something. about. the horror of being sent on an impossible (death) quest and obligations and hospitality politics. the trauma of not having a home, and then the trauma of being in a house that becomes actively hostile to you, one that would swallow you whole and spit out your bones if you step out of line. all of this is conditional, your existence continues to be something men want gone.

it's about going back as far as I can with the perseus narrative because there's always a version of a myth that exists behind the one that survives. the missing pieces are clearly defined, but the oldest recorded version of it isn't there! and there's probably something older before that!! but it's doomed to forever be an unfilled space, clearly defined by an outline of something that was there and continues to be there in it's absence.

and love. it's also about love. even when you had nothing, you had love.

on the opposite side of the spectrum, this is Not About Ovid Or Roman-Renaissance Reception, Depictions And Discourses On The Perseus Narrative.

edit: to add to the above, while it's not about Ovid, because I'm specifically trying to peel things back to the oldest version of this story, Ovid is fine. alterations on the Perseus myth that give more attention Medusa predate Ovid by several centuries. this comic is also not about those, either! there are many versions of this story from the ancient world. there is not one singular True or Better version, they're all saying something.

Happy Sun/Moon Reveal-versary! 🎉

The 21st of September has arrived meaning it's time to grab a slice of cake and celebrate as today is Sun and Moon's Reveal-versary/Birthday! In celebration of this, today is also the day the 2024 Reveal-versary magma collab opens!

The reveal-versary collab is a week-long event featuring two magma boards artists can draw in! (Time is dated from when this is originally posted.) Biblically accurate DCA, AUs and variations are all welcome to join in the celebrations! (If you have questions about what magma is or want to see some previous examples you can check out this post!)

Like last year the reveal-versary collab is split into two boards! Though starting from this year there will now be a surprise themed board each year!

The Party room: The main board where you can join Sun and Moon to celebrate their birthday! Grab a slice of cake, bring some snacks, add some gifts they may enjoy or add balloons if you wish!

Themed board: This years themed board is a Sleepover! Join a tiny pair of familiar faces over by a collection of pillows! Would you join in any mischief, join a sunny friend in some reading or simply get cosy during the sleepover? Feel free to add blankets, pillows, beanbags and maybe even some plushies!

Before jumping in here are the rules:

No NSFW

1 Character per board (For now! This may ease later into the event, this is to give people time/space to join when they can. Keep an eye on any updates for if this changes! Small props/additions can be added freely so long as they don't take too much space.)

Merge your layers when finished! (This is important to prevent slowdowns and allow others to draw if we go near the layer limit)

Sign your work (So I can credit you when the final result is posted!)

Keep your character a reasonable size (No characters that take up a large quarter of the canvas please!)

Please try to colour and finish your character/art if you can!

I was 13 when Gravity Falls came out, which was the perfect age to really get swept up in all the secret codes/theories/general ooky spooky vibes of the fandom. It really was one of the most exciting experiences I've ever had with a TV show. I wouldn't have had this much fun if I wasn't 13. If I had just been a few years older, I would have been significantly smarter. But I WASNT. So I thought I was watching some sinister creepypasta type shit somehow sneak its way onto Disney Channel. I thought it was run by the Illuminati even though I didn't actually know what the illuminati was. I thought the cute silly vibe was all a ruse and it was eventually gonna take a really scary bloody gorey turn. I thought the show was gonna end in the twins getting ritualistically sacrificed or something. I thought Mabel was gonna get betrayed by Lebam.

#i really did believe thought i was gonna see a creepy pasta type thing actually develop on the show #yknow the subversive ''the rugrats were dead all along'' type stuff #i thought they were suddenly gonna reveal a twist that made the show suddenly turn fucked up #and i dont mean like. how the show ACTUALLY turned out #like gradually getting darker and more exciting as time went on. with the stakes getting higher and whatnot #like ya gf was a cool fun child appropriate horror #but the slow descent into creepiness felt natural. and it still retained its humor and spirit despite that #i thought it was suddenly gonna jumpscare the audience into full out adult horror #i was very stupid. but GOD it was thrilling. i was having the time of my life

2010 Australian Grand Prix - Jenson Button(ft. Robert Kubica & Felipe Massa)

#this was genuinely a race of attrition in the back. 10/24 cars dnfed and i think all but 2 were technical problems #this was a really exciting race tbh i really had no clue what the podium would be #its weird cause i knew seb mark and nando didnt win it but i was so confused how they were gonna lose it? and then it was like OH JENSE OFC #jense was incredible in this race ah what a comeback #everyone thought he made a huge mistake switching to slicks so early on and then it turned out he was the strat goat #and it makes it better cause it wasnt even a call from the team! it was literally his call!!#as we all know hes a god in the wet and it was so admirable and brave of him to make such a bold call for himself and have it work out #the way he has such dominance and performance in wet races(ex canada 2011) is forever so impressive and cool to me #also!!! this race really proves to me why rly i like 2010. really close racing BUT ALSO:#its so sick that both nando and jense won their first/second race with their new team against their teammates who have been there longer #like to have both of them win with the same prestige is so satisying and emotional for me #and god i got flashbacks to aus 2009 seeing him standing on the car. its cool he won melbourne back to back #but also. this post race honestly sucked. bad tv direction bad lighting(not in their control tbf) i felt like they showed nothing well ah :#tho my fav gif is where felipe is standing on his tippy toes and jense bends down sjakjf #jenson button #robert kubica #felipe massa #f1 #formula 1 #2010 australian gp #we do a little bit of f1

ive made myself more wet and pathetic

#new icon because im SUFFERING. im in HELL #its so bad. i had to sign out of discord so now im both lonely and stressed #because i KNOW im still gonna get dstracted. i just did making this URGH #how good are brains at working around things. i once set a 7AM alarm on my phone with snooze cause i was so sure my brain would #be too lazy and keep snoozing instead of actually turning it off. but nay it either kept sleeping through the alarms and snoozing #or actually managed to turn off the alarm half awake that i barely remembered it and then waking up late #i actually have a track record of climbing out of bed and turning my alarm off without remembering. which is impressive bc i have a loftbed #the other thing is setting fake deadlines so make myself panic into doing things ahead of time. but unfortunately that doesnt work either #because if theres one thing my brain will put all its energy into remembering its self assurance. meaning i WILL be able to remember #the real deadline even if i try to trick myself. cant ask someone to give me a fake deadline either #the only things keeping me going rn is that i have deadlines due at least 1 day between each other and excitement being able to talk with #crow after break. but you can see how well thats going <- ignores long term rewards in favor of short term pleasure #BTW CROW IF YOURE READING THIS IM SO SORRY TURNING OFF MY DISCORD WITH BARELY ANY EXPLANATION #im a huge fucking dumbass and i had barely enough impulse control not to block everyone in my dms because i realized that would send a real #really bad msg. youre not distracting me im distracting myself and i promise youre not annoying me i just really like talking to you and #thats why im just barely stopping myself from signing in. Yeah, for sure! (At least, I think I can? lmao)

I've finished all the pieces I was doing for the Spiderdads zine (SFW and NSFW) and pre-orders are up right now! A small preview of one of my pieces was just shared on their Twitter page! 😊

I'm also doing pieces for two zines that are purely Miguel focused, one of them being FANGS, and the other being Enrapture, which I was so lucky to be invited onto as a guest artist! They're currently in the production phase still, but I'll let you all know when pre-orders for each start! 🤗

#I've been working between all those zines and commission' and and whole bunch other projects since like' september #which is also why I had a massive gap a little bit ago where I barely posted anything #I was drawing all the time and was super busy' I didn't just forget you guys or anything #but anyways lmao #I'm super excited to see how all the different zines turn out!
