This is a first version and we are upset and a little disappointed at the lack of information available on the subject.

May 21, 2023 from Siracusa, Sicily. Very damp and windy here and not much better weather in sight until tomorrow.

We had an interesting Airbnb room last night without a window and the only natural ventilation appeared to be up the sewer pipe vent tower. And of course with the weather, we didn’t want to turn on the AC particularly given that there were only sheets on the bed.

Today will be another test of our ability to roll with the punches and keep hoping it’s getting brighter out. We might pass on the car trip to Ragusa, Noto and Modica if it doesn’t. Here’s a photo review of our walk yesterday.

Update: I need to recall a funny story in hindsight.

We stopped for a beverage and snacks along the windy waterfront in Ortegia, the old city of Siracusa, at a wine bar equipped with a a plexiglass patio shelter. I complained about grit on the table, in my eyes (because all my glasses are broken at this point) and noticed black grit on Craig’s hat and jacket. We all agreed it must’ve been sand. Little did we know this is volcanic ash blowing in from Etna’s eruption earlier that day. 🌋

To the anon who sent in an ask about Persephone (Proserpina) earlier - I think there are lots of interesting ties to this in the Karma music video.

There are many connections here, but maybe I can highlight a few things. One of Persephone’s symbols is a torch. Two anons recently mentioned torches. Another symbol is seeds. Persephone returns from the underworld during spring. Many mentions of seeds and spring from our anons. Ice Spice’s real name is Isis, I believe. Persephone is connected to the goddess Isis. And, of course, Hades/the underworld. Hades/Dis/Pluto kidnapped Persephone and dragged her into Mount Etna 🌋 /the underworld. Mount Etna is said to be the entrance to the underworld. There are many different myths about this depending on where you read. Persephone was picking flowers and being childlike when it happened. Reminds me of the open book scene in Karma. So, have I solved anything? Nope, but I can absolutely recommend a visit to Taormina for breathtaking views! 😅💯
