& every day I think back to the time when I was the happiest version of myself. Every day I feel nostalgic. Every day I think about all the people I have met. Every day I am grateful for the friendships I have made. Every day I think back to the places I have seen.

All these experiences that I was able to have. All the moments became memories - not a day goes by without me thinking about it.

Exchange year in Brazil

Hi Guys,

my name is Lilly and at the moment I am in Brazil. I am going to do an exchange year. Actually I am from Germany (I am writing in English because I guess more people can understand it) Now I am here for one week and I have to say I love and hate it at the same time, because I got really homesick that days and it is really hard. This week we have holidays here. I don't have much to do. I think making this blog helps a lot because then I can distract myself. Monday school starts. I guess this week is going to be better because I can meet new people.

Now some of my experiences here:

The people are so nice and friendly. They don't know you and they hug you when they meet you. I have blond hair and blue eyes (It is very special). The people always tell you how beautiful you are. I don't know how to act to all of these compliments because they are so much ;). The food is really good. The typical food is Feijoada, Feijão, rice, fruits (like Açai) and lots of more. The Brazilian people eat so much. Like five times a day. The people in my city are very sporty. They go to gym and do lots of sports, like beach tennis and play volleyball. They have a country club where they go everyday to spend time together. Havaianas are very famous here everybody wears them. The animals are so beautiful like here are very colorful birds and lots of dogs.

I am going to post more these days.

First Month

Hi,

I am here for one month now. I like it a lot. The people here are so nice and friendly and want to do a lot of things. I try to meet my friends often. At the moment it is a little bit difficult to meet my friends from my class because this is the last year of school. They have to learn very much for the exams. When they don't have time I try to meet my Hostsisters or my friends from another class. But I want and have to meet someone to do something. Fortunately everyone lives close to each others in the city.

School is so cool. Sometimes a little bit boring but it is better to be in school then sitting at home.

the next days I want to start to play tennis. I want to structure my week more. I guess doing sports is a good option.

I also found out more about the travelings. There are going to be four travelings. The Rio de Janeiro Tour, the Amazonas Tour, the North and the South Tour. I want to do them all. They sound like so much fun.

I also was at my first wedding party. The couple is married for 25 years now. They celebrated it. It was really nice. They married again. There was pastor and flowers and everything was decorated really nice. After the ceremony we ate something. There was a huge buffet with cheese, bread topping, and lots of more things. At the afternoon there was a band that played music the whole time. My friends and I also sang on the stage but it wasn't good ;). We danced a lot. I had so much fun. My favorite people were there and we laughed the whole time. This was literally the best party since I was here.

I’m going abroad! Update on my exchange semester application ☆ Since my semester abroad in the US couldn’t take place due to corona, I decided to apply again - and it was worth it 🥰 As you can see in the picture: I’m gonna be in the USA from August to December. I got accepted for my first Choice: Pittsburgh - the Katz Graduate School of Business! I really hope that, even with the current situation, it will actually take place this time. I’m so excited and it’s been one of my biggest dream to study in the United States for so many years - can’t wait for that dream to come true. Where are you from and do you also want to study abroad? If yes, where?🌏

I went on exchange in high school to Germany and stayed just outside of Berlin. It was the most amazing year of my life but it came with many challenges and interesting encounters.
