Have you ever tried paper piecing? First, this picture was taken about a year and a half ago - it is not a fast process. Second, paper piecing is all hand sewing…no sewing machine…but I usually have some nervous energy in the evenings and hand sewing helps give my hands something to do. There's not been an image of the planet itself, so I based my fabric choices on volcanoes, lava, and fire given we were introduced to the Pyroviles inside Mount Vesuvius in "The Fires of Pompeii."

Inspitation from The Stolen Earth and Journey's End from the 4th season of the reboot.

Each rosette will be one of the 28 planets stolen (Spoiler Alert) by the Daleks to build the Doomsday Machine.

Sorry to disappear from IG for a bit — I’ve been making things, but mostly noodling around with nothing finished enough to show. But! I really love how this turned out and I think I’m gonna make some more (and maybe write up a pattern!) Behold: the Hex Bag, an English paper pieced dice bag with a hexagonal bottom. The outside is all EPP, and while I machine sewed the lining for this one I have an idea for how an EPP lining would work without a ton of extra handsewing.
