So today I went and saw the movie #blackkklansman it was a GOOD movie and just to what I thought the theater 🎭 was empty. Under 10 people with 2 people (white older men) walking out. But to what it says #blackkklansman is based off true events. The movie opens with in your face racism which I expected with a dialogue from #alecbaldwin . Without giving the movie away from which you already know or don’t Officer Ron Stallworth played by #johndavidwashington infiltrates the #klukluxklan to try to stop them. Laura Harrier #lauraharrier (from the new spider man movie plays Patrice a soul sister from the local university. Adam Driver #adamdriver (Star Wars villain) plays detective Flip who helps Officer Stallworth infiltrate. #coreyhawkins plays stokely Carmichael gives a good speech on black power and self love. Jasper Paakkonen #jasperpääkkönen plays Felix the Strong minded KKK member who is determined to Make America Great. But all and all this movie will cause an unwanted conversation for the uneasy. For whites I doubt many watch it for the name alone. For blacks it’s not the sexy Wakanda choice. Talk Berty to me: Epic theatre

Ok, so, Epic theatre. To be honest, I didn't really invent it, but I did make it a famous drama style, so it counts. Basically, it's a form of drama presenting a series of somehow connected scenes, which often interrupt the story line to directly address the audience with various arguments, analysis, and perhaps even just documentation. 

My intention was to appeal to my audiences intellect, by presenting moral problems and reflecting on social realities on the stage. I aimed to block their emotional responses, and try to hinder their ability to empathize with the audience. I attempted to do this by using 'alienating' and 'distancing' effects, which made the audience really reflect on the argument, understand it, and draw conclusions. 

Many have commented saying that my style was a direct contrast to Stanislavsky's. He tended to make the performance as natural as possible, to make the audience believe that what was happening was real. Apparently his work was good too, but I'll stick by my own work, thanks.

Epic Theatre proposed that a play should not cause the spectator to identify emotionally with the characters or action before him or her, but should instead provoke rational self-reflection and a critical view of the action on the stage. Brecht thought that the experience of a climactic catharsis of emotion left an audience complacent. Instead, he wanted his audiences to adopt a critical perspective in order to recognise social injustice and exploitation and to be moved to go forth from the theatre and effect change in the world outside. For this purpose, Brecht employed the use of techniques that remind the spectator that the play is a representation of reality and not reality itself. By highlighting the constructed nature of the theatrical event, Brecht hoped to communicate that the audience's reality was equally constructed and, as such, was changeable.
