the adaptation team working overtime to make the relationship between javier and lloyd look so much less deeper than it actually is in the novel makes the novel look so much gayer than it already did on its own. like. sorry but your attempts to cover up the homoerotism just makes it stand out more in its absence.

because if there truly was nothing remarkable about lloyd and javier's relationship and they were just very good friends and nothing else then why take the time and effort to change it in the adaptation so they look less close than they actually are.

why skip entire scenes that make their relationship deeper. why change their dialogue and thoughts so they're less invested in one another. why give interactions that they had with each other to their romantic interests. actually why give javier a whole new love interest that did not exist in the novel.

why go through so much trouble to change something that is so important in the source material if there truly was nothing else going on in the novel.

what was it about their relationship that made the adaptation team decide they just needed to change everything about it so they weren't as close and attached as they were originally.

if they were truly nothing but platonic with each other in the source material then why change their relationship so much in the adaptation that it's almost unrecognizable.

what about it did they find so unappealing that they simply had to modify it until it was but a shadow of itself.

in trying to cover up something they only managed to call attention to it by the people who knew what was there originally. now we know that they wanted to get rid of it so badly they were willing to butcher the story and plot for it.

I remember many times when my grandmother would make off hand remarks about how testosterone would make me look like a joke. that it would be funny and unnatural for someone like me to have a beard.

That happened 2 years ago. i have very real trauma from that day.

They never cared about my gender nonconformity until i came out.

lately it's been so frustrating being on sm such as instagram bc everyone's soooo negative in the comments. like… the amount of body/appearance shaming i've been seeing is ridiculous. i'd see it on desi accounts at first (unfortunately many desis do comment on appearance, like skin colour, weight etc a lot :( i experienced it growing up, as well), saying things like 'pretty sure that actress didn't get married to this multi billionaire for his face 🤪' and they find it soooo funny. and when someone speaks up in the comments and calls these posts problematic, others respond with shit like 'can't take the truth huh?' or 'i'd be saying the same with your face' etc like ????? WHY SO MEAN

and it's not just that tbh?? it's literally anything. some make family content, like they have these extremely wholesome videos with their kids and partners, but you'll still find a bitter audience in the comments arguing that the content creators are money hungry and 'only want attention' like 😭

can't we just live and let live and enjoy the little things in life and learn to love them </3

something i enjoy about suits is that these mike and harvey are literally drawn to each other because they both love a good adrenaline rush. like, mike was the one who talked harvey into giving him a job despite having zero qualifications other than his insane memory, and yet harvey already had at least 75% made up when he shook mike's hand. harvey talks about how life is like this and he likes living like this, and mike talks about how he got kicked out of a life that he's been chasing ever since. they're both scrambling after some kind of insane life and mike will say that he wants to help people (and he does! i think he really does!), but he's also the insane guy who tells himself he's helping people by also lying his way into the system in the first place. he's a guy who likes to bend the rules to get at his larger goals, and harvey's the guy who sees most rules as gentle suggestions more than anything else, so long as he just wins. they're both insane! they feed into each other's insanity! mike can play coy and pretend he'll leave harvey eventually, but then harvey wheedles his way back into mike's life with another offer or plan or suggestion and mike will go "no, harvey, i like my peaceful life right now" and then an episode later be like "nvm. what are we doing now". i'm sick to the stomach because they're literally always going to be like this. they aren't escaping each other because they recognize each other for the insane high they both want. they're literally obsessed with each other

i will say though that while i understand wanting morty to be rewarded just once for daring to be curious and deal with the consequences after (the best he can. even if there's very little he's able to do that will affect the grand scheme of things and it's his grandpappy doing most of the heavy lifting anyway, science-wise i mean).. i don't know how someone could watch this show and expect a simple optimist message at any point ? like finding some of rick and morty comforting doesn't mean it's an objective of it to offer comfort, i think it's been praised for the opposite even, for finding a balance between a certain melancholy and stupid fun
