. Walking to Alcatraz seems better and better every day.
