Ferrari (dir. Michael Mann).
There are plenty of swerves and detours to Ferrari's spare Italian drama. Built like an eventual tragedy with an uplifting hopefulness to the real-life fate of its characters, Mann and [Adam] Driver rebuild another sprawling biopic that manages to focus on outracing its turbo-charged mid-century automobiles.

. Stick to your plan. Anticipate, don't improvise. Trust no one. Never yield an advantage. Fight only the battle you're paid to fight.

Ferrari (15): Enzo Juggling with Debt and Frenetic Parallel Lives.
#onemannsmovies #filmreview of "Ferrari". #FerrariMovie. A much better movie than other critics led me to believe. Enjoyed this. 4/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Ferrari” (2023). This was my last cinema trip in 2023. Given the ‘ho-hum’ reviews about Uncle Michael’s new film*, I was in a bit of trepidation about going to see “Ferrari”. But I actually found it a really solid watch. It’s a bit like John Frankenheimer’s motor-racing epic “Grand Prix” from 1966…. a bit of action mixed with some heavy doses of melodrama. But…

Cinematographer for the upcoming FERRARI movie Erik Messerschmidt says they filmed the violent car crash from the 1957 Mille Miglia race in one take.
“We only had one shot at it. We waited and waited and then we did the shot. Turned out the car landed exactly where the special effects team had predicted it would land. It was extraordinary. I’d never seen anything like it.”

The Killer: Fincher's Further Descent into Hitchcockian Thrillers
David Fincher's latest thriller is finally out on Netflix! It's good, but feels like a disappointment considering the directors esteemed recent work. Consider watching the film and then reading my review!
A nameless assassin (Micheal Fassbinder) waits in an abandoned building, day and night, to kill an unnamed target. He narrates to us, or perhaps to himself, that it is exhausting doing nothing, maintaining a routine of surveillance and existence before a killing. He listens to playlists based on his mood, each likely populated exclusively by The Smiths songs, while stating mantras to himself…

‘The Killer': be a killer, not a quitter
Every profession has moments of despairing solitude, a bracing space of introspection even as the job to be executed looms in front: a deadline here, a timeline there, a boss here, the promise of a paycheck there. Something falls into place in these silent spaces of time versus workload, a brief moment of frisson that shoots over the drudgery of it all, and the job’s done.  In director David…

Ferrari Review- A Subpar Biopic About A Flawed Man And His Angry Wife
I’ve seen a few movies about car company owners in recent years. Last year, Lamborghini came out starring Frank Grillo, and a few years back.  Ford V Ferrari was released. Now a more in-depth film about Enzo Ferrari is coming out from Michael Mann and starring Adam Driver as the titular car company owner. This may have been more about his relationship with his wife and business partner than cars…

Plot: Based on the graphic novel by Alexis Nolent, director David Fincher’s latest delves audiences into the world of the eponymous Killer (Michael Fassbender). When a job in Paris goes disastrously awry, the blowback stretches all the way to The Killer’s home. Bent on revenge, The killer begins a methodical pursuit of his targets including fellow assassins The Expert (Tilda Swinton) and The…

The Killer Review: Fassbender Leaves A Trail of Dead in Fincher's Dreamy Adaptation
“He knows so much about these things” The Killer (Netflix) is divided into Five Chapters with an Epilogue. With the source material being Le Teuer, a French comic book by Matz and Luc Jacamon, it seems most fitting. We are immediately given the title credits. It’s been a veritable dog’s age since last I’d seen a movie without a cold open or the title at the very end, so this was a total breath of…
