Okay, I have an AU in my head rn. Its Evil Kai centric obviously but I wanted to push his elemental power to the limits since it's very obvious that his limits are way over than what we've been shown. If he defeated a whole ice dragon at his weakest, imagine what he could do at his strongest.

Maybe it'll be in the same vain as Nya merging with the sea but not really. Its more of, Kai's powers goes to the point where anything related with fire can be controlled which doesn't sound like a lot but remember, I'm saying ANYTHING. I was gonna say lava is too but that's also in Cole's reign and I'm not really sure how to flesh that out yet. Maybe something like manipulating him into joining forces out of desperation or like a self sacrifice.

I'm planning this to come after Nya's merging with the sea and a way to delve into his grief better. So here's how his arc is planning to be:

Kai always protected any of his younger siblings, Lloyd or Nya or anyone really. After he failed to protect his own sister, his own blood, he thought himself as powerless. During possession, he knew there was a way to get Lloyd back but after Nya's presumed permanent merging, he knew he couldn't do anything. He doubted himself and his capabilities. Out of this self-loathing, he started training harder either out in the open or in his own room.

Everyone was grieving obviously but failed to see Kai eye-to-eye since he just kept it to himself: not wanting the others to see his weakness out of that obsession with being stronger. He couldn't grieve properly or get help or anything like that, bottling it up inside him and with that bottling up of his emotions he started getting more and more angry. Upset at himself, upset at Nya, upset at everyone because they did nothing.

Kai took a breather and thought on how he can't do his job if he's like this. So, with a heavy heart, he left despite him being an essential part of the team. The team stayed strong, even without them and now had to put in extra effort for the empty space left behind.

In his own life, Kai kept training however. He still wanted to be strong, feeling a need for revenge. Even if he saw Kalmaar being eaten and Wojira destroyed, bringing him with her. Kai essentially disappeared, cutting ties with his friends, family and just didn't talk to anyone. When the team try and look for him, they got reports of him being sighted doing ordinary things, as if he wanted to put the Ninja life behind.

Then, one night on the day of the departed, Kai sat by the sea like usual until he heard a voice, so beautiful and majestic and felt like home. It sounded too much like Nya. He thought he'd finally lost it until the waves responded to his heart. It sounded as if the sea was speaking to him. Be one, be with me, together. And then, silence.

This took too much of a toll on him, it's as if the spirit of his sister was haunting his mind, telling him to be stronger so he could be one iwth his element. He started training more, working harder, getting stronger until one day he decided to give his powers a try one more time. He denied himself of its use, years of associating elemental powers with the loss of his sister. Her powers being the exact reason she left. What came through was huge fires of unimaginable strength, it could've easily decimated an entire acre of greenery. And he didn't even try.

That thirst for power became more sinister, he wanted more, to be more. So he set out to find a way to truly be strong again. Until, he looked up and saw the sun. This glowing ball of hot fire, metal and gas that pulls everything in space around it, being so far away yet it's smothering heat could burn ones skin. Anything that comes close is instantly incinerated, untouched. If only he was as powerful as the sun, pure unfiltered power of fire. He didn't want to be one with it, no, he wanted to get a hold of its power.

And so, the crown for the King of the Sun was placed on his head.

Now, this is just the basic premise, some of it is not completely fleshed out but I wanted to know if any of yall would actually want content of this. Kai being like a fire emperor except the staff is his own mind. He also starts a cult at one point as well as raising an army. Not sure how but there must be some sort of religion in Ninjago that worships the sun, right? His arc is all gonna be about how not everyone can be strong for everyone all the time, not only giving himself a break and understanding that rest is vital but also, an obsession with being better or stronger can push yourself away from others. I wanted to make Lloyd the one to make him accept that not only because he is closest to him, but also because he is like his other younger sibling, making him realize that he pushed away the one he was supposed to protect.

NTK/No Trauma Kai: Kai doesn’t experience any of the traumatic events that made Kai who she is today.

Evil Kai: self explanatory, Kai’s not the hero she is and is instead The Destroyer Of The Multiverse.

Rotten Kai: Everyone Kai holds dear to her abandons her for 10+ years, leaving her to rot in Unington. She stays, hoping that everyone will return eventually.

Ego Kai: Kai is more self-centered and egotistical.

NAK/No Accident Kai: Most of the other events that happened to Kai happened, except for The Accident that set Kai in motion.

Cabinet Kai: Based on the song “Cabinet Man” by Lemon Demon, essentially, Kai is killed and she lives on through an arcade machine.

Infected Kai: Kai is infected by the apotheosis.

Good for her! Also I thiiiink in her universe Hatchetfield is a series of musicals?? She might freak so like be warned. We call her Dean cause she’s the only Kai who still uses that last name.

she’s a god (like every Kai) but in this universe, the gods said YOINK and took her to the heavens and raised her as a god! She’s technically the oldest of us cause she’s, like, 999 years old, but she’s got the brain of a human 9 year old, so we don’t really count it. She’s a baby!!!

ROTTEN!

Here’s the one we regard as the oldest! Rotten’s 30! Her thing is, in her universe, all her friends and family abandoned her (along with everyone else in Unington) for like 10 years leaving her to rot :( she’s a real sweet gal, if not a bit overcompensating, but shes awesome! I haven’t posted much in a while but I made this!!

It’s a big long story to go over, but this is basically a Ninjago AU! Kai goes evil. Yada yada. Y’know?

I’ll probably make more art sometime for this, but here’s this for now!

Kai- Took Chen’s place, killed him for the staff and is slowly collecting the powers of all the elemental masters he can locate.Corrupted by the staff, he rules over Chen’s island. Skylar does her best to keep his mind in tact but her efforts lately seem to be more and more useless against the staff.

Jay- Overthrew Nadakhan’s ship and crew. Had his mind twisted by the abuse he faced from the retired crew members. Probably keeps Nadakhan’s teapot on his hip at all times. Maybe talks to it every once in a while, or throws it against a wall when he’s angry.

Cole- He just wanted to learn more about his mother.

Zane- S11 but it’s in an isolated corner of Ninjago instead of the neverrealm. Maybe a Two Moon village/neverrealm fusion. A man who wandered the world without direction settles in the village. Vague instructions in his mind telling him to protect. He finds the staff early on, it having thought to be disposed of long ago. It seeming to be harmless by non-elementals. He gets a hold of it and keeps it. The village will be protected, whether they want it or not.

Lloyd- It’s his duty to reunite the elemental masters. Somehow.

Nya was long gone, taken with her parents when Kai was abandoned. :>

Ive had this Au idea in my head for a lil while and after doing some work on it i have decided to share it with you guys.

I proudly present:

The fractured Jay Au

(Huge shoutout to the very talented @sketchalicious. not only was this drawing based off one of their own but they were also one of the biggest inspirations for this Au. Go check em out they make awesome stuff) After the ninja Recuse Jay, his entire mental state collapses from the stress of flashbacks and visions after which, he goes into a comatose state. The ninja must now enter his mind to help him wake up. There, They find not only Jay, but six different versions of him. all of which represent their own guilts and traumas as well as Jays own too. The Ninja (now separated) must fight the one that represents them most and try to get every Jay to accept themselves.

The ninja also find out about the events of skybound through this whole ordeal; In Nyas case, having to relive it while also seeing what Jay went through on the Misfortunes keep.

The idea is that, Out of every ninja Jay holds the most baggage but does not show it, instead keeping it hidden very deep in his brain and I’m tired of people pretending like he doesn’t 😔

I will now Explain them in detail. Starting with:

The chosen one "Guilt ridden"

Fun fact: According to an old blooper reel, Jay was originally gonna be the green ninja; But the writers changed it to lloyd for a better surprise. Doesn’t take away from the fact that Jay looks good in green however.

This Jay is supposed to be a Representation of Lloyd, more specifically The weight lloyd has on his shoulders. Having to be the savior of ninjago (now the merged realms) can take a toll on a person; Lloyd is also now a sensei in training which has not helped his mental state at all; eventually bound to snap one way or another. And at one point there will be a battle he cannot win no matter how hard he tries.

From jays side, TCO is supposed to be a representation of His thoughts about how he has failed Lloyd and the others on several occasions (Releasing aspherra, Prime empire, letting Nya die twice, etc.) and how he solely Blames himself for it. All his self doubts telling him he’ll never be good enough, Among other things, in the forms of Twisted/Tainted visions of the other ninja and his parents. Making him go insane and he eventually snaps, succumbing to the delusion that in order to ever be good enough for Anyone he has to take over being the green ninja. But deep down he knows that the others will always care about him no matter what.

Worst case Scenario (CC for short) “The Sacrifice"

This one’s design wasn’t based off anything too important, I just think that Kai would be the second Ninja to become Undead.

CC represents Kai’s inability to let others sacrifice for him. While Kai is a hero through and through and will do anything for his family, he’s also selfish in the way that he doesn’t want the others to do the same for him Always insisting that it should have been him instead. CC looks like someone who has sacrificed too much without letting others help them. (Bit of a stretch i know)

In terms of Jay, CC is supposed to represent Denial. His skeletal remains are the Result Of what happens to someone who thinks “it should have been me” over every situation, Someone more... Expendable. A repeating memory of Nya dying in his arms keeps playing in his head. Losing flesh and organs after sacrificing himself to Defeat the Overlord; His skeleton Gains a fraction of his power that keeps him alive. But in the end it does not matter because he couldn’t save the one person most important to him, Nya. Jay knows no matter how many “What if” Scenarios happen in his head, the past is in the past and he must look on to the future, but can’t bring himself to after the many losses he’s Endured.

Agent walker "left to rot"

Design of course was based off our very own amnesiac Jason Walker, The current Manager of the administrations realm of reassignment.

Agent Walker is Everything Zane Dreads about himself; Becoming Cold and mechanical with no emotion. Agent Walker is Essentially a repeat of the Ice emperor. A once heroic individual Who forgot themselves and Changed because of Evil influence. Zane dreaded being the ice emperor and does not want any of his family to go through what he went through. Unfortunately, Jay is already halfway there. while we do not know if Agent Walker is truly corrupt due to the administration, Jay is Very much morally Gray, As out of every Ninja his moral compass is the weakest.

Having severe abandonment issues, Agent Walker Represents Jays Fear of being Forgotten about by his family, Essentially becoming a memory. that fear is realized once he spends a long time in the administration and no one has found him yet. Hence the Tagline, “Left to rot”. Having everyone Move on without him (especially Nya) Hurts So Badly that He Forces himself to forgot about the others and hoping the pain will eventually go away. Jay of course knows that His family and Yang could never forget about him, But doubts plague his mind telling him otherwise.

The Infiltrator “No Destiny"

Based off the (now very official) Evil Jay Figure which was recently leaked. The shirt was too hard to get right for me, so I decided to use my own design for it.

The infiltrator, A Strange Figure Who wields lightning powers. Hired by lord Ras; The same person who Went for Coles second family. This adds insult to injury in terms of their friendship.

This Jay pulls the same type of act that Cole does in DotD; By Doing something as drastic as Teaming up with a person who he knows has bad intentions just to be recognized outside of his feats at the administration and to be able to freely use his powers.

Representing Coles guilt, This Jay Has cemented himself as an enemy to the ninja and no longer an ally Forcing The battle to be painful for the Ninja. Especially Cole. However this Jay is not tethered to his relationships with them and will not hold back against those who oppose his leader

(Note: Not much is known about Jays motives or really anything about his evil character in part 2. This part might be rewritten later once we get a more clear view of his character.)

The infiltrator Is a manifestation of Jays fears about him going rouge/ Evil, So far almost all of the ninja Have Gone through their Evil “phase” and eventually, Jay must walk down that path. He feels hopeless however as without his memories he feels trapped; fettered to always serving a higher power Having No destiny To achieve thus Staying evil indefinitely.

Jay of the storm "Shameful woes"

This Jays design was inspired by some of the Seabound Aus I’ve seen and read. Much like Nyas design, He has Semi-lightning shaped hair and Lightning related body marks all over. he looks like a painting to show his coping mechanism When Nya was gone; Which was painting Portraits of her and him to ease his pain.

This one’s quite simple, Even after Becoming human again, Nya still harbors guilt for what she caused her family to go through And how much her sacrifice meant to everybody in ninjago. This Jay is supposed to represent her feelings about the whole situation and showing her a different perspective; one where Jay sacrificed himself instead of her. Of course in this made up timeline, Jay thinks of his sacrifice as Meaningless compared to Nyas. Thinking that the team moves on very quickly from what happened (Yes even Nya) and it eventually gets swept under the rug.

Further from the truth, Nya tries to convince Jay that this would never be the case. her words fall on deaf ears however, as Jay continues to lament in his own self pity.

Jay of the storm Is the personification of his shame and worry about him being a bad partner and an even worse teammate; Thinking of himself as worthless and nothing more than a deadweight To his family and his Yang. He thinks this way due to his biggest mistakes and how they led to so many bad things happening. (Especially Nyas deaths.) “I wish I could sacrifice to you as much as you have for me.” Nya has done so much for him and he thinks that he has done nothing in return. So maybe sacrificing himself could make him seem all noble and heroic once and for all. But he knows that he has done incredible feats and cannot blame himself for everything bad that has happened in their lives.

Nya will always love him And He’ll always love her, no matter how much the universe wants to seperate them they'll find each other eventually.

??? “Fractured beyond repair”

This design was based off The common trope of an alternate version of someone being their own shadow.

The real Jay (or At least a part of him), hidden deep inside his own Brain. living in denial of himself and being incomplete as his Whole Soul and memory was split into 5 different pieces representing his Repressed Thoughts.

Black as ink with a texture of tar, This Jay Is barely humanlike. Shutting himself out from anyone or anything trying to interact with him preferring to Wish it all away instead of Trying to fix all the issues he has caused. They say that when the Other 5 Make amends and come to terms with themselves, he will be let out of his cage like a wild animal. for better or for worse? Well there’s no clear answer for that. (Codeword for if I plan to expand this and write an actual fan fic)

Thank you for reading my hyperfixiation. while i do think this Au could never work in canon, Its very fun to think about it as jay probably has the most repressed trauma of all the ninja. plus its an Au for a reason.

THIS IS SO REAL BAHSHAHSHHA Kai having trouble restarting his fire powers but then his family gets put in fatal danger and have used every last trick and he Becomes Insane I guess. SERIOUSLY THO WHY DID HIS EYES TURN RED THE ONLY OTHER TIME THAT HAPPENED WAS WHEN HE WAS BEING POSSESSED BY CHENS STAFF.... 👀👀 did the elemental power take hold of him too strongly then? Because I feel like maybe. all that fire. wasn't very healthy for His Body. Like I think this may have various adverse effects. But the concept of being so consumed by your elemental power due to emotions/adrenaline/access to a lot of elemental power (both with Chen's staff and with the buildup from his unused fire) and it just. BURSTING out of you and the emotion taking control of your actions is very compelling. It worked in his favor here, bc the strong emotion was Him Being Insane About His Family, but we've seen him be consumed by a negative emotion this same way.

Also, Kai's the only one this has happened to, BOTH times. Idk, I thought it was cool.

Okay.. Okay okay okay, but:

The Ninja being hated instead of praised. Listen, just- Just listen, okay? Going based off of the song "Enemy" by Imagine Dragons, just- It's- Okay, I'm not good at explaining things, BUT, I am good at writing.

The news twisted everything. With the coming of the ninja, everyone seemed to hate them, focusing on the smaller things like destroyed buildings and crashed parties, rather than looking to how they saved the city from a humongous snake, or the overlord! The negatives, never the positives.

And that was the messed up part about it.

Constantly, the group received praise outside of the gis. They weren't ninja full time, only when the time called. When did the time not call for it? Everyone in the group had somewhere to fall to. Jay with his parents and inventing in the junkyard. Cole with his dad and pushing through training. Kai at a noodle place in town. Nya at a nearby tea shop. Lloyd fell as a groundskeeper for the monastery. Zane worked in a graveyard to keep in town.

Each praise felt dull and backhanded to them for how good of a job they did. Each news article felt like a stab in the heart.

Yet they pushed through, everyday. Saving those of Ninjago despite how vicious and loudly their cries rang. They had each other to build up.....

But when one pillar falls, the rest is bound to crumble.
