Fearne paused as Laudna did, their arms still gently looped together. It felt so much better that way like they were on a garden walk instead of the creepiest tunnel ever.

Her tail waggled anxiously when Laudna frowned and tilted her head. Her eyes were still that glossy, sightless black—vision lent to her familiar ahead. The odd purple gleam, faint and rarely there, was a reflection from Imogen’s lights. Had to be.

‘Laudna?’ Fearne stroked her shoulder, gave one of the golden chains of her corset a gentle tug while she had the chance. (Boy, they were really well attached. That would be some effort to take.) ‘Laudna? What is it?’

Laudna’s arm spasmed, tensed. Her free hand flung out and knocked painfully against the stone wall; she didn’t seem to notice, didn’t seem to care, only placed her palm more gently on the stone to hold herself steady. A delicate tremor ran through her, like she was cold. Freezing.

Fearne bit her lip. Then stepped closer, and wrapped her arms around her.

‘Laudna,’ she said again. Slid a warm hand beneath the heavy cloak. ‘Come back. What is it?’

Like an ice statue thawing, Laudna slipped more fully into Fearne’s arms. Tilted her head until it rested against her shoulder. The sharp chilly point of her nose grazed Fearne’s pulse, which jumped at their closeness. She couldn’t help it! Her friend was hot! Well, cold. But gorgeous, in a deliciously dark kind of way.

‘Are you alright? Did you see something?’ Fearne lifted her other hand to twirl one of Laudna’s flyaway strands. There was a little flinch as she neared Laudna’s ear—so little, she wouldn’t have noticed if Laudna weren’t half buried in her bosom—and she couldn’t help but lean in, press warm lips to Laudna’s forehead.

They stood there for a moment. The rest of the party was following, in the slow cautious way that the deep shadow forced. For this moment, they were alone, unseen.

Fearne wondered if that was a comfort. Laudna liked shadows. Didn’t she? It would be awfully sad if she didn’t, given everything about her.

‘Fearne?’

‘Mhm?’

‘I do love you so,’ Laudna croaked. ‘We - I don’t say it enough. I don’t show it enough. I hope you know.’

Fire scorched the walls of Fearne’s lungs, hot and sweet, licked up the length of her spine.

‘I know.’

‘You do?’

‘Of course.’ There was a lot she wanted to say—like, once when she was really little a monster made it into Ligament Manor and Nana had torn it to shreds and eaten every last bit of it and it was the safest she’d ever felt. So she did, adding, ‘I think you’re a lot like her. Super beautiful too.’

‘Not…a monster?’

Fearne shrugged. ‘If you mean evil, no.’ She scritched at Laudna’s back between her shoulder blades. If she took the time to carefully feel if there was a matching lump of scar tissue to the one on her sternum, well. Laudna didn’t notice.

Laudna sighed. Snuggled closer. ‘There’s a structure. A room, up ahead,’ she whispered, almost sing-song, tone sweet and sad and scared. She sounded so young. ‘With bodies. Dangling. On ro- chains.’

Fearne let the curl of hair drop from her finger and closed Laudna in a tight, warm hug. The fire came up from her lungs to her throat, but it didn’t feel as good anymore.

‘Don’t look,’ Fearne said, demanded, asked. Her voice trembled. ‘Don’t look at them anymore. Okay? Please?’

Laudna shook her head. ‘I must.’

‘No-‘

‘I must keep us all safe. Whatever the cost.’

Fearne felt the flame in her chest tremble. It always did, in a strong cold wind. Pushed in a direction. But she always found her way.

‘Okay.’ Fearne pressed another kiss to her forehead. ‘Laudna? I’m here. We’re all here. You’re not alone this time.’

Wait wait wait wait I’m so stupid. The reason Caleb kissed Essek on his forehead in ep97 is because that’s where he puts the pearl for fortunes favor and it’s a symbol of Essek getting a chance to change his fate WHAT

(cr2 rewatch update) got to the part in ep97 earlier in which tmn find out everything that essek did and how he betrayed them, worked with ludinus and ikithon etc, and it did not change how i felt about him. i feel so bad for beau and veth who are clearly the most hurt right in that moment at the idea of just letting things go. beau shakily saying that thousands are dead because of this :(( veth reminding everyone her husband was kidnapped because of this. and i very much understand where cad is coming from but he's removed from it all so.. beau and veth </3 .... but also rly like the moment of cad being vary wary about restarting a war trying to enact revenge (because yea, he's got a point) and then caleb saying to focus on doing anything that they can so no more children are ending up on the pyre, and cad saying "no more children on the pyre. i can get behind that" . (reminds me of when tmn first met him and were trying to convince him to help free everyone and he was like "well, i dont like cages" and decided right away). also my one hater moment was essek being like "im irredeemable :((((" and i was like true . only for him to continue that (paraphrasing) "if im found out ill be killed" .. hes not remorseful for the people he hurt (outside of tmn) hes just sad he got caught. he does basically say that too, that he doesnt regret what he did, just that he ruined his own friendship . girl i think there are bigger problems

Normally, the game rivals debut really late into a series, so it's really cool we're getting Nemona so early in the main anime. Hopefully, this means a decent amount of screentime for her ahead, tho idk if she'll become a rival to Liko or more of a mentor/ally, since we don't know if Liko will be taking on Gyms in the future. (We know Brassius battles someone in the preview, but Liko's not really ready for Gym Battles yet, so I think it'll be Nemona facing him.)

opinions on fish n chips

so i finally caught up on riptide in like. early january and have only really started rewatching now,, and i’m a huge navyseal guy but honestly fnc is pretty special to me and has been growing on me more as of late during my rewatch.

everyone was calling them the destiel of the jrwi multiverse and that joke has honestly made me love them more. i just think they’re insanely funny and sweet. and even though i think that there’s a lot of issues with other characters being pushed aside for prioritization of the Main Ship in a fandom, i get it. fnc. them.

also ensa asking “is that your boy?” and chip responding with “gillion? no, no, we’re just friends” when she wasn’t even asking about gillion is. insanely funny to me

tldr: fnc are aro4ace and i love them dearly ‼️‼️

Riptide ep97 spoilers, all the spoliers:

The subtle unreality in ep97 really made the nightmare so good. like the way that the guards acted just a little weirdly, the first few were so bad at combat but it could just be boiled down to their rolls. Then they walk into a room of them and none of them attack, they just sit there. Obv gillions nat 1s and the fact he pulled the wrong lever put everything at more unease.

Then it really ramped up as the gang leader literally ripped the skin off his face to show price and chip and jay going to such lengths to escape and then just dying on command, It feels believable that a character could do that but it’s still so unnerving and insane.

I did not realise it was a nightmare at all but it still felt so unreal like how you’d actually feel in a dream, and it’s because these situations are likely gillions actual anxieties, that his friends deaths will be completely out of his control and that he’ll fail at every important task needed of him even when given all the clues and answers, that’s what made it so hard to figure out that it’s a dream, because he genuinely believes something like this would happen despite how unrealistic it is.
