Holy shit why did they do Andy and Maya so dirty with those wigs in that last scene of Station 19??
Speaking of doing dirty, did Grey Damon want to leave/do something to offend the writers because the last time I saw writers fuck over their own character this much it was Jimmy Borelli in Chicago Fire - or Ava Bekker in Chicago Med (in fact the Chicago Universe routinely fuck over their own characters).
But on a less important note: I, as I'm sure many other people out there in the world, hated Kate. Obviously we don't hate her as much as her own writers cause wtf was that ending lol
So yeah... obviously instead of doing something healthy like sleeping, I just spent the whole night watching the entire last season of Station 19 and honestly, as far as my personal opinions are about this show, it wasn't the worst final season of a show I've ever seen.

For APF, who underestimates how cute I can make disgusting things. And for Ducks, who humoured me and my ridiculous ideas.
Solemates
One of her socks goes missing the day after she wins gold.
Maya doesn’t notice right away, not until she’s packing her bags to leave the athlete’s village. Not until there’s only one sweaty, blood-covered sock in her pile of dirty clothes.
She looks for it, at first, because she isn’t really thinking about that. Isn’t thinking about anything except how her father probably wants to frame them, wants to hang them above the mantle in the living room as a testament to what a Bishop is capable of.
What a Bishop can win.
What a Bishop can overcome.
She gives up, after a while, when it’s clear there’s no sock to be found. Instead, she shoves her sports bras and her leggings and her training gear into her duffel bag, ignoring the sharp stench of sweat laced into the fabric.
Ignoring the sharp pinch of her ankle in the bandage wrapped around it.
When she steps out of her room for the last time, gold medal hanging heavily around her neck, she doesn’t look back. Doesn’t think too hard about the missing sock.
Doesn’t think at all about dropping the other one in the trash.
~
Carina’s living in Milan when it arrives.
Actually, living in is a generous term. She’s more gravitating, lugging herself between hotel rooms and friends’ couches with only a suitcase to her name.
It hurts too much to put down roots, still.
And she’s not really thinking about what anything means, when it shows up on the bathroom floor. Isn’t thinking anything beyond the grief sticking in her bones.
Or maybe that she should really find better accommodations if the cleaning staff would miss a disgusting, sweaty, bloody sock on the bathroom floor.
But then it does come rushing back, all at once. Her mother’s voice, soft and familiar and comforting, weaving a tale of soulmates and eternity and meant to be.
She isn’t expecting it, when it arrives. Has given up expecting that such a thing is even meant for someone such as her. But she doesn’t deny it, when it appears.
It’s too hard to ignore when it smells so bad.
~
Her bra goes missing a couple months later, when she’s settled back into the spare room at Gabriella’s. And that Carina does notice right away, because she’d washed it and hung it in the bathroom with the intention of wearing it and the whole draw of moving back in with Gabri is that she doesn’t touch her stuff and –
Gabriella stares at her like she has grown an extra head when she asks. “Why would I take your bra?” she mutters, strolling past into the kitchen, “It wouldn’t fit me.”
She remembers again, then; remembers the sock wrapped in a plastic bag to hide its smell, shoved into the very bottom of her suitcase. It feels unfair, just a little, to know that someone, somewhere in the world, has gotten her nice bra and in return she’s received their disgusting sock.
Their bloody, sweaty, stinky sock.
At least her bra was clean.
~
Maya finds it in her pack while she’s sorting through her things on a hostel bed in Nepal.
She pales instantly, shoving it into the open pocket to hide it from her bunk mate. Shakti has been too intrigued by everything Maya has done in the last few days they’ve been together – from brushing her hair to doing sit ups on the floor.
Shakti doesn’t need to see the rather lacey bralette that’s somehow magically appeared in Maya’s pack.
Unless Shakti is the one…
No, Maya thinks instantly, there’s no way. It must’ve been one of the other girls, one of the other many people she’s crossed paths with in the last week of her travels.
A funny joke.
The fabric is soft beneath her fingers, despite the lace. Warm, almost.
And tiny; far too small to fit her own breasts.
She keeps it without much more thought, wondering if maybe she’ll cross paths with the girl who put it there. Wondering if maybe she’ll get a bit of practice removing it from the body it belongs to.
She doesn’t think about what the appearance of an undergarment is supposed to mean.
~
Andy gushes about it years later, grinning over a shot glass on her front porch.
She’d found her sock as a child, tucked beneath the covers of her bed. She thinks it belongs to Ryan, Maya knows, thinks the flirty glances they’ve been sharing across the front lawns of their parents’ houses mean they’re meant to be.
It all sounds ridiculous to Maya, though. Too far-fetched to be true.
Even if Vic has found one, too. An undershirt, stained with sweat, buried in the bottom of her gym bag while she was at the academy.
“I bet that means he’s in really good shape,” Andy suggests, smirking salaciously.
“What about you, Bishop?” Vic asks, handing over another shot of vodka.
Maya laughs, throwing it back quickly, drinking away the memory of soft lace beneath her fingers. “Monogamy is for the weak,” she declares loudly, eyes shifting to Andy’s face and the sharp fall of her smile. “Or the very, very dedicated.”
“Not quite monogamy,” Vic challenges, glancing off towards the approaching form of Ryan.
“Yeah,” Andy whispers, “It’s soulmates.”
~
She doesn’t think about it, when Maya’s warm hand slides into her own, a drink and a story hovering between them. Doesn’t think about it when they talk on the phone, or over dinner, or beneath the covers of Maya’s bed.
Carina doesn’t even think about it when Maya shows her the gold medal for the first time, her fingers soft and her kisses softer.
In fact, she forgets about it at all until she shoves her hand into the bottom drawer of her dresser, searching for the last of her things to pack, and lands on the plastic bag instead.
She knows what’s inside without looking. Remembers the sweat stains and the blood and the smell. It’s ridiculous, to have hauled it along with her for all these years.
Ridiculous, that she drops it into the box alongside the rest of her clothes, destined for their new home with Maya.
~
Carina is very good at packing, Maya finds, but less so at unpacking.
Her boxes of things litter every surface of their newly-shared apartment, the only indication of Carina’s organization the carefully written labels stating that they are, at least, in the right rooms. Like the box of toiletries in the corner of the bathroom.
Or the one that’s taken up residence on top of the dresser instead of in it.
Maya starts there, carefully extracting articles of clothing Carina has deemed okay to be folded. Her other things – the nicer things – have already been hung safely in the bedroom closet, Maya’s own collection of rarely-worn dresses and jackets relegated down the hall to the living room.
She stops when she reaches the bottom, confused by the plastic bag nestled amidst Carina’s intimates. It smells a bit, even though it’s been carefully wrapped up, completely out of place within the gentle scent of Carina’s laundry detergent.
“Carina?” she calls before she can think better of it, before she can even really register what it might be, “Is this yours?”
“Oh,” Carina murmurs when she appears in the doorway, a spatula still in her hands. She lowers it slowly, considering.
“Is this yours?” Maya asks again.
Carina frowns. “Sort of,” she nods, “It’s my… sock.”
“Oh,” Maya repeats, glancing down at it in her hands, “Oh.”
“You can throw it out,” Carina suggests, turning back towards the kitchen, “I don’t need it.”
“Hey, wait,” Maya calls after her, following, still clutching the offending object tightly. “How long have you had this?”
Carina shrugs, suddenly indifferent as she resumes unpacking her kitchen boxes, carefully arranging items in drawers. She’s good at it, now that she’s trying to deflect.
“You don’t even want to open it?” Maya offers. “One last time?”
Carina shakes her head. “I don’t need to.” She looks up, smiling softly, effortlessly yanking the breath from Maya’s lungs when she promises, “I love you, Maya.”
“Besides,” she adds on as an afterthought, waving her hand between them as though dismissing it, “It’s stinky and sweaty and covered with blood. I should’ve thrown it out years ago.”
“Now I have to see it,” Maya laughs, grabbing hold of Carina’s wrist to pull her closer.
“It doesn’t change anything,” Carina argues, tipping into Maya’s arms, “I am still choosing you, bambina.”
“But what if we’re sole mates,” Maya chuckles anyways, teasing even as Carina’s words send a flood of butterflies through her stomach. “What if it’s my sock inside this bag?”
“If it is,” Carina whispers, nuzzling closer, “I’d like my own sock drawer, because yours are very gross.”
She unwraps it slowly, both of them recoiling slightly as the years-old sweat reaches their noses. It’s plain looking, beneath the blood stains; simple.
Except for the Team USA logo on the toes.
“Oh,” Maya mumbles.
She steps away, slowly at first and then quickly, her feet picking up speed as her mind does. She dashes towards the living room closet, reaching on her tiptoes for the box tucked into a corner on the shelf.
She should’ve known, she thinks. Should’ve considered, that first night. The first time she pulled lace up and away from Carina’s body. The first time Carina’s array of bras appeared along the top of the shower door, hung to dry.
The first time her fingers felt the warmth of soft fabric beneath them.
Maya opens the box slowly, uncovering the bralette she’s kept for all these years.
“Oh,” Carina echoes when she turns. “Oh.”
“My sock,” Maya whispers, stumbling back across the room to Carina’s side, feeling the pull of her like gravity. “My Olympic Gold Medal sock.”
“Now I definitely want my own drawer,” Carina declares, dipping low to capture Maya’s mouth with her own, “And my favourite bra back.”

Where do you stand on this kid debacle? Feels a little familiar (Calzona anyone?) but I guess it’s one of the few plots they could have that allows Carina to be a consistent fixture on the show because really, what is she going to do at a fire station? Especially since the PRT is toast. I know it came up during before their extremely fast engagement but even still, it feels a bit forced to me because both their positions are valid and the other person wavering is going to feel like a huge compromise and a bit iffy; I really wish the conflict was external but I guess we’ll see how it goes?
While I didn't watch Calzona, this is literally like every other story involving kids and they do always end up with the holdout giving in and deciding to go for it. Excepting a couple of stories but even then, they simply split up, it wasn't the person who wanted kids giving and deciding they were okay with not having them. Maybe there are a rare few other exceptions but this trope goes this way 99% of the time.
In that vein, I do think it's repetitive and the sheer imbalance of how it always ends up has created a certain narrative, that having kids no matter how reluctant is a good thing, the Right Thing. So for those totally external reasons, I kind of want it to end with no kids.
But for them specificallyyyyy, heh, I don't know. First, I'll say I thought it was a really well done conversation! Lots of different layers and emotions, and surprisingly, the thing that ended up stopping Maya was her career? I was just thinking to myself, in their search for drama they seem to have stumbled onto a genuinely actually very realistic argument over realistic issues. Usually in fiction it's presented as a person not loving the other enough or having this very trauma/fear-based reason for not wanting kids but in real life, it is often a matter of timing and position in life, especially career. It's not a matter of not loving your partner, it's just, you have lots of different priorities at once. And to not have Maya villainized for it too!
But on the flip side, indeed, both their positions are so solid and entrenched, who or what will change? And why?
I'll have to see how it's resolved for whether I would have liked the conflict to be external, but for now, I think it was solid, meaty stuff where both their characters and their relationship got a good workout.

Prompt: Amelia calls home (either mom or sisters) on the Bluetooth in the car home except she has one of Mer’s kids with her who completely exposes Amelia
yes but its scout instead
Past in Present
“It’s not that I don’t want to tell anyone.” Amelia sighed, playing with her seatbelt uncomfortably. “It’s just that last time we told everyone immediately...and we lost it...and everyone was walking on eggshells around me for weeks. If that happens again I want to be able to grieve alone with you in private, not with the whole freaking hospital’s eyes on us.” She played with the tiny ultrasound scan in her lap absentmindedly. Link nodded, staring straight into the traffic in front of him. They barely brought it up and she could tell that the topic upset him by how hard he was clutching the steering wheel. “Hey.” She placed her hand on his rigid shoulder. “I’m not trying to be negative.”
“I know,” he whispered, glancing at her and giving her a small smile before pulling her thigh towards the driver’s seat and resting his hand atop of it. “You just know how bad I am at secrets.”
“Yeah, I mean you told Jo like an hour after I told you the first time,” she joked.
“Well, I was in a state of shock,” he chuckled.
“Auntie Jo?” Scout squealed from the backseat, apparently suddenly awake and full of energy. Amelia grinned, turning to face the giggling toddler in the back. She was sure that he’d gotten every last bit of her ADHD.
“Yes, bug, we’re talking about auntie Jo.” She reached to tickle the small boy’s feet and he erupted into happy screams in response.
“Inside voice, Scout,” his father winced.
“Sorry, Dadda,” Scout whispered almost comically, causing Amelia to stifle a laugh.
“Hey, your sister is calling.” Link motioned to the car’s audio display. Before Amelia could ask which one he added, “Liz,” and answered before she could tell him otherwise. “Hey, Liz, It’s Link. You're on speakerphone in the car.”
“Hi, Link,” Liz gushed, causing Amelia to roll her eyes. “Can you hear me, Amy?”
“Yep,” she replied, forcing enthusiasm. “What’s up?”
“Oh, nothing really. Just wanted to see how you were holding up out there. Also, you know me being the planner I am, I was wondering if you guys were planning on coming for Christmas? Just trying to get everything sorted.”
“That’s like six months away,” Amelia replied, giving Link an exasperated look.
“I know,” Liz laughed. “It’s just we’re deciding whether to stay in the city or book a getaway in Colorado for the whole family and it all depends if you guys are coming or not.”
“Well, I mean--”
“Sorry, Liz, we’re just going under the tunnel so you might cut out for a sec.” Link pressed the mute button on Amelia’s phone.
“Link, what’s up? I can tell her that we aren’t coming just--”
“No, I think going would be fun, it's just you shouldn’t be flying that late in your pregnancy,” he reminded her, rubbing reassuring circles on her thigh as he watched her confusion pass.
“Mommy’s preeganant!” Scout sang from behind them. Amelia would do anything to go back to the night that they told him to witness the look on his face for a second time. To say he was excited was an understatement.
“You’re right, big guy.” She laughed as Link gave the babbling toddler an awkward backwards high five. “It’s fine, babe. We’ll just say no and they’ll understand when we tell them the news another day.”
“Okay,” He sighed. “But if she gets mad, you’re taking the blame. She scares me.” Amelia rolled her eyes, unmuting the phone.
“Hey, Liz. Can you hear us now? Sorry, there was some traffic as we were going under.”
“Yep, all good,” Liz’s voice rang from the other end. “Back to Christmas then.”
“Yeah, it might be a little too much this year. I think Maggie and Winston are flying in from Chicago and Scout hasn’t seen them in awhile.”
“Oh, wow. You’ve really got it all planned out in advance then,” Liz teased, her tone was evident that she knew Amelia was making excuses, as always.
“My Mommy is having a baby!” Scout took the silence as the perfect time for his big announcement.
“Scout,” Amelia hissed, as the couple turned around to stare at their son in horror. Link burst out laughing and Amelia swatted him angrily.
“Um, congratulations?” Liz’s voice came from the other end. “Nice to hear from you, Scout. Wanna clear anything up, Amelia?”
“Uh, eight weeks along but obviously there’s a chance I could miscarry so I don’t want to give a concrete no for Christmas yet.” She bit her fingernail nervously.
“That’s amazing! You actually have a good excuse this year then,” Liz laughed. “We were all worried you had decided to stop after Scout, with him being five. We just remember you going on as a kid about wanting four kids over and over.” Link grinned at that, squeezing his wife’s thigh excitedly. “Obviously Scout is perfect on his own but we just hoped we were going to get another niece or nephew,” Liz exclaimed happily. Amelia groaned, imagining how many family dinners that her and Link’s lack of babies had been the topic of conversation. “Have you gotten a scan? You know we’d all love to see pictures.”
“Yeah, I’ll send some over,” Amelia sighed, her enthusiasm wearing out. “Well, it was really nice to talk to you, Liz. Just try to keep the baby news on the down low until we’re sure that everything will work itself out.”
“Oh, Amelia, stop fretting. It’s unlike you. I already texted Mom and she’s over the moon.”
“Grandma!” Scout babbled happily, confused by the glare he was receiving from his mother.
“Yes, exactly, Scout. Amy, we all really need to see more of your little angel.” Amelia could her slightly condescending tone through the phone.
“Alright, Liz. We’ve got to go.” Her finger hovered over the end call button as Liz said her goodbye before ending the call and bursting into tears.
“Mia, what?” Link pulled into their driveway and parked quickly before enveloping her in a hug.
“I’m hormonal and tired, it’s fine,” she mumbled, pushing him away limply.
“Momma, why are you sad?” Scout asked quietly. “Did I say something bad?”
“No, baby,” Amelia sighed, removing Scout from his carseat and picking him up into his arms to console him.
“Give him to me,” Link ordered. “We’ve talked about carrying heavy stuff. He’s too big now.” Amelia sighed, passing the wiggling boy into his fathers arms, not in the mood to argue.
                                                        [][][]
“Hey, I finally got him into bed, are you feeling better?” Link winced as Amelia threw up in response. “Pizza didn’t sit right?”
“Please don’t talk about pizza,” Amelia begged, laying down on the cool bathroom tile. “Just leave me to die.” Link chuckled, sitting down beside her and running his hand through her sweaty hair.
“Baby number two is causing a lot more grief than Scout, huh?”
“Link, this is baby number four,” Amelia sniffled, moving slightly to lay her head on his lap and letting a wave of dizziness pass over her. “Just because Christopher and Jake didn’t make it doesn’t mean...”
“I know, Mia. I wasn’t thinking. I’m sorry,” he sighed, trying to read her distant expression. “You want to get in the shower?”
“Maybe, I think that was the last of it,” she grimaced, allowing him to tug off her crewneck and sweats.
“I was talking to Jo and she said she started showing earlier with her second baby,” Link beamed as he stepped into the steamy shower behind her. The topic of Jo being able to get pregnant twice so easily in the time frame that him and Amelia had been trying for one usually set her off but instead his wife smiled softly.
“Yeah, I read that somewhere too. Maybe sometime this month then.”
“Are you upset about the conversation with Liz?” He asked, pouring shampoo on the crown of her head before doing the same to his.
“I just don’t like the idea of them gossiping about our lack of children. Scout is perfect on his own, he doesn’t need a sibling,” she replied, rubbing the shampoo angrily into her scalp.
“Okay, can you have a little bit of faith here though?” Link sighed, tugging her around to face him. “I’m not asking you to get your hopes up or throw a party, I just want a little reassurance that you’re actually happy about this.” Amelia softened.
“Of course I’m happy,” she brushed soapy water off of his forehead, absentmindedly. “We’ve wanted this for years.”
“Okay...do we still want it? Cause I’m confused here, Amelia.” He glanced down at her hands resting on her midsection.
“Link, I want this baby so bad it’s literally tearing me apart and I don’t know if I can handle going through what we went through again. I honestly...” she trailed off not knowing how to find the right words.
“I’m here, Mia. I’m always going to be here,” he assured her, wrapping his arms around her waist and planting a kiss on her wet forehead. “No matter what, we’re going to have each other.”
“I know,” she smiled softly, letting out a long exhale. “It’s just been hard, these past couple of years, watching everyone around us give birth to beautiful, healthy babies. Maggie, Jo, Maya...and everyone keeps asking us if we’re planning on having more and I have to keep saying not right now as if we haven’t been trying for years.”
“Carina said the heartbeat was strong,” Link reminded her with a sense of pride that was usually only associated with Scout.
“I know,” she replied, tiredly. “That’s good.” Link nodded, leaning back under the stream of water to rid his hair of suds.
“Alright, let’s get you out of here. It’s boiling and you look like you’re about to pass out,” he teased.
“I honestly might,” she yawned in response, allowing him to wrap her up in one of their fluffy, white towels and carry her to bed.

I’m so glad I’m used to Grey’s making me cry. Guess that will be amped up for this season. But it’s a bit different, because I can already see that the writers try to balance it all with little positive things. They just don’t hold back reality and that is the worst thing right now.
Okay, getting it out of the way. We have confirmation, JO WILSON IS OFFICIALLY BACK. Maybe it’s just because that can of worms is one too many, so let’s go back to something easy and nice. I don’t care why, thanks for finally clarifying that. Also omg, she is an actual doctor. She did actual medical things. I’m baffled. And it was especially mentioned. Wow. This is something I am not used to. (lol DeLuca is an attending now and he only took five years like he was supposed to, even if we ignore the almost one year timejump at the end of S11, Jo’s 5year residency took six years.......)
Well, I got Wilson and Bailey together in an OR and they got to have a rare case and a good outcome and I am always here for Bailey feeling some joy. Plus fuck, Jo observing mother-baby-bonding is emotional as hell. And after Station 19 I was so glad that Carina had a win as well. God, Carina is starting her fourth season and now as Maya’s girlfriend... I like her. Terrible things will start to happen to her soon, right? I mean, witnessing her brother’s mental break already counts.
I feel bad for Schmitt. Except it’s almost a fun running joke by now, getting thrown off of cases... Also, dude, thank you so much for spitting out like that. There are some things you really shouldn’t say during a pandemic. Can I assume he still lives with Jo now? Liked seeing them close.
The Jackson/Link/Helm team-up was also cool. I just want rotating doctor teams treating patients and this was hilarious. Although... do people remember that Private Practice was an actual spin-off that existed with Charlotte King, Sexologist, in it?! Guess that would mean acknowledging Amelia once had another close friend........... (I only really liked Charlotte on that show, would love to know what she is up to now) But hey, the sex therapist lead to another great Amelia/Link moment and I will devour every bit of happiness they share.
The talk between Link and Jackson was great. And once again, two sides of a thing are totally understandable. Link being glad he got to leave the crazy house with the four kids for a day. And Jackson missing spending more time with his daughter. And thank you, thank you, for not just mentioning April, but also Matt.
Speaking of mentions... Alex Karev...... Meredith’s power of attorney..... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I remember when it was a fun scene discussing healthcare proxies back in S10. Did Alex ever change his? He is known for having trouble with forms (his student debt, the unmailed marriage license) - if he’s in an accident, will Cristina get a call in Switzerland????? A~nyway it is only fair that Maredith picks Richard now. Role reversal and all. At least she tells him before! I was wondering if Bailey tried dropping hints that she wants dibs on pulling Mer’s plug if the time comes........
Watching Meredith run across the beach and faceplanting was such a relief. I laughed way too much, but it’s the stress from the rest of the ep. So thanks for doing that.
I’m glad Maggie has Winston, even if it’s only a video-call. He gets it. And everybody at Grey Sloan should have somebody outside to talk to anyway. But Maggie’s breakdown was so fucking real and awful... doing her best to just be the sister. While losing so many patients. And the way they threw in her mom’s death - yep, new perspective on that, now that people die alone. It’s not a statistic. People are dying.
Laura Cerón on Station 19 and Lisa Vidal on Grey’s, Please import more people from Emergency Room. New interns, well, the Webber speech sure changed... that hit hard. Especially with only three people left. Gonna look out for Mama Ortiz now.
I should say something about Tom. Hmmm... guess somebody has to asymptomatic.
Station 19 was good as well. A tiger. Shouldn’t surprise me, we saw a pet lion before. Ben should be glad they call him Dad. Not Grandpa. XD Still the best dude, good peptalk to Carina. A+ interaction. Seeing a happy Andy sure is weird, will she find five minutes of peace in all of this? Also Webber being Sullivan’s sponsor is a better way for a crossover than more interconnecting romance.

If they don’t do the pregnancy storyline, I dread what the next ‘cliche’ they’ll go for is. Maya getting injured on the job? Except it’ll lead to, a) her being set back even further in her career, b) her taking out her anger / frustration on Carina, and/or c) Carina only appearing to be rebuffed or yelled at by Maya.
Not sure what everyone else’s opinions were, but I was a little let down by Maya not being like super-concerned when Carina and Andrew were tailing the sex trafficker. Although I guess restraint is more in character for her. I want fluffy whump… but with no one dying.
I know, that's the problem. Any possible good storyline for them is bound to be ruined by these writers or not done correctly. I have always wanted the cliche of one of them getting hurt and seeing the other react and deal with it but I don't think they'd do it correctly. I really thought it would've been so interesting to see how Maya would've reacted while she was captain to having to deal with a call that had Carina trapped in a fire. Would she break protocol to save her? How would she handle it? There was so much potential there and I can't believe the writers didn't do it. Or even in the beginning of their relationship it would've been nice to see how they handled that.
I would like to see it now, or even see how Carina would deal with Maya getting hurt on the job since they've hinted at her being nervous about it twice now (once with Emmett, once with Maya) but I feel like they just aren't going to? And you're right, I'm afraid they would just have it backfire and make it worse for their relationship, whether it be we get cold and hard Maya back circa Season 3B or Carina not wanting to deal with Maya being hard on herself for getting hurt and maybe now not being able to have the same career goals...it just would be something that would ruin the whole storyline and not make it enjoyable.
Yeah I mean I think we got to see Maya being a little bit concerned in that situation but yeah, I think considering her personality/character and she was on the job, that was at most we were going to get in that circumstance. And I actually really liked how they handled it and had her put Carina over her job with the whole leaving the inspection thing and putting Andy in charge, I think that was a big moment for Maya and their relationship. It's too bad the writers then forgot that this season when they had Carina telling Jack that Maya always puts her job first because when it matters and Carina needs her, she doesn't.

did you see the news about stefania getting promoted to a series regular on station 19? feels like a gift and a curse... more maya x carina but also more time for the writers to mess them up 😭 also not sure what an OBGYN would be doing on a fire fighter show... i'd like to see carina get developed as a character outside of just her relationship with maya.
Haha, you described my exact thought process when I found out. Like, oh, wow, that’s great! Good for her! But wait, what will Carina do? Literally, as you said, surely that means more Marina, but what’s she gonna be doing in a professional capacity? Will it mostly be personal? If so, that’s...ominous. Please, I’d much prefer a baby emergency every week. OTHER people’s babies, just to specify. >_>
Like, even if they continued as they did in spring, with her spending way more time on S19 than Grey’s, it was’t a lot of time in itself. And it was very one-sided. And I don’t even know how they’d maintain that much unless given a specific arc, I had thought maybe they’d get a bit of a breather. But as a series regular, surely she’ll get much more, and her own growth, but how? As I think we pointed out, she hasn’t even talked to any other character on S19 except Maya’s mom...
So yeah, my first reaction was pleased, and the upside is certainly way higher, I literally have said, right, S19 already gives her way more screentime, let us have her, but lol, I didn’t really mean it! It was the kind of wishful thinking where it implied they give us tons of good Marina content too and somehow I’m not entirely confident in that. Grey’s has her job and her brother, who’ll have his own upcoming big arc. Maybe she’ll continue to spend more time on both shows, especially if they keep doing crossovers, and it’s just a formality which show she’s the regular on? I saw that Grey’s added two others, maybe S19 had more room for a new regular, especially to replace Andy’s dad. And Marina might end up with her “home” screentime so that made it easier?
Anyway, heh, I’m certainly intrigued! Interesting times ahead.
