I did to imagine 10 years after the Acftl that Evajacks are married with a couple of kids and their favorite relative is “Uncle Luc.”

Like he’s cannonly a goofball and funny and always getting on Jacks last nerve so I just know the kids would love him.

Misato and Shinji's relationship is probably my favorite in all of Eva and it is not talked about enough.

It's so fascinating, heartwarming and tragic. She gave him a surrogate mother figure who made him feel like family for the first time in his life and she got someone who loved her as more than an object. They were so close to helping eachother through the things that absolutely plauged their lives with this surrogate family relationship and it is utterly tragic how it all came crashing down because they didn't know how to navigate themselves through the horrible circumstances they were in at the end. God I wish more people talked about them without mischaracterizing them or boiling them down to memes. It pisses me off so much when that's the only thing people talk about with them.

not to make angst out of a fucking gag but also thinking about the silly au rei in the final episode makes me think about how different rei would be if she didn’t have literally the worst dad ever. like, no, she probably wouldn’t have been the upbeat adhd whirlwind in the high school au lmao. but it does just make me think. because while all the pilots lives are incredibly marked by trauma, rei's the only one to have never had access to any sort of normal life. her entire personality and worldview is shaped from being isolated, groomed, and taught to see herself as a tool and not a person. and then i just get so sad that she never had any chance of a normal life where she could discover herself and what she is. she went from being abused and manipulated by gendō (which is made even worse with the implications certain scenes leave about their relationship) to becoming god. she never had any chance of living a normal life. and just like. fuck.

Eva isn't really close to her family. She's adopted and she never met anyone from her parents family, no aunts or uncles, cousins or grandparents. She cares about her mother and father because they gave her a nice house and food and a good education (though they were quite admant in her aether manipulation but she never showed any talent for it ) but when she was honest with herself, she realised that the scions became more her family that the people who actually raised her. She feels like she was never able to truly trust them and that there was always a secret that they were keeping from her.
