@tmaynt Challenge: Day 26 - Favorite Series
I wouldn't be half the artist I am today had it not been for me catching the premiere of the 2012 series all those years ago. that show still means everything to me

Something really great about the persona 2 cast is that they all individually fucking SUCK to talk to casually. Every single one of them. They are all infuriating. We have:
Tatsuya, who will stare at you blankly if you try to initiate conversation (IS) and will dip without saying a word afterward (EP)
Batsuya, who will scoff and brush you off/otherwise act dismissive
Eikichi, who might honestly be the best to talk to in the IS crew and that is not saying much, who WILL talk extremely loudly over you (probably not on purpose?) and will not be paying particularly close attention to the conversation beyond whatever he wants to say (gets points for talking about his gf. gets points taken away for constantly talking about his gf)
Lisa, who will automatically assume bad faith and will be rude to you the entire conversation unless you manage to defuse her temper (good luck)
Jun, who is uncommunicative at BEST and requires an encyclopedic knowledge of flowers, metaphor and body language just to get a HINT on what he’s thinking, and who will be extremely polite but completely unhelpful. If you tried asking him what he wants for dinner I guarantee it will be the longest 30 minutes of your life as he goes “oh I have no opinion :) whatever you want. :))” EXCEPT HE DOES HAVE OPINIONS. He has SO MANY OPINIONS. He is Expecting you to be able to pick up on his “obvious” clues. He will be passive aggressive if you don’t. (Jun babygirl you suck so bad I love u)
Maya, who is a delight but will very quickly become grating if you try to talk to her about anything serious as she hits you with the white suburban mom's "how to live a happy, healthy life" lifecoach slogans. You can’t even mention, like, stepping in a puddle or something without her hitting you with the positivity beam.
Yukino is great actually. 10/10. She’s fabulous we love her. Incredible conversationalist, chill and fun and easy to get along with. But she’s from Persona One, she doesn’t Count.
Ulala, who WILL bring up her relationship problems in every conversation within 10 minutes at least once. Any longer and she will start talking about Maya.
Do I even need to explain Baofu. Have you seen him.
And finally, Katsuya, who is a cop and a kiss ass and Very Obvious about these things. Also he can't talk to women. He can barely talk to men. Help Him.
And yet they all work wonderfully as a group. They are so annoying I love them

One thing that I think is really good about Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright, is how hard the game can lean into certain themes and ideas due to its setting.
Like obviously all ace attorney games have whacky court proceedings, but plvspw really dials up the drama. You walk into the courtroom and immediately see the previous defendant thrown into a pit of fire while she begs for mercy. The defendant dangles in a little metal cage. The trial is only a showcase by the inquisition, before they sentence the next witch to die. The multiple witnesses that talk all over each other and contradict each other, openly plot with each other to get their story straight.
The sense of hysteria in the witness testimonials is especially good, I feel. Like there's fear and anger and conviction and indignation in everyone. Everyone already knows the truth, right? So you play the part, get caught in it and tell what you think must have happened. What sets it apart from other aa games in that respect is that very little of that testimony is a purposeful lie. Unlike in Labyrinthia, in the US/Japan (almost) everyone commits perjury on purpose, simply disguising their perfect recollection of events. Plvspw really digs into manipulated memories and how you yourself can be easily manipulated by the given narrative.
We see this with Luke. Luke isn't lying because he's hiding something, or for some nefarious purpose. He's a good kid. We know Luke. He's our puzzle solving friend. He's scared and angry and in grief. He doesn't realise what's happening, or what he's part of. A literal witch hunt.
For a game series that's so focused on law enforcement, I think this is a really interesting avenue to explore, and something I wish the mainline series did a little more of.

Good god I love how everything in the world is so fucking blatantly inverse to whatever the shit is happening on this hellsite. I will talk with irl people, see irl news, see a consensus of opinion regarding some media or subject, read some research articles about something, anything, and then say to all that 'excuse me, I must away to the upside down world' and hop into here only to get smashed by the toxic train that is every opposite opinion and perceived reality to anything I've experienced thus far with my five physical senses on earth

caine is a very calm, collected, stoic individual. it takes a lot to get him caught openly off guard or flustered.
getting picked up and kissed by a villain a foot shorter than him with no prior warning would do the trick tho
mitchel belongs to @hyper-pixels! i Did have ideas before this but unfortunately for caine all of them got thrown out of the window when i got this notif

sudden thoughts of wei wuxian being jin zixuan's first laid. wwx that gets around + the man who's always having an excuse of "waiting for the right person", except his ridiculous crush on the jiang siblings and the heat of the moment make up for the most wholesome hate sex that wwx ever experienced

persona 4 COULD have been a groundbreaking game in late 2000's early 2010's. it could have been a " mainstream " (mainstream in moderately sized quotes!) game that showed complex, flawed queer people as the main characters. but it doesn't. it heavily implies its characters are queer, changes its mind, and then produces some of the most homophobic and transphobic writing you've seen in a long time. persona 4 wants to make something beautiful so bad but it feels like its too afraid to actually do anything and ends up going back to its old homophobic/transphobic tropes.

I know absolutely fuck all about vghs, however I want to hear you talk about it >:3
Video Game High School is an indie web series developed by living God Freddie Wong and it's absolutely fucking insane. It's one of those shows that I forget about but every few years or so it re-enters my brain and reminds me that it's funny as fuck and used to be a major comfort show.
We should watch it together sometime or watch the first episode and then I get distracted by a bunch of other bull shit and it takes us an hour to get through 15 minutes of content

spinny!! I’m curious, what got you into the lion guard?
EHEHEE YAY I LOVE ASKS LIKE THIS!! don't mind me rambling about how i got into it :3
i watched the lion guard originally as a young teen! my memories are foggy, so i can't say how much i liked it, but i do remember ono being my favourite and that i watched enough to remember a lot of the episodes when i revisited it a few years later. i rewatched it out of childhood nostalgia and curiosity - i wanna say around 2020 maybe? - and developed a hyperfixation on it, specifically on janja! back then, i kinda only cared about his character and a few others such as timon, pumbaa, scar and kiburi, though janja was the character who i was actually interested in. i had even bought a lion king notebook to write a snippet of an au i had for him, i still have it lmaoo
because of how my hyperfixations work, i get obsessed over one fandom for a while until it switches to another. for instance, most of last year i hyperfixated on the madagascar movies - those periods of hyperfixating would last anywhere from hours to months until shifting to, for example, the lion guard. it also wasn't my main fandom at the time, madagascar was. that changed in november last year, when i found that there was a LOT of cool lion guard content on here (especially @devilsrecreation's outlanders posts!). i began to interact a little bit which made me hyperfixate on it even more. i made my first lion guard post in december, and that's where my posting and very long hyperfixation on it began!! since then i've had like a landslide of constant thoughts about this silly show, and i've picked up a lot of new favourite characters along the way (such as kiburi and his float, beshte, goigoi, dogo, literally all of the outlanders...). i've barely shifted hyperfixations since then and the show has very swiftly become a favourite media of mine! :3
so, i guess seeing content being made AND making my own has made me hyperfixate on it endlessly (/pos btw). i've specifically hyperfixated on the outlanders as you can probably tell lol. essentially, ✨the power of hyperfixations✨ lead me to being on and posting on this site, but the show has always been for me since i was a teen c:
